All DCSHG are just changed into the typical archetypes you'd expect in these kind of shows, excitable, aggressive, shy, egotistical, etc. I think the show itself it's fine but everyone is quite different to how they are in comics or other media.

DC also forgets to give them personality(though this could be said about a lot of characters).

When Bumblebee and Steel were in the Titans comic, they were just there and had no personality to speak of.

Ironheart isn't very popular, but she does have a personality.

Why don't they give Bumblebee the power to grow as well as shrink? That'd make her more interesting.

That would be cool but it would make her too much like Ant-man or Wasp and she’s already similar to them.

Can we start brainstorming a new costume for her? Pic related is a great start, but I think we can do better. Reason BEE-ing is that it will help her differentiate from The Wasp.

First and foremost I think a great design element in her costume would BEE big Mega Man style boots and gauntlets. Bumblebees have are bigger than their other bee cousins, and I think that would help reflect that.
Because Wasp can do that already.

She's part of the Titans franchise, which Didio hates.

She already is interesting, that's the reason why DC uses her for a lot of cartoon appearances.

The Titans franchise is bad and needs a complete retool, but Didio has a beef with legacy characters and young characters in general because they 'age' the older ones.

Its not a coincidence that most of the characters getting turned by the BWL are either from the Titans or younger characters in general.

You got no fucking clue, you have to reintroduce his daughter to the comics and even then that doesn't mean the people buying comics are gonna care. The people who would buy Black Lightning are already buying Batman and the outsiders, no one is holding out for thunder and lightning.

The Titans have the potential for sustainable stories, writers are just not interested or too afraid to try something new with these characters.

She's too much of an OC Donut Steel and Harley already fills that position. I know I know she's based on Jericho's girlfriend from 70s Teen Titans but that's pretty fucking obscure anyways. Just cause Greg Weisman added her to the second season of Young Justice does not an iconic hero make.

Steel has a personality, shes a quirky & nerdy lesbian. She was actually pretty good in Abnetts Teen Titans but I agree with your overall point. DCs black characters are usually personality less except for a special few and they all tend to get the short end of the stick when it comes to integrating them with the rest of the DC Universe lately

Steel was just there during Abnett's run, she did nothing interesting and I didn't see any signs of a personality. Then again, considering how Abnett handled the other characters during that run that might have been for the best.

Because as a black character, she doesn't act as though she's from the hood, which means her marketability is lower than Ghettoman, the crack-dealer by night, vigilante by day.

And secondly she's been in 5 cartoons and has been in enough comics that suggest that DC is by no means ignoring her.

DC hates the Titans in general, her being in Abnett Titans already married with a kid was a death knell for her. The people in charge only like younger characters if they're actually young teens.

Honestly, I’d like to see her as the main tech person in the JL lineup like Cyborg was in the New 52. She’d probably have a more interesting dynamic with the league than Vic did.
