Its hardly a new idea. Going as far back as Ancient Greece, we had the story of Tiresias who gets cursed into the form of a woman for 7 years.
Later on the Gods have an argument about who has it better in bed, men or women, and they go to Tiresias to settle the matter because he had been both. Tiresias doesn't want to give an answer because he doesn't want to piss off either of the gods, but he is eventually forced to admit that women have better orgasms. Hera, having lost the bet, curses him blind because she is a huge bitch. Zeus can't undo it, so he gives Tiresias the gift of precognition instead to make up for it.
Thats the backstory on how Tiresias became an oracle, but the relevant part of this conversation is that wondering how it would feel if you had different junk is a pretty obvious question and hardly one people started asking recently. If you had lifelike VR that let you try it out at little more than the cost of a playstation and a video game, pretty much everyone would do it at least once.
