Nah, I've always kinda liked it. Mainly due to the level of detail that Bermejo puts into it. You can tell exactly how it works and how everything fits together, and it looks as though it would actually be practical, if a bit complicated.

Why stop there, take all the Hellblazer issues and make it canon with this, by saying that at the end, Batman became the Joker (it's just make up that he's wearing), then he becomes the Bruce Wayne/Stanley Manor of the later Hellblazer issues, which explains why he's gleeful about mentioning that Jason died with a smile on his face.

They're just fragments to show that Bruce made the deal with Enchantress for nothing - his parents weren't pure or particularly worthy of redemption, the tragedy is that a sentimental boy never moved on. Batman is damned to hold the world to ideals it can't live up to. Ironically sealed by him dying but the Joker surviving.

The problem is that Azzarrello is trying too hard to be obtuse with his narrative, so this stuff gets lost in its own delivery.
