ITT: Bullies that are more sympathetic than the protagonist
ITT: Bullies that are more sympathetic than the protagonist
All of them desu. Bullying is a natural way to reinforce social order (plus it gets you laid)

For some reason your study gave me a PubPeer pop-up about statistically errors in the article.
I never found Roger sympathetic as a kid.
As a kid I felt like he didn't act like a real bully-- all he did was annoy the shit out of other kids and talk down at them in a nasally voice. All the fucking time. Kinda feel like all the kids would eventually just start ignoring him or.. hell, given that Connie of all people dropped him with one punch he wouldn't be that hard to get rid of.
Damn, if we’re saying Klotz, then you have to include Oscar The Grouch
Oscar is apathetic to sarcastic, not sadistic too tormenting.
It's been fucking years since I've seen that show, what was his sympathetic sob story again? Or did he even have one? I forgot.
Absentee dad. His mom seemed cool though.
Roger also really liked and cared about Doug but had no idea how to actually be friends with him.
t.bullied tard projecting
Rodrick
Depending on the setting, Pete the Cat
Pacifica sometimes
I never thought roger was a bully either. Mostly because he didn't have a gang with him to beat the crap out of Doug. He was just a greaser.
jasper
The first Quail Man episode has Roger pick a fight with Doug after the latter accidentally punched him in the nose, though that ep was complete bullshit...But there are a couple of early instances where it seemed to imply he would resort to violence.
And he was an 11 or 12 year old greaser, at that. One other thing I despised about Doug was how the show present the characters as early teens in all their mannerisms, habits and hang outs and they're all in fucking grade school.
Yeah but that's what greasers are expected to do, resort to violence. I can't think of any instances where Roger really antagonized Doug without provocation.
Off the top of my head:
Blamed Doug's volcano/science project whatever for the supposed burning down of the school gym, rather than cop to his own project essentially being a big ass firecracker.
Set out to sabotage Doug and Skeeter's downhill racing car, and not anyone else (though to be fair Bebe's racer had a fucking security force watching it)
He also signed up Doug for a talent show without his knowledge.
But The worst thing he did was steal Bone's yodeling statue and deliberately pinned the crime on Doug. For shits and giggles and to deliberately see Doug get some overwrought punishment for it.
In the show bible, they make it clear that Roger wants to be Doug's friend. Toward the end of the original run when they graduate, Roger's feeling anxious about going to junior high because he'll be a nobody, where he's sort of ruled the elementary school for years being held back. And as much as a loser as Doug allegedly is, he did move to town and instantly form a connection with a lot of people.
It’s a kids show.
They’re only going to go so far.
Anyone has the thread about the creator of the show visiting his high school sweet heart only to find out she is married?
Unlike Bart, Nelson does have a reason to be an asshole.
Also, I find cool that despite being the youngest of the bullies, he's the most feared.
That may be true but you still got to reign them in so they don’t go to far
Yeah, all he really did was needle Doug now and then, which Doug took very badly because he was a nervous wreck and a social idiot.
He even became part of the general friend group in the Disney version after his family got rich and he stopped being a dick to Doug for no apparent reason.
The creator of Doug based Roger and Patti on his real life bully and crush.
He ran into his Patti and she invented him to her house. Guess who she married?
The overall lesson of Doug is that poor people are evil.
I fucking love that
/ourguy/
not a really hard childhood, just a guy with deep fears and a big void in his soul. He cant connect with people and his family is to blame, he was probably babysat until first grade, but his feelings are more sincere than anyone in the series but the blue guy.
So glad he banged patty in the end, man enough to turn a tomboy into a woman.
Doug probably still has his shitty DA full of cringy Ocs of himself beating his bully and works on Honker Burger (remember he lost all his college money)..
Wasn't he a co-protagonist alongside his emasculated cuck of a twin brother?
I always felt bad for Torvald and wondered why their teacher didn't just tutor him
Anyone got pictures of the green thick girl that liked Doug?
That's because in early Simpsons he's a literal psychopath
That shit was some of the most uncomfortable second hand pain and embarrassment I’ve ever experienced
One of the few good examples of asshole characters that aren't just one dimensional antagonists redeemed after one episode (i.e. Pacifica). He has good reasons for being jerk and only wants to be liked and have friends.
i mean, yeah, but bully and protagonist aren't mutually exclusive.
Torvald wasn't really a bully at the end of the ep. Remember when they did that football game they brought him along to help.
also, his mom is fucking hot
All... fifty dollars of it?
Am I misremembering the lottery episode or was that savings bond not even worth triple digits?
Literally any character in the history of fiction is more sympathetic than Doug. Literally the worst character ever.
Molly is the best girl. Sentimental and understanding. she out here tryin'a be the best older sister and role model she can be. She helps a nigga out when they need it.
Can't say I feel bad for him...
Bullying is just some idiots way of asking for gay sex.
You could feel the tension between Roger and Doug.
well if we're going that route...
>Well If isn’t my old pal funny?!
This nigga killed himself by shooting himself into earths atmosphere from an orbital railgun just to get to the afterlife and play an ancient Egyptian pharoh in a card game
>arguing in favor of normalfag hierarchies
yawn
Bullies themselves are egodriven shitbags
What they represent might be good to some but that's the same way one could argue crimewaves make a society stronger. The criminals are still trash, yet their effects are okay
>Over 40 posts in and no mention of Best Girl
Even in season 1 she was better than Mable
is that the plot of the movie? I thought he traveled through time to duel the pharaoh
kaiba survived, he later creates the duel academy.
Not the bully.
are you implying because something is natural it's good?
I saw Roger more as a "hey dickface I'm just fucking with you" guy rather than a "beat you to a pulp" bully.
While he was usually... like I said earlier, Roger had a few moments where he really went way too far into territory that would have at the least really humiliated Doug if not ruin his life.
The trophy theft, and the halloween episode were especially odious since if it weren't for Doug's luck, he'd be in detention for the rest of elementary school over something he didn't do, and he could have been killed wandering around in the innards of an amusement park thinking Roger had been hurt or was in trouble.
kaiba's autism is so legendary that he basically all the bad shit in the future series/spin-off's to happen either directly or in-directly.
Didn't RL roger end up with Jim's crush?
Jesus Christ
Source?
Aren't they in elementary school?
Stop repeating this. That was a meme Yea Forums created, not the actual story. Yes the creator is a beta fuck who never got over a high school crush and that's pathetic, but the entire Roger connection was added after the story came out because you are all closest cuckfags.
Good point. I was just speaking generally since I don’t remember much of Nick or Disney’s Doug.
youtube.com
There's the added bonus on making you sort out your priorities.
Yea Forums adjacent anime, and the main character is also a bully but I'm rewatching Yu Yu Hakusho for the first time since seeing it on toonami more than a decade ago and its wild how much more likable Kurama is than Yusuke
Shame the relationship between her and Dipper never went beyond 1 episode. Would've been great to see her fund some of the crazy adventures as well as working as a foil for Dipper.
Doug's creator himself told the story. It's real.
Has the bible been released in full? Ive seen a few pages but never one about Roger
Didn’t she decide she wasn’t going to be a bully anymore? The tough customers were always wimps anyway, ballet loving Binky was their ringleader of all people
Did anyone even find out what that Anthony kid actually thinks of that episode as an adult? It must be weird to get to do a voice for a show, only for it to portray you as an annoying celeb worshipper who gets beaten up and has a psychotic dad.
>thick
This one?
some good taste
Deku is worse than Doug
>It’s my ten-year reunion, and I didn’t go. I was in New York working like crazy as a freelancer and just trying to make it there.
>And I got a phone call in New York and it’s Patti. The real Patti. And my heart’s beating fast. She’s like, ‘I was at the reunion! You weren’t!’ and I was like, ‘Yeah…sorry…I had to work.’
>And she goes, ‘I found out you live in New York. Guess what—I do, too!’ And she told me where she lives. We lived across Central Park from each other. And she says, ‘Why don’t you come over for dinner?’
>So now we’re in a Doug show. I’m like, what do I wear? What will she look like!? All that’s happening as I’m walking across Central Park to her apartment, just wondering and just hoping, all those things.
>I was, at the time, very available.
I get to the door, and you get buzzed up in New York, and so I walk up to the apartment and I hear the lock turn—it’s getting ready to happen—and she opens the door, and she’s perfect. Just perfect. >She just looks spectacular and she’s so happy, and her arms fly up and we hug, and I’m just like [frightened guttural gasping noises]. She backs up and she goes ‘Look, Jimmy! Boobs! I got my boobs!’ [Laughs.] It sounds like I’m making this up, right?
>And I’m like, ‘Yeah… yeah, uh huh!’ ‘Yeah, they always used to call me Flatty Patti, but look!’ And she was just funny and fun and innocent, but it’s like Doug and Patti together again, ten years later, right?
>So this is all wonderful, right? And then she wheels and goes, ‘Oh, Jimmy, I want you to meet my husband.’
>And I don’t even remember the rest of the evening.
One time in 4th grade 2 kids taller than me took my game boy without my consent and put in a game of monkey in the middle. I fucking hated and got mad as fuck and punched one of them in the gut. I was so full of fucking rage everything after that is a blur. Seriously though this isn't about getting stronger or societal norms. Fuck with me and I'll destroy you
Wasn't there an episode with the latter type of bully? Mr. Bones' nephew or something?
I was like that for a while then I found out after one incident that I'd accused and attacked the wrong guy when the guy who did actually fuck with he came over, confessed and apologized after the guy I had attacked had gotten suspended as he had a reputation as a troublemaker so none of the teachers believed him when he said he didn't do anything.
at that point I realized that's not the person I wanted to grow up to be
I'm still fully capable of turning my brain off and going apeshit but now I can hold back and asses the situation and the lasting consequences I'd face if I did so, so most of the time I realize its not worth it and I'll feel just as much better if I just go scream at the river later
I think he means Bebe, who was a regular on the show, dropped Roger with one punch after her revealed her terrible haircut to an entire party, and in one episode more or less cornered Doug to go to a dance with her (where the gimmick was girls have to ask boys to the dance and not the reverse. *shrugs*)
he also has some depth to his bullying. he didn't need to extend a hand to sumo during the rocket episode but he did anyway.
and this is why she sucks. getting paired with the MC is just a cheap way for redemption.
REDPILLED
Only Judge Dredd types are good and only for fucking with people in power.
You know how HR and mini bosses at minimum wage cucking jobs act like? exactly like an immature unprofessional bitter power hungry angry loser you'd expect out of forum moderators. These people should not be allowed to fire, it's abysmal.
I was never bullied as a kid and I turned out to be a real wimp.
Remember when Doug SCREAMED whdn he found out Roger got rich in the Disney pilot? Doug is a spiteful little dick
He also insisted there was no way in hell Skeeter was an advanced genius and was really pissed at *his best friend* over that for some reason. Specifically Skeeter. Not just that "oh no, this means my best friend is going to swap schools and I'm pissed he won't be around" but something far more jealousy driven.
am i high, or does a surprisingly good rule 63 drawing of roger is out there? i remember it's not even explicit, or anything
anyways, if the bully is hot, dick that bully
