Why is Scrooge McDuck so popular?
Why is Scrooge McDuck so popular?
>old, rich asshole
He's what Americans aspire to be.
Europeans.
He's OG
I'm getting conflicting messages here
alright, Westerners in general. that better?
Ever read the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, OP?
It'll answer your question.
>Life and Times of Scrooge Mcduck
>Europeans love it
>Has his own monthly magazine in some countries
>MIckey has one too but ... Most people only read Donald and Scrooge comics
He's is Indiana Jones kept all the treasures for himself and cashed in and got rich off of raiding tombs and old forgotten temples.
he got a nice ass
>MCDUCK
NAH, IT'S MCFUCK NOW
That's because it references a lot of beloved Carl Banks era stories and tries to fit them together into a life story for Scrooge.
>Scrooge
>Giving away money for a suck
>Giving away money in general
What the hell? You can’t just go this far out of character and say it’s the character.
But it's not Scrooge Mcduck, it's Scrooge Mcfuck and therefore a whole different character.
Which do you pay more attention to: your friend(s) with money, or without?
Based
>Asians
>no ambition
Pick one.
They have ambition but it's for supporting the collective as a whole rather than individual wealth. Or at the least they have ideas of what to do with their wealth rather than, say, store it on some offshore island in the Panamas or some shit.
I imagine a Chinese Scrooge McDuck would reallocate his money to help the state instead of diving in a room full of gold.
Murica aspire to be on the same level as Euro
he's a qt
>Murica aspire to be on the same level as Euro
Explains why the US is going to shit.
Italy is Mickey's domain. The Ducks have a huge presence there as well, but their main European stronghold is Scandinavia.
Escapist character
He's rich, confidant and lives adventures
Because he worked hard for his wealth, loves his family, and doesn't let old age keep him from doing what he loves.
>loves his family
Not like that old excentric duck who tried to kill his heir tested his nephew by having him spend a night with a wild bear, years after having cut all ties with the rest of his family over money.
>excentric
>not centrally placed or not having its axis or other part placed centrally.
You mean eccentric?
He's old fashioned. He did have Donald revealed to be the thing held closest to his heart when Magica had frozen his grandnephews.
Top kek.
From what I can tell, he gain his wealth through hardwork...unless I missed stories where he gain money by starting wars or funding "freedom fighters" like a bunch of happy merchants or something. After all, folks do like other folks who worked hard for the money.
And he may be a tightwad but hey, he's from a time when nothing comes easy and everything had to be earned the hard way. Or I could be wrong.
He did that during the time in which he hated the world and everyone around him, so he just wanted to fuck with him.
He then grew to love his nephews after they proved to be just like him.
SCROOGE
FORMERLY CHUCKS
>stories where he gain money by starting wars or funding "freedom fighters" like a bunch of happy merchants or something.
He did something like that for a little bit after he drove his family away. Life & Times part 11- The Empire Builder from Calisota.
Because he's tougher than the toughies and smarter than the smarties and earned every cent he has square.
Why is Scrooge McDuck always portraited as a good guy?
He's extremely greedy, he has very little sympathy for others and frequently takes advantage of his relatives and friends for his own personal gains.
Because the life and times of scrooge McDuck is one of the best comic ever
Europeans love Donald. We like Scrooge but not at the same level as Donald.
>He did have Donald revealed to be the thing held closest to his heart when Magica had frozen his grandnephews
would you happen to have this page, by any chance?
Sauce ?
It's like if a jew randomly had empathy/compassion
e621.
I've seen that picture on tumblr before, I think it's the same artist but I wouldn't remember who it is.
>della and donald sharing a bed
You just know.
>american dream
>extremely intelligent, resourceful and clever, while still flawed, impulsive, obsessive and greedy
>always goes on adventures, with as limited means as possible due to being a cheapstake, making him the perfect vessel for adventure stories
>extensive rogues gallery
>tragic backstory, could not see his mom before she passed away, did not end up together with his true love, spent many years in solemn isolation, envies Donald for his ´family, all of these things carry weight because he is at fault
whats not to like, honestly a perfect comic character
>Shipping intensifies
Don't forget he would go full /m/ for the sake of his fortune, if needed.
>Got his wealth through hard work
>Now kids want the easy way out and shill bitcoins
Scrooge would probably think zoomers are scum.
He isn't portayed as a good guy in the good comics. Smart and tough, as the saying goes, but rarely a force of good. Scrooge does what he does either to increase his wealth or to protect what he has. What matters is where he will draw the line. He is good, even if he isn't a good guy per se. But his underlying motivation has always been greed even if that's an oversimplification.
That's also where the classic characterization of Glomgold comes from: he is Scrooge without limits. Without morals.
>oh boy she owns me now
There's also that infamous comic where they date while she's disguised.
>protect what he has
I liked how he was willing to fight the US army to defend his property.
I like how he is always one step away from being evil, but never truly lets is get to him
>Magica owns Donald in-canon
My boner
scrooge's better stories are some of the best duck comics
and he's a cool adventurer without being too much of a nice guy
Scrooge would ASK for money from people he'd fuck.
