This is happening in Japan right now. Search #toonmix4 and bring back what you find. Let's have a thread for all these things we'll never see because no one bothers to scan them.

Who's this bird anyway?
>R-18
I want Clarence keychains or whatever those might be.
scans when?
do the west have something like this?
cause my god japan has so many of these conventions where they'll sale fan comics and merch
>nothing up yet on alicebooks
Europe probably has. I know there's heaps of indie comics festivals even in the smallest shitholes, but they largely just sell their own stuff, and then there's one guy drawing Touhou.
In the US, I doubt it.
Doing some armchair psychology here, but I'd say our fandoms are a tad too negative, egotistical, passive aggressive, and insecure to do this easily. Just look at pic related. While the fandom here was destroying itself, they just don't give a shit about that drama and love what they love, however imperfect.
This sort of thing requires a certain level of civility and live-and-let-live attitude that we've forgotten.
Too many things would be labeled as problematic
Parents would let their kids run free even into the adult section then complain to the media about kids seeing porn at a "kid event"
People not liking a certain ship will probably try to kill you
And many other problems that could arrive.
Sounds very much like an American problem.
It's worth noting this is an anthology doujinshi for a western show Japan has not had access to in a decade.
>What if Star was a boy selling futa Star x Marco doujinshi?
>uncle grandpa
>beary nice or whatever his name was and the helper robot that I think was voiced by tom kenny
That's why an event like this, comiket, or whatever could never happened in the US
at most it would just be OC comics, no fan comics
That's a magnet
The Western equivalent is "fanzines" that started with Star Trek fans. In general women have been more into printed fan media (which is why Comiket was at first mostly yaoi doujinshi) while men were habiting the internet, so these fanzine magazines were heavy on Kirk x Spock content. I still see fanzines these days, for something like Voltron and South Park.
>didn't even buy porn comics
how fucking weak
You have artist alleys at conventions though in my experience Europeans tend to me more into buying fan content while Americans mostly want official merchandise. Well you can be sure you couldn't sell pic related in USA if the rat hears about it. In Japan Sanrio is in same position and that's why there is no dojin content of their characters.
Now a fan boardgame is something you don't see every day.
For fanmade stuff? Your best shot is the artist alleys at larger conventions. All the cartoon related expos like CTN are mostly for career finding and the business end of things. Not much fun like a fans only event.
The animator of this project must be excited that it's internationally known to get something like this.
modern americans are too lazy to make quality stuff. you cant sell any fan goods when the qualitys shit. at most they can only share unfinished shitty cgs with no back ground on twatter
well he obviously can't show us if he did user.
IZ is available on amazon prime japan and I'm sure that's how most people knows about it
>pidge fondling bmo
>romelle and jerry
>ppgs flirting with shiro
Amazing.
>draw fan comic for an obscure kids show
>gets called a pedo even though the comic is super sfw
the fate that befalls anybody in the west who draws fan comics
There's plenty of good US merch. I have some Yakuza pins that would blow your nuts off. Magfest 2019 had a surprising amount of good shit, lots of artists selling some cool stuff. However, if you want books, there are just far too few artists willing to pay to do that. Prints, however, are very easy to find, but yeah most of those are just trash. Too many "my mom says my art is good" people with booths trying to sell shitty prints.
imagine the amount of times people buy some shitty print out of pity
Oh, that's good. I have zero idea what's on Amazon Prime, much less in Japan.
Please don't use "the west" when you mean "the USA".
Some conventions demand a portfolio from people who want to get in artist alley, but sadly if the person in charge happens to like tumblr-esque ugly prints then the whole alley will be full of shit like that.
I really like this artist's style
Most cons aren't going to give that much of a shit. They make money from selling these tables so they actually profit from not being picky. Once a con gets big enough, yeah, I'm sure they'll turn away some of the shitters but most of the time they don't have much of an incentive.
I remember seeing a post about a stall with a lapis/pearl doujin
There's a miscolor of panchito that got popular enough that some people draw him as its own character.
Why do asians draw so much better than artists from the US?
Took me a few seconds to realize they were South Park characters
some of you gotta go there and buy stuff and report it as an article. its a shame no american media is reporting events in japan like this. thats one of the reasons that the industry has stagnated. they only talk about themselves. someone gotta do it i think.
Its so wild to see new damien and pip content in 2019.
I think the event is gonna be wrapping up soon. Just waiting on the artists to post purchase links for their stuff.
Westaboos are sort of fascinating
probably a bit of confirmation bias. plenty of shit Asian artists, but eye goes for the better drawn who get their stuff out there and equates that to the whole, and it's easier to find shitty western artists cause they're using the same site and tags most people use regularly.
Any She-Ra stuff?
oh, here it is
Judging purely by the amount of westaboo fanart, I think She-ra did not make much of an impression, which is not surprising. Once the furor died down it didn't get much traction here either outside of representation/indentity crowds.
There's also the problem of SU still being extremely popular among the yuri fans.
i dont understand who the asians are but if they are japaense they simply have better fan activity and goods. those doujin scans and the amount of them are enough to prove it. theres no equivalent to it in the west or anywhere else.
I'd tile my kitchen with these
I like literally everything I am seeing here
She-ra didn't seem to take off so well despite getting a dub. A generic ugly magical girl show is just that, it doesn't have anything to offer for those who are into Western cartoons. Also being a Netflix show means you can watch it only on Netflix and not everyone has that access in the first place, Amazon Prime and Hulu are still more popular in Japan despite Netflix Japan having more content than Netflix USA.
Now it makes sense that disney is raking in fujoshit money with that disney otome mobile game
Has the doujin been scanned yet?
okay, where's the l*li stuff?
fat black weeaboo gets japanese people to love his show. What a world.
Westaboos are mainly fujoshi/shotacons.
It's interesting yet kind of sad going through the tag and seeing how much stuff would get an artist "cancelled" on a site like tumblr or twitter.
The Japanese fandom likes conflict and drama in fiction, not real life. American fandom hates conflict and drama in fiction, but creates it in real life.
How can you draw something like when there's no good characters like that in the first place
>Amazon Prime and Hulu are still more popular in Japan despite Netflix Japan having more content than Netflix USA.
Why is that?
It's still quite new, it takes time to get there
Really refreshing to see lots of OK K.O.! stuff this Toonmix. I remember asking about it the last event.
>American fandom hates conflict and drama in fiction
There's no point in making shit up if not a single person will believe you.
Glad to see someone appreciating the best Bart ship
>Parents would let their kids run free even into the adult section then complain to the media about kids seeing porn at a "kid event"
Literally no regular parent would be dumb enough to take kids to a con like this in the first place. Emphasis on "regular", because any parent that would already is a fan of those kinds of things and knows how things work.
Those bags are classy.
This is the same convention with pickle and peanut doujins, futa star and crossdressing marco doujins, and futa garnet with pearl doujins.
I'm thinking they can make do with whatever the west is putting out.
He's saying if a con featuring cartoon characters happened in the US, it would automatically be classified as "for kids" no matter what, and he's not wrong.
Pretty cool of Ian to attend there. I'd probably do the same if I was a creator of something, and of course buy everything.
There's also a small vidya con called UNLIMI EX3 happening just beside it. Some of the artists sells cuphead and Bendy merchs
feels bad man, wish I could go
is all the displayed art work in that image just little boys?
fujos are scary
It can't be helped when our cartoons have such good little boys
Nothing but fujoshit
At least is not Peridot/Lapis
I keep forgetting to ask my artist friend in Japan about these western toon cons. Haven't spoke in a while though.
"You wanna some fresh cow pies?"
Also, souce, please.
it'd never get past the lawyers suing for IP theft
If the west has their way they'll stop these events in the east as well..
Is that ManBearPig fighting Satan?
god I'm super jelly, I hope I get to attend one when I get there next year
The artist is @miyata__0529
>dat Panchito
IIR it was from a Mickey's Funhouse episode where they recolored Panchto's model as white so they can have another Mexican musician for the scene
is this shit even legal?
>ywn meet other fujo artists and do art exchange with them ;-;
Only in Japan senpai
>no R-18 tag on the cover
damn
>scans never
>probably even more unlikely since it's not porn
doujin artists don't really do these for profit, as usually the profit will only pay off the printing fees. This con is more like a way to exchange fan content within the doujin cirle/community
Yeah, from what I understand is sometimes the printing fees can exceed the amount of money earned from sales and the artists operate at a loss. Since people aren't making much money off it a lot of companies in Japan are willing to turn a blind eye to it.
I gues you haven't watched last season.
See, that's the difference between american fans and asian fans. Over there, they're just happy to exchange their fanzines and celebrate the shows. In burgerland, someone made a fanzine project for SU as a front to swindle fans of their money and fanartists of their work.
It’s seen as feee promotion except for something like Sanrio which is very strict about their image and doesn’t allow this. It’s same in US, someone like Trey Parker or Matt Stone don’t give a shit if you draw porn of South Park characters and profit from it just a little.
Fuck, I wish I knew. Could've tried to go.
As a former director on SU, he bought @gram_quartz's newest PD x Jasper x Pearl doujin as well
He has good taste.. her previous ones are top notch and I hope this encourages her to make more

He should finish rpgworld.
Didn't he give it an official ending in an episode for OK KO
Wait really?
Saying "Ian should finish rpgworld" is what anons say when they didn't watch OKKO and want to look like they liked someone's work before they got popular. aka. hipsters
You mean like artist booths at cons? Cuz theres a shit load of them yes.
i hope a straight doujin gets uploaded to nhentai one day
what a qt
what are you, amish? i've seen tons of lewd and autistic shit like that at western anime conventions. though admittedly no frollo fanarts. westerers in general don't make fancomics though, it's too much effort for very little money back when it sells for the same amount as a print.
meanwhile in America fans are busy begging for money on Patreon crap and Twatter.
human goofy is very scary
human mickey is aight
>i've seen tons of lewd and autistic shit like that at western anime conventions.
It's not the lewdness that's the problem. This is the age of guilt by association and the race to be offended. Imagine sitting an artist with a JasperxLapis abuse comic, next to someone who ships Pearl and Steven, next to someone who draws skinny Pink Diamond, next to someone who paints Garnet one shade lighter. Not a situation I'd ever care to deal with.
but pink diamond is skinny.
you know they probably do that in japanese internet but you just can't read moonrunes.
They don't at all. Instead they actually sell their finished products. Patreon crap is a pure desease in the west.
Artists don't tend to be the people brigading other artists, it's pretty much uniquely done by randos on the internet who look for reasons to be angry and are merely consumers of pop culture, rather than participants in it.
Someone has great taste
>Artists don't tend to be the people brigading other artists
I'm sorry, I suppose the way I worded it makes it seem as if I am concerned solely about the artists. I'm not. I am even more concerned about their fans, the brigading randos as you call them. The point is they're all going to be under one roof. I wouldn't put it past them to see cons as another avenue for deplatforming, which they do, as certain recent Yea Forums-related controversies have shown.
In a way, this is really more my lack of faith that cons would have the wherewithal to put their foot down and say "you children need to cut this out, we're not going to respond to this."
>certain recent Yea Forums-related controversies
Please elaborate. Did an autist finally open fire at an anime convention?
>that Milo Murphy group pose
True artistry.
They don't do this shit irl because it's ridiculous out of context, that context being the internet. It takes the unique conditions of the internet for the kind of echo chamber that produces the tumblr/twitter mobs, in real life they have to actually look at the people they're arguing with and realize they're talking to human beings instead of strawmanned pastiches. Their arguments and ideology aren't based in reality and can't survive there. Giving children unfettered access to the internet was a mistake.
If that's how things worked then social justice would have also remained on the internet.
>"the USA".
>"the Canada".
>"the UK".
>hw x finn WITH BMO
What?
NOOOO IT CAN'T BE!!! IS JAPAN..... ALL STARCO!?!?!?!??!?
If I understand you right, getting people disinvited or banned from cons in advance, mass reporting Patreon accounts, and pushing for more stringent censorship policies on websites - these things are not real world consequences?
I agree that people behave differently in face to face situations, but that doesn't mean online behavior can't have real world consequences.
Based Japanese Caballeros bro
I believe user is saying that having these people interact more irl would curb the extreme views they develop from largely online exclusive interactions, thus lessening how extreme they behave within that context.
Is this like... a westaboo con?
We do have what would amount to this, anime conventions
The reason we don't have this specifically is because the country is too big for something this niche to reasonably become financially successful
Japan is way more strict about copyright then the Us
Disney does not want its image shitted on too much in the internet age so it might slide
SJWs have a long history of going after people in real life. I think they would name and shame anyone who tries to sell lewd art.
Anime conventions have artist alleys, but these doujin events are nothing but artist alleys. Comiket is an "artist alley" of 30,000 groups. Financial success doesn't really factor here because making a profit at these events is optional.
The types of people who want to force their morality onto other people are always the loudest. I guess they find it easy to take over because plenty of nerds are pretty passive people.
>They don't at all.
They do. Definitely not smaller circles (who, yeah really do it out of love, like pretty much all the tables that have been posted in this thread) but I've heard plenty of behind the scenes drama, like harassing artists (semi-popular/popular preferably for promo) to contribute to anthologies so the organizers can rake in money/sell a lot. And no, the artists usually aren't compensated if they do contribute, even if the circle earns a profit upwards of 10 grand in burgerbucks (an actual thing I've heard happen). I've even heard of organizers spreading lies/gossiping about artists who refuse to contribute for free.
Japanese start using patreon as well but even before that they have their own equivalents in form of fantia, enty and pixiv fanbox.
Isn't one of japan's whole things that you spread drama in private/secret rather than just lay it out for everyone to see?
less of an impending threat of being sued/shamed into Oblivion
>human mickey looks to be a book full of human designs for Disney properties? (kana for "design" and kanji for "book" at the end, that's as much as I can read)
>human Goofy+Max says "R-18"? oh god
human mickey looks like goofy's kid max
human goofy reminds me of shampoo from ranma 1/2
I don't get why people hate patreon; it's a good idea and literally how art has worked since medieval era
Maybe it's ugly and generic to you, but Japanese think it's cute because they're fed up with generic anime look. The fact that it's Netflix exclusive is definitely hurting it, I've seen people who wanted to watch it but didn't want to sign up for Netflix just for one show.
>they're fed up with generic anime look
This is projection and there is no generic anime look.
>go on pixiv
>search toonmix4
>lotta stuff
>suggested tags: south park, 3 cabs, disney
>Voltron? eh whatever
>search for "toonmix4 Oswald"
>"toonmix4 オズワルド"
>mfw no matches
at least there's a map of which table to go to in order to get your Panchito x Blanco selfcest doujinshi.
>Patreon crap is a pure desease in the west.
Funny since there at least 2 popular Patreon clones in Japan (Pixiv Fanbox and Fantia).
>More jaspis doujins
oh yes
>there is no generic anime look.
kek
I know what I said and I meant exactly what I said.
Yeah why BMO?
Well boys, we did it. Racism is no more
Getting doujins made of a small scale project is now a goal of mine. Downside: I wouldn't even be able to purchase it.
>Glimmer has an excellent design
She's the worst designed character in the show. I still think she's a cute little eggplant
>posts picture of cops and claims racism is over
I'd believe so, given the honne and tatamae thing.
Honne/tatemae is just the Japanese terminology for something mundane that we all do.
Oh, I see. I was thinking outside of the context.
no but acting against it is branding your company as a spoilsport cunt pr-wise, just think of the way people in fangame circles think of nintendo nowadays
>As a former director on SU, he bought @gram_quartz's newest PD x Jasper x Pearl doujin as well
Wait, seriously? Jesus fuck.
Guess he ain´t showing that on his twitter now that he makes a kid show.
In the west you have to protect your IP fiercely or risk weakening yourself in later cases. That's not the case in nip land so as long as you keep it small, noone is going to care about your Eclipsa x Maleficent On Ice doujin. The rights holders can still tell you to fuck off, but most see it as free advertising.
Sending some of the profits made from fanstuff to the rights holders is, allegedly, considered the right thing to do as well.
Japanese are so based
>In the west you have to protect your IP fiercely or risk weakening yourself in later cases
That only applies to trademarks.
Toonmix, and possibly one more, is the only one dedicated to western stuff.
user, half of nyaas traffic is from nip land. They certainly do know how to torrent.
Well, literally every Japanese watcher I've seen thinks Glimmer is the cutest character.
There’s also an event for Amecomics (DC and Marvel) only too. You can also see South Park and Voltron at normal fujoshi events.
What the fuck am I reading, there's plenty out there.
Wonderloli, Loligum, Gwen, Raisins crew, QT2, the list goes on and on.
I'm searching for this project but only found that song from Jimmy Hendrix or that stand from Jojo's. Name of the author?
>twitter.com

funny how japan is more advanced creative and diverse about "western" cartoons kek
a shame that the west or america doenst even have an event like this. very boring.
>stacy doujin
>no 18+ tag
Darn.
>carl x monogram
I didn't need to know that existed.
>Ingen
Lel, that means "noone" in my language.
>someone who paints Garnet one shade lighter
That was funny. And a testament to just how cancerous modern fandoms can be.
Isn't this illegal? They're selling copyrighted characters. I guess in Japan the laws are different?
Then I guess there's no need to seperate things between the words anime and cartoon anymore
>as certain recent Yea Forums-related controversies have shown.
You can't post that and then not post any details. Did the Basugay bomber finally snap or was it something else?
scroll up
>be small-time user artist
>draw lewds of female character
>crazy bitch brigades other people into naming and shaming me
>parent company/rightsholder sues me for everything I own
>die in gutter penniless
It's not that some artists don't want to. It's more that nobody wants to take the risk and end their life/career early.
Wait so does this mean America can get their lawyers and stop this reverse weeaboo shit or can they do nothing because it's being done in Japan?
>It's an anthology book of your favorite subject
>122 pages
>Artist advertised on the cover is fantastic
>Look inside
>Cover artist gets a single 9 page story
>Mediocre artists get multiple 20 page stories
>Actual garbage toddler scribbles get book space
>Last 30 pages are written works with one or two images sprinkled in between
reminder to everyone saying there is no drama in asian fandoms that a Taiwanese artist recieved cookies with needles because of undertale ship drama
>they do nothing because it's being done in Japan
this seems to be very common with fanzines, I always wondered this since the artists were chosen and pre-screened by the organizers of the zine
sad. and another advantage of anime/manga, cause its from japan and nobody in the west really cares about copyrights and lewd shit, since japanese fans do everything before they do.
>This is as close to actual OK K.O.! merch as we'll ever get.
>drawing cartoons in different style

It's a tad more nuanced than that. You may already know all this, but here's a little blogging about it.

That's one I was thinking of.
Not a big Voltaire fan though. If I want horror themed stuff I'll listen to Nekromantix.
Seems weird to me that Disney would order a daycare to repaint one of their walls because Mickey Mouse was on it and yet they let the Japs show everyone The Three Caballeros getting fucked in every hole.
there's also plenty of arts-n-crafts tier stuff

Man that's some cool stuff.
America needs something like this. Absolutely.
Not a fan of the 4th, on account of the song being shit. If she keeps the pace a new one should be ready around December.
Good luck not getting dry-anal fucked by legions of legal teams. Assuming you survive that, best of luck not being shamed by SJWs/prudent conservative culture warriors.
Alright so if I made my own intellectual property that's just chinese bootleg of popular stuff but made my own boardgame to sell at an American convention, would I at least turn heads?
>LT 2019 bag
Dude, what the fuck I want one.
Undertale merch is forbidden to make but it's not like those filthy japs respect the original content creators
and then they throw a fucking tantrum when a western artist reposts one of their artworks
>Now, I won’t stop individual fans from selling the following items at cons:
>- Prints, charms, buttons, keychains, stickers, etc.
>- Most handmade items
>- Undertale zines/fanbooks/doujinshi
The ban is only for companies or if you sell them on somewhere like Redbubble.
why literally only japan does this. on top of that everything looks good.
>Toonmix again
It has been already a whole year? Damn.
It's twice a year
>At least is not Peridot/Lapis
One of the books in that pic is
they don't, have you ever been to a convention?
everything would be considered problematic in today society
draw a sfw gravity falls comic and your a grown man? Get accused of being a pedo
draw a ship that someone doesn't like? That person will give you cookies filled with needles
and after all that, you'll get a cease and desist letter from IP holder lawyer
To be honest the needle thing happened in Taiwan, not USA. American SJWs tend to whine a lot but in the end the most they do is doxx someone or complain on Twitter. Just laugh at them and tell them to deal with it, and that's it.
Most of it look too degenerated to be socially acepted in the rest of the world of even be the behavior of a functional human being.
And no,I live in a third world shithole and shit like fanarts from francoamerican cartoons are sold here, but thos kind of conventions are mixed with jap things.
didn't some lunatic give a con tabler a brownie with a needle in it because she drew the wrong type of shipping?
I'm guessing it was a SU or Voltron fan
I would have put Shillra in there also but that show has no fans
there are still tons of parents who would leave their kids at the theater alone to watch whatever cartoon movie is playing
just so they can fuck off and do whatever
>Finn x HW
SCANS WHEN?
Undertale actually
damn I didn't think of the video game franchises
it doesn't even have to have cartoon characeters
there's a sci-fi/fantasy convention in my area that every year some stupid parent complains its not appropriate for their kids
JP fans who love western cartoons are too powerful
I own that doujin. I'll upload it someday.
Of course they are, after all they decide who's gay and who's not
i understand it but its still sad as fuck. then i have to hope some motivated westerners join toonmix. probably we need such motivated and international creators now.
The artist said he would post the scans after Toonmix4 is over
>titty mousepad
>Shiro bottoming to Keith
Kek, perfect. In the West people would scream about the fetishization of homosexuality.
I don't know, people on tumblr at least seemed pretty "horny on main" for Shiro.
...
>mousepad
>strap
Eeeh, you sure? It does look like one, but why the fuck would anyone put a strap on a mousepad?
Also, titty mousepads is a great invention.
Shiro lewds are the only good thing to reliably come out of Voltron fandom.
Anything with Gumball?
There also was a case in New Zealand where a woman slalked and harassed a Harry Potter forum moderator for 8+ years, but she was straight on clinically crazy
>clinically crazy
Now I'm getting flashbacks to that crazy Spike fangirl.
Thx
Is it a bad sign when I can't differentiate a doujin from a regular fanart? Is it my fault?
nope, just means the artist is good at capturing the official art style
What is this I don't even. A doujin IS fanart.
Doujins are fanart
I mean, Is it my fault if I cant' differentiate the porn shit from the normal non-erotic fanart? Is it my fault?
Why do the japanese get all the good things? God I'm so jealous.
thats probably because you read doujin too much. read normal manga or comics in black and white more.
It literally says "Shiro mini-oppai mousepad strap" on the bottom, whatever the hell that means.
Any Regular Show?
Any Craig of the Creek?
Any Loud House?
Any Spongebob?
Any Family Guy?
Thing is, copyright law in Japan is more or less the same as the US, maybe even more strict. They can sue and shut these events down, but that would be alienating a good portion of the fanbase by doing so, thus losing much more money.
>great art
>no porn

But user the one who gave her the cookie was from Tumblr. The artist got it at a con in America.
Sometimes I forget how diehard the Cabs fanbase is
>But user the one who gave her the cookie was from Tumblr. The artist got it at a con in America.
Do americlaps actually make their cookies with needles in them?
I have never heard of this before
Nevermind I’m fucking stupid, it was in Taiwan. I’m just misremembering it. Disregard this post.
I thought it was because of all the guro art she drew
You don't eat your choco-needle cookies for dessert after a fresh knife-stew dinner?
A bunch of Tumblr artists were saying that the artist deserved it. Because “fiction totally affects reality and fictuional characters matter more than people”. That and some Tumblr users said that there should have been more needles.
All the nasty replies are in the notes of this post.

How the ever living fuck did Undertale get such a cancerous fanbase this bad
Blame Tumblr for getting crazy about the whole thing. They were the ones who became gatekeepers.
>all the confirmation bias in this thread
you disgust me.
also the vast majority of this shit are porn comics featuring children's cartoon characters, good luck pitching that, retards.
what's Clarice doing in all this 3 cabs stuff?
Every japanese steven universe art has Jasper in it
There's some fan stuff on Etsy
i was told that oswald was big in japan.
but, source material runs out i guess
It's actually pretty amazing that cartoons and anime helped us reconsile adter we nuked the shit out of their imperial asses
I don't get it. Oswald is pretty big in Japan and gets tons of merch and attention, where is anything for him at this event? Like even one booth or piece of fanart/merch?
I guess it would help if he had a fujo ship outside maybe Mickey, but even Mickey and Goofy are here
Are there pepe doujins?

Bitch you are exceedingly stupid. Most cons in America don't let the vendors sell porn for this very reason.
You’d be surprised how much Japan likes Uncle Grandpa.
That reminds me, is "I Hate Fairyland" popular over there? I doubt it would get at least one table, but if can do it, then maybe there's hope?
Clarice is actually really popular in Japan and gets tons of character appearances in their parks and
merch
Person probably likes her also and thinks she's cute so they add her into their Cabs stuff
>no one bothers to scan them.
only porn gets scanned. and popular ones at that.
I don't get the love for OK KO in Japan. The show is ass and disrespects the art of animation.
japs don't animate things. their shows are totally stationary so things that move are a novelty to them
Is there a reason he attracts crazies?
There are worse shows to be upset about.
things with deep lore and good writing always attract lunatics
to his credit, he doesn't egg them on or really interact with the fanbase that much. he just drops content then spends all his time fucking around in japan
it's different too what they normally have in there own country, nobody is required to think like you and only you user, get over it.
I've always wondered why Westaboos were never drawn to Megas XLR, Sym Bionic Titan, and Ben 10 despite seeming like a good fit
Unfortunately yeah....
Probably because it's similar to the stuff they have seen already in anime. Although it would be cool to see some Sym-Bionic Titan doujinshis or fanart from these artists. So far on Pixiv, I have only seen one Japanese artist drawn fanart from the show.
Wtf are you taking about, Ben 10 is one of the most popular cartoons on the planet since it first aired. There’s a reason why it won’t die.
I ask myself this same thing every day. I’ll never understand what is about Undertale and Homestuck that attracts >those people? I’ve pretty much given up trying to understand.
>mysterious crab woman
JeJ
I know, I'm just saying it doesn't get attention from Westaboos
Makes me wonder if the Nips complain about some stuff not being fansubbed just yet
The Chinese fan subbed Venture Bros and Gumball (hell, they even fansubbed the episode with the Chinese bootlegs)
They probably do, since they prefer the original dubs over the Japanese ones.
Why is she so popular? I thought they would like Pearl and Lapis more.
Japan isn’t use to big buff women in anime , so it’s a novelty.
Titan and Megas never got a dub
Ben 10 did and it has decent views on Youtube
youtube.com
For real though, does this exist in the US for specifically animation and can it? I don't care if they don't have porn but just have the cool fanart stuff and comics
Closest you will get are online fanzines.
>The Japanese are fed up with "Generic anime" (aka Kyoani style).
>This is why they like She-Ra, which is the closest thing in western cartoons to KyoAni style.
?????????????
This thread is amazing
>they’re fed up with generic anime look
[citation needed]
Besides, that’s only one person speaking.
She looks so smitten with him, it's adorable.
They seem to like the idea of her as a buff damsel.
No, the western art community is full of autists who put the feelings of fictional characters on par with real human beings.
I should point out even if they did sell for profit as some really popular artists do it doesn't violate Japan's laws.
Unironically doujinshi would be covered under fair use in the u.s. because parody , but our laws pretty much neutralize fair use over time due to trademark laws and a lack of user owned franchises unwilling to do the ZUN copyright policy.
>there is no generic anime look
no generic anime style?
>first, my head would be like a little bean
>robot boots
>no thumbs???
>you gotta have blue hair
>mouth is real small when closed
>ridiculously huge when open
ARE YOU ASKING FOR A CHALLENGE?
Furries and or shipping too attracts the worst people.
>Since people aren't making much money off it a lot of companies in Japan are willing to turn a blind eye to it
Only in Japan does this reasoning work
>He only stole a loaf of bread
>"Just let him go; he means no harm"
>More stuff gets stolen
This is literally the poor holding the rich hostage while the poor gets away w/ no responsibility
>recieved cookies with needles
... and this is why no matter how "horrible" Western fandoms are, Jap (or Asian) fandoms are much, MUCH worse
I have to smirk knowing most of these won't be scanned and uploaded. Fuck pirates.
>Making drawings of characters
>"Stealing"
Why are Americans so obsessed with protecting imaginary properties?
No one wants to jack off to Oswald
Picked up Garnet X Steven stuff
>they're fed up with generic anime look.
So they developed a taste for low budget generic anime look instead?
>I can't differentiate a doujin from a regular fanart
What the actual fuck do you think a doujin is?
There are already enough flat-as-a-board women in anime.
Buff amazonians is where it's at now
This might be shocking but outside Yea Forums people actually like cartoons instead constantly bitch about them
>which is the closest thing in western cartoons to KyoAni style.
Fuck no. Kyoani may put out generic moebait with the same 3 character designs 90% of the time, but their animation is always top notch.
She-ra is literally toei-tier.
I was at an anime con last month and the hentai booth was front and center after all the industry booths. They're all covered and everything, but they had dakis with just stickers over the naughty bits in full view.
Closest thing we have is the artist alleys at cons, sometimes with adult art. I think part of it, quite frankly, is that American artists treat their art as their career, thus they expect to be paid the same rates that an actual company might charge for items. No way are they spending months making a comic and selling it for the equivalent of three dollars.
user, I'm gonna need an upload of that Garnet doujin on the double
I've only got one copy
>muh property
Some media is so niche it relies on obsessive fan community. Hell even Star Trek did, there’s no point in trying to fight it. People who draw charms and dojinshi barely profit from it but instead they give exposure to the show. There’s a reason why Matt and Trey said they are fine with people downloading South Park as long as it means they can get to watch it.
>Garnet x Steven
gross
>dat Garnet though
since May 8 in Tokyo MX 2 if we are exact actually
s.mxtv.jp
She's best gem
>tfw no obsessed Jap artist to make cute/lewd stuff of an obscure show you like
Japan have shit taste, both with anime and western cartoons
I'm sickened but intrigued. Give.
>99.5% of these will never be scanned
FUCK
>learn to draw at a very respectable level
>draw a lot of fanart for an IP
>go through the cost of printing and making merch out of it
>go through the trouble of spending days at a con selling it
>prices are super low and barely cover the material cost
>probably won't even sell all of it
Is this in any way profitable or is it done at a loss out of passion?
I'd gladly buy some of this shot off of them if only they were willing to offer internationally without retarded shipping prices.
Look up the Pixiv URL and you'll see more than you'd ever need.
Watch Black Magic M-66.
There are big name doujin artists who can make it big. Their booths at Comiket get massive lines and often they also draw OC content (since doujinshi doesn't necessarily mean fan stuff, it's just self-published). Especially people in the dojin music industry are like this. ZUN, the creator of Touhou games, is also a doujin creator since he wants to keep Touhou a self-published title.
For most it just covers the prices of printing and attending the event, but that way you get to meet your fans and get lot of fan offerings like pic related. At some point some dojin artists can make it pro by getting a contract from some manga magazine, so drawing doujinshi is also a way to spread your name as an artist.
Great. That doesn't look like 99% of the anime I've seen. It looks like Megaman though, which ironically isn't even an anime.
>is it done at a loss out of passion?
Out of passion. It's a way to meetup with your followers and artists friends within your fandom, give out chocolates, exchange art and go out for dinner after the con
It's done out of passion and as a hobby but you can make a bit of cash out of it if you get well known and it's also a well known way for people to get into the industry because Japan actually has a comics industry which puts out so many goddamn comics that it always needs new talent coming in.
Comiket is more like a large scale con focused on original works though
This. When a publisher puts out say, ten anthology books a week, they need about a hundred artists with say, at least a hundred assistants working full time. Add in the fact that some comics will only run every other week, or once a month or so on and the number of artists needed to fill space increases.
Forgot pic.
This is all "sashi-ire", offerings from the followers of the artist. Usually it's something edible that is easy to carry home, and also fan art and letter to express gratitude.
>tfw I want to make doujins but I only know little Japanese and my art is subpar
I'm young so I'll get there soon...someday.
We eat whole bowls of them without any milk.
Holy fuck that's one wrinkly ass brown elephant dick of a finger.
Japs have the best taste in beefy bottoms if all their Shiro art is any indication.
Holy shit I want these
It is free advertising. Do you not know how the artist alley/doujin market works?
Also, anyone who is apart of these markets are mega fans selling to other big fans. If you squash them, you get your most dedicated fans to hate you and your company gets the reputation of bullying fans. It's not a good idea.
cause they are greedy sacks of shit
ill cash app your ASS
What are the tags. I need to know what I'm missing.
>getting people disinvited or banned from cons in advance, mass reporting Patreon accounts
Neat, didn't know that was a thing
fuck off
I think the other posters are confused because you didn't clarify as "porn doujin" or "hentai doujin". There are regular fanart ones.
But yeah, not your fault at all.
generic anime look is more like pic. althugh madoka magica has more interesting stylistic stuff within the episodes, so you could argue it's a creative choice
thanks for the rec
Twitter link?
WHY THE FUCK IS THERE NO CONBVENTION LIKE TOONMIX HERE IN NORTH AMERICA??
Wow even when it comes to western shows japs have shit taste
Panty and stocking season 2 never
Spec ops asuka season 2 never
Even American "companies" or "pros" can't even make these goods lol American consumers only have to buy chink knock off tier garbage like Funko pop. Which is soulless trash.
So quality they can easily beat any cartoon merch in the west.
>here's your west Star vs merchandise that you waited for so long user, hope you rike it!
Upload the Garnet x Steven doujin
you mean
an anime convention?
...they called him flinty chan.
They get what they deserve
Mandatory art classes in all schools nationwide at a younger age. Those classes focus on draftsmanship and fundamentals over self expression, and emancapatory politics the way American art classes are more likely to.
Higher cultural priority on precision and copying, as opposed to self expression and originality.
Higher population density and the junior and high school club system means peer groups to support aspiring artists. There may be great artists in bumfuck idaho who we'll never see except for online, where they could be anyone.
More support for pro-am commercial work in Japan, so you get more people selling shit and being visible that way. The artist alley people in america can't do merch and can't advertise without getting a faceload from the big D.
I figure he's meming about all the Kate Leth/lumberjanes/moonstruck kind of "we have no dramatic tension that isn't solved the next page" shit.
>Higher cultural priority on precision and copying, as opposed to self expression and originality.
it's this. a surprising amount of japanese can draw their fave manga characters well then completely fail at drawing anything else
eh close enough.
Yes.
Yes. You should learn enough japanese to identify the "adult only" signs.
My point is that She-Ra is about as "generic anime" as western cartoon art styles get. The idea that they like it for being different visually is fucking ridiculous.
I've never seen it. Floppies and GNs don't get seen much.
So fucking what? Make that shit. Get it out there. Learn from your mistakes and do better the next year.
Who's the artist?
>ywn get to see scans of these ;-;
@b_6
If you're going to troll, you can at least try to sound like a real person.
Of course there is. They're entirely different things.
See
>no generic anime style?
See Those characters are by Ume Aoki. She has a clearly recognizable style.
Has there been any incidents of poisoned or tainted food give by fans (besides the needle one mentioned above)?
Seems likely at least one crazy fan would poison the food or mix in their skin flakes.
how? looks like every other anime woman to me. the costume design is good though.
to be fair, it has chicks who are fat, tall, or muscular. a lot of magical girl anime doesn't have that
Genuinely asking: do Japan complains about sameface the same way Yea Forums bitch about CalArt all day?
But all Japanese slice of life shows/manga are exactly like that.
Exactly this. Whether it's Madoka or Sailor Moon or Precure, every single character has the same body type, sameface and they don't even have the excuse of reusing the molds for toys like Filmation cartoons in the 80s.
Her most recognizable trait is that she draws very "wide" faces.
japan usually considers eye variation more important than different faces. it's stylistic for them, in the same way that they give ordinary japanese people weird hair colours.
but the guy who made one piece kept giving all the women the same bodytype while all the men got different ones(if you've watched one piece, the men get very strange ones) and apparently a lot of his female fans didn't like it.
They don't have the same body types and faces, and Sailor Moon, Precure and Madoka all look different from each other.
In fact even different Precure seasons look different from each other.
You don't need to give characters different body or face types since eyes are the mirror of the soul and that matters the most when you give your character a "type". Think about South Park characters, they all have the same egg design (except Cartman of course), but when you know what kind of personality they have you can easily get something like this out of them.
>this is considered "different"
wew lad
That is false, you're just talking about what's popular because it is cheap
Star Vs fans deserve only getting this
They are different, you're just unable to tell.
whats this fucking casual
go back to r*ddit seriously
Anime is Reddit
They look like the same show
you are too casual to come here. go back and talk about some calarts trash there thats literally looks the same
Yea Forums predates reddit.
Then you have a neurological problem or something. They look clearly distinct.
Casual is watching the same exact show with the same exact art style all being like Naruto because you can "own the Yanks"
Thank you for ruining this pretty neat thread. Before you do any further leave this board and return to Reddit to upvote le epic Avatar posts
why is everyone talking about Yea Forums shit
post moar albino panchito
imagine theres actually no SJWs and Tumblrinas
Comfy
Thank god they don’t, Pearl/Lapis is boring as shit. Jasper is hot as fuck
You’re only seeing the really good looking stuff because it’s objectively what people will like the most. There’s plenty of doujins out there with meh art, you gotta start somewhere. I’m actually doing one of my own just for myself, it’s pretty fun.
>they're fed up with the generic anime look
She-ra is literally attempting to look like anime. It's probably one of the most anime looking western cartoons out there.
At least take pictures
They do like them a lot. Do you not see how much they're featured in the works being posted?
Their loss
Humanity was a mistake
Yeah. You pretty much have the right to do that stuff, but companies will send a C&D knowing that even if they are in the wrong the other party is likely a starving artist who wouldn't be able to win a long expensive legal battle. That's the big issue with fair use.
don;t be mean I just don't wanna at destroy them
^this isn't me btw
here some older books i got
Undyne/Alphys still gets yuri doujins?
Any interesting shota stuff?
there's a bunch of max/goof stuff and some miguel/marco and kubo/hiro dojins. also Trap marco comics if that's considered shota
wait, there's SU doujinshi? Fucking where?!
>how deep is your remember
still makes me chuckle every time
There are links to all of grams SU doujins right here
Companies are more or less legally forced to send a C&D notice as not actively protecting your trademarks in all possible instances makes you legally vulnerable in actual trademark disputes.
If a fanwork doesn't use a trademark then it doesn't apply, and I bet it's more complicated than just "someone uses your trademark = no choice but to lawyer up, no matter what."
What makes fancomics legally actionable compared to all the other fanart or fanfic out there? And for the record I do know of cases where people like Anne Rice got on fans' asses for making fanfic.
Also I just realized that trademark law doesn't even apply if no trademark has been registered, and not everything is registered.
Did muh waifu get any attention?
Thank you, mate. We need better boys, those are horrible pairings.
>He doesnt know
Japan uses patreon too and other similar shit like digiket/pixiv/booth
Stop talking shit about you dont know. Your hate for americans is making you dumb
>a shame that the west or america doenst even have an event like this. very boring
comic con
i see alot of these kind of similar stuff in conventions/AAs
We have an entire series of perfect boys
Nice
Eh. I appreciate what Matt and Trey have done to normalize us, but god, I hate that show. Ugly art and uglier jokes. We need a boy adventure series with five or six different types so they can be paired off, and no more ugly art.
These are all good artists. They draw good erotic scenes. I think the Craig x Tweek artist's other work is on the internet.
the jap fanarts are great though
>that Garnet/Pearl cover
>that SuperDeepThroat pose
>muscle girl
>tsundere
They like her because she's the best girl
accept the consolation prize timeline
What said
Jasper, Lapis, and Pearl are probably the top three fan favorite characters in the east if we're going by their amount of fanart
I don't think so in this year...
But I wish.
Search on youtube:
Vic Mignona Hero Hei
Those souless jap eyes
white roastie seething. white landwales like you are everywhere on Yea Forums these days. dunno what the fuck is going on.
squishy cup butts
Funny, I thought they'd like Peridot more.
Wait Cuphead has Underfell shit too?
Why does Nippon REFUSE to acknowledge the existence of ATLA and Korra?
something something firenation is china something something
That's the gist of it, I think.
It was because the Fire Nation was JAPAN.
This is a convention for people who specifically like animation that is not anime
Why would they have things for the show that's pretty much a western anime
It still isn't anime and is basically a cartoon.
westernised Asian stuff just looks fake.
Mainland Chinks also find the show fake. Mutt chinks can't understand it.
maybe that's supposed to be devil cuphead from the bad ending
did japans like voltron? that's the litmus test.
Yeah because it has hot guys and they already have a past with the franchise
There's Voltron fujo bait in this very thread. What do you think?
Yes it is a cartoon, but it's not at this convention because it's similar to anime when they are looking for more western animation like Disney stuff here
It's like if there was an American game show convention there and they didn't want Wipeout-type stuff similar to what they already have
No one "likes" Voltron, they just like the gay fujo shipping
So no, they don't like it
But the art in the show is cute
1. As much as some of us here may like those shows, they were created on the premise of making a western anime. They don't do any particular thing that anime doesn't already do better.
2. They didn't air in Japan at the time of their debut because Nickelodeon had already thrown in the towel in the Japanese market by then. There is no Nick Japan, but there is Disney Japan and CN Japan. Ask the Japanese what Nick shows they know, and they'd tell you Hey Arnold, Ren and Stimpy, Invader Zim, and Spongebob.
There was supposed to be a dub for it but it went under. There are Japanese Avatar fans but they're not many in number because of that lack of dub.
Weird reaction
Those eyes DO look weird, probably because of the contacts
Yeah. They're more familiar with it because of Golion and it has a decent dub to pull more of them in. Won't lie, it does look like a lot of them watch it for Shiro, whether it's because of nippon banzai reasons or sexy reasons.
Eh, Miwa Shirow seemed to like it.
Shut up Muto! You brought this among yourself
We can go wider....
The Youtube video was from 2014
What's going on with that Bojack Horseman poster?
>search toonmix on e-h
>6 legitimate results
Well, it's something.
Yes Im aware, doesnt change what I said though, literally see the link I posted
Did Danny Phantom get some fans or is it popular in Japan. I honestly think it should have gotten at least a jap dub.
Pretty sure it's on Amazon prime japan
as far I remember Nick Japan was about to close down when Danny Phantom was being broadcast in the US, one the last dub they did was the season 1 of Avatar as far I remember, it was lost media until they finally release it on Amazon Prime Japan along Invader Zim and others
post your art faggot
This was a fun thread
Doujinshi doesn't always mean porn tho
Pls explain this
Apparently but also most of it is gay porn of Shiro including some of the shit posted right here
