Why did Marvel want Angela again?
Angela
Gaiman sold her to them to piss out Todd.
Something something little girls.
muh stronk femal characters
Time for a story!
Why did a norse goddess have a basic bitch american name like angela and not angelheid or something actually norse-sounding?
Did the Gaiman Miracleman run end up being any good?
Another character to turn gay.
They did give her a more norse sounding name, it's Aldrif Odinsdottir. They mainly call her Angela because of tradition.
See you asked a question, OP but now all I can think of is how much I want a new Rayman game.
Because Alonso thinks it's still 1995.
Did the fun even end up at all? Or was it just one issue and we never got to see the rest?
This is correct except DC did not buy Captain Marvel/Shazam until the late 80s/early 90s. His appearances prior to that were licensed from Fawcett, who in the settlement were prevented from publishing the character themselves.
why didn't they just make her an Angel? She didn't really gain anything from being Asgardian and it renders the Angels themselves so pointless that their entire realm was free to be killed of in war of realms. There isn't even a single notable one, they don't have names, even the queen is just called queen of the angels.
That is the name the Angels used, because they had no clue that woman had snatched the daughter of fucking Odin. Still makes no sense because why would Angels cast into a far-off corner of the universe conform to Western naming conventions?
Asgardians had called her Aldrif before and after, but it's not the name she grew up under.
I see the reasoning of incorporating her into an existing faction just to not make up a whole new thing for her and have her thematically isolated.
A disposable Angel faction kicking her out is not unreasonable from the perspective of franchise management.
And then they shit the bed by completely upending the status quo, making Angela super important and then... doing absolutely nothing with that because their retard writer was completely incapable of writing a comic book without spazzing out everyone and everything.
So now we have a potential Asgardian succession crisis with at least two strong claimants and one of them is just ignored right after being inserted.
Angela is hot.
Well, that too.
But I think she is a very interesting character as this super strong woman who works on a completely outlandish logic of a universally transactional society and has little regard for sentiment.
And then they gave her a lesbian relationship with some OC and drove the book against a wall.
It's really frustrating to look at a character that could have very unique stories, has all the pieces in place and then just doesn't get to do anything.
Really. Thor has a bonkers older sister now and she has to be introduced to Asgardian society properly? That's a whole book right there full of angry gods and royal duties and punching shit.
Loki is potentially up to some new evil and Angela has to investigate, but has never been fighting anything like the God of Lies.
What do we get? Unsolicited opinions on Israel.
Is Angela's love interest hot at least? I'd be down to read that if they are both hot and it's done in a fanservicey way.
Well, first she wasn't. Then she kinda was.
And now they are both dropped off the face of the earth.
They literally bought her and fucked up the character as much as possible to piss off Todd. They never wanted her book to succeed, they just wanted to do as much damage to her as possible out of pure pettiness and spite.
>There isn't even a single notable one, they don't have names
Well, there's that one (Fernande?) who just joined the League of Realms, though I dunno if they'll bother revisiting that.
>expect cross between Ghost Rider, Elsa Bloodstone, and Thor
>get her doing fuck all in space when not going on pop culture-filled misadventures with her brown tranny lover
>Gaiman's run starts in September and the newer published issues will start in April.
How optimistic 2015 Yea Forums was.
Is it really a lesbian relationship, when the other girl has a dick?
The upcoming series with her, Blade, and Spider-Woman looks like Marvel might finally be putting Angela on the supernatural side of things
Now you have my attention what comic is this in?
To make Neil Gaimen happy enough to do Miracle Man
Angela Asgard's Assassin
It introduced Angela's girlfriend from Heven
Turns out that the male Angels from Heven don't have wings, and they are all forced to be monks as a slave caste and only really used for breeding
Sera was born male, Angela helped her escape and together they found a magical way to give her a female body
>Is it really a lesbian relationship, when the other girl has a dick?
Yes but she had it magically removed anyway.
Is that really the truth tho? Throughout Asgard Assassin, Sara is telling all of these stories about Angela and her past and the culture of Heaven, only for it to be reviled by the end of the mini that Malekith and that Sara was actually imprisoned in Hel
>pure pettiness and spite
Why are people that work for the comic industry full of this?
Spite.
And evidently nothing else, because they haven't done anything with her worth a fuck.
I missed that. It's awful and somehow it still doesn't make that shitshow worse.
Angela falls in love with a male Angel who are slaves to the women of that realm and she helps him find ¨her¨ true self and by a wishing well or something becomes a hot ebony wizard quipping woman but nowadays she just well pic related...
They didn't, Gaiman threw her in for free with Marvelman to spite MacFarlane.
Another lesbian for the pile?
It's like they still haven't realized heterosexual strong women are inherently more interesting.
Angela will never be Barda.
....Angela had sex with Spawn. So I guess she's bi.
not canon
I think they know, they just don't care that straight guys don't care about them.
They'd rather have a couple dykes fantasize about being a stronk empowered woman who can overpower men than write appealing female characters all sexes can enjoy.
You can't marry a drawn character, user. There's no feasible reason why you can't like a lesbian character as a male.
Actually it's not even a sex thing, it's a tribalism thing.
I've been conditioned to view lesbians as an out group, the minute I hear lesbian my mind says "Oh, this wasn't created for me, better go read something else.".
After talking to lesbians and hearing how they feel about things, men, society, etc they've effectively removed my ability to see myself as at all in a situation where we can both be in the same target demographic.
Gays, minorities, whites, women etc don't trigger that for me, just lesbians.
Blame my past experiences.
This is fucking hilarious. It's like something someone would make up to shit on Marvel.
I'm sorry to hear that, user... Though I really can't empathize with all of that, I always avoid generalizing vast groups of people this way and I don't see why anyone would do this. At least you're honest! But this doesn't sound at all wise.
>I've been conditioned to view lesbians as an out group
You can't find common ground, with girls, who understand why you have an interest, in girls. user, you might just be a bitch.
Don't get me wrong, it isn't a conscious thing, I do try to intentionally ignore it and move past it.
It's just this switch that flips on whenever I encounter anything lesbian oriented.
Like, take that comic crowded for example, I really like it, and I manged to to really like it before it was established we were following lesbians, so I managed to turn the voice down and keep reading it.
I don't want to have that reaction, but every time I'm exposed to lesbian media or lesbians in media it starts blaring and I have to consciously not follow it's suggestion.
Dumbass, men and women are explicitly attracted to different aspects of the individual.
Beyond that I don't generally bond with anyone over the fact I also find something attractive.
Aside from that, if you had any actual reading comprehension skills you'd have noticed this isn't really an issue of not having anything in common, it's the fact that over the years my dealings with them slowly conditioned me to just kinda avoid them and that branched off to include media focusing on them.
Malekith was acting on behalf of Sera so that Angela would go to Hel and bring her back
