All of them now.

I miss something good?

Plenty. It's not really for the kid (nor it is for them up until you have to pick Middle School), but for the parents to check if they trust the teachers/administration, and if the way they do things fits with their own parenting methods.

They all do. It's a way to get them used to the idea of not spending the day with mommy and daddy anymore and for the parents to get to know the teacher better.

In a perfect world Pre-K would be mandatory for children aged 3+ and you could skip the Kinder orientation entirely.

>Thinking the kid has any choice in the matter.

Personally I think a child should experience less public schooling than they currently do, not more.

Who's going to be traumatized because they didn't practice kindergarten before the first day?

It's too late for that. Too many in the system, it's like herding cattle now.

I mean, to what end? More public schooling means more chances at socializationat best and more time for parents to do other things at worst. At that age, that's about the extent of the use for preschools and suchlike: not to actually teach the children anything in particular, but to get them to develop the social skills necessary to function later on, and for less wealthy parents to park their children somewhere.

These kids have spent all of their time with their parents for 5 years and then suddenly they can't. That's tough for a small child, especially in the first weeks of school. Sure they get over it, but having them come in before the first day of school definitely helps them ease in.

>more chances at socialization
Public schools are terrible at socialization, and John Dewey was a communist faggot.

No one, but, again, it's more for the parents than the kid.
Maybe the nearest option avaible has a rival of yours in the teaching body. Maybe they are a bit too loose with the rules than you'd like. Maybe their fees and hours are simply not matching.
Getting the kid in there is just a bonus.

They're not going to be traumatized but many of them would be very upset for several days. Which is annoying for the parents and teachers. Since we're not blind stupid animals, when something is annoying we try to come up with new ways to do things that aren't annoying. I hope you learned something today.

>Children must be coddled constantly and protected from even the mildest of adversity and discomfort

Look as someone that works for a county school district we have way more problems than just offering orientation for Kindergarten.

Sure, drop a newborn into a river so it can learn to swim while you're at it to.

user, I too wanted to literally never want to school ever, and I'm definitely antisocial by nature.
But you have to understand that:
1) It's convenient for the parents to finally committ back to their jobs, or even their hobbies, after spending two years necessarily tendin to the kid 24/7 (again, unless you're wealthy, in which case you don't usually give a fuck to begin with).
2) Even if the parents are arranged to take care of the kid often, what's the exact plan to teach them how to behave with others, especially if they aren't very outgoing to begin with?

Yes, and?

I just think maybe there are better ways to socialize kids in which maybe they could learn actual life skills and make better use of their productive time in a day than the way the american public school system is structured right now. It’s designed in a way that maximizes overall efficiency and it often comes at the cost of the development of the individual kid.

Why wouldn't you shield your child from adversity if you could and it had no long term effects?

Are you honestly telling me that attending orientation is going to make them too soft?

Clearly you are not capable of understanding my very simple post.

I think we're talking about two different issues here: I was mostly saying that Preschool is a good idea, you were talking about how compulsory school is a bit fucked.

Ended being upset my whole 3 years in Kindergarden, I was so much of an annoying shit my teachers would call my mother and ask her to take me back home.

Dude, they literally start grooming you to be a corporate drone at conception now.
>listen to Mozart, it'll make your baby smarter
>start teaching your kids before school, so they'll be ready
>formative years are important, make sure you pick a good preschool and kindergarten
>get your kids in extracurriculars in grade school, so they can be scholarship good in time for high school
>high school, time for college prep, take all the hardest classes and extracurriculars while studying for standardized tests and going through puberty
>oh cool you made it to college, don't give up now you might want to go to grad school or get your doctorate

>>listen to Mozart, it'll make your baby smarter
>>start teaching your kids before school, so they'll be ready
I don't see how these two are important to your argument.

Any major overhaul to the American schooling system would require a standardization on the national scale that would be denounced by a major population as "socialism".

That's… not even related to becoming a corporate drone. That's related to the obsession of being the best around.

But then you just have pre-K orientation?

I pity the poor toys that remained with autistic retard Bonnie. At least Woody realized what was up and got the fuck out of there.

>"socialism"
I hate this place so much.

Inconvenient truth, unfortunately.

Wonder what do you do?

>..What kind of pussy...
A smooth, tight, 6yo one I assume.
