People can pretend that Nazis are purely anti-ideological, meanwhile Nips have a glaring racial component that can't be overlooked. They didn't end up rounding up most Kraut-Americans because it'd be a logistical nightmare, they were everywhere so they just stuck mostly to recent immigrants. Nips however can literally be spotted and were a significant minority. Also we nuked them, which kind of makes everyone forgive their crimes.

Nazi is not synonymous with German. There were many Germans who opposed Hitler such as communists. There were also nazi parties outside of Germany such as the Arrow Cross Party in Hungary.
