They should have had the anthology movies be part of a Star Wars tv series where each season follows a completely separate and standalone story, Rogue One could have definitely benefited from this. This way, they won't suffer from movie fatigue and they'll have something that would be considered as the new GOT

I wish they would, but it's long been known that they have absolutely no intention on ever doing that. They've said that their "hiatus" between the ST and the Rian Trilogy is only going to be 3 years. THREE years. The exact span of time it took for each installment of the PT to be produced from pre, filming, post production and release. They're literally taking time off for what it would take to make a proper Star Wars film. No, they'd never leave the movies alone for a decade. They would never even consider half that.
