It's not a kids movie
Also you can put whatever you want in a Hollywood circlejerk movie
It was a different time.
it had soul
Because no one saw it
which is a shame, because it was a good movie
It won the oscar at least.
yes it is
It was basically a passion project by a studio with a shitload of clout.
Decided to skip getting a soft drink when I went to see this in a theater, terrible decision.
t. academy award voter
Thirsty, brother?
Bill nighy brings an absolute quality to his roles that you just don't get elsewhere. Nobody else sounds like you could cut yourself if they raise their voice. Dude is sharp
Not the mouse and was made by a team with passion as its focus rather than profit.
>Bunch of Youtube reviewers finally bringing to light this gem of a movie to the masses
Finally, a means to which we can use e-celebs as a force for good
Why did the lizard girl have tits
That's where she hides her extra water.
They didn't show any lizard tits
Was this not heavy advertised and promoted in the us.
In the UK it was ads on every bus stop and even ha dseveral TV spots.
Johnny Deep defo helped get it attention here
>e-celebs like it
>movie becomes a cult classic
>Yea Forums now starts hating the movie, deeming it reddit for being popular
The best part?
GODDAMN MAN WITH NO NAME TRULY BASED
The whole final part of the movie when Rango gets back in town is really amazing.
Hi Cosmo
I wish they'd got Clint to voice him.
Am I the only one who saw this in cinema?
I've been talking about it on here for several years.
How so
Gore Verbinski directed the first 3 Pirates of the Caribbean, which made five bajillion dollars collectively. This gave him the kind of goodwill that enabled him to basically do whatever he wanted to - so he made Rango. Then, he directed The Lone Ranger, and that goodwill immediately evaporated since that movie lost a bajillion dollars.
I feel like there is a bit too much going on.
But I have only seen it once.
The Tragedy Of Man was the true underdog of the 2011 Oscars. It was one of the best animated movies EVER made, a masterful adaptation of an epic of the level that many animated works never even attempt to rise to. It was sinful to give the Oscar for the best animated movie to anything else that year. But, fortunately, we live in a timeline where the movie that won in that cathegory that year was pretty good and standout too. Though the sin of not giving The Tragedy Of Man the award is still unforgiveable, the fact that Rango won allows to salvage it somewhat.
I agree
eh, you cant be great forever.
And it was the last non-Disney animated movie to win the Oscar until Spider-Verse came along.
The Tragedy of Man wasn’t submitted to begin with.

>It's not a kids movie
It's a cartoon.
Settle down, Kanye.
no. watched it at night, drove home around midnight, solidified the movies mood.
I remember when this released, there were so many upset reviews from parents because they assumed it was a kids movie because it was animated.
same parents complained about Sausage Party.
How is it not
Rango was the sheriff the whole time.
It's literally based off a dude who did drugs on the reg. Not created by, based on.

Y're funny lookin'.
I always figured Clint just sounded too old at the time for the character they were depicting. He already sounded real gravely in Gran Torino.
Now that I think about it, Clint and Arnold are the only big actors alive that haven’t been in an animated film
My friend's dad helped with the music in this film
Super neat to know I have at least some connection to one of my favorite films, no matter how tiny it may be.
I know you are, but what am I?
I'd still do her, though
>You love to see it
e-celebs recommending good shit won't make them good
it had ads from what i remember but it wasnt the mouse
was that the best that kind of scene has ever been; i mean when a human appears in a movie that's about animals and stuff
ANSWER ME!!!!

this film is great and extremely underrated
No dispute there, Bill really brought the character to life. He managed to make a Gatling gun tailed rattlesnake genuinely menacing despite the goofiness of the concept.
>Cartoons are purely for children
You're the problem. You're the the fucking problem.
By your logic hentai is for children.
There's a whole fuck ton of shows and movies in a genre called adult animation
Who says a adult can't enjoy a cartoon?
>Thespians?! That's illegal in seven states!
My man
Rango is more mature in tone than the average kid's movie, but I don't remember anything particularly inappropriate for children. But why does the distinction matter? It's a good movie.
I'd love it if this movie got a great Blu-ray release that also included the reference footage that the animators used for the film.
When making the movie, instead of having the actors in a room reading their lines, director Gore Verbinski chose to have the scenes blocked out and physically portrayed by the actors as they delivered their lines, filming the action on a blank set.
There's not much available footage but there's enough to prove that it exists, and it would be a fun novelty to watch the movie in this way, similar to how you can watch an animatic version of "Fantastic Mr. Fox" on the Criterion BD/DVD release.
One state had a hissy fit and tryed to get it R instead of PG just because it had scenes of smoking
Do they not let their kids watch movies produced with the Hays Code in mind? All those movies for decades were sanitized for the "think of the children"s and even they allowed smoking. Quite extensively.
How tall would you say Rango is, eleven inches? Or is it relative to his situation?
>Brainlet wojaks
Great argument
the terrible fucking jokes sure make it seem so
But I liked the Lone Ranger
Smoking has been essentially banned from media in the last couple years. They're trying to remove it from public consciousness. I was surprised to see Joker smoking in the trailer.
Crap I don't even remember what it was about. All got is depp pulling out that nail with his fingers and the indians saying he's nuts.
>Spider-Verse
>Marvel
technically still disney if you want to be picky about it
me in the background
He's not trying to argue with, he's straight up insulting you
