I dunno about you but I can, in Vol 1 threads you had people collectively agreeing when it was time to end or making something funny out of what's happening when they didn't like a character (Rorschach, Astro Boy).
Volume 2 had too many anons trying to push characters way too hard (Generation O, Nomura) or just outright undoing the plot set up by other anons because they didn't like it, not saying it didn't happen before but it just got way out of hand on Vol.2

I think that the twist in issue 9 with Nomura realizing he doesn't want to be the villain is what saved his character. Everyone kept mercilessly trying to make him into the next Fred while taking every opportunity to try to bring Fred back so Nomura never really got a chance to do much.
He's just a sad, desperate man who wanted to see his son in a good game.
