The school seasons weren't -as- good as the earlier seasons.

How so? The movie was a great way to give the show a satisfying conclusion while still leaving the show open-ended: The Ed’s and the neighborhood kids all becoming friends and Johnny becoming the main ‘angonist’ who wants revenge on the Ed’s

Call me crazy, but I wanted to see a lot more with Eddy's brother. The entire movie was beautifully choreographed, don't get me wrong. But, just having Eddy see his brother and then getting pummeled to a pulp wasn't satisfying to me, I wanted the reason why he left the house or why he managed to fit an entire fucking car into his room then lock it up for Eddy to discover it.

Agreed on the Eds’ flanderization. But I loved how they fixed it in the movie with Ed using his brain to knock out Eddy’s brother, Edd willing to get dirty to save Ed and Eddy from the mud, and Eddy admitting that everything he said about his brother was a lie and genuinely apologized to the other kids.

Taking away the eternal summer setting was a major mistake, and I actually feel like they made Ed TOO dimwitted near the end.

My only legit complaint is the episode titles making it hard to remember what scams happened in them.

When I was a kid I watched the pilot and thought it looked weird, so I never watched it and changed the channel when it came on. I go back to try and watch it every now and then considering how much Yea Forums circlejerks about the show and have always found it kind of meh.

Nazz didn't add anything substantial to the show, and she's the only one you can remove entirely without completely changing its dynamic

Jimmy is such a little shit, every scene he's in I can barely stand the fucker. Even in episodes when they try to empathize him or make him be a moral support character he still comes off as fucking useless and annoying.

Nazz was a really dull character that didn't add much and should have been used more as a straight man
The episode with Eddy's middle name is actually pretty bland and in my opinion the worst episode of the show hands down
They sometimes reused audio clips, especially in season 1 and with Rolf for some reason
Season 1 is pretty rough all around, and while that's pretty typical it's very notable giving those episodes a rewatch next to later seasons

That's it for me. I don't think the school episodes should count as them fucking up, because CN literally forced them to do that, and they probably didn't want to stop the show after so much gold. The writing was definitely a bit weaker than the previous two seasons though and I think they made a good choice calling it there and opting for the movie instead of another season.

The fact that the Eds were complete pussies. The only time anyone even so much as had a shred of respect for any of them is the episode that Ed had a pebble in his shoe. Occasionally they would get a lucky shot in somewhere, but it just ended up with them getting screwed in the end anyway.

Not showing what was under double d's hat. Also the school episodes are when the show jumped the shark and sharply declined in quality.

It's better than Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra combined..

It's a small suburban setting that manages to fit all it's stories in a purposely limited setting. It reflects how when you were a kid just your neighborhood felt way bigger than it actually was. That's part of why Big Picture Show works so well because it breaks the characters free of the small setting we were used to and shows how big the world can truly get as the story reaches it's conclusion. We may grow up and everything might seem a lot smaller than it used to be, but there is a whole world out there.

I feel like you're missing the bigger picture. Not only were the Eds accepted by the kids, but in the end they conquered each of their biggest faults, faults which were holding them back from being respected by the kids. Ed used his brain (figuring out a way to knock out Eddy's brother), Double D actually grew a spine and stood up to him, and Eddy admitted fault and the fact that the reason he does all the things he did was just to be seen as cool by the other kids. This also caused the kids to realize how awful they have been to the Eds and thus they forgived the Eds and decided to start over.

I understand that, I just think it’s stupid their motivation is to be part of their friendgroup. The kids are assholes, the Eds’ only motivation is getting quarters for jawbreakers. That shouldn’t have changed.
