It allows Eugene and Rapunzel to grow, individually and as a romantic couple, setting it before they get married instead of just leaving it at happily ever after. The concept of happily ever after itself is kinda central to the show
They bring in new characters that have purpose and dynamics with the originals.
Good long running plot that can still sometimes be addressed in some of the more standalone episodes
Music, art style and animation, you can really feel the effort that was put into it. The show has had a cohesive production and vision behind it and these days that should be more appreciated than ever

I used to really enjoy Frozen a lot, more than Tangled even. I guess I thought because it was more """grounded""" and serious or whatever, it was the better film. To be absolutely fair, Tangled (And by extension WDAS) owes much of its success to Meet The Robinsons and Bolt. After Chicken Little shat the bed so horribly, those two films convinced the general public that WDAS was still worth their salt. Even if they weren't smash hits like Tangled turned out to be, they still helped WDAS stay relevant at a time when people thought they were utterly supplanted by Pixar and Dreamworks.
And as for lacking corporate support for this show, we can mostly chalk that up to retardation on the part of Disney Channel execs. Everywhere else, Rapunzel gets more than a decent chunk of representation and merch. Hell, there's even her own section of a park arriving at Tokyo DisneySea soon (Pic related.) And while it does stink that Frozen's been getting overt attention and such, can you really blame the mouse? Despite the actual quality of the film it was a definite megahit, if the public will gladly spend money on it who are they to not serve that demand? Yes it's getting a sequel. But how quickly we forget we were blessed enough to have an entire fucking tv show, and a great one at that.

In the end Eugene is her priority relationship and makes it easy to just put Cass in the "sister" category even if the affection she feels might be a bit stronger than that. Would love to see them address it in the series but they most likely won't and keep it sisterzoned, but they have an opportunity to hint at it with the sort of conflict Cass's betrayal will likely bring between all of them. I think this scene in With You By My Side foreshadows that Rapunzel will find herself between Eugene and Cass, maybe being asked to choose between them, the whole OT3 will be shaken.

I disagree, the Vardaros episodes seemed more boring and pointless to me. Very little was getting done even though it was a voluntary pit stop. In the island episodes, we got some nice character insights because they were forced to pause and deal with each other. Also we finally find out where the lanterns ended up.

King Pascal was a worse retread of an already meh episode. And as dumb as really caring about Pascal as a character probably is, I don't care. So I'll flatout say the episode was a character regression if anything, especially after Pascal was willing to fucking die for Raps. The whole episode was just him being an out of character dick until the end.
The mermaid episode was boring as fuck, probably the only episode I ever thought about actually skipping. And considering how ridiculously frontloaded S2 was with filler episodes, that's saying a LOT.
Happiness is... was legitimately good, but certainly not worth the previous 2 episodes justifying its existence.
The only advantage the island arc has over the Vardaros arc is that it's mercifully short. As painfully long as the stay in Vardaros was, at least all its episodes were enjoyable in their own right. Few worth rewatching, but still worth a watch at least once.

The point of the episode is Pascal enjoyed how he was worshipped as a mighty King first time since he was always treated as a little buddy by the group although he acknowledges Raps is always his best friend. This episode is more for slice of life with entertaining and silly stuff rather than tragic backstory in Pascal’s story. Maybe not a great episode but still fine.

If we're talking purely objectively, Disney probably paid and treated the crew pretty well, many of which have moved on to other Disney projects. Not only that but they basically gave them near total creative freedom with this show, something unheard of for almost ANY mouse project. If they had the exact same terms it'd probably be a pretty compelling offer.
On the other hand, Chris and co had to deal with truly batshit retarded Disney Channel execs who fucked over this show from ever reaching a meaningful audience. Knowing these types they probably wouldn't hesitate to do it again if the pilot so much as slightly underperformed.
It really all depends on whether Chris would be fine getting to herald and craft another show the way he wants while knowingly running the risk that if the execs can doom it to irrelevancy on a whim. Again.
