To be fair even as a huge sufag they were among some of the more one note characters. They had distinct personalites (Ruby is the hot tempered one, Sapphire is the calm one) but recently they've actually tried to build on that with them getting married so they can be seperate for longer periods of time. Ruby even got her own episode and it was great.
