Emerald Dawn II, Flash/GL Brave and the Bold, GL Secret Origin and New Frontier are all good intros to Hal

I never even found DCAU John to be that interesting; he was the serious guy on a team that already had Batman.
The only noteworthy things about him were his powerset, his connection to the Corps that lead to fun space adventures and cucking Carter Hall.

I’m not ashamed to admit, I didn’t know who Hal Jordan was either, I thought it was weird it wasn’t John in the movie, watched it, I was 13, remember liking it, and I got into comics that way. John’s good in his own right, Lamarr made him iconic, but at the end of the day, he’s just not as cool as Hal is to me. He’s a different shade of cool, John’s a hardass badass, but Hal’s a dumbass badass

I remember when the GL live action movie came out and people were actually seriously bitching about whitewashing. So many people only knew about John, and only because of the cartoon.

John used to be your generic "somewhat angry 70s black guy" way back when, but he's been the "stoic, serious guy" for so long now that he just comes off as dull and boring. I still prefer him over Kyle, but that's not exactly high marks for me.

Nah, it’s Kyle who suffers. Hal was the star of a couple of movies, he’s the GL of the new 52 movies, he’s the main guy in Injustice. He’s in both DCHSG. Only one who suffers more than Kyle is Simon.

this, somehow Kyle missed out on virtually every adaptation and he didn't even get to be the main guy in JL/U and now in modern adaptations they don't even use him as the "alternate" GL because Guy is more fun and Jessica has gotten more popular

One bad thing about Johns is that he never let legacy characters grow further. Hal is a cool guy but other Lanterns deserve better. Hal already had his time.

Please explain to me how Kyle, a blatant audience self-insert who somehow was able to bang practically any female hero who showed up in more than one issue of his comic and who decided to abandon Earth when his gay friend got beaten is any better.

I'd say Richard Rider as Nova, given how there are still holdouts that will only refer to Sam as NINO, but HEAT at their peak was another level entirely.

Hal's costume is fucking great. It's a classic that has that sort of timeless quality that can and does look good in any era of comics. I love Guy's outfit, and I'm biased towards Guy in general, but I agree that Hal's costume is pretty much perfect.

It's still not good but compared to how legacy characters are created and written today, it's a bit of fresh air. While it's cheap shock value, it was done as an Uncle Ben moment and to show Kyle there can be consequences to being a superhero. Many of the recent legacy characters that have been created in the past decade basically play life on easy mode, villains aren't allowed to be threatning to them.

Never said Kyle was better, chief. He could have been as awesome as Wally but all we got was a horny angst faggot besides his JLA version. The OG Superman, the first superhero, was called Kal L. Kal El is the "second" main Superman, the guy we still have in the comics now. Kal L is the idealistic Golden Age classical hero while Kal El is the modernized Superman.
In Infinite Crisis the two Supermen interact. At first L is not down for the way El operates. By the end, however, El proves himself worthy of the Superman name.
Both Superman definitely have some of the strongest large scale character arcs in the DC universe.

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion but I like Sinestro’s blue outfit more than the Sinestro Corps one.

It goes well with the color of his skin in blue, I'm pretty sure he's had that exact outfit but yellow and it doesn't look as good.

I'm curious how Morrison will eventually handle Sinestro's downfall. He'll probably go the classic route where he was partially inspired by Lucifer's outcast from Heaven but it would be interesting seeing if he does something different.

Now I'm wondering who would be the perfect Hal. Nobuo Tanaka would make a GREAT Sinestro but I could've easily have seen Kaneto Shiozawa as him but he's dead.
