I recently started watching Wakfu as per recommendation from a friend. I'm about 10 episodes in, and - eh. I don't find the show too interesting so far, not enough to focus my full attention on. If feels like it would be a good enough thing to watch while multitasking - cleaning, cooking, doing some thoughtless menial work. But I can't exactly do that, because subtitles require me to focus all the time, and I don't know a lick of frog. I tried watching the dub, but I found it abysmal. Evangeline is the only one with any emotion in her voice, while Ruel is trying way too hard to convince everybody he's dying from every cancer right now.
Does it get better? By which I mean -does the story get SIGNIFICANTLY more interesting, so that it's worth focusing full attention on Or -do the dub VAs learn how to act.
Fansubs rule.. the dub acting quality gets marginally better, but audio mixing is still cancer

It gets significantly better afterwards, S1 finale is IMO still the series' peak
S2 is nice with interesting characters, but kinda filler-y
Didn't like the OVAs much, and S3 is meh..
IMO 30% of the series' appeal is S1 ending, the rest fanservice waifus in high quality flash (and isn't that a rare sentence..)

I always default to subs, watched the first 6 episodes subbed, only tried the dub because I found it less-than-enthralling. As I said, so far it felt like the kind of show where I won't miss much if I only watch it with my peripheral vision

Fair enough, but I really just wanted to know if it changes. There has been a bunch of shows I disliked at the start, but had major character development or deep lore later on.
This show is like RWBY to me, I never watch it but the porn is amazing.

Yes it gets better as it goes. Like all kids adventure cartoons theres a harsh tonal shift halfway through season 1, like how Avatar started with penguin sledding and the season finally was the death of the moon and a world of decay and discord. That's just the way these shows go.

Watched Wakfu in Polish, no clue about French/English versions. The show changes gears in the second half of S1, less comedy plot of the week, more serialized action. If you don't like it by EP17, you can safely eject. I actually liked the first half slightly more. I don't get why other people don't find it utterly hilarious.

Hey, John. I said keep watching it and don't bother with season 2 and onwards. Watching it dubbed is not remotely acceptable. I know it's difficult to watch AND read shit, really, it's hard. But the dub is godawful and even the fucking sound design are leagues better in the original french. As to ask your questions. Yes, the last bit is the most interesting part. But you will have to watch the OVA (one episode only) to get the background context for Nox which will make the ending so much better. Second question. No they fucking don't. Don't watch the dub.

Yep, couldn’t agree more that a lot of people like this series mostly thanks to the last few episodes of the S1.
I very much liked the first 10 episodes of the S2 tho, then it was full of filler and they rushed the end

It does get better, I know what you mean. S1 in a lot of ways is like Avatar Last Airbender but with just worse filler. But the main plot's pay off is worth it and I think you'll like S2 a bit better because it's more tightly paced.
But short answer is that at least S1's finality is absolutely worth sticking out for.
