It was my favorite show alongside with Johnny Bravo (2nd and 3rd seasons that is). First time I watched Dexter's Ego Trip at 10 or so felt like watching Gurren Lagann for the first time.

Literally the Rick and Morty of its time: for us high IQ city folk with intelligent plots and nuanced characters. Lower IQ viewers were more into shit like EEnE which was slow drawl and more violent which is why it gets the sacred cow status that Dexter deserves.

Kind of comparing apples and oranges to put Dexter and EEnE in the same category. While it's true that there was a brief period where they were airing concurrently, Dexter was pretty solidly a show of the 90's, as much as EEnE was a show of the 2000's- it doesn't sound like a huge difference, but it's a distinction that matters, impacting everything from visual style to voice acting direction to tone. You might as well compare The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Scrubs.

Dexter was my favorite show as a kid. I still think it holds up remarkably well, especially that one D&D episode- man, if that didn't nail my adolescent D&D experience to a T, complete with that one powergaming kid who we really only tolerated because he had the best house to play at (and his mom was hot).

Reminder: the one and only time Dee Dee was nude, she never came out from behind a screen and a plant. The same episode ends with Dex losing his bathing suit in the pool and the family laughing at his nakedness, complete with an iris out on his butt.
That said, Dex has the buns for it. That is one juicy boy booty.
