Cans without labels by John K. finally got finished if anyone gives a shit. I know I don't.

Retard, learn to use the catalog.

Based. John K. is /ourguy/ forever and always.

I think I've already come full circle with it and love it in a "so bad it's good" kind of way.

the animation is pretty good, real classic ren and stimpy, but the comedic timing felt off
the character designs are just fucking awful though, its clearly a parody of the standard sitcom style of wacky dad (or uncle) and wiseass kids but they just look like retarded generic cartoon kids you'd see in toothpaste ads, the cat looks like a cross section between silvester and tom, and i think the duck speaks for himself
i couldn't make anything better but then again i don't have a shit ton of backer money either

It's entertaining as hell. I would watch this over everything playing on Cartoon Network. The music, art direction, character designs, even this kind of animation is different than what we see nowadays. It's very refreshing to see something other than bean heads using meme vocabulary and worrying about what people are saying about them on social media. The shit where he walks back in the kitchen with the belt in his hand cracks me up every time.

It's bad.

Why isn't catalog the default feature ?

>T. kickstarter backer trying to cope

Where's the MEGA?

>the animation is pretty good
Are you fucking stupid?

>being this insecure about differing opinions

I still kind of like everything with the cat

rewatching it i agree it looks awful, i meant more
just the expressions but even then they look bad and jumpy
this is something you watch once and don't ever look at again

Attached: belt.gif (363x262, 3.92M)

It took all those years to finish that?

>just the expressions but even then they look bad and jumpy
That's one of the big problems. JohnK doesn't know how to tell jokes, so he supplements them with wacky motions and expressions, but the problem is he's fucking bombarding the audience with wacky expressions and movements. George is fucking flailing up and down, his mouth is bouncing up and down, his eyes are budging out and there's no joke or any fucking point to it. John just wanted to add it because it to add it and it's no point.

I dont understand how something can be too animated and not animated enough at the same time

i mean it was a good time making fun of it for a few years but yeah,.. i don't think anyone cares much anymore.

Attached: 2011-06-03-They+Were+A+Rip+Off+Of+Silly+Symphonies.jpg (398x1600, 291K)

well that and 136,723 united states dollars

We see exactly what you're complaining about in a ton of 40's era Looney Tunes. Many in which had no joke attached to them. It's weird to fault a cartoon for doing something cartoony. There doesn't have to have a purpose. That's how artistry works and not whatever it is they're teaching you at CalArts.

There's always slapstick jokes to compliment the high energy in Looney tunes, something this short doesn't do properly

The guy who drew this is giga-shoyu and furiously butt-blasted that his Spümco-derived art got torn apart on John K’s blog, just FYI

I'm not even talking about slapstick. Literal insane facial expressions just for the sake of having a wacky reaction with no joke or slapstick attached to it. They did it all the time for little to no purpose.

And with a reason
Almost every single panel lacks line of action, is unappealing and, unrelated to the art, the writing is smug and unfunny.
Also it doesn't dig enough into Johnny's insecurities.

Imagine being so assblasted about your hero shitting on your art for practically stealing an entire aesthetic to the point of making an unfunny comic strip in the same style.

>John Kantpronounci
Is Kricfalusi really that hard to say, to the point where everyone just calls him John K? It doesnt seem that hard

Also I want to FUCK Strawberry

The way YOU pronounce it is not even the right way I guarantee. Seen him say it in an interviw where he's says it in the original Polish way of saying it and it's easily not the same as how most people say it.

Better than Nu-Cartoon Network

This. It's miles ahead the past 5 shows CN put out.

Still better than Steven Universe

That's low hanging fruit.

>the original Polish way of saying it
Supposedly it's Ukrainian. I grew up in a town with a shit ton of Polack emigres and their names don't look like this or end in suffixes like -usi.

>It's miles ahead
John is now 20 years behind the industry in every way going on 30. This isn't 1995 when he pushed Macromedia to get audio sync in Flash working so he could make a video of turds on parade.

no. all it's good for is shitposting

I BUY 'EM CHEAP

What made Looney Tunes work were the low energy moments. The moments between the madness that make the manic parts hit harder.

There's a reason "What's up, doc?" Killed in the old days. People saw a rabbit get a gun to the snoot. They expected him to scream, wig out, beg, or do anything. The calm, collected, casual greeting had them rolling in the aisles more than any "take" Bugs could do.

to anybody who claims that this is good:

you're wrong.

Attached: 1550524761318.png (640x360, 331K)

I remember a lot of old cartoons and I don’t remember any. Care to give an example?

And they never occupied a full second's worth of closeup in freeze frame. Don't be a retard.

John was fond of tearing into his sycophants. He wanted them to ape Clampett, not himself. And let's also remember that Kyle managed to run Mighty Magiswords because he could get along with other people and adopt the prevailing workflow while John is dead in the water.

How did someone in the industry as long as John K. manage to make a cartoon with no comedic timing what so ever?

There is literally no reason at all to have had 3D assets in this cartoon. The cans gained nothing by being 3D and neither did the cartoon. The characters don't look like they're sitting in the chairs. The renders look like they were done with the most basic lighting and shading settings because no one knew better. George is of course standing in the middle of the table.
And who doesn't love that two kids have severely receding hairlines just like George.

it's hilarious how this short single handedly proved all of John's critics right. He can't meet his deadlines, he can't write jokes, he can't direct ,and he can't even animate any more.

John had his dick held by more conventional, far less autistic industry professionals like Bakshi and Camp throughout his early career.

And the best part is that his parents lived long enough to see it.

When I saw those 3D assets in the unfinished version, I honestly though they were meant to be traced over for the final product

fapfic when?

YAY!
TOUCH TIPS! youtu.be/SUO6bWM3h9g

Attached: Ernie_Slab.png (731x499, 379K)

Bob Camp? You mean the creative genius behind seasons 3-5 of Ren & Stimpy? You mean the worst episodes?

Yeah, John was realllllyy leaning on him throughout his career.

how

Attached: 1540318188771.png (640x360, 271K)

the more i think about it the more this short feels like a bad family guy skit
>peetah i know that money is tight right now so for dinner tonight i had to buy these cans without labels. This one has a human face inside.
>ah geez lois this is almost as bad as that time i met donald duck's face-eating evil twin brother donald bastard
>*cutaway gag to peter answering the door*
>"holy crap lois it's donald duck's face-eating evil twin brother donald bastard!"
>*donald bastard bites down on peter's face, cue 2 minutes of peter running around the room bleeding everywhere and screaming*

Attached: 1500290467269.jpg (491x532, 50K)

I can't think of shapes so undeserving of having 3D assets to begin with.

Skit without jokes

Somehow this seems funnier than what john did

Just how many Donald-esque cartoony ducks one guy needs in his portfolio?

Attached: Menagerie_of_John_K.jpg (1599x1035, 246K)

I’m not that other user, but I must interject: Bob Camp is an extraordinarily talented cartoonist and was instrumental in many of the great episodes of the first two seasons. He doesn’t deserve to be shat on. One of the shittier things John did was spend decades ruining Bob’s reputation (along with others) after giving him his blessing to continue the show.

To be honest this shows me they only worked decent when combined together. Split apart, neither of them could create anything good.

And has some - albeit nauseating - structure to it, rather than merely have a solution leap out at a moment's notice without even the vaguest of grounding in the life of characters.

Retard, They did it multiple times in the Great Piggybank Robbery which is arguably the best Daffy Duck cartoon. Know what the fuck you're talking about before passing insults.

And yet I'd rather watch that Family Guy skit.

>tfw you weren't that interested in Hazbin until a galtistic furfag sperglady who cannot into color wheels has the potential to dunk on John K
I wonder if in all his condescending blog rants, John ever considered that maybe he was just never all that great at his job.

Attached: 1534450335363.jpg (326x155, 8K)

Sounds like a shitty opinion to me.

I feel like its misguided to talk up shitty creators just because other shitty creators are worse. Like, is actual dog shit worse than Johnny Test? Sure, doesn't mean I'm gonna praise Johnny Test.

Oh, Hazin itself is still gonna be a godawful dumpster fire. It just adds a layer of metahumor that a "professional" with decades of experience can't even produce a manic, schizophrenic art style with the same savvy about modern cartoon aesthetics as well as a some young chick with obvious mental disorders put your pants back on, john.

Attached: 1551315208029.jpg (1024x576, 47K)

Reminder people will love him and call him an under-appreciated genius when he's dead.

This is embarrassing, dude.

Attached: 0au3LDK.jpg (689x1023, 69K)

I think it’s pretty based, and quite possibly redpilled too.

>no u

Are Mike, Mary Lou and Elizabeth, people who died before this got made?

Considering that he got metoo'd, celebrating John K. in any way is online suicide. It's not going to happen.

Cans is his legacy when he doesn't have a corporate sponsor. He's clearly not a genius.

Attached: 1557623083739.gif (300x170, 239K)

Must be a really bad Family Guy skit because what you posted is actually kind of funny.

I found the Donald Bastard bit to be amusing, and when he was threatening to take his belt off. The rest of it was like something they'd show prisoners of war every day to get them to crack.

Attached: this shit is why everyone hates you.png (256x256, 55K)

So did Morgan Freeman but look at him now.

Blind and in prison?

It was in development hell which is not an environment a artist should be in when trying to be creative. Plus a like the cartoon.

Beloved and admired. He literally just honored Denzel Washington.

>EAT THE FUCKING FACE
eas he trying to meme this like GET OUT OF MY CAR? was there enough time to do it, that scene is a cut so it's possible.

I guarantee that's what the original plan was. Then he got lazy.

>It was in development hell

Self-inflicted one.
John K was his own master on this one and see how it turned out.

Attached: George_Liquor gives_you_a_break.png (723x539, 630K)

He's just not a good producer. He's at his best when storyboarding and directing a cartoon. All the other baggage takes a toll.

im just going to watch it out of spite at this point. if it ends up being good then thats a bonus, but if its bad then i can at least get some laughs out of it.

The business where Donald Bastard is revealed to eat faces, just because it's handy to have someone around who can, is so incredibly hackneyed. Was he in the original version of the story, or just shoehorned in as the thing developed?

It's actually enjoyable. Despite all the criticisms here, no one has said they wasted 11 minutes.

the stuff we do have is alright, some of it even pretty neat, but we have no idea what the actual show is going to be like until it comes out.

>based

>redpilled

Even more embarrassing.

Attached: 1547291960892.jpg (274x266, 32K)

Keep in mind, this did not just take YEARS to animate. He had been working on the story and boards for many years prior to even opening up the Kickstarter. Him pitching the short at Comic-Con can be traced back to all the way to 2009. And he's been trying to push George Liquor as a character since like, fucking 1995.

John is trying to build a legacy around George and Cans Without Labels and treating it like his magnum opus. And it's becoming that in the sense that it completely represents who he is: A man who lives in the past, obsessed with his abusive father, and can't meet a deadline, is a complete hack who mooched off the talent of other cartoonists, and is completely out of touch with the world.

this 100%, everyone who gave money to him is an idiot

I just noticed he has Goofy's hat and Mickey's pants

Fixed that for ya.

Attached: soylent-sam.png (274x266, 110K)

>development hell

You have no idea what that term means, do you?

>He had been working on the story and boards for many years prior to even opening up the Kickstarter.

That's a given - John K already managed to record all lines from Mike Pataki before the latter bit the big one in 2010. Which means that by then he had to have at least somewhat complete storyboard before recordings.

Attached: George_Liquor_family_moments.png (909x629, 790K)

Jesus christ....

Hey Uncle Sam. Give John his glasses back!

Attached: sP07yFY.jpg (1355x900, 181K)

I wish John K did some more cute shit like the Heartaches, because I think he's fine doing that.

No argument here. I remember thinking people were basically burning their money when that Kickstarter was new.

>and i think the duck speaks for himself
Opinion discarded because you're obviously retarded

>that lingering shot of George's arse as he says 'African babies'

Attached: 1543622234002.jpg (399x709, 199K)

Is that his real hair? He literally looks like a cartoon.

>john k can't even draw his own characters properly anymore

It's probably 80% hair dye at this point.

His modern drawing style is bizarre.

not like Ren and Stimpy were consistent in any way

how many kickstarter success stories have there been compared to the stories of absolute failure? only example i can name off the top of my head is shovel knight, which is a pretty fun game
long gone gulch might also become one depending on how good and popular it ends up being, but it's looking nice so far

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Wasteland 2
Pillars of Eternity
Pathologic
Undertale
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Kingdom Come Deliverance
The Long Dark
The Banner Saga
FTL
Superhot

There've been plenty of successes, it's just more entertaining to keep track of spectacular failures.

You don't judge someone's potential when they're in such a hostile and stressful environment as post-John K. R&S production was.

You can read elements of this very story dating back to like a decade ago in John's blog
The man who voices George died in 2012 even

Pretty sure he drew that in like a minute, its just a fan request doodle. Bet he made $20 off it too.

>Doesn't give a shit.
>Tells everyone about it
>Posts a link to it.

Supposedly they were greenlighting that as a show, which inspired the ladies who denounced him to come out, lest he'd use the show to groom young girls like he did them.

I feel like the big Kickstarter successes are all games. Is that just my imagination?

>Video unavailable
>This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by John Kricfalusi.

Welp

you got me there, that's a pretty fucking good list. honestly i knew about all of these things already but never thought they came from kickstarter simply because of their success

You can't play Whack-a-mole forever,John.

Anomalisa

I've also found it's pretty popular for physical prints of webcomics, and porn. I swear Shade has managed to stay mostly self-sufficient through all his porn book kickstarter funds.

Mighty Magiswords was shit

How much money went into this?
Shit like this is why I never support Patron

Attached: Capture.jpg (715x575, 62K)

Wait. Does Kickstarter let you do straight-up porn projects?

Wow, look at you giving so little of a shit you decided to make a thread and talk about it. That sure is some form of peculiar apathy you've got.

Would you prefer people shit up other threads with their "John K sucks and also has sex with children" jokes?

That's unironically not a lot of money for a cartoon.

Uhh... That thread is archived.

The only bad part is the CG backgrounds.

How much did A Fox in Space raise on Kickstarter?

Attached: 1546051454784.jpg (256x256, 17K)

That motherfucker should just be doing his own original stuff at this point.

Before the John k harassment stuff happened, I mostly remembered John k being the guy who would go around insulting other animation styles, for example Family Guy and Simpsons, for being cheap/simple crap that were just animated sitcoms that didn't take advantage of the medium. He believed his wacky slapstick off-model looney tunes style was the one true soulful style for animation, that others should follow.

He also coined the "Calarts style" term, but was apparently referring to the style of post-renaissance disney movies like Emperor's new groove, which isn't what people think of as "calarts" today.

Attached: JohnKricfalusi.jpg (1408x2112, 1.36M)

That was legitimately the shittiest animation I can think of. It's like John K just doesn't give two shits about people who support him. Im glad I pirated it because I wouldn't want to give a single dime for that shit pile.

Attached: Fucking sick.gif (600x330, 1.32M)

Part of the mesmerizing appeal of AFIS (and Hazbin Hotel, to a less efficacious extent) is the power of furfag autism.

HH is more a case study in stubbornness. AFIS is truly next level shit.

I implore you, get some taste.

There are people on youtube who regularly make better stuff for free. And it doesn't take them 10 years to do it.

idk maybe it's Yea Forums finally rubbing off on me after years of being here but anyone else get the case of "ow the edge"?

I feel like this cartoon just feels like John is REALLY going out of his way to make it as nonconformist as possible and just falls flat.

That's Bill Cosby

It's a lot *more* money when it doesn't take you ten years to finish the cartoon.

I think it's pretty good but not worthy of seven years of wait.

please tell me that isn't true
just from the screenshots it doesn't look like $130,000

Pixie Trix have been releasing all their physical (and uncensored) volumes of Menage a 3 under Kickstarter, though that's mostly softcore. Shade has been making a consistent career out of it though, though I guess they're able to exploit the loophole of their content technically being parodies and not straight-up porn. Seems to mostly be that it's okay so long as you keep the project page itself SFW.

Plus, y'know, Subverse.

Is there a link to watch this anywhere now that OP's video is gone?

Holy shit, are John K's fans retarded?

Kiwi Farms. People have been uploading it to the John K thread.

>I AM SILLY

Aw damn, OP's video wasn't official? I don't know what Kiwi Farms is, will John get upvotes if I watch it there?

>giga-shoyu
>kyle a carroza

The CGI and camera are horrible, it's like he never finished the workprint.

Yes

Attached: yes.gif (320x240, 593K)

Oh, the berserk shuffle

I was disappointed when I helped back The Last Days of Coney Island, so I can only imagine how much more retarded backing this would have made me feel. Never back anything on Kickstarter.

I backed Wakfu DVDs AND the Reward series
you can't just give money blindly, you have to support stuff you know won't be shit

Certainly not. They despise him there.

Honestly took 1 gamble and that was for FTL. Turned out great but never again after some of the other kickstarter horror stories

Boardgames are generally safe it seems like. They've come a long way from the Robotech debacle.

Oh boy, time to head over and check it oWAAAAAIT A MINUTE, are you John? Is beer and a cheese platter an appropriate gift for a 15-year-old's birthday party?

Attached: 1540389545712.jpg (600x578, 49K)

Truly his masterpiece in a traditional sense

Hyper Light Drifter
Hollow Knight
The Bloodstained 8bit spin-off
Darkest Dungeon
Wasteland 2
Yooka Laylee (it was alright)
Shantae Half-Genie Hero (mediocre at best but that's just Shantae games in general and people love it)

>I was disappointed when I helped back The Last Days of Coney Island,
Why? that movie IS Ralph Bakshi. Even the limited unfinished animation creates such an amazing mood that fits the tone so well. But Bakshi has always had problems with his storytelling. He's all style no substance.

Wait, that’s all John’s doing? Link to blogpost or Twitter where he started all of that?

Looks like John's intern has given a new task to reform his image: MOCK TRUMP

I pulled out when their "reward" to backers after they made their goal early was to unveil DLC they'd never mentioned before that cost $60 (when the game tier was $15). They got a lot of backlash on that and ended up giving it away to all the backers but I was out by that point.

Planned series being made by an autistic furfag chick who can't take criticism constructively. Basically only gets attention because the creator's elongated, frequently angular and harshly colored style is radically divergent from the current trend of soft moeblod characters done in pastel palettes. The character designs are all easily reverse engineered brain salad triple fusions and the plot is a willfully schizophrenic SJW fever dream.

I kinda dig the concept but if it was made by Katie and not John

I kinda wanna draw her

Looks like a bad rug.

Do it

do it but redraw her to not be in disgusting john k style

oh sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

Go for it,John K does some cute girls sometimes.

I always forget John K is a huge weeb.

>Vivziepop
>SJW
lol no.

For the record the whole cans without labels is something his father actually did to him and his siblings while his useless mother did nothing.
reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/xe8dx/john_k_ren_and_stimpy_creator_back_doing_web/

John K has been caricaturing and mocking political figures for decades. He literally sold toys that made of Clinton, McCain and Obama.

I don't follow it super closely, but it seems to have an "everyone can be redeemed" thing going on and I think one of the main characters us a cross-dresser.

Yeah yeah, orange man bad.
Now fuck off.

yeah SJW's sure are known for their love for redemption

They were literally saying that John K isn't just jumping on the "orange man bad" bandwagon.

It's forgetable. I never knew about the backer drama, and never felt strongly about Ren & Stimpy so I can get worked up about it. It's a mediocre project which only stands on the humor of the situation. There's some cool moments, but overall it looks cheap and the change in sound quality annoys me.

Shit... I kinda love this design

Attached: anime rubber hoe.png (724x1628, 210K)

Maybe I'm mixing up tropes. Yea Forums hates "everyone can be redeemed" whether it's SJW or not.

Cringe.

No need to be ashamed.

Isn’t she a big fan of alt-right you tubers?

Yes, yes. 2020 and all that.
Leave anytime.

I unironically want to watch a Trump cartoon in Spumco style. It fits his character and every single stupid shit that happens in the white house so well

It's a neat design, sort of like FernGully meets Kaiba with a dose of John K "lol butt funny" "humor."

I'm going to steal the design sensibilities of this and make a short comic for /hyw/. Really digging the weird rubber hose anime girl idea.

Blop, new FOTW. Off to draw.

>FOTW
female of the week?

It's actually amusing how similar the "Get out of my car" video is to Cans Without Labels, but was done as a joke with 1/100th of the time and budget.

Imagine being this assblasted over a caricature of a politician

Imagine being this assblasted over a post on Yea Forums

What the fuck, lol

I feel the same way. Even some Newgrounds animations have better delivery of this type of humor like hellbenders

>muh orange senpai ;-;

Here she is. And I agree.

>tfw feel fucking bad for John k

But I guess theirs a lesson to be learn from his downfall, don’t be a fucking dick or life will come back to bite you in the ass

Ren & Stimpy was the ONLY good thing to come from him.

Another fun fact. He’s also a pedophile.

why does he only draw hueg tittay girls, then?

He likes girls that developed early.

I don't. He's a cunt, always has been.

How young?

Young enough

>liking developed girls

kiwifarms.net/threads/michael-john-kricfalusi-john-kricfalusi-john-k-john-k-stuff-raymond-spum.40970/page-96#post-4895776

he should've started the cartoon with the ernie and slab watching donald bastard bite off faces on tv or something

but then again that'd cut into the time were george pulls WACKY FACES, which is real comedy

Nicely done, user.

>Wally Man
Wait did he just reuse this design for the Kickstarter scene at the end with the husband and wife

He did good work on the first season of Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures. He pitched most of the episodes, and all of his episodes were among the good ones. It's true though, besides that and Ren & Stimpy though he was pretty much just a fuck up.

Attached: MIGHTY-MOUSE-11.jpg (1901x1429, 900K)

Your line work is nice, is that illustrator?

I feel like he'd be the type to despise MLP and shit on bronies mercilessly saying shit like how they're an example of what's wrong with society. He must have been paid a small fortune to draw this.

user Dev hell is when executives(new or otherwise) assign to the project raise objections to prior decisions mandating rewrites and recasting. As directors and actors join the project, further rewrites and recasting are done to the project.

Thanks, and I use Paint Tool Sai.

Pot, meet kettle

>Was he in the original version of the story, or just shoehorned in as the thing developed?

He was always there, as far as I know.

You must have not seen a 40s era Looney Tunes short in like 10 years if you think that short is anything like them. It's more like the worst sequences from Tiny Toons.

>almost all of John's show ideas are little more than characters you'd find sketched out on the margin's of a kid's homework
