Marvel SERIOUSLY believes that Absolute Carnage #1 can surpass X-Men #1 and become the best-selling single issue EVER

Marvel SERIOUSLY believes that Absolute Carnage #1 can surpass X-Men #1 and become the best-selling single issue EVER.

What the fuck are they thinking?

Not unless they sell it for 99 cents, it won't

Cates please stop metaironically shilling here.

No, the whole Venom is the best comic ever is a meme pushed by Cates and Stegman, and is very, very clearly just a joke unless you have autism

Pretty sure it’s a joke. Like when he said Venom is better than Watchmen.

Why does Marvel like shilling Carnage so much?

even then, why would that many people want to read a carnage comic in 2019?

If they offered a free download code for Avengers Endgame though, that would do it.

Even if it were free it wouldn’t move that much. The comic shop market is tiny compared to what it was in 91. Also it’s clearly meant as a joke and OP has autism

OK I am OP and I have realized that I have greatly misinterpreted this joke, I totally forgot about the Cates/Stegman Watchmen joking, please forgive me

This, also X-Men #1 was released during the speculator boom with 4 interlocking covers so most people were buying at the very least 4 copies of the book when it came out.

All of those million-selling Marvel books were ORDERED in those numbers by stores, but they never actually sold a million of them to customers. Any store that was open back then and is still in business probably has unsold copies of Spider-Man #1, X-Men #1 and X-Force #1.

Yup. Comic sales figures never tell the full story. We all have a LCS that’s absolutely stuffed to the brim with unsold back issues.

It's another Stegman joke. Like "Venom is better than Watchman" shit. But Yea Forums take everything unironically as usual

>this or that Marvel comic is better than Watchmen
You'd be surprised how many marvelfags think this is true.

They don't

It's marketing hype. They'll say whatever inane bullshit if they think it'll spark interest and inflate sales.

No one sincerely believes marketing hype. If they do, they should be committed to a mental hospital.

Yeah, there’s a lot of faggots out there. Like you

Current Marvel, and the industry as a whole, is fucking retarded.

Not a particularly funny joke.

That's probably more comic reader than actually exist today.

>X-Men #1
> the best-selling single issue EVER
Is that really true?

Why are you asking a question that a Google search would verify?

boo hoo

does marvel even manage to sell more then 3m comics in total per month these days?

I doubt it. It's very rare these days for the entire industry to ship 7 million floppies a month. February this year was low at 5.9 million. I give floppies 15 years at most before going to the way of the dodo.

i expect dc getting shut down before floppies die all together

DC shutting down would be enough of a blow to comic shops that the industry would soon follow. It's hard to imagine there not being a Batman comic at the very least.

No, marvel will just sell better

It's not that simple

When there's no Pepsi everyone will buy Coke

Are you seriously comparing the state of the soda industry with the state of the comic store industry?

Why do you think selling it for less would motivate anyone to buy it? Why would people pay money for something they don't want? Or even accept something they don't want for free?

There's also the connotation that because something is cheaper it is of lesser quality. Yes this is a real thing in marketing.

Yes.

You're a silly goose.

They've been out of their minds for a decade. What do you expect?

Well, considering that Marvel really believes that a Spider-Man comic written by J.J. Abrams SON is a great announcement, I can expect anything from Marvel.

That's why no one reads this shit anymore.

They obviously don't, it's just a stupid gimmick to cash in on 90s nostalgia, which is half the reason Cates Venom run exists.

Stegman is a top tier shitposters, that's what this is. Seriously, watch his twitter wars with Zdarsky for some gold shitposting

Chip is so damn funny

His tweets are the best advertisements Marvel has

Obviously that's not going to happen but it does have a lot going for it, that it's 1) Spider-Man related, 2) Venom related, 3) a #1, 4) a big event and 5) will probably have a million variants.

So it could actually end up being the #1 seller of the year, easily.

>So it could actually end up being the #1 seller of the year, easily.
Don't be stupid. DC 1000 moved 550k

Somehow I forgot about that, you're right. Marvel 1000 will probably also sell higher. I still see copies of DC covering the tops of bins in every used book store in town.

>Marvel 1000 will probably also sell higher.
Than 550k? It's possible. If it's cheaper it would be easier. Since DC 1000 was 10 dollars, Marvel 1000 being 8 dollars perhaps could be the difference. Stuff like that might make someone buy two covers instead of one, for instance. We'll see.

Oh my bad you were saying Marvel 1000 will outsell Carnage

Why not? X men aren’t popular anymore.
