Superior Octopus was ditched for the out-of-universe reason that it's not as marketable as Superior Spider-Man. In universe the reason is the Hydra affiliation. And it looks like Spencer is tossing around a lot of stuff with the villains. Kraven is dead (and replaced with his son/clone) and Mysterio is dead (but then shown on the cover of the next issue). Otto is probably best left to his current status for now.

On the one hand it's hard to fake a death when you're stabbed to death by demon centipedes from Hell but then again he seems to be a reluctant underling of a demon that already brought him back to life before and could do it again.

The black webbing is just his ink-shooters, which he had as Superior Octopus.

I can't believe Otto and West Coast Avengers is such a great team-up.

As Much as I like Superior Ock, it makes people think he's still a Villain. Being a Spider-Character helps with people getting with him being a hero.

I quite like how the heroes acknowledge that she's a weirdo given all the meta commentary she does, but still take it in stride because her advice ends up being useful or nice most of times.
