My issue is, why doesn't he clash with ANY modern day politics?
Even if you're the nicest man in the world, if you got transported a hundred years in the future, there is bound to be a lot of legal/cultural things you're not going to mesh with.

Because the entire concept and creation of Captain America was somebody ahead of his time pushing for social equality and challenging everyone else to be better. Sam Wilson was one of the very first black super heroes and was treated as Cap's equal instead of a sidekick. Steve Roger's childhood best friend was gay. He was literally created as a social justice warrior.
