i thought it was cute how they put little nooses on wednesdays plaits
>ITT people will complain how they don't look like how they should, even though this is their original look
The teaser trailer opened with a promotion for gay marriage. I'm not gonna bother with this overtly politicized bullshit.
Snowflake.
>You won't pay to see propaganda?
>WOTTA SNOWFLAKE LOLOLOL
latino guy here, in spanish it looks like its trying way too hard, dont know for other languages though
The only one I have a complaint with is Gomez, but that's only because Raul Julia spoiled me with handsome, dashing Gomez
The rest are fine
I agree with Gomez. I hate how round he is. Pugsly and Fester makes sense to look that way but Gomez? Nah
I don't care for Wednesday's massive 5head either but eh.
>second her performance go
meh.
the design have potential, but the animation/setting itself looks like a generic Ilumination movie, it doesnt' seem to want to exploit the weird shapes of the bodies and all.
Story also looked really generic so far, and barely on the spooky side at all.
It's nice that it doesn't look like the same old Pixar styled crap but the eyes on the characters look so dead and lifeless. Overall it feels like some cheap European animated cartoon.
>stop being an individual already! OBEY!
it's not even ironic anymore.
I want to like it but as user said but I agree it's trying too hard. They keep pushing the "and you thought YOUR family was weird? lol" message when the whole point is that it should need to be said, its supposed to felt after you see past all their insanity.
I want to say that's a premise hook line that fits the brand perfectly, and as an animated kids' movie there will be children who have nevwr heard of Adam's Family before that this is geared towards.
I think they're probably banking on about an equal turnout of older people going for Nostalgia (nuPixar sequals, TMNT movie reboot) as kids. Who knows, this could be the new Nightmare Before Christmas/ Courage the Cowardly Dog that gets the new generation into the dark gloomy style, at least for some.
Did they show Cousin It?
wednesday looks like a fucking q-tip
>I want to say
doesn't make it right, you overgrown toddler.
>Woman in the middle chair
>Implying she's the leader
umm it's called the man of the house sweetie. So glad liberals have ruined yet another thing.
Morticia was always the leader of the household:
>"The real head of the family... low-voiced, incisive and subtle, smiles are rare... ruined beauty... contemptuous and original and with fierce family loyalty... even in disposition, muted, witty, sometimes deadly... given to low-keyed rhapsodies about her garden of deadly nightshade, henbane and dwarf's hair..."
-Charles Addams
It was a quick scene showing a gay couple, calm your tits loser.
Gomez was a pretty hefty dude in the original works, and he was also drawn intentionally ugly.
Raul Julia and John Astin being as handsome as they are has skewed the perception of Gomez.
It feels like it's going to be painfully generic, even the faggots here are struggling to find something to be angry for since it's so average.
The litte character bits shown so far are almost perfectly on the mark to the original cartoons... except Gomez, who seems to have more John Astin in him than anything. Even the voice actor is clearly gunning for an Astin-esque Gomez.
>Imagine being that cucked
Hypothetical scenario, would you accept these terms and conditions to have Morticia as your devout love?
Can anyone blame him? Aside from the overall premise, the first thing that comes to mind when you think "Adams Family" is typically the debonair horndog Gomez's relationship with his cool yet amused Morticia. It's too iconic to pass up trying to revive.
>fierce family loyalty
That's the opposite of being a cuck.
Fucking summerfags
Oh no, don't get me wrong, Astin is my favorite Gomez. Just noteworthy because their take on the others seemed alot more in line with the originals than later takes.
Is this a kids’ movie or for a teen/adult audience? The directors made Sausage Party so I’m wondering.
>original works
wait, there was AF before the live action show? Fuck me, I didn't even know
Yep, Charles Addams cartoons.
The family is named Addams because of him.
None of the characters even had official names until the live action show, despite Morticia having been aound for almost 15 years at that point.
THEY DO WHAT THEY WANNA DO SAY WHAT THEY WANNA SAY LIVE HOW THEY WANNA LIVE PLAY HOW THEY WANNA PLAY DANCE HOW THEY WANNA DANCE KICK AND THEY SLAP A FRIEND THE ADDAMS FAMILY

I remember singing that song to myself while on the bus home from school and the kid in the seat told me to shut the fuck up because the song was so annoying.
He was right to do so.
It could be the greatest take on the characters ever, and the majority will dismiss it because Morticia and Wednesday aren't fapbait.
When Fester is the patrician's choice.
They're using the marketing to push LGBTQ+ politics, so I wrote it off after the first trailer, sorry.
>Morticia and Wednesday aren't fapbait.
This will stop nobody, and I mean NOBODY from fapping anyway, R34 and twitter artists have spoiled us all
Gay people have casually existed your entire life and now suddenly that's "politics" because you're more offended by it. That's literally why the media needs more of them shown alongside everyone else until your fragile emotions get over it.
Gomez worships the ground Morticia walks on, of course she is the head of the family. At the same time she isn't a bitch about it either, she very much respects her husband.
They have an intense wholesome love.
LGBTQ individuals comprise less than 1% of the population. They really shouldn't be featured in anything; as a census population they're a non-entity.
Gay couples exist everywhere and are never going to stop existing, when are you going to get used to something normal?
I see them every single day. Those numbers have to be because they just don't take the census, which has skewed census numbers for every single topic as long as we've been doing them.
i already fap to them this morning
>On screen for less than a second, not even animated, has no bearing on the actual movie
>REEEEE BOYCOTT MUH LIBERAL AGENDA
Stay seething
Reminder that Gomez, being an extremely successful banker back in the days where banking was where the money was at, essentially is filthy stinking rich as fuck, and the family constantly throws money around blowing up or destroying their mansion with a hijinx almost hourly.
Not that idiot, but just because you live in an area where LGBTQ are doesn't mean other people in other areas do. In fact most groups are typically concentrated in a county or city because that's how bias works. Blacks take up a large population in Georgia near the Atlanta area. That doesn't mean there's a large group of blacks in Ohio or Nebraska. And the 1% statistic doesn't mean there's "one for every nintey-nine in your area." The consensus was taken all-across the country and added up to that percentage.
I'm kind of interested in this but my main experience with Adams Family was reruns of the TV show and I kind of can't deal with Morticia not being hot
Middle-aged Anjelica Huston was pushing it, but the cartoon designs....
is... is this what all those people who wanted Captain Marvel's ass to be hanging out felt?
If someone lives in San Francisco then I can see how they'd assume homosexuals make up 50% of the American population. And people who live in major urban areas like LA or NYC or SF tend to almost never leave the city.
user, you're too 1-dimensional about this. Put yourselves in their shoes. What would be more successful for the movie if we choose to go about a trailer sketch featuring other numerous families?
>A. Include LGBTQ+BLT families, lots of those shop at Hot Topic for Invader Zim/ Nightmare Before Christmas stuff, right? They'll rake in a nice few thousand tickets
or
>B. We don't, and manchildren across the country, especially ones with Youtube influences, boycott and protest our movie for not doing something as simple as showing two same-gendered stick figures next to each other
like cmon man, do you want them to lose money? It doesn't even matter what you, I, or the studio believes in.
What the fuck was wrong with Anjelica Huston.
I feel like her demeanor is sexy enough on it's own, but that's just me
>enough on it's own
Excuse me, thanks for catching my mistake.
Well, the point of the narration is that every family is unique in their own way so I guess showing somehing unusual but real makes sense.
>Gay
>Normal
Poor choice of words.
Nigga I'm offended by it and I'm gay myself.
says the man on the cartoon board
Imagine being weak enough to think Anjelica Houston is “pushing” anything.
40 years ago? Nothing
20 years ago? Well, time affects each of us differently, you see
I like what we’ve seen so far, but it’s difficult to find any fanart from the movie yet. I really want to see fanart of the new Wendsday becuase shes sonxute and I love how she looks in the new movie. Anyone want to help a bro out?
so we also shouldn't feature rich people?
They honestly looked better in the live action movie
>sonxute
???
ironic but relevant
I literally googled it, and google pulled up "so cute", and I realized they just typo'ed. Man, technology these days, huh?
Ugly character designs
You've never seen anything Addams family related before, have you?
The TV producers wanted for Carolyn Jones because she had experience in horror films and looked close enough to Morticia for the role from her headshots, but the person doing makeup on the show couldn't be bothered to do their job properly.
Charles Addams didn't design her with beauty in mind, but with more of a looming, gothic elegance. Which is attractive in itself for sure, but her being an 8/10 and that being the only thing on your mind means you're missing the point of her design just like the 60's show did.
snowflake
I like the ideas behind the designs, but not how they actually look, if that makes any sense.
I concur, actually. It makes sense to me.
The Addams Family is older than Superman.
>there are Yea Forumsmrades who haven't read the original New Yorker strips
Don't like the look. Don't care. Probably won't ever watch. May shitpost some threads when bored.
where's a good gallery or archive of them?
point was why the fuck should we not ffeature a group because they are rare?
>ffeature
Don't get nervous.
Don't like the voices they choose. Very amateur.
daily reminder the Addams' are are just as bigoted and narrow-minded as everyone else, they just have their standards shifted. They look down on normies and fear their influence on Wednesday and Pugsly.
Anjelica Housyon was fucking PERFECT appearance-wise for Morticia.
>Anjelica Housyon
I know this is more like the comic but I did like Wednesday back when she was cute. Also the ugliness of the characters is less offputting in a still, drawn cartoon on paper than it is in high tech CGI.
>When the characters were given names for the television series, he was originally going to be called "Pubert" (a derivation of the word puberty, possibly a reflection of his age) but it was rejected as it sounded too sexual, and the name Pugsley was chosen instead. (The name Pubert was later used when Gomez and Morticia have a third child in the film Addams Family Values.) The Lurch Files' Addams Family Tree lists Pugsley's middle name as Pubert, probably as an homage to Charles Addams' original suggestion.
wednesday didn't have a cone head in the old newspaper comics
no one can top based raul julia though
This
>so we also shouldn't feature rich people?
Unless they're a plot point in the setting? Not really.
The girl-next-door high-school love story doesn't need a rich person randomly showing up.
The story about the rich people doing shit (Richie Rich) should
The story about gay people (The Birdcage, let's say) should totally involve gay people.
The story about a poor mexican village being harassed by banditos? No real need for a rich gay dude there. No need for a black guy either, despite his appearance making it more diverse.
>The story about gay people (The Birdcage, let's say) should totally involve gay people.
>The story about a poor mexican village being harassed by banditos? No real need for a rich gay dude there
Addendum: No need for a RANDOM rich gay dude there
rich gay dude could be a fun side-character, but shouldn't be a nameless background character
I really like the look of it, but the aesthetic is the only part I know about it
Is Pubert going to be in the movie?
The Addams family doesn't really care for the LGBT movement.
will Pugsley be allowed to be his own character again instead of just being Wednesday's lackey?
I feel the last time he was allowed to be fun was in the 90's cartoon.
On the one hand, I think the Addamses would approve of people who choose to describe themselves as “queer.” On the other hand, I’m sure they wouldn’t like the rainbows.
BRING ME PICTURES OF WEDNESDAY ADDAMS!!!
I don't even remember what Pugsley is supposed to be except a fat gross child.
he used to be creative child of the children, he made experiments in the lab and invented stuff.
That characterization was mostly seen in the black and white serial and in the cartoons, but the movie dropped it completely.
this is all I've got
>b-but it's their original look!
And it looks like shit, what's your point?
He's the creative and energetic kid, and generally used to be the clever one of the kids until the movies made him a dumb bloke(the only depictions since the movies to actually portray him as intelligent is The New Addams Family and this new movie, assuming we can trust the trailer).
Overall, I like the direction towards the original comics. But I've kind of wanted to do deviant things to Wednesday since Addams Family Values, and the lightbulb head is really turning me off.
And she didn't have said lightbulb head in the original comics...so are they deliberately trying to discourage pervy thoughts on this version of Wednesday? Which just makes me want to perv on her all the more...
