>Warner Bros. may develop a Swamp Thing film. “The initial goodwill around the DC Universe series and the backlash against the cancellation seems to have inspired the studio to consider doing something with the character on the big screen.” They’ve been told that this wouldn’t be a continuation of the show, however, and would feature a whole new cast. They also note that producer James Wan would be involved.
>Bloody Disgusting can confirm the validity of their report and the addition that it would be a horror movie, although it should be stressed that this report is astoundingly premature. As of this writing, it’s just internal chatter. With that said, there were creative differences behind the development of the DC Universe “Swamp Thing” series as it was initially developed as a straight-up horror show and eventually transformed into a procedural thriller. This is true. This is factual. Warner Bros. taking the character and doing their own thing without that of WBTV’s involvement is how we’ll get something special, something the character deserves after 30 years – especially if Conjuring Universe producer James Wan puts his stamp on it. bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3569072/theres-chance-well-get-swamp-thing-movie/
I would much rather a season 2 but a movie would be acceptable if they brought back the cast and crew. I wouldn't mind if it's not a direct continuation (maybe just used as a launching pad for the movie to skip retreading the origin shit) but if they don't keep the cast and crew this gesture is that of the jerk off variety.
Jayden Moore
So with a Trench movie and now Swamp Thing, who else from DC could work as a horror movie?
Benjamin Gonzalez
Yeah
Lincoln Moore
>James Wan Incredibly based.
Nathaniel Smith
afaik it could be trusted for horror movies.
Connor Lewis
Deadman Etrigan Constantine
Ayden Perry
Oh, that's good then.
Blake Moore
God no. Snyder needs to stay the fuck away from comic flicks in general. As does anyone that acts like they're too good to be doing an adaptation based on comics.
Exactly. This is just the studio realizing there's money to be made and wanting to take this interest in renewing the show to shit out a movie that will likely not be near as good.
Wyatt Robinson
>movie Would they still have Woodrue as the villain or would they just go straight to The Rot?
I still can't believe they are doing a horror movie based on Aquaman cannon fodder.
Jonathan Harris
Not interested.
John Jenkins
>We did it, Swamp bros! >Warner Bros. may develop a Swamp Thing film. >may
we did it
Lincoln Ramirez
I'd say if they aren't going to even bother bringing over the cast that it will be a whole separate entity all together and would likely feature Anton Arcane/The Rot as the villain.
Jaxon Sanders
>Deadman >Etrigan >Constantine If you add Swamp Thing, Zatanna and Batman, it will be a fine roster of Justice League Dark. It would be cool, if JLD will be a horror movie.
Aiden Parker
Oh, they'll do it. But it won't be related to the show in any way and will likely not happen for quite a while. With Wan attached, I'd imagine it will be decent at least but I'd much rather have the series keep going. I guess it's better than the alternative of it getting reintroduced as a CW paint by numbers show.
Austin Adams
Ressurection Man and I,Vampire could also be an option, I,Vampire was suppose to appear in the Swamp Thing show btw
Caleb Cruz
That's what I'd personally hope for. I'm hoping that if they go through with this at all that they at least bring Derek Mears back as Swampy and Crystal Reed as Aby Arcane. Then maybe do Constantine, Zatanna, and Etrigan solo flicks as well (also introducing others as side characters in the various solo flicks) before having them show up in Justice League Dark.
Isaac Turner
I want to be generous and say there ia a 12% likelihood he could, if someone put him on a VERY short leash.
Robert Davis
Wow congratulations DKeks
All your whining convinced WB to make another shitty movie instead of just giving it a second season
Oliver Evans
Reminder to do your part and report company warring faggotry
Brayden Hughes
pls no Just bring Wan back
Cooper Wilson
no
James Wan or Del Toro or Ang Lee should direct
Connor Flores
Wan will be busy with Swamp Thing, so it will probably be by someone who made a movie Wan produced. So it would probably Gary Dauberman who made Annabelle Comes Home and wrote It or Andy Muschietti, who directed it
Jose Robinson
>Wan will be busy with Swamp Thing Come again?
Luke Thomas
I mean Aquaman 2
Blake Torres
>Ang Lee Swamp Thing >after his Hulk You know what, I can kinda see it. Not a horror Swampy but a sad Swampy
Aaron Parker
They did one based on The Joker The fucking Joker for God's sake
Snyder needs to stay the hell away from Comics. Just because he did 300, which was a hyper-stylized niche pseudo-historical-fictionalization, that he could handle normal comics.
You DO need someome with a vision, but you don't want someone who's trying to "do THEIR version" at the expense of preserving the spirit of the comics, bullshit silliness and all.
Justin Young
Doubt it, specially after the death of his daughter. I think it's for the best if he retires.
Ryan Lewis
If they give it to Del Toro they may as well just let him do THE FUCKING MOVIE HE WAS PROMISED SINCE FUCKING 2012
Fuck off. If they did a movie based on Thanos you will be slobbering all over (((Based Marvel)))'s dick
Ian Jackson
Thanos is even worse than the Joker, literally an OC that overstayed its place after Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock runs.
Dylan Allen
his script is finished too
Gavin Ortiz
Probably because Based Marvel hasn't made a bad movie unlike DC which hasn't made a good one
Julian Cruz
I'm hoping that if they ever do a new constantine they get Keanu to try again, it's not like anyone remembers the first one, and he said he wants to play the character again.
Henry Moore
Just get James Wan or Alex Garland to direct it (he mentioned he wanted to do it) i'd go with Wan anyway
Colton Morgan
I'd love to see Kanu reprise that role, I don't mind his hair color but somehow the movie won't feel right if he doesn't chainsmoke. Iron Man 3 Iron Man 3.5: Homecoming
Kevin Taylor
Joker makes sense though. Now if it were a movie based on one of Joker's hired goons, you might have a point.
James Parker
Coming from a Marvel fan...Thor 2, Iron Man 2, and Captain Marvel were pretty mediocre imo. And theat's just sticking to MCU Marvel movies.
Grant it, yes, they have a better track record than DC but they're not fool proof. I'm actually bummed DC has more hits than misses as I'm also a fan of DC characters.
Jordan Brooks
>Swamp Thing >James Wan
Count me in.
Ethan Harris
>The fucking Joker for God's sake >Only the most iconic comic book villain of all time
Juan Rodriguez
>Based Marvel hasn't made a bad movie >Thor 2 >Iron Man 2 >Iron Man 3 >Crapstain Mediocre >GOTG 2 >AOU >IH
The rest aren't bad, they're just mediocre. The only exceptions are TWS, IW, Dr Strange, Iron Man and GOTG.
Evan Bell
They're making The Fantabulastic and Bombastic Redeeming Adventures of Harley Quinn. Featuring the "birds" of prey. And Sony is still making that NOT-Spawn movie. >Joker >Iconic I just don't see the appeal of making villains movies.
Sebastian Hill
>With that said, there were creative differences behind the development of the DC Universe “Swamp Thing” series as it was initially developed as a straight-up horror show and eventually transformed into a procedural thriller. And who oh who forced them in that direction?
Jeremiah Morales
I would prefer Wan, but Snyder wouldn't do a Half Bad constantine movie. Edgy themes, Religious imagery out the wazoo and Slow-Motion fireballs...what more could you want from him?
Nathaniel Butler
>DC Movies are going Horror focused >Standalone Batman Movie >Supposedly set in the 90's >Starring Robert Pattinson What are the chances it's pic related?
Yes but it's quoting We Got This Covered, that isn't trustworthy.
Isaac Lee
How many movies has WB announced now?
Juan Peterson
While it is his best movie, it's still a bad movie.
Ryan Johnson
Too late, Keanu's gonna be Moon Knight now.
Matt Ryan is the definitive Constantine for me now anyways after his killer season on the show and follow up in Legends. His voice work is just as good.
Ryan Thompson
Not high. Sounds like it's going to be an adaptation of THE LONG HALLOWEEN.
Jason Torres
>DC which hasn't made a good one Any Batman movie besides TDKR, all of the Superman movies with Christopher Reeves, Constantine, Watchmen, Aquaman, Shazam
William Rodriguez
>James Wan would be involved. >especially if Conjuring Universe producer James Wan puts his stamp on
Talk about conflicting reports. Also, knowing DC's constant direction changes, it will only ever happen if they manage to put out that trench movie to some success
Isaiah Harris
It will be made with peanuts and an Aquaman Trench costumes. Of course it will be successful.
Isaac Carter
It should have always been a film. If WB wanted more procedurals shows then DC has much better characters for that, like The Question
Juan Roberts
A whole bunch of stuff. DC has a stacked magic bench
Jordan Flores
I can. It's a smart move from a business perspective. Cheap to since the trench costumes are all already paid for
Thomas Mitchell
And it's going to be successful
Josiah King
>Swamp Thing is coming back >As a film Ehhhhh, beggars can't be choosers I guess. I'm okay with this
Imagine trying to say the Joker isn't iconic. That's next level mental retardation
Caleb Powell
...uhh.... will movie goers even know who that is?
Lincoln Edwards
Yeah probably. I was listening to a couple of boomers in a podcast talking about a guy living in the woods and one of them shouted "You look like the damn Swamp Thing back there". They didn't seem like the type of guys who read comics either
Elijah Allen
Well the show went way downhill already so let's not pretend like this isn't for the best
Daniel Adams
I don't understand why it wasn't a movie in the first place. WB are the top dog on low budget horror right now and the Mastermind behind that just made Aquaman a billion dollar film. It seems like a no brainier
Robert Lee
Couldn't wait for people to complain about how his Swamp Thing is too dark.
Ethan Cooper
Since the 80s Swamp Thing has had two live-action movies, a cartoon, a NES video game and two different live action TV shows, where the first one lasted three seasons with 2 episodes.
He's hardly obscure if you're not a teenager.
Luke Kelly
Everyone over the age of 25 would at least be aware of him. He has had tv shows, movies, and a cartoon among other stuff. My dad who is far from being into comics knew who he was when he saw me watching the new show.
Logan Lewis
We did nothing, the series we’re already enjoying is still canceled.
Carson Turner
>Not using the show staff What's the point. They're just going to do a shitty rushed version of the origin story
Noah Sanders
If I were in charge I'd use the movie to introduce both him and Constantine as a side character. Never mind the DCEU but seed stuff for a DC supernatural universe, with Constantine as the recurring figure to link everyone kind of like Nick Fury in Phase 1. But don't aim towards JLD just tell spooky stories. Constantine shouldn't be a zap zap wizard.
Benjamin Scott
another dc movie announcement? sure...
Evan Wood
I don't mind it, but I would've much prefered if it was direct to DC Universe movie kind of deal, because there's no fucking way Warner Bros. isn't retarded enough to fuck it all up, they'll make it PG-13 because they don't understand it and they think they know better. You know, the guys who gave a job to Zack Snyder.
No, they shouldn't start from scratch in are they are so inconsistent in, a smarter move would be to build up from what has already proven to work.
Mark my words, this will be Warner Bros.'s New Mutants.
Ryan Morgan
Please be real. Wan and Sandberg already proved that horror directors pretty good match for comic book movies. So I can see some other Conjuring director takes Swamp Thing. Like Corin Hardy, who for years tried to make The Crow with Momoa.
