Just finished this and loved it what did you guys think? Did you hate it like everything else?

Actually OP it may surprise you but Yea Forums likes a lot of stuff. The thing is though, we rarely talk about shit we like, and more conversation is spawned from that we hate. But to get to your question, yes, it got positive buzz around here from what I understand. Cliff is great, and this is the first time in a long while I've cared about Cyborg. You ask me, they should just dump him off The Justice League and throw him on a Doom Patrol book.
I think the Yea Forumsnsensus was that it was great. Personally, I loved it.
Reminder that Vertigo is dead.
The label is all but meaningless anyways
It's the only DC live action property I've enjoyed since Flash season 1, and a big part of that is that the creators weren't embarassed by the source material for once. They embraced how insanely goofy the premise was and it made an otherwise flawed show very charming
Nobody talks about good stuff after it airs because there's nothing to bitch about. With the end of season 1, threads died down, so yeah it was pretty good.
I've watched nine of the episodes so far. I love it. Captures a lot of the flavor of Morrison's run while adding some TV spirit to it. The Danny episode and the cult two parter are probably my favorite episodes so far.
Everyone's acting is tremendous, but I think I like Negative Man's arc the most. Also the best Cyborg has been since Teen Titans in any incarnation.
>The thing is though, we rarely talk about shit we like, and more conversation is spawned from that we hate.
I feel like this indicates a problem with Yea Forums as a whole. Most people actually discuss shit they like and why they like it. If all you talk about is what you hate, then you have issues
I've read bits of Morrison's run, Johns' issues, and Way's run and out of all of them, I consider this the superior rendition. I feel like it takes the best aspects of these characters and synthesizes them into people that are generally fascinating to watch. Cliff and Rita were absolute standouts in my eyes. This scene was absolutely amazing at selling how far each of them had grown as people.
youtube.com
My only issue with Rita is that she's too Clayface and not enough Elasti-Woman. I'm not expecting the go-to 50ft Woman routine every episode, but cmon, at least do more than flesh monster
Yea Forums and pretty much everyone else fucking loved it. Diane Guerrero is now my waifu.
>all those dislikes
do normies hate this
>Johns' issues
Geoff Johns wrote Doom Patrol?
he did something with them for new 52 iirc
What's so great about this scene is how character based it is while also being completely ridiculous. Rita's growth over the course of the series was amazing.
I believe that if we were to get a season 2, then we will absolutely get Kaiju Rita. I feel like there was a wasted oppurtunity with her not going giant mode to fight Whiskers and Ezekial but I'll take what I can get.
Maybe not a full arc, but he wrote them for a couple issues in his Justice League series. Basically a more approachable version of Morrison's version with the Chief being the engineer behind everything.
>Rita's growth over the course of the series was amazing.
I'm baffled by how much I enjoyed her character growth throughout the season. Her defense of Cliff during the Therapy Patrol episode really warmed my heart.
Stupid question, but just how powerful is Flex Mentallo? I know he can basically reshape reality but I'm not quite sure the extent to which it operates. Also are his muscles all show no go or do the deliver? How close was this version to the comic version?

>Everything about this scene is amazing. He's a humble romantic that genuinely takes pleasure in doing things for other people. I was grinning like an idioit the whole way through.
>Kaiju Rita
My only real complaint with season 1 was how little they did with her powers. But I suppose first they had to work on her character and will hopefully then focus on her mastering her powers in season 2.
I would settle for just stretching at this point
It's the first live action show I have enjoyed in a long time and I fucking hope it doesn't get cancelled.
I don't think you've been around Yea Forums for enough time.
It was good but they did Crazy Jane dirty, she was my favorite character in Morrison’s run and now she’s just Jessica Jones
Overall really dug the show. I liked that they embraced being weird and zany and had plenty of easter eggs.
The only thing I wasn't a fan of was making Cliff just a dumb joke all the time. I think introducing Cyborg first season was a mistake which I know they did it so normies can have at least one recognizable name. I didn't hate his character I just thought it took away from the core Doom Patrol feel. Oh and Alan Tudyk really got into his character and I loved that he hammed it up.
I don't get why she was such a cunt to Cliff all the time, 1st instance being when she freaked out that he killed a bunch of bad guys despite her being the one who started the whole thing by violently killing people.
The other instance being when Cliff told her she was being a cunt to everyone and everyone was sick of her shit so she storms out in a big huff
>Most people actually discuss shit they like and why they like it.
It gets old after a while. Everyone has the same thing to say about it, whatever it may be.
I do hope DP gets its second season, though. Even if the DC app crashes and burns.
It took a bit to get through the first 2-3 eps because Jane was annoying the crap outta me and I'd just turn it off but once it got going holy crap it was fantastic.
When this was announced I had zero faith they'd go anywhere near Danny or Flex. Mr.Nobody was perfect and it went into the very weird by the final episode.
It was a huge sad-fest, a big bummer, and I loved it. Are they really canning this, and keeping Titans?
To be fair, I haven't seen Titans, so I don't know how I feel about that.
To be fair, Alan Tudyk is usually the best part in anything he gets.
Same here, live action Jane is nowhere near as likable, but I knew this going in.
Titans is edgy but fun and very enjoyable outside of the dumb hawk/dove/robin love triangle, Doom Patrol is without a doubt a far superior show though
theyre canning swamp thing not doom patrol. which is a good idea because other than the fx work and look of swampy himself the writing and acting on that show is hot garbage
Watched through it all but I can't say I like it. Too much of a psychological study of very damaged misfits without an ounce of heroism in them. While I don't think Cyborg was a good idea to bring into the fold, he is the best character simply for being the only one with a sense of heroics while also being the least shit sort of person.
too sjw, I know that it's pretty true to the comics, but it's still done in an obnoxious way. I don't mind a character being a faggot or trans, but I hate the "we are being persecuted because we suck dicks"
Frasier has such a shitty voice, god damn it
he was gay in the 40s m8, they actually were persecuted then.
>If all you talk about is what you hate, then you have issues
Welcome to Yea Forums (and yes, we have issues).
You need to go back.
bump
>Finished airing in US
How long before its in intl Netflix?
If There is a season 2 fix crazy Jane are the make her better or call her out on her shit
Never it's from the DC app
Did you feel like the last episode wasnt good as the rest?
It kinda...both ended up as a filler and was disappointing to boot.
I would rather leave it at doctor admitting his crimes or them stuck in the void.
Rita best girl.
Same.
Tied with Cyborg for best Girls, for me.
why did titans go on netflix then
>I would rather leave it at doctor admitting his crimes or them stuck in the void.
That would be pretty shitty since we don't know if we are getting season 2, I thought the finale was great but I watched it all over a couple of days so I wasn't waiting a week for it
DCU is US only, chum. When Titans finished airing, it went onto UK Netflix.
yeah right, if they weren't crucified, then no, they weren't. calling faggot a faggot isn't persecution
Tudyk fucking killed it as Mr. Nobody. This scene fucking gave me chills the first time I watched it.
youtube.com
It started off as a solid 9/10, but ended on just good enough 7/10. Well, "ended".
Much better than Titans, I think if it had less episodes it would've been something of Daredevil of DC's streaming service.
Vertigo was dead for years, all DC did was make it official.
It's exactly as forgettable as you would think and got retconned fairly early on when nothing was done with them until the Young Animal run.
Flex did some crazier stuff in the Morrison run but the show has been pretty close to the comic version. I'm assuming he makes the Pentagon round in season 2
Equal chance he'd gotten more shit for cheating on his wife. Adultery was a big deal back then.
They'd send you to prison for it in some cases.
I still mildly like Swamp Thing so far but it's clear they were straining under the executive mandate to make it a weekly police procedural.
that was before WB severed ties with netflix
I liked it a lot until the last episode. That was weak.
>weekly police procedural.
Oh how I wish those would just die already
Idiot executives trying to make procedural trash on a streaming app.
Fucking hell they didn't know what they were doing.
>I know he can basically reshape reality but I'm not quite sure the extent to which it operates.
With extreme exertion he managed to temporarily turn the Pentagon into a circle.
Yes, why would Jane have a problem with a father figure?
I did.
I need to see Rita get CYBORG'D.
>turn the Pentagon into a circle.
Not gonna lie, that is a pretty damn impressive feat.
