Did DC white-wash Jinx?
Nicholas Flores
Zachary Nelson
Yes.
Leo Ortiz
Yes. I'm surprised people wouldn't outraged.
Dominic Allen
Should add lipstick on.
Ayden Cooper
To be fair, comic book Jinx is an extremely minor villain in the grand scheme of things.
Most people are more familiar with the cartoon version, which is basically an OC.
Joshua Myers
It was a different time that miraculously got grandfathered into the TTG reboot. Beast Boy is voiced by a white guy.
David Howard
Beat me to it
Man, I love bald girls
Blake Butler
>Beast Boy is voiced by a white guy.
So? It's not like he's black
>um, he's black coded
Oh, fuck off, he's green
James Carter
Give comic Jinx pink hair and an actual personality
It's really weird, the cartoons manage to give the Fearsome 5 personalities and they have none in the comics.
Jeremiah Clark
Hard to say, since the show never gives any clear indication of Jinx' ethnicity. She could very well still be Indian.
What IS bullshit is that they gave her hair. Bald girls are absurdly rare in fiction. For fucks sake.
Cute!
Caleb Green
>implying she isn't brown under that gray
Brandon Jenkins
Can we somehow combine the two designs into something new?
Alexander Lopez
I'd whitewash her if you obtain my implying.
Camden Nelson
Here you go.
Benjamin Lee
Isn't she Egyptian?
I had a stupid idea years ago
>Jinx was born in the middle east
>Being a girl sucked, being a metahuman girl sucked even harder
>Would be seen as a witch (funny given her powers)
>Her father years ago salong with others stoned a girl for exhibiting powers after healing someone who would have died otherwise
>He realizes as his daughter is changing into grey skin/pink eyes and hair she'll be killed
>Has a change of heart, he and her mom hide her and apply for visas to America, much more accepting there
>Her uncle finds out, he was always jealous of his brother's success in life and rats them out
>Mom and Dad are killed, Jinx survives thanks to her powers
>Escapes the country in an underground railroad type deal for metahumans and other persecuted minorities
>She illegally enters America after a while of fending on the streets/countryside on the way there
>Has no real skills so she joins gangs to get by
>Meets the rest of the 5
She'd be a former Muslim here since she lost faith with her family being killed and the prejudice she experienced since then
Dylan Hernandez
Not bad, is a shame the weakest version of the Teen Titans is the one from the comic. Not the old comics, more like everything from the 00s onwards.
Asher Lewis
Greywash, like with Raven.
They were both kind of ambiguous.
But I sort of thought Jinx was supposed to be a Japanese Wtich since I realized she has her hair just like Rita Repulsa which I assume is a Japanese witch thing but I can't seem to find it anywhere else besides Juri and sorta witchhunter robin.
Thomas James
Well I wasn't really talking about backstory but more "Hey could a drawfag mop something up real quick?"
Easton Moore
Thanks. I really need to read up more on the comics.
Expanding on my idea more
>Original her dad was also an Imam for extra irony
>She knows Arabic/etc. fluently, can recite the Quran by heart while doing other tasks but she has an ingrained dislike/hate of it now so she wont
>None of her teammates know this until they come across someone they need to interrogate (Gizmo forgot his translator) when she steps in
I know but I've been sitting on this idea for a while now and wanted to get it off my chest
Elijah Taylor
It's all good
David Phillips
Has Jinx even appeared in anything lately?
And I of course mean comic Jinx, the bald and brown one.
Jackson Perez
Horn hair is a Disney witch thing.
Tyler James
Jinx deserves to be in a better show than TT.
Alexander Wilson
Its a good concept, maybe her goth look is something she adopted while living homeless in the city.
Jason Perry
She was in Titans last year.
Liam White
That and her powers included a mutation making her grey and pink
Jacob Cruz
Born and raised in africa.
Eli Morgan
White people can be born and raised in Africa
Gavin Howard
no, they clown-washed her.
Logan Thomas
Benjamin Anderson
Best Jinx
Andrew Edwards
Indian!Jinx is incredibly fugly. I cannot believe someone actually likes let alone prefers that design or any based on it, SJW trolls excepted of course.
Luke Lewis
I want a cartoon with bald, brown Jinx.
Jeremiah Garcia
the duality of man
Jayden Edwards
Black and White make grey. So Jinx is half black.
William Thompson
Didn't they just merge her with Shimmer because apparently two villain girls on the same team was too hard?
Hudson Gray
Did they age-wash her?
Jackson Green
She wouldn't look that bad if she had some hair
Luis Torres
>not liking bald girls
Adrian Jenkins
>Indian
She's clearly Egyptian.
John Reed
Once upon time, you would get banned on Yea Forums for claiming there is a white Black Panther.
Elijah Collins
what's the difference
Charles White
>Captain America
>Caring about diversity
He was raised in peak American segregation utopia when the country was 90% white
Liam Miller
>Born and raised in africa.
to white parents
Jonathan Ward
Based and redpilled
Cringe
Alexander Brooks
Would her cuteness be too much for you to not fall for her trap?
Nolan Ross
Why not a bit of both?
Nicholas Young
there's a lot of fanart combining her looks but I kinda want her to stay bald
i dunno why
Kayden Bell
That means you have good taste
Robert Wood
i kinda want cartoon jinx to grow into the comics version but keep the same personality but that'll never happen
Mason Allen
Titans jinx was such a fuckin qt
Alexander Mitchell
Here's another one
Asher Barnes
And might as well post the rest of these
Dominic Stewart
Terrible.
Actually pretty nice.
Carson Davis
Lincoln Carter
Last one I have
Leo Long
Racewashing literally doesn't matter if the ethnicity isn't crucial/doesn't matter in context to the character or if the character is not really bound to a specific cult classic look
Jinx has neither a rational reason to be a specific color nor does she have a really necessary default look.
But in the end fans decide, really
Isaiah Richardson
did she use grey makeup and dye her hair pink to hide her indian heritage?
Sebastian Sullivan
That doesn't mean he is pro-segregation.
Christ, where do you "Cap SHOULD be a white nationalist" folks come from? That is not his character.
Dominic Robinson
Okay but more importantly I want Jinx to be barefoot
Jackson Walker
Looks like she could be South Asian or North African.
Bentley Collins
Nice to see my handiwork appreciated. Reminds me that I had one more edit to finish.
Thomas Mitchell
WHAT THE FUCK ALL THESE YEARS I THOUGHT THAT WAS A HAT
Grayson Davis
There's a middleground between being in favor of diversity quotas and being a white nationalist lol
Jason Myers
Hey mother fucker have you heard of of CAPETOWN!
Jackson Sullivan
Cause you a libtard who want to see anything which is not familiar.
Oliver Reyes
Both are fine
Liam Hernandez
huh well would you look at that
Nathaniel Anderson
>Join the Defenders
Why not go the whole 9 yards and find the JSA?
Dominic Long
I have actually been looking for this pic for a long ass time. Freaking love Composite Jinx. Thanks, user
Henry Hughes
The near perfect comprise.
Julian Walker
>If I phrase not being a racist douchefuck as something bad then I don't have to admit I'm a moron lol
Nathan Smith
Green is “black coded”, look at Piccolo.
Lucas Cox
Clearly the answer here is to have bald Indian Jinx but she wears a wig most of the time because she's self-conscious about not having any hair
Or alternatively (and quite honestly a better idea) is to amalgam the two designs like here into here
Noah Sullivan
They're all beautiful
Carson Nguyen
I miss the socks
Julian Jenkins
Holy shit.
Charles Thompson
Twin ponytails would look better
Luke Bell
Look like shit
Camden Long
Dike...
Elijah Howard
Why does it matter? the dubbing is good
Jayden Adams
Bland
Jacob Reyes
>Twin ponytails
So pigtails?
Dylan Campbell
Too cute to not arrest
Brayden Ward
Piccolo isn't black.
Nathaniel Baker
>Green is "black coded"
Hulk and She-Hulk aren't black.
Blake Perry
Why do you people pretend to read comics?
Ryan Jenkins
because comics aren't written in stone and origins are retconned every day.
>Urdu
All that implies is that is the language she was taught to speak. She has no other origin story outside of "found in a S.T.A.R. lab".
That confirms she's about as Indian as Stephen Strange or Indiana Jones.
Ryan Robinson
Her Who's Who profile literally confirms she was born in India and it was written by Wolfman himself. There's no argument.
Liam Perry
No seriously, why?
Do you think that the show from 2003 made a mistake when they made their version of Jinx a grey skinned woman with horn-like hair?
Or should they have looked into their crystal ball and used the bald, brown-skinned design from 2004?
Jose Wright
hey that's pretty neat
but, consider the following--
>Born to wealthy Egyptian merchant
>Mother died in childbirth, baby born with pink eyes and bad health.
>Townfolk consider it a cursed child of ill omen.
>Wealthy merchant father refuses to let child die, spends entire fortune looking for a cure for her tiny dying body.
>Sacrificing everything, the last of his monies leads him to The Himalayan Mountains where a secret order of "healers" is said to practice.
>Child is passed off to mysterious priest that recognizes the child as a metahuman with an attunement to the mystic arts.
>Father dies of cold/exhaustion, child is raised as an acolyte in the order- a priestess in-training.
Work out how she gets imprisoned by STAR Labs from there.
Nicholas Long
That isn't grey skin. And don't pretend the show that made Starfire a stick animu girl with straight hair cared about the source material.
Jonathan Campbell
>BUT MUH WHO'S WHO PROFILE
>it's literally nothing
Jinx is clearly an afterthought with no clearly established origin to speak of. She's had more characterization in cartoons than Wolfman could've ever dreamed of.
>There's no argument.
Can't argue a negative. Bald bitch's backstory is a vacant lot begging for development.
Dylan Nelson
Yeah not sure why I phrased it like that
Jaxon Turner
That is grey skin. It's skin, it's grey.
No one's saying the show is accurate to the source material. I'm just saying if you actually knew what the fuck you were talking about in regards to the character you would see where the cartoon design came from.
hey retard, you're arguing with someone who's making an entirely different point to you and doesn't give a shit what you're saying. Fuck off.
Benjamin Ross
>Twin ponytails would look better
go back to bed, Derrick.
Carter Reyes
To be fair, every cartoon based on a comic book from the 00s was "let's have something that is informed by the source material, but not slavishly aping everything from the comics" as a way fo distancing themselves from stuff like BTAS and X-Men. The Batman, X-Men: Evolution, Spectacular Spider-Man... hell, even Justice League and JLU played pretty fast and loose with continuity. Static Shock changed quite a bit, and that was made by Dwayne McDuffie!
William Cox
>you're arguing with someone who's making an entirely different point to you
You've already lost that argument regardless.
The cartoon and it's designs clearly chose not to adhere to the comics and have only veered further away as time goes on.
Also, she's clearly a shade of taupe.
Julian Moore
I always thought that Jinx was from somewhere in europe with the whole "Unseelie fey" aesthetic she had going on
Aiden Martin
Dominic Jackson
looks like she's halfway between the cartoon and the comics versions, like she's almost grown out of her kid look into an adult
i like it a lot
Oliver Bailey
What's holding down the bottom of her top?
Jordan Bell
Could you somehow add her having a lipstick on,
Tyler Collins
barefoot edit when
