>those designs
Is Sook retarded or just blind?
Those designs
No one gives a shit about the Legion of Super-Boomers, fag
Other than shitty haircuts what's wrong with it?
Look over designed. Too many needless lines and squares of random materials.
Ivan Reis can’t even make those look good.
Not a fan of the haircuts or Saturn Girl's off-center look.
Not everyone needs an undercut to be trendy.
Took a page out of Jim Lee's book. They don't look like the future they look like 2001 haute couture
>Ah its another another costume redesign specifically made for live-action but is boring fpr comics episode
what kind of haircut is that
Literally a mohawk that hasn't been waxed into concrete.
>characters supposedly from the far-flung future all have the trendy haircut of today
Why.
Lightning Lad's hair looks so fucking stupid
>Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy all have the exact same haircut
>tacticool
There's not much left you can do with human hair short of attaching extensions to levitating drones. LL's hair has been associated with young people for generations.
they had a cartoon in 2006
they aren't a boomer thing only
I was going to say the Legion has always been about trendy outfits, but its closer to say the Legion has been about outfits the artist *thought* was trendy when they were already outdated.
Reminds me of Dazzler premiering in 1980 when disco had came and well-gone out of fashion, but Claremont/Byrne weren't exactly cutting-edge hipsters so they were very late to that party.
It's the legion of zoomer heroes
Looks like the Legion of Gaaaaaaaaaaaay
Looks more nu52 than the actual nu52 legion.
The lack of young-people-friendly homosex has always been one of the more unbelievable aspects of this vision of the future.
Comics have always been some years later of the current fashion trends, all the edgy heroes from the 90s are made by guys who liked 80s action movies, Cable was basically a combination of Arnie’s Terminator and Dutch from Predator.
I like the designs. Enough that I may even get this despite hating Bendis.
>Wanted LOSH to come back
>it got Bendis
I fucking hate the state of DC right now
>everyone has problematic hair
oh no no no no no
That's Cosmic Boy? Cosmic Boy is a hispanic now? Its Mexican Apollo and Black Mightnighter all over again.
Asian, maybe?
Too brown to be Asian.
look at the top of his head
This won't even outlast Threeboot.
Kinda squinty eyes though, and they could be aiming for south asian.
Threeboot lasted for 50 issues, which seems like a lot for the bald fuck.
Yeah, the old designs were better
The whole fandom is divided about their hair. Imra having short hair is seen as an empowering style, but as soon as too male characters that are hot yaoi bait share the same shitty sidecuts as hers, then it's wrong, cause their not fuckable anymore.
There are a lot of brown Asians
Imra used to have basically a buzz cut so her hair is actually longer now even if it's also weird as shit. But Garth has a shaved mullet and there's no justifying that.
Out of all the redesigns, Imra is the only one so far that was unsexy. Shadow Lass, Lightning Lass and mysterious purple girl all show plenty of unnecessary skin despite us living in PC times. Does Sook just hate Imra?
>Saturn Girl's off-center look
That's the part that bugs me the most. The hairstyles will likely change with time, but having Saturn Girl's logo changed and moved to the shoulder throws me off. The others are easily to recognize immediately. On the other hand, it's made me realize what I actually dislike about was the lack of Cosmic Boy's traditional design cues more than anything else.
It also causes her entire costume to be unbalanced, which makes it look weird. It'd probably look better if the rest of it wasn't just red and ever so slightly darker red, but alas.
Just adding a little color in the middle would make a big difference. Even a bit of yellow would help, instead of two shades of red. The lack of her little saturn logo is weird, but I didn't realize just how much a change it would be to remove a logo in the middle of her costume.
Here's my take on the designs.
Changed Cos skin to look less ambiguously brown.
Gave Imra more skin to show to make her costume a little more interesting.
And edited Garth's shitty hair.
The design basically gives him an undercut mullet.
It could've been worse
Those brown Asians are either Middle Eastern or Filipino. They are Asian like Puerto Ricans are Mexican.
did they make them all gay, because they all look gay?
>implying half the team isn't already bisexual and sluts
Some of the problems with Irma's costume is still there, but adding some color by showing some skin does help break up the suit more. Still feels like she needs a little saturn or legion logo on her waist, though.
Just realized I don't care too much for Sook's detailed lines for Lightning Lad. Cosmic Boy's looks good, though.
yeah, but this isn't future hedonism, this is just plain hardgay.
I tried to stay faithful to the artist's "vision", but god. These should've been scrapped by Bendis if he knew better.
Yeah, hard to do much when the actual costumes are so bad. The only good things here are the things that Sook incorporated from the classic designs.
Reboot had the best designs, hands down. The individualized uniform look is just mwah!
Also, I just realized that none of the new designs have the Legion logo on them. Nor are the rings visible. That's... kinda gross.
It actually looks like LL might have a ring on his right hand middle finger. But yeah, kinda weird that we haven't seen it yet.
Ivan Reis fucking sucks (that's uncanny valley) and with Sinclair colors it never had a chance. Modern artists will make them look good.
It's possible the logo hasn't shown up yet if the book is starting with the new Legion's origin. Might be kinda interesting to see them work without flight rings or belts.
But would they have costumes or a reason to travel back in time to Superman if that was the case?
From what little I read, they're making it sound like this version of the legion came out of necessity or a response to something. So they could still have the costumes and whatever reason they have to time travel but are still not as organized as previous legions used to be.
Also, iirc, the early appearances of the legion didn't have the logo, rings, or belts yet until later, so it's not completely out there of an idea.
It's Bendis idea so he'll screw it up no matter how much sense it seems to make.
Though wonder if that will have something to do with Brainy, since he usually invents their time travel devices and at least one half of the flight rings.
Be afraid, be very afraid
Oh, I don't have faith in Bendis, but the lack of legion logos is something I would reserve judgement for.
And yeah, it's more than likely Brainiac 5 that will handle the flight and other device stuff, possibly with help from others. I think belts were originally made by either Superboy or Supergirl, though, so who knows about that.
He'll probably do that, but it feels like his origin and stuff would have to shift around quite a lot if the Legion isn't tied to Brande anymore.
Then there's Lyle, who at least came up with the ring designs in the reboot. It's going to be interesting to see what Bendis does with him since he was gay in the reboot and ambiguously gay in the pre-boot but was replaced by a black guy.
vietnamese, laotian, cambodian, thailandese are brown. The okinawan are brown. The hmong are brown. Plenty of "Asian" people are brown.
>No one gives a shit about the Legion of Super-Boomer fags, fag.
Fixed it fren.
>they had a cartoon in 2006
That literally no one watched
>They are Asian like Puerto Ricans are Mexican
That makes no sense. Mexico is a country, Asia is a continent.
It's always been my headcanon that Imra secretly harbors a huge crush on Ayla, and keeps workshopping ways to get both twins in bed at once. We're talking serious research into Winathian cultural practices.
Why would Imra show that much skin?
All the female characters are displaying skin, but hers. And her design happens to be the worst of them all.
She's the team mum though.
>implying fake geeks know a damn thing about best girl beyond the stupid Grell era costume
Don't bother, user. They're the same idiots who are STILL whining about Tifa's boobs, while neglecting literally everything else about her.
Skin tight outfits might as well be considered skimpy though. I'll correct myself, that I really just mean lack of feminine features is the problem with the new design of Imra.
She doesn't really lack feminine features. See, I actually like sidecuts, but they work best on punk-y characters like Crush and Lord Dominator. Imra though? She's just not that kind of person, so that hairstyle doesn't work for her at all. And nothing about the new design screams "team mom", like most of her designs do to at least some degree.
>Skin tight outfits might as well be considered skimpy though.
Also this.
We can talk about femininity, skimpiness, etc, but I think in the case of this Irma, everything just comes down to it not being all that good a design.
What is it with Bendis and retarded ass hairstyles?
Perhaps, funny thing is when news broke out about the new legion, fans where speculating on the comments that they made her transgender. Some where even ok to accept it funnily enough. She looks like a woman to me, even with the bad hair, but you can't blame them.
What is Shvaughn gonna do if Imra steals the translight?
She's too busy getting cuked by Dream girl to worry about that.
I present to you exhibit B
I mean, such a thing wouldn't be at all out of place in the 31st century, especially since there are at least two canon methods of genderswapping. Also, I wouldn't be able to complain about my waifu having a dick.
As an aside, I think they can easily fix Shvaughn Erin by having her be trans, but without the stalker bullshit. Like, she can just take the gender bender pills because that's just the way she is.
degenerates, all of you
Watch how the 32nd century will have a Trump stand-in who's the villain of their story.
That had that years ago before it was cool
Did the Reboot cast age over time?
Those are pretty big for a sixteen year old
It feels like that kind of stuff should be a non-issue that far into the future, at least on planets populated by humans or their descendants. It could still be something that's an issue on say Orando or Colu, but we don't need to have it as something that comes up all the time and becomes some large thing.
Tinya's was the biggest
Everyone is rightfully terrified of what Bendis is going to do to Nura. She tends to get shat on hard because a lot of writers seem to hate her for... existing, ostensibly. So many people miss that the entire point of her is that she's beauty AND brains, not just some stupid bimbo.
... Oh god, what's he gonna do to Mysa? We might be looking at another Scarlett Witch situation.
It was a different time...
But didn't he also partially reform and sacrifice his life for the Legion?
No way a character that politically incorrect or morally ambiguous could be done - they'd make him a straight up racist, sexist, everythingphobic ultra-cartoonish strawman villain instead.
She was such a slut
We won't know until we see her redesign. Fingers cross it's not shit.
Funny. I actually think if they made Trump looks like Kirt, it will be flattery.
>they'd make him a straight up racist, sexist, everythingphobic ultra-cartoonish strawman villain instead.
That is basically what Earth-Man was portrayed.
Shadow lass could fuck the racism out of him like last time. That tends to fix bigots in real life.
>Orando
Possibly, since their whole thing is being medieval. Jeckie herself would be cool, but kind of awkward about it.
>Colu
Nah, coluans would either be aggressively apathetic to anything gender/race related, or they'd practically flaunt how woke they are.
No, the only world which would be shitters about it is Daxam. Expect a retread of Laurel's arc from Reboot, only now with trans and gay people involved.
In another continuity Salu would he squished inbetween those
"Once you go blue you never go back"
Question for the thread. How long does the Losh vol 4/Legionnaires bi-monthly story thing last for? I've read from around 1978-1994 of the original Losh, but stopped at the Reboot.
Some of that was because I didn't want to look up issues of two ongoings to properly follow the story.
Is reboot worth reading if I was attached to the OG LoSH and liked them being adults?
Really starting to wish we got Maxime Garbarini's designs
To be perfectly honest, it was a bit hard to believe that particular face-turn. Like, dude was borderline cartoonish levels of villainy, and yet we're supposed to buy that he's seen the error of his ways? Ehhhhh.
Once you go blue, no others will do.
Tasmia apparently got pussy so good it can defeat prejudice. One of the lesser known powers of the Shadow Champion.
Perfection
I think it could be a thing on Colu if they're portrayed as very emotionless and apathic. Ie they'd basically view any relationship as unnecessary, but hetero relationships can at least be used to produce children if an artificial womb isn't available so they're slightly more useful than gay relationships, so they'd view the latter as a complete waste of time and energy.
Daxam sounds about right though.
Dude was drawing Asian Cos before it was cool
But not in that one, because while large tits were totally fine they were under no circumstances allowed to portray the characters as gay (except that one time the editor didn't catch it).
Probably not. I started LoSH reading the Reboot and enjoy it. But then i pass to the OG LoSH and never look back.
Brainiac 5 has to invent that shit for them first. I wonder what ridiculous haircut they'll give him. Beehive?
His hair is slicked back and normal but he has an ugly crown.
That's only until a wacky lab mishap gives him his true Bendis hair. Also, picture?
To wear as Kara "princess carries" him.
Maybe the sides are shaved but hidden.
Shitty quality pic, but it'll do.
Well, it's not the ugliest tiara in the universe, but I don't see what purpose it serves if he's already got magic LEDs on his waist.
They should just bite the bullet and give him back his reboot upgrade face bling though. They clearly realized having stuff on his face makes him more interesting visually and suits his 'power'.
Is that fan art or done by Sook/another DC artist?
Art is by Denise Zhang.
The face stuff was neat, even if the whole upgrade plot was weird as shit. It's pretty weird for him to have the Brainiac symbol on his face with all it symbolises, but they could probably make up some lore to justify it.
>nostalgic about the 80's
yuck
Yeah those costumes aren't a good look at all.
Thanks, its really neat
Yeah, and they seemed to realize that around when Legion Lost ran and they more or less dumped the lame upgraded name thing. Being able to use his force field psychically is also much better than fiddling with a belt.
If you search up their name on Twitter, they're doing more new LoSH fanart right now. (Totally see them shipping new Brainy and Mon-el in the future)
I like the idea of the forcefield tech basically being a family heirloom for the Doxs, but him absorbing it was definitely an improvement and something that should come back in the future.
According to Bendis, this might be what the new Legion's world would look like.
Yeah, I took a look and it's dope. And a weird ship, but I'll accept it.
Its far more practical then Brainy/sups. Mon and him live in the same timeline together.
New ship has been confirmed and accepted.
Worse case scenario is that he makes the TV butchery of Dream Girl canon and make Dreamy trans
Best case scenario is that Bendis kills her off-page for drama with White Witch, since Mysa's only major story is her being Mordru's abused ex-wife who he tormented and terrorized and emotionally destroyed to the point that Mysa spent all of V4 as a PTSD, having panic attacks and shitting/pissing herself every time she heard a loud noise.
The '94 dips in and out of having a situation where you have to read both books to follow the plot.
V4 #62-82 and '95-96 Annuals and Legionnaires #19-40 and '95-'96 Annuals are basically one big storyline.
With V4 #83-100 and Legionnaires #41-56, both books are relatively stand-alone with a group of Legion members stuck in the past (V4) and Legionnaires dealing with the remaining team members in the future picking up the pieces.
Afterwords, when the past Legion members return home in Legion #100, the books resume requiring you read both until the end of the Dark Circle story (which many consider to be the jumping off point, since the writers stopped giving a shit at that point).
After the Dark Circle storyline, the writers made the book stand-alone again (IE you could read V4 without having to read Legionnaires and so forth until the very end, when DnA take over. The last four months, the books resume being incestuous in terms of having to read both books and then it goes back to being one book from that point on.
As for quality; it's pretty decent until the Dark Circle story and then it goes downhill. As for DnA's run; Legion Lost/Legion of the Damned/Widening Rifts are garbage and you are better served just skipping straight to Legion Worlds, which is when DnA stopped being so fucking grim dark and fucking shit up/killing characters for shock value and replacing cool characters with lady gimp bug ladies they want to fuck.
Any ship with Brainy involving a character with some similarities to Supergirl doesn't seem all that weird, really, powers included.
True, but him and Supes is mostly limited to the cartoon verse.
This has some nice potential though, contrasting personalities and all.
Boring.
On a side note; anyone fearful that he'll bring back the god-awful reboot origin for Wildfire where he's a black guy merged with a white guy and "drake burroughs" is both their last names (with the black guy's name first)?
Even DnA couldn't make that turd shine (though they 100% half-assed it by simply having everyone ignore said origin, even though it featured the 94 Reboot version of Saturn Girl being mind rapey and preventing Shadow Lass from mercy killing the gesalt-fire like they begged the Legion to do)
No, because I had repressed that. But hopefully Bendis won't remember or even read that part.
I don't know, but I hope they bring back Saturn Girl being an ultra badass with poor ethics and just mind controlling the whole team if she thinks it's necessary or fun.
According to Jim Shooter himself, Querl is no bottom slut. He probably gets off topping others physically stronger than him.
Obviously, he's got dom written all over him. And judging by how many people he's been teased with his also a bit of a slut.
His most submissive setting is power bottom (reboot Lyle only).
That's super fucking garbage.
Imra works best as she was pre-reboot: loving team mom who will burn a motherfucker alive WITHOUT her powers, if you fuck with her friends and family.
There is a reason WHY Universo put her in a prison camp instead of just brainwashing her, in the Universo Saga. She will fucking hunt you to the end of the earth if you hurt the people she loves and it will never occur to her to use her telepathic powers to fuck you up, until after she's covered in her enemy's blood from beating you to death.
I don't know, I think he and Lyle would at least switch. They're both pretty dominant and competitive towards each other and would probably bring that into their sex life, even if Lyle would probably be more subtle about it than Brainy.
Hard to top a guy that goes invisible.
Judging by how the new Mon-el looks like a femboy, brainy is totally topping him.
Mon-El is too nice for Brainy to not top him.
Sounds about right. It's other characters that are easier to lead around. Especially supers.
Oh how the tables have turn.
It's weird that he's inspired by the destruction of 5YL.
I want to know who even told him about that dead timeline in the first place.
Maybe he watched a YouTube video about it
Two words: Mark Waid.
Waid played a major role in the launch of V4 as an editor and helped hook Keith Giffen up with the Beirbaum cancer duo. And Waid publicly stated, proudly at that, that the 5YL relaunch "saved" the book for Silver Age "Adventure Comics era Legion is the only canon one, everything after Adventure Comics #380, but especially everything Levitz did, was non-canon blasphemy" faggots like him.
Also, 5YL has has Margaret Thatcher as evil President of Earth and the Dominators (the ultimately evil subversive race of aliens) secretly ruling via Not-Thatcher. That probably appeals to Bendis, who most likely will create his own OC stand-in for Trump* and use the Dominators as a stand in for Russia, to emulate that running storyline.
*I know the Legion has their own Trump stand-in, but DnA already had him (via Ra's Al Ghul killing him and stealing his identity) as President of Earth. Plus Bendis wants his god-damn royalty money, hence an Donut Steel replacement.
I watched it
Well, this doesn't look so ba-
>enlargens it
Dammit.
>LINES LINES LINES
>random patches of material all over the place
>crotch cutouts
>in the 30th century, everybody has a disease that makes them start balding from the sides of the head
Why do they all seem to have that mohawk buzzcut combo?
>they'd make him a straight up racist, sexist, everythingphobic ultra-cartoonish strawman villain instead.
That's literally what Earth-Man was, you fucking moron.
>brown Asians are either Middle Eastern or Filipino
Uuuuuh, no.
Me too.
To be hones, I don't see why everyone in the future isn't pansexual, specially when you take aliens, particularly non-humanoid ones, into account.
He's Braalian.
I unironically love that look; it implies that the hang-ups of this era don't all carry over to 1000 years from now.
Real talk, it's a thousand years from now, where nobody cares anymore. Hell, even Winema dresses fairly skimpy a lot of the time, and she exists purely to be a bureaucratic obstacle.
I'm still bitter Sneckie and Val didn't hook up in Reboot. We need some good wholesome xeno action in this franchise.
"Once you go blue, no others will do."
>god-awful reboot origin for Wildfire
Oh my jesus, that hurt me to read.
They look bad but the positive thing is that the writing will be even worse.
A little from column A, a little from column B.
>good wholesome xeno action
My man.
There's only a few interspecies couples in LOSH.
>Tasmia and Lar
Both barely count as aliens.
>Mysa and Blok
Theirs is more of a courtly/ambiguously platonic thing.
>Dawnstar and Wildfire
Y'know what? I never quite bought their angst. This is the DCU, which is full of wacky supertech, literal magic, and god bullshit. They could absolutely find a way to fuck.
>pic
>Tyroc
I'd bitch about how he's guaranteed to be here, but Retroboot managed to give him some dignity, so whatever.
>I never quite bought their angst.
Yup, and Threeboot Brainy kinda made that moot with his and Dream Girl's thing anyway. Sure, it's weird, but if you really wanna bang its evidently not that much of an issue.
this is unironically better than op pic
>why would the closed off telepath not show skin
you're all dumb
chuck/lluornu? though tripsapliens are just 3x humans
if they had kids would they divide into three? what if it didn't? instant death?
Like, Drake can't get a skin suit that has magical nerve endings that can interface with his energy form? Dawny can't use her cosmic tracking powers to find someone who can help her fuck her boyfriend?
You've got both Querl, and Mysa around, just ask them to cook something up for you. Both of them would understand.
Presumably, carggite fetuses also split into three, each instance somehow remaining in the womb of each of the mother's instances when she splits.
Mysa would understand, Querl would half understand but complain about it the entire time.
Half-carggites can split, see Phase/Phantom Girl
Nope, just designing for Hollywood
To break the monotony of her costume.
so give her a costume that isn't monotonous
in fact, there isn't some edict that she has to wear a skintight suit. make up some lore that all titanians dress like crazy wizards since they prioritise the mental aspect over physical use or something like that
They're fine, almost good even. I think people are just kneejerk anti-Bendis
They look fine. Saturn Girls outfit is actually pretty great
>They're fine, almost good even. I think people are just kneejerk anti-Bendis
Bendis pls.
Saturn Girl sucks.
>I dont like it because I'm young
HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH
>Have an opinion that's not fire and brimestone hate
>must be Bendis
>>I dont like it because I'm young
>I dont like Legion of Super-gays.
>>Have an opinion that's not fire and brimestone hate
>>must be Bendis
Bendis you sucks.
No one gives a shit about Bendis Anal-rape heros.
My boy Wildfire is looking good though
Garth has a flight ring on what are people talking about. You might be able to make one out on Wildfire too
Looks like the Legion of Bi...
God i'm still fucking pissed about Mon-El getting cucked like that
I have no idea who that is supposed to be in between Mon-El and Imra. Also is that supposed to be Light Lass Ayla between Cham and Cos?
>I have no idea who that is supposed to be in between Mon-El and Imra.
Shrinking "Literal" Violet
Rokk chad striding his way into Lydda's ovaries while wearing nothing but a corset will never not be the maximum STYLE of the Legion.
>Reboot had the best designs, hands down. The individualized uniform look is just mwah!
Completely agree. Personal touches on a standard template for a team-forward book is good design work.
Absolutely nothing wrong with them.
>replacing cool characters with lady gimp bug ladies they want to fuck.
Hey man, Shikari was a fine replacement for Dawnstar, who's whole backstory was fucking insane Ancient Aliens nonsense.
Shikari was a cute.
Not knowing anything about them they look like a bunch of jackasses.
you're pretty close. The one on the right is a rapist
what's with the shaved heads? like don't get me wrong it's not a bad thing but...they over did this here.
The shitty haircuts are THAT shitty desu
It's one of those things that makes the whole thing irredeemable
