Robots would take WAY longer to access 'memories' than humans, given they use the current architecture of computers. Sure, they could remember everything, but the access to these things would take forever, meaning that they can actually not remember EVERYthing, just ANYthing.
Computers also barely even come close to the processing power of the human brain.
Sure, we can't do math as quickly, but if anything I don't think the robots Kat converts in this way should crash. I think that the additional inputs and the great processing power of a brain should be overwhelming, but the new body should be easily able to adapt to the limited mind the robots had before. I don't think there's a reason to make them go insane.
If anything, Tom should probably aproach it more like

memory access speed is not really about tech, and mostly about programming choices. database are slow as shit because no matter what, it's mostly text based. A well design memory tree in native language means direct access to basically anything no matter the size. welcome to memory pointers.

We'll never make AI with that mindset.
We need to change the fundamental architecture to resemble that of the brain, otherwise it'll never be able to efficiently do things like accessing memory and learning new things.
Also, keep in mind that if you don't do it like that, even if we manage to one day make an ai, if we wanted to give it human emotions and abstract thinking and reasoning, you'd have to emulate all that with programming as well if you ever even want to pass the turing test.
We haven't even scratched at the surface of that and since it's all simulated, a machine like that can never be a true AI, it'll always just be a VI.
It's just extremely inefficient and anyone who thinks we can truly make proper AI with pic related is an idiot.

the turing test is a wrong approach, because it implies the manner in which you get your answers is not important, and a database with fuzzy logic choice can pass it in simplified forms already.

I mean an actual human and the AI, compared directly, by talking to them. We aren't even close to passing the turing test that way.
And we won't be, even in a hundred years, because the classic Computer, as it is structured today will only ever be able to have simulated intelligence. It will never be able to actually think for itself. All it can do is to analyze patterns and react with patterns.
