Funny I used the same picture as you did for the last Felix thread
So underrated, and Yea Forums is starting to get into it which makes me really happy

Didn’t notice there was another Felix thread before recently. Yeah, I found out about its existence a week ago and now I’ve been watching a lot lately. It’s pretty good, but short-lived. I wondered why is that.

Literally Felix the Cat trying to be Ren & Stimpy.

I guess. Still a pretty decent show, though.

When it isnt trying to be Ren and Stimpy and its just Fleischer-esque surrealism, its a really fun show. I think its the best version of Felix to exist

To be fair, the show does it pretty well.

>What does Yea Forums think of Twisted Tales of Felix?

I wanna fuck dat cactus.

Attached: 1560872486482.jpg (899x719, 79K)

Like I said last thread, the best shorts were the ones directed by Lynne Naylor/Stephen DeStefano and the ones directed by Milton Knight

It's alright. The change of Felix's voice is jarring, though. I can't stop thinking of Chicken every time he talks.

She does look pretty succulent.

Too bad nothing is really happening for the 100th

You mean Felix's birthday? That's a shame.

Isn't he a public domain now?

>I think its the best version of Felix to exist
What's the worst one?

>Isn't he a public domain now?
ALMOST

Dreamworks have the rights now. They've been talking for a long time about a reboot with a movie but nothing so far.

Why isn't there porn of the Beatnik babe?
Also
>Beatniks
>in the 90's
Wut

Felix the Cat sucks
Pat Sullivan sucks
Felix's fans are a bunch of commies

Attached: waltdisney.jpg (500x375, 51K)

How much would they be able to pull it off like BlueSky did with Captain Underpants and Peanuts?

Don Oriolo killed TToFtC yet brought this abomination during KidsWB's twilight years
youtube.com/watch?v=1nIFk1Q3pNo

Ive rewatched Twisted Tales countless times, love it to death. It's a shame Felix's only moment to shine since the golden days was so short lived.

Attached: whistlin felix.gif (800x600, 2.55M)

We were all too focused on Candy Kitty.

Some user made this a while ago. I thought it was neat.
youtube.com/watch?v=SGL_WSs1Pvc

50's

A quickie sketch was attempted.

Attached: hbsheba1unf.jpg (516x966, 76K)

neat

Yes, ignore the cute and sassy beatnik kitty for the vapid and generic Jessica Rabbit knock-off.

He's public domain. Problem is the design- the design currently PD is like, Felix in Hollywood era. Blockier, smaller head, etc. Not THE iconic Felix. That's only next year.

would bang

Thank you user it's great
It's almost impossible to see art for her

Only doesn't get to be called "Best Felix animation" because Woos Whopee exists

Aww, thanks guys. I'll probably clean it up and color it later, but I've got some IRL stuff to deal with before I can make time.

Also, Nice trips.

I was rewatching it recently, The first batch of episodes are very ...experimental, and don't really have any structure, just a lot of crazy shit happening all over the place. Then after felix voice changes the episodes becomes more structured and start having actual stories so its more enjoyable to watch but less charming in a way.

I found a few on Paheal, but most of them are a strange crack ship between her and that crazy pink cat from Slacker Cats.

Could you give me a comparison between the iconic design and PD one?

Left is the one in the public domain right now, right is the one you have to wait exactly six months to use. And of course, if for you the Trans-Lux one that's taller, doesn't have whiskers, and has the magic bag is THE iconic Felix, then you gotta wait another 30 years or so

Attached: Screenshot_114.png (431x263, 101K)

It has to be one person who commissions stuff, mostly one fetish and between a crackship
Interesting there's nothing of her and Felix together though

>30 years for THE iconic one
Well, shit. At least the second one is closer to the iconic one. It might have potential even without the bag.

Personally I don't like the Trans-Lux Felix so that one is the perfect one for me- it's what I use as a base when I draw him, sketches like these old ones

Attached: d17e511d8c151b088f4413cb05b8ae07.jpg (500x418, 74K)

Blame Don Oriolo, the son of the man who brought you the 50's felix, and the guy responsible for the felix movie.
Don is sort of the opposite of John K. Rather than having daddy issues, hes obsessed with keeping his fathers legacy alive, much to the detriment of any further felix projects that dont stick to his father's vision.
He's actually one of the main factors for the show getting canned, that and low ratings and studio infighting.

Attached: donPhoto2.jpg (800x600, 77K)

i would say you get iconic Oswald in four years

but Universal couldn't be arsed to renew some cartoons in 1955, including Trolley Trouble

but still

Attached: angry-ozzie.png (220x234, 6K)

Say we get him for sure

Personally I'm gearing up to have shit done on time to take advantage of it, webcomics et al, small stuff since I'm no big merchandise company just one drawfag, but still

The bag limits his potential, he's way better without it

Man, it's no wonder why Sonic's design is so iconic. At least his Classic design.
That is true. I always wondered why he even have that bag anyways. He seems capable of doing cartoon logic and physic on his own.

I get why the bag exists but I hate it
If you want it for surreal shenanigans it's useless, he can transform his body
If you want it for more structured adventures it's awful, it removes any risk

The bag was made for production reasons. The Trans-Lux Felix show was made on the super cheap and also really fast, so they needed an easy way to get Felix out of any corners they wrote themselves in, with no time to write more carefully.

Do you have some kind of mental impairment?

Attached: autistic poster.png (1141x833, 141K)

The Twisted Tales's staff openly hated Joe Oriolo's take on Felix the Cat and when Don Oriolo forced them to bring back The Professor and Rock Bottom, the staff made them into a senile gay couple. It must be kinda hard to have people saying your dad's life work suck

Attached: dd0gzvq-48c6ae5c-35ae-4ab2-a13d-696ff0abaff2.png (790x1282, 1002K)

These are pretty interesting. As someone who's now getting into Felix and only seen the 30s and Twisted Tales, what's so what's so bad about 50s Felix show?

bland
bland
blaaaaaand
cheap animation etc which could be forgiven but it's just boring and bland
I'm sure some can see some charm in that but honestly if you want some midcentury limited kids tv animation just go watch Rocky and Bullwinkle, it's got more punch

Yeah but the few people that remember Felix the cat knew him for the 50s cartoon.

Which is a testament to age, not to quality. I'd argue more people still remember him for the earlier cartoons, for merchandise, and for thinking the black cat clocks are him

Right, I knew there was something boring about the show when I look at the thumbnails and animation.
The art style reminds me so much of the Sonic screensavers

Someone drew this last thread, I'm thankful.

Attached: 1560812528625.png (1296x1254, 189K)

This is really nice. She's pretty much my favorite character from this show. Sad to see that she'll never come back again. I'm thankful that whoever made this art colored her hands yellow like her hair. It's just weird seeing the female cats have peach colored furs while their hair and tails are different colors.

Not really, seemed more inspired by the Bakshi Mighty Mouse series (which John K also has a hand in)

All they’ve done with him is license him out for clothing lines

Attached: Screenshot_115.png (888x861, 44K)

There could be some Felix comics in the future. I'd say never say never, since there's like just two Felix shows, everything's good for a revival.

She appears to be taking it well, all said. So much energy in that design.

>yellow
But doesn't she wear white gloves in most of her appearances?

CU was DreamWorks

Attached: Screenshot_116.png (563x681, 21K)

Saw this thread and decided to randomly watch an episode

>fuzzy bunny/milky way episode
Fuck it let's go

>infant is scared of Felix and gets hit in the helmit he is wearing
>probably retarded
>"it wasn't you stuffed duck because your dead!"
>Felixs clockwork orange therapy scene
>Felix straight up grasp some female cows bare ass with panties down
>clockwork orange korova milk bar parody

Holy fuck where has this show been when I was growing up!

Attached: 1561712237378.png (766x604, 428K)

Awesome.
Among the best from the 90's, in my opinion.

Literally Judy from Doug

Saw it once in the era of Saturday Day Morning, then convinced myself that it probably fell into the Lost Media ether.

No, although we DO have a recent Felix show in that state- there was supposed to be a 3dcgi one made in France but we've only ever seen a few seconds of it

Then I'm glad my fears were unfounded.

A trope that appeared randomly even up to the early 2000's

Attached: 19-07-01-01-30-35-129_deco.jpg (1920x2560, 1.44M)

I guess it’s hard to see depends on the video’s quality, but her hands are about the same color as her face unless she was wearing gloves (peach-colored) as you said.

Attached: 3C162D43-7D3A-4DA2-B8AD-129CF3302B33.png (1066x650, 756K)

I'm down for that, especially if it's anything like Twisted Tales.
Imagine a Felix movie going for the cartoony CGI style animation like CU while having Twisted Tales' writing.

>Imagine a Felix movie going for the cartoony CGI style animation like CU while having Twisted Tales' writing.
That'd be a good movie.

I agree.

>when Don Oriolo forced them to bring back The Professor and Rock Bottom, the staff made them into a senile gay couple.
You mean this one?
m.youtube.com/watch?v=6W8_xnS1AT8
Also is it just me or is this episode’s animation intentionally cheap to make reference to the Felix cartoon that the Professor and his henchman watching?

Candy Kitty is lame and boring. Sheba has a fun personality and I like her relationship with Felix even if they’re just platonic.

Meh. Not really feeling this.

>Imagine a Felix movie going for the cartoony CGI style animation like CU while having Twisted Tales' writing.

I want that so much

Attached: D9F4F565-F0C0-4515-B3C4-BA6CE9A4506A.jpg (960x1440, 187K)

>Also is it just me or is this episode’s animation intentionally cheap to make reference to the Felix cartoon that the Professor and his henchman watching?
Yes, it is intentional.

Would her and Felix work dating?

Honestly, I dunno. Maybe, but I think them being just best friends worked a lot better, which gives them fun banter to one another. Plus, Felix seems to be more interested in “hot babes” like Candy and Natasha.

And yet you have Sheba acting a bit jealous in Forever Rafter

This is my introduction to felix the cat

>mildly hyped because they'd primed me years before with the wild-looking bumpers based off the 50's show.
>instead get crap-level faux inkblot "homage" with one of the worst mis-cued soundtracks I've ever heard and girls I can barely get into because their heads are so big.

You tell me.

It's pleasant enough. Though I might agree about the sound.

Why is the Felix Movie so fucking weird?

>Hyped because of the fucking 50's show which is pure trash carried solely by nostalgia

Opinion invalidated

I used to watch it all the time. When I discovered about how Felix was before I was disappointed. Too boring.

It was the bumpers, not the show.
Faux inkblot homage is better than no inkblot homage

youtube.com/watch?v=Lri8u1A92As

It was made by Hungarians.

Beatniks were the forerunners to Hippies and hipsters

The Beatles started out as Beatniks

I haven’t seen that episode yet so that’s completely new to me. I think I’ve remembered one episode where she was also jealous of him falling in love with some girl before being quickly rejected, but I dunno.

>50’s show
>hyped
Different strokes come from different folks

Why did they replace his voice in Season 2?

That and Baby Felix.
I'm not too keen on the magic bac, and I dont really like Felix with the faux-Mickey Mouse voice. S1 of Twisted Tales has the perfect voice for him, Imo.

Attached: Felix_Dropping_A_Safe_On_His_Head.gif (338x270, 596K)

Yeah, I couldn't stand the original either. The bumpers they based off it though were different and looked like fun so I had false expectations going in.

Oriolo perhaps?

I have faint memories of watching it when I was 7, I loved it because it felt like simple fun. In retrospect, I got the impression it was way older because it aired among older cartoons like Mighty Mouse.

>Baby Felix
I just had to search it to see if this is true and holy shit, why? The characters don’t even look like they belong in Felix’s world. Some of them, like that green bird, look like Sonic the Hedgehog rejects.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=6MoeDE2Aeu8

Attached: BAF8350E-75C8-4AF5-9C14-F4C66F9BE324.png (350x234, 121K)

Yes but beatniks in the stereotypical beret wearing sense was already far removed from original beatniks and became more of a style, kinda like when grunge fashion became mainstream...just wanted to point out to user that seeing beatnik fashion in 90's cartoons wasnt really weird back then, even if kind of out of touch by that point

>mental impairment?
yes I am very much impaired. If our country had its priorities straight, I'd be allowed to live in a hospital and the state would pay doctors to either fix me or keep me safely occupied. However, it doesn't, so I have to not only shit up this thread, but also remain employed and distract everyone at work with my bullshit, in order to be able to have one hour every two or three weeks for one guy to try to fix me. I DON'T THINK IT'S WORKING

fortunately, now that I know that desu archive lets you cross-index pictures like that, I'm probably going to spend the next week exploring and time-traveling. maybe I'll start by finding every thread where that one Clarabelle picture was posted that always gets deleted. i've already seen Mickey get married to not-Minnie in Italian so i don't expect to find much tho

Attached: oswald and richard dawson.png (472x241, 147K)

Wut

Honestly, I think his S2 voice was pretty alright, but yeah, the S1 one is definitely better.

Why must the Oriolos ruin Felix?

I've assumed for a long time now that this was because animators then had grown up with the beatnik generation or been raised by them. But maybe there was more to it than just nostalgia?

>Coconut Fred
He’s responsible for that bootleg Spongebob? Holy shit.

Everything in the 1988 movie was pretty awful, Felix himself included.

I assumed it was supposed to indicate that Twisted Tales was taking place in no particular era, just a mishmash of different times & places.

Kind of like how Ed Edd n Eddy had a vaguely retro vibe without committing to a specific decade.

>If our country had its priorities straight, I'd be allowed to live in a hospital and the state would pay doctors to either fix me or keep me safely occupied.
Even politicians have better things to waste tax dollars on.

'90s cartoons did a lot of goofy stuff with stereotypes, and I think beatniks were just a recognizable stock type they would throw in, regardless of how irrelevant they were to real life.

Seems like people in the '90s assumed assumed that cartoons were supposed to be their own world, while people today assume cartoons are supposed to be a close allegory to real people.

the fuzzy bunny ep is one of the first credits for Brett Varon, who has a long career in the industry (boarder on Billy & Mandy, Flapjack, Chowder, SMFA, Clarence, border turned director on Star vs, director on the Animaniacs reboot)

There was a whole playlist somewhere, but I lost it

While I never watch the show, but from what I’ve seen, the 50s cartoon really is boring. The intro made it seem like it’ll be a fun show.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=MeAaTgZNHH4

Nice. I kind of wish these type of cartoon bumpers were back

Well I’ve watched the whole thing and I have to say, it’s actually a pretty great cartoon. It sucks that Oriolo just had to ruin the show around season 2 for it to be canceled.

>Show ended with Felix still tied up in tape with no one, not even his magic bag, is there to untied him

Welp.

>smokes while holding a sigarette

Nice detail.

Question

Why are the lgbt folks making Felix a queer icon?

What? Since when?

I’ve never heard or seen that one before. Got any examples?

I always feel LGBT will make any fictional character regardless of their sexuality a lgbt icon if they show any signs that may assume to some people as “gay”. I have a favorite character who is kind of a gay/queer icon to some people despite never having any confirmed sexuality and that the creator never made the character to be a representation to gay/queer people at all.

Haven't seen this anywhere and if so it's a bit of a misfit- they're free to headcanon what they want, but they've a much better choice right there in Krazy Kat

Do you mean Bugs Bunny?

Attached: Bait.png (1035x800, 1.61M)

I guess it is, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he somehow is.

I think it had something to do with Milton Knight as he said that he didn’t like the S1 voice actor’s performance for Felix.
>Most people involved, in fact, had seemingly small interest in this incarnation of the character. As always happens, a raft of supporting characters (each appealing to some demographic or other) was concieved before the outlines were even done, and all of them had to get playing time. Felix got lost; he ended up bearing more resemblance to Burt Gillett's Van Beuren Felix or even the Charles Mintz Krazy Kat (benign ciphers both) than Otto Messmer's creation.

I used to love this show as a kid. It’s a shame that this show’s production had gone so horrible that it pretty much killed this franchise from ever coming back. Probably not even on his 100th birthday.

Shit taste

Someone should make one with Sheba and Felix.

Yes, a shame, since I thought it was fine despite everything.

Those are the bumpers I was talking about. They actually predate Twisted Tales by several years.

Hmm yeah, looking more attentively you can tell it's the Trans-Lux model, not the Twisted Tales model

News to me, care to elborate? Based off the productions of the latter episodes I assumed something had gone on behind the scenes.
>felix being voiced by sonic the fucking hedgehog
definitely one of the most ironic turn of events I've ever seen

the 50's toon turned me off felix for most of my life, it wasnt until Twisted tales that I got into him

here's the trainwreck
tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Trivia/TheTwistedTalesOfFelixTheCat

Actually it tried to be AOSTH. It had the same people working on it.

Attached: 67B222EE-B309-4D85-A8DA-2882D8D22D54.jpg (500x500, 42K)

>not having her shirt read "I'm bad mews" instead
missed opportunity for a gag

it is a fun gimmick though, it's one of the qualities felix had that always made him more fun than his peers in my opinion.

Why is John K being brought up? He had nothing to do with Twisted Tales

She also has one behind her back it seems.

The whole series is rife with waifu bait from top to bottom. My personal favorite being Roscoe's sister, Candy Kitty. The night I discovered the series, I immediately took to drawing art of her. Many anons have already mentioned it in this thread, but it's a shame how shafted the supporting cast for this series was. That evil duck guy was so much more endearing than the evil professor, Sheba is a delight on screen, and all the episodes with Shamus are fun romps. I even grew fond of Roscoe and that stupid crazy frog. Im really sad to learn about the behind the scenes mess, because this show is early simpsons tier for me.

forgot pic

Attached: phelix_5.png (347x346, 102K)

Thanks to Yea Forums in general and this thread in particular i've started to watch some episodes on youtube and... whoa
It can be jarrying sometimes but I'm digging the Duckman aesthetic and how creative it can be: there really should be more animation based cartoons like this around.

i don't have Felix pics on my PC
>three cigarettes
her voice isn't going to end well.

Attached: 1546475141086.jpg (800x858, 191K)

When you get down to it, Twisted Tales is like the perfect combination of classic simpsons, bakshi mighty mouse, duckman, and AOSTH. The animation references, the art, milton fucking knight, the weird trippy visuals, and the comfiness of the series just gives it so much character. Especially when you compare it to it's peers of the time, like the woody woodpecker show and the multitudes of ren and stimpy rip offs. It's just a shame how buried and forgotten it got over the years.

now that you mention it i can see a lot of AOSTH in it, but I'd say better because Felix has more diverse enemies and... well for most of what I've seen reality itself is his enemy, that's what you get for living in cartoon world.

The Bakshi MM it's been on my watch list for ages, I really should look that up.

This show was weird.

Attached: fel.png (629x505, 324K)

Why did Don Oriolo ever created that Hellbeast?

Attached: IMG_20190630_232217.png (225x187, 83K)

This show’s production is like a roller coasters of bad.

The writers hated Don for wanting Felix to be like his dad's: a Dollar Tree Mickey Mouse

Pretty much. The show was pretty much just fine with the magic bag of tricks, even without it. That fact that season 2 was a huge snark against Don and the show’s problem when trying to retool to being like Oriolo’s Felix was hilarious and sad. Don just had to fuck it over for everyone.

What’s funny is that I could definitely see Joe’s characters being handled better here than they were in the original. I actually like the Twisted Tales’ take on them, even if they were depicted them to mock the creator’s work. They’re pretty much just as zany as the other cast of Twisted Tales.

Is there any drawings of Felix and Shiba smoking together?
I like that idea that they smoke people made art of

>that time felix said the n-word when he died in pubg

hello mr newcomer to this place

I don’t think so, but probably. Not sure if the artist who made these is still around.

Hopefully-

He probably saw SpongeBob on TV one day.

Is it weird that I like S2 take on Felix? I mean the S1 voice is a bit better, but I kind of like the hamminess and the laugh he makes, especially in the Robot Rat and Dueling Whiskers
m.youtube.com/watch?v=6W8_xnS1AT8
m.youtube.com/watch?v=9n7Blu-CtLY

Are those aspects better in S2 than S1 (hamminess and laugh)?

Personally, yes, but at the same time, I don’t think it fits Felix more than the S1 voice because people will most likely think of Chicken every time he talks.

Season 1 voice was better

Not saying it isn’t. Just saying I like season 2 voice as well. Personally think they’re both decent for different reasons.

Would Yea Forums do something about Felix’s 100 anniversary like make a celebration thread for starters?

Eh, Chicken is a lot more cruder. I think it sounds a little closer to Buster Bunny than Chicken, but more middling so Adler makes the voice his own.

Yeah it definitely in the middle in terms of not being pretty high pitched but not low pitched either.

Just have the celebration thread be everyone giving their regards to felix, but every post must end with a variant of, "Fuck you Don".
Since Don is kind of the reason why felix is in this weird limbo of obscurity and mediocrity.

This cartoon had no business dying so young.

I like this idea. His anniversary starts on November 9th, right? I’ll be sure to make a thread or at least be part of it in case someone made it on that day.

Agreed. Fuck Don.

We need two threads
A proper Felix 100th celebration thread and a "Fuck Don Oriolo" thread

That’s good, too.

and thank the network for plopping it in a timeslot either opposite X-Men or opposite sports

Now that’s even sadder.

EXTRA THICCCCCC!!!!!

That ass is nasty

At least he has power over the property no more.

Yeah, but how would Dreamworks do it if they were to pitch it?

Exactly what the series was going for

Ren and Stimpy?

While the show sucks, I kind of like its intro more than Twisted Tales’.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=MeAaTgZNHH4

Yeah I kind of got nostalgia from that intro but that’s it

Same, the show really, really shows its age and not in a good way.

Oh I remember that episode.
"What a doll and I happen to like playing with dolls."

That line I still get a chuckle out of it.

Attached: 20190703_094431.jpg (883x714, 52K)

The grotesque was inspired by Ren & Stimpy and the 90s trend in general, but it was way more influenced in the surrealness of early 30s cartoons then it ever could be Ren & Stimpy imho

Ren Stimpy is way more groteque which is its biggest weakness.

Day going by fast

Fast, must be due to summer.

Didn't they debunk that a while back?

Nah, I mean, sudden influx of threads and posters.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure Moot once said that the traffic doesn't really change that much during summer. Of course, that could be different now.

>That one episode where Felix enter the circus tent full of “circus freaks”
>Felix then see one of the members is a normal looking woman
>a boy asked what she got
>the ”woman” replied in a deep voice that he doesn’t want to know

Kek. That will not fly today

The 90's were so long ago...

So much really have changed

Another thing that wouldn’t fly is Peking Duck since he’s like a stereotypical evil “oriental” Asian guy

I can see that one getting reinvisioned with a different name.

Attached: 15564722648.jpg (236x237, 10K)

>I have a favorite character who is kind of a gay/queer icon to some people despite never having any confirmed sexuality and that the creator never made the character to be a representation to gay/queer people at all.

Nature Cat?

They are actually an ancient monster set to destroy everything you have ever loved.

Nah, he’s a video game character.

I don’t be watching Nature Cat. What makes him a gay icon?

you know, if you watch the old 1920s Felix cartoons, it looks a lot like a game of King's Quest, with the screen all zoomed out, the main character walking from screen to screen instead of scrolling, text appearing in boxes, etc.

>Gave it to DreamWorks
>they're only doing for merchandise
Say it with me Yea Forums...
FUCK YOU DON.

Which is better (better, not more important)
Twisted Tales or the 1910's-30's Felix the Cat cartoons?

Yeah, I’ve noticed now that you have said it. I just now reminded that one scene with the spider entering the pyramid into the hallway
m.youtube.com/watch?v=L1j7uhwDGsc

Wow this lasted long
Hope to see it up longer

Probably Twisted Tales since he’s basically 10s-30s Felix during the modern times

OP here. I’m just as surprised, too. Was expecting it died by the time I’ve made it. If this thread does die, I’ll be sure to make another on Felix’s birthday or at least hope someone else does.
FUCK YOU DON

Nights?
I'd say Klonoa but he has a gender and probably a straight sexuality... Still a gay icon somehow

... What a weirdly specific trend.

20's Felix oughtta be in the running. It holds up well ESPECIALLY for silent cartoons standards.

I remember the NES game being really good

You made me recall working retail during the Gamecube days and having a grown ass man asking me if I had a Felix the Cat videogame.
Based dude.

You think Sonic will celebrate the 100th anniversary for the character he was inspired by?

Attached: 3BCB8924-5408-44DC-87E5-B225CCBEEAD7.png (1024x624, 1.05M)

Yeah, Nights and Klonoa pretty much examples of that, too.
It’s Yoshi. I mean, I guess I understand why, but he was never confirmed or even meant to be a representative of gay/queer characters.

Yoshi
didn't know that, but now that you mention it I recall Birdo being regarded in a similar fashion because of misgendering sheningans.

Yeah, for Birdo’s case, Nintendo pretty much rectonned her from a guy in a drag to being just a girl for the most parts (they still make jokes about her original depictions, though). Both characters’ genders were obviously not meant to be taken seriously or make a big deal of since Nintendo probably wanted people to not think too much about it what’s with the Mario series being known to not make sense when it comes to logic and other stuff, but I guess LGBT felt like they’re in a desperate need of an queer icon for the Mario series for some reasons. Birdo is the only character I actually can see being an appropriate queer icon, honestly.

Imagine trying to turn a character who existed before Mickey Mouse into another Mickey Mouse. That must really hurt Felix’s reputation after all these years where people might mistaken him for a Mickey Mouse clone.

eh, I guess when there isn't any serious representation of you in video games you just get what you can, I agree with you that Birdo's the only one that holds some water though.

Happy 4th

>Birdo's the only one that holds some water though.
And plenty of eggs.

Pink Brian Griffin

They actually didn't base Felix off his silent shorts self, but . One of the people saw that and that's how Sonic started.

>I guess when there isn't any serious representation of you in video games you just get what you can
Yeah, pretty much. You have a point there.
This cartoon may not be July 4th related, but there’s an explosion near the end

I wish Felix came back.

True, especially since 50s Felix is more well-known than 10s-30s Felix.

God I wish, maybe if Universal wants to play catchup
I hope he'd get some money thrown in and not like the Woody Woodpecker shorts

Amazing show
Up there with Animaniacs, Tiny Toons and Tazmania

Does Tazmania hold up at all?
Out of those three I've checked Animaniacs and Tiny Toons. The former is mostly hits, the latter VERY hit or miss.

Cleaned up the line work, but don't have time to color it tonight.

Attached: hbsheba1sketch2.jpg (619x1159, 94K)

Nice one. Can’t wait to see this colored.

If you have any more the time tomorrow, you think you can do this request

???

Unfortunately, I've got a lot of things lined up at the moment. It sounds like fun though, and might make a fun follow-up pic sometime in the future.

I understand. Good luck with whatever you’re doing, user.

>felix being voiced by sonic the fucking hedgehog
What series?

Because I remember the guy who played Lexington and Charlie Adler played Felix but not Jaleel White.

However I know Milton Knight worked on both shows. Maybe you got faulty information, which does happen on wikis.

Thanks. Gonna go see Spider-Man tomorrow night, but hope I can get to coloring soon after. The thread's been going on for a while, hope it's still around by then!

You’re welcome! Yeah, hopefully this thread stay up

Great work.

Quite sad to see those new Woody shorts aren’t anything like the Woody Woodpecker Show was great. I hope this isn’t the case with Felix

>AoStH
>Milton Knight
Holy shit, no wonder the animation and the zaniness look familiar.

Hot.

>Faster! Faster! Attack him from ze rear!
Even if they were in single episode, PRofessor and Rock Bottom have quite a bit of personality in 7 minutes.

Even if they were a 'mockery', they really didn't end up that bad, really.

What episode is this from?

Of course the same people turning "klonoa" into a gay icon have never even played the actual games.
Klonoa has a thing for a priestess named Lolo, and Lolo has a massive crush on him.

but no, fujoshis and twink fetishist furfags really have to make everything fit into their fetish, and you're a homophobe if you disagree with them making gay cub porn of this character.

Attached: file.png (236x333, 160K)

Same with Poison and every other female character called transgender back in the 90s because game companies didn't want to depict their male protagonists beating up women.
I seriously don't get why "representation" in fiction matters to them so much.

Oh man, Lolo is cute!

>Making a Felix cartoon based on the silent shorts only a bunch of animation students have watched instead of the 50s cartoon
Good way to alienate the nostalgiafags. It'd be better to create an original IP instead.

Attached: smug-goku-588cbd5c50530.jpg (633x651, 25K)

Attached: cute.jpg (74x114, 12K)

Damn straight.

Attached: file.png (465x800, 439K)

You could easily see them both as recurring antagonists, I mean, they were designed for the part. Understandable the staff didn't want anything to do with the 50's series but everything they did take from it, they made actually good.

To be honest, Felix was really fucking bland in that particular short. But I s'pose the Professor/Doctor and Rock Bottom/Lead Fanny could've still been funny as fuck. I really enjoyed them during that short.

Same here. That episode may have been a ‘take that’ towards the 50s show like the rest of the season 2 episodes, but I really like the Twisted Tales’ depictions of Joe’s characters. They made them more entertaining.

If you look back at the merchandise, his name is sometimes Peeking Duck, a vague pun.

I always thought that was a simple misnaming. Didn’t realize that.

>other Lolo fans
where have you guys been all my life?

would you have wanted to work on bootleg mickey mouse cartoons that you felt were infantile and dull, or would you want to work with your childhood

Well, I wouldn't say I'm a 'fan', I only just discovered her!

eh, not that there's that much with her outside of Klonoa 2.
you could try Dream Champ Tornament or Klonoa Heroes, but she just gets kidnapped in that one and it's only in japanese.

And, to pretend to be on topic, I thought she was cool in the old webcomic.

HEH

Sometimes simple designs are very effective.

Attached: 1559093733355.jpg (640x619, 69K)

Unironically true.

Charlie's Felix sounds more like Ickis than anything, down to the middle of the road pitch and slight histrionics.

True that. The character doesn’t need to be overly designed or else they’ll look appalling.

>Felix's bag design on the swimsuit
Based

It’s the Black Magic Bag for that matter.

the outlines for some reason remind me of truck decals

No. She is a character primarily for the merch

*She’s in Baby Felix and Friends, both an adult and a baby.

Notice how her panties are down

I remember feeling really nauseous for some reason. The cartoon felt too weird to me when I was a kid and I never watched it again.

Kino show.

How do you feel now if you watch this again?

If she were to appear in a new Felix show (if it ever happened), how would you design her and what personality will you give her?

Spider-Man was a lot of fun.

Attached: hbsheba1.jpg (681x1275, 166K)

Oh yeah, and also this.

Did not expect an actual background here. Nice work, artfag.

Thanks, I like doing beaches.

>just realized the bikinis are the same pattern as the Black Magic Bag
Neat reference

Fucking hot and well done

Hey, the remnants of WWOEC were thinking about you.
BTW you gonna draw more Clawdia in the near future?

Really sucks to be Golden Age cartoon not produced by Disney, WB, or MGM. You either fade into obscurity or become dumbed down and bastardized to fit with "political correctness" or "sjw". The latter is not "social", have no sense of "justice" nor are they a real "warrior". That term needs to die before 2020.

The Twisted Tales probably had the chance to remind people the Golden Age Felix if Don hadn’t fuck it up for everyone.

Thanks for caring about my request user, that's real nice
I asked in the general drawthread too if this thread dies so we'll see

Hope it doesn't die so quickly after a delivery. That's a bad time.

I appreciate the effort and skill, but I really wish you hadn't done that.

Thanks man! I thought it would be good to include a reference to Felix as a clue for those who don't know who Sheba is.
Much appreciated, bro!
I should draw Clawdia again. I did draw a silly pic of her on my CuriousCat account fairly recently (pic related), but a serious/sexy pic of her would be fun, too.
Oh? Sorry to hear that. Why?

Attached: ask_clawdia.jpg (583x835, 109K)

Gentle bump.

Twisted Tales is fucking perfect. Everything about it is perfect.
'50s and '60s Felix, on the other hand, was a hot bag of ass. And of course nothing beats the flawless perfection of '30s VanBeuren Felix...that shit was perfect and hasn't been touched yet.

Attached: Bold_King_Cole_1936_03_tree.jpg (320x258, 34K)

Joe Oriolo Felix was a Dollar Tree Mickey Mouse.

No problem. I like the request and would like to see it in action.

>Oriolo
this is the problem with unlimited trademark-and-copyright shit. Every intellectual property from 1924 onward that was worth protecting now has a corporate guardian, and often one appointed producer who has final word on what gets made with the property.

Like, remember when Kevin Smith told that crazy story about meeting Jon Peters to do his Superman script? How he didn't know that "Kal-El" was Superman, how he didn't want him to fly or wear the suit, all this other shit, big spider fight? Well, he got his fingerprints on two Superman movies anyway. The industry doesn't care, people do indeed just fail upwards, they have the IP and we'll eat what we're given like good Yea Forumsnsumers.

remember how fucking amazing Return to Oz was? they could make it because the books were public domain, see? If not for the Sonny Bono act, that could be Superman and Batman and Felix and Oswald and Mickey and Betty Boop, right now.

No user his drawing was the shit

Now I see why Naoki Urusawa's Billy Bat was partially based on Felix

>Naoki Urusawa

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naoki_Urasawa

Fucking autocorrect

>Gritty Kitty

This. Imagine basing an old character you've got your hands on on another old character who is actually younger than him.

When people look at 50s Felix, they'll think he's some shitty Mickey Mouse clone. Sucks for Felix.

That's more the fault of people being idiots
At the very least they could recognize the character if they saw it, so all hope isn't lost

>When people look at 50s Felix, they'll think he's some shitty Mickey Mouse clone.
That's crushing.

I'm a total fujoshi garbage person and even I can't see any gay subtext in the Klonoa games.

It's only slightly better than the Felix movie.

Twisted Tales was drowning in its own Mary Sues, clever as a few of them were. It owed more to Betty Boop, John K, and Pee-Wee's Playhouse ("I'm Felix's alarm clock!" "And I'm Felix's toaster!") than to the original Felix shorts.
Oldfag here; I grew up with late 1980s, early 1990s cartoons and kids' shows, and Twisted Tales felt astonishingly derivative of Pee-Wee to me and my friends. Everything had to come to life, talk, and complain in Brooklynese.

Not even with the King of Sorrow?

>It's only slightly better
What? There's something wrong?

What's the funniest episode visuals' wise and why is it Forever Rafter?
youtube.com/watch?v=QjAPiJS8iyg

I can see how some would construe it as gay, but to me it looks more like a hero/victim relationship. You wouldn't expect Superman to get romantic with someone he's saved, would you?

Besides, Klonoa and Sorrow's only real memory is BEING SAD together. There's no happy memories there at all. Lolo and Klonoa have way more chemistry and history.

>I can see how some would construe it as gay, but to me it looks more like a hero/victim relationship.
Sometimes fujos will ship anyone regardless how good or bad, long or short, the chemistry is.
You'll be surprised that there are people who ship the Douche with a juice box after that rape scene in Sausage Party.

Oh I agree, but my personal favorite is probably Guardian Idiot and Space Time Twister

youtube.com/watch?v=TnzLe8Ah_QA

Just realized something. Is Felix supposed to be a teenager in Twisted Tales?

>'30s VanBeuren Felix
Wasn't that Felix considered to be even more bland than Joe's Felix?

*I mean the character himself, not the shorts.

It was even more short-lived than Twisted Tales
m.youtube.com/watch?v=yOwGCpt6PPk

Good morning

Do we have definitive proof Felix's copyright has run out?

the current limit for corporate-owned works is 95 years, so anything 1923 or earlier is public domain.

at that time, copyright terms were 28 years by default, and could be renewed for a second and final 28-year term. So works published as late as 1950 may have expired copyrights. that's how a few Oswald cartoons from 1927 lapsed. I don't think they were as careless with Felix, though. you'll have to do your own research

Considering Felix started as a silent cartoon I think he could work as a mute character.

That entire episode seems pretty suggestive, what with "hands off my sack!" or the rat's cannon going flaccid after firing.

There's plenty of S1 vehicles where Felix does next to no talking. In some cases even though he does it's very clearly shoehorned, like in Space Time Twister.

Screw off

Yeah, I think a silent Modern Felix cartoon would work, too.
That was a nice reference to the 30s cartoon.

I always thought it was like this:
>Baby Felix
Obviously
>30s Felix
Kid
>Twisted Tales Felix
Teenager
>50s-60s Felix
Adult

Fun fact, Baby Felix is both a prequel and a sequel to the 50's stuff because Adult Felix and Baby Felix interact via time travel

>One whole week
Based anons

I mean, boomers grew up looking at hot beatnik chicks and romanticizing them like we romanticize goth girls.
Then when they grew up they put their crushes in their work. It's natural.

I wonder if they'd switch Sheba to a goth if they did a reboot?

Nah, then her name wouldn't make sense.

I think we're in autosage now.
That sucks. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

This is probably the longest thread in Yea Forums I ever have.
I thought it was pretty obvious in a way way.
