I liked it better than watchmen desu.
Whats your take on this?

V was the bad guy all along.
one of the best books ever. period.
it should be required reading in school. but the ideas within are too off-beat and "dangerous". better not question authority.
I'm inclined to say me too. I especially like how the panels are more like camera shots.
it was the alt-leftists all along!
The movie adaptation was terrible, and it just kills me to know that most people are more familiar with it than with the book.
Can't stand the art, but I appreciate it. Comics need more anarchy protags. 99% of capeshit heroes are just cops and it fucking sucks.
>The movie adaptation was terrible
why?
It completley missed the point. Good music, good cinematography, shit writing.
The only proper form of the story: actual anarchism instead of the wobbly-footed comfortable liberalism of the movie
I love it. It's like 1984 fanfiction with a happier ending.
>It completley missed the point
How so?
OP here, I don't know if you like reading comics online, but here's the link for V

i like how there's a little bit of character development for all the different people in the movie from V to everyone v had killed. character development for villains is something we rarely see now and it's even more rare when it's done properly.
I interpret it as "what would a supervillain look like in Airstrip One?"
Pretty dull and boring. V is nonsensically overpowered and is a complete Gary Stu. All of the antagonists are one dimensional mustache twirling douchebags that aren’t interesting in the slightest. Fan base is made up of notoriously terrible larpers.
The comic was about two extremes, anarchism versus fascism. The movie was about American Democrats versus a caricature of Bush-era Republicans.
You're talking about the movie, right?
>All of the antagonists are one dimensional mustache twirling douchebags
>t. only watched the movie
Watchmen is, partially, a deconstruction of silver and golden age capecomics, as well as cold War fear. It lost importance because those aspects are lost if you didn't grow up on that era.
V is still relevant because totalitarianism and big brother state are still relevant.
I only read the comic. How are the villains likable in any capacity? They are all Nazis.
Are hot serious?
"one dimensional mustache twirling douchebags" is not the opposite of likeable.
Nice observation, I am actually 22 years old and never understood why watchmen was so hyped beyond the philosophy and political criticism, its really a generation thing.
They're still shown as human beings. They've done bad things, but they're more complex and fleshed out than Star Wars stormtroopers.
Detective Finch even manages to turn around and quit the system. That last panel of him walking alone up the highway is more moving than that scene at the end of the film where everybody takes off their masks.
well, it goes beyond the philosophy and politics, it's the multilayered worldbuilding and character development, the experimetation with the medium to serve the narrative, the masterful use of the art and composition to emphasize the narrative, etc.
I loved it, but not as much as Watchmen.
I like that Alan Moore considers it to be a relatively immature comic. mostly because he thinks it's laughable now that it would take such big changes to push a country into fascism.
