It was okay. But, I don't understand the point of it. It really seems like it was a mish-mash of too many different ideas, like several different scripts mashed together. But at the same time, I feel like nothing really happened. The first 3 movies felt like actual adventures; this one basically had no stakes and it felt like not enough was happening.
I don't want to sound like a pleb, but for most of the movie I actually was kind of bored. I CANNOT imagine little kids staying engaged, it wasn't funny/adventurous/action enough I feel.
And the ending...I don't know Did they really have to make this movie to undo the great ending of Toy Story 3? Why couldn't it end with Andy passing the torch beautifully, and Woody choosing to stay with his actual toy friends? What does he actually intend on doing anyways with Bo? Give therapy sessions and help toys go to owners? Why does he need to do this
Overall, definitely the worst of the 4. It was perfectly serviceable, but I wish it wasn't made to undo the ending of Toy Story 3.
>straight male and straight female >romance fuck off, alt-right pissbaby. your kind have been pandered to enough.
Zachary Green
Well, considering the first three had 4 writers on the story at most, this one has a whopping 8 writers involved. When you have that many working on a story, it's bound to get out of hand at points.
Landon Mitchell
Honestly, the worst thing about the movie is they sidelined ALL of Andy's toys (even Buzz). I liked the new toys, like Duke and Gabby and Forky, however Toy Story 3 was masterful in that it introduced lots of new characters like Lotso, Ken, Barbie, and Bonnie's toys, while still giving all of the "main" Andy toys their own little moments (especially Buzz and Jessie, Mr and Mrs. Potato Head, Slinky, even the fucking aliens)
Joseph Ward
I mean, the original VAs for Mr. Potatohead and Slinky died, and the VA for Mr.s Potatohead is probably at death's door. so it makes sense that those three didn't get much attention. Outside of the obvious exception of Jesse, most of the lines for Andy's crew went to Rex and Hamm.
Jaxson Baker
Slinky's voice actor was dead for 3, they replaced him in 3. It's only Mr. Potato Head who died. And honestly, none of the characters had any memorable moments, literally the closest is Jessie being the new sheriff. That's it.
I miss Toy Story 2 and 3.
Christian Roberts
Feel like I remember Slinky having a pretty reduced role in the 3rd movie too.
But you're right, this one didn't give much focus to the older members of the crew
Evan Adams
What in the fuck made you think it was a good idea to give money to see the fourth instalment of a movie franchise? Why are people paying to see these obviously shitty movies time after time like it's fucking groundhog day?
Woody's story is a retread of his arc in TS2, only this time he makes the complete opposite decision that he made in that movie, which flies in the face of what Andy told Bonnie about Woody before handing him off to her ("he will never give up on you, no matter what") and splitting him off from the rest of the toys that he's been with throughout the entire series was goddamn infuriating to me, not tearjerking.
Buzz also being written as an idiot who cannot grasp the idea of a conscience and has to push his own buttons for ideas is a retcon of how he used his brain to devise the plans to rescue Woody in TS2 and TS3. Who is this fucking moron, and what has he done to Buzz Lightyear?
I have so many other complaints, but those are the two big ones that I can be bothered to share. I don't think there's anything wrong with you if your emotional reaction to this movie was the one they were going for or if you like this movie in general, and I hope that everyone else who feels disappointed doesn't act like a gatekeeping asshole about it towards those who did like it, but I really cannot help but be bothered by how inconsistent the characters behave in this movie.
Colton White
Checked. You summed up everything quite nicely, Buzz and Woody were completely flanderized and the result of their characters in this movie is likely because of Lasseter's leave from the studio.
Luke Reed
No movie should really have this many installments. I remember watching Ice Age 4 and it being just a massive cliche of writing.
David White
Weak minded people. They get lured in by nostalgia, the familiar, the "safe".
Benjamin Moore
You obviously didn't watch the movie because they had romance between Woody and Bo. Go back to Yea Forums faggot.
Jonathan Adams
Was "Yes you Can-ada" actually in the film?
Evan Barnes
yes but it was fine in the movie
Jonathan Anderson
It was not good. I hated how they made it seem like Forky is important to Bonnie, but she happily forgot about him midway into the film. Woody sacrificed his voice box for no reason and I just hated Bonnie not giving a damn about Woody.
I also hated how the toys behaved like "whores" trying to get ANY kid and ridiculed Woody's loyalty to his kid. Ad no doubt Woody adopts Bo's new philosophy of "There's always other kids." As stated they feel like cheap whores satisfied with any play time from any kid and not their owner.
Didn't like how Buzz was stupid. This Buzz has lived enough years to NOT be naive. So why is Buzz following advice from his pre-recorded dialogue? Talk about mental regression from his Toy Story 2 characterization. And the other toys just doing nothing like Potato Head and Slinky? That just hurt.
This movie was trash. The final shot with the moonlight as Woody sees his friends move away? That didn't make me feel sad because it was touching, it was sad because it was bad and blatant forced melodrama that was not even needed. And they chose this ending JUST to do more obvious sequels. You can tell.
Also fuck the political correction like Bo referring to Woody as her sidekick and how all the security guards at the festival were women. Seriously? Also what was up with the anti-male repeat joke with the unicorn toy who was obsessed with getting Bonnie's father arrested to the point he was HAPPY the cops stopped his RV? Seriously the Anti-Male bullshit was obvious. Then again Pixar may be filled with SJWs now because the white girl, Harmony, rejected Gabby and the black girl accepted Gabby. And another thing Gabby was not likable, she was emotionally manipulative like learning Woody's life history just to "convince" him to surrender his voice box. She was a cunt.
Honestly fuck Toy Story 4 and I'm glad I pirated it. Fuck giving Pixar money. Also FUCK people who will give this garbage the award for Best Animated Film this year.
Nathan Lee
Also spits in the face of TS2's ending, where Woody and Buzz agree to stick together, to infinity and beyond, even when Andy does outgrow them. Sounds like he would just rather give up than stick it out. Bonnie probably would have picked him up again; as a kid, I would rotate through my favorites constantly. And sometimes I did end up making the decision to let them go.
Jaxon Ward
>The first 3 movies felt like actual adventures
Only the first two felt like adventures. Toy Story 3 felt like filler for the majority of its run time because only the beginning and ending mattered.
Ryan Lewis
>but she happily forgot about him midway into the film what? no she didn't.
Nicholas Foster
and even if he's not Bonnie's favorite anymore, Woody should still always be loyal to his gang of toys first, not to the kid. That was his ultimate character arc in the trilogy and the ending of the third movie! (Him choosing to leave Andy to stay with the toys)
To be fair now Bonnie is the one who gave up on Woody.....but what are we doing discussing this? This movie is bad because it was blatantly unnecessary. TS3 wasn't perfect but it was an acceptable send off closing the story.
What we got here is just corporate greed in the form of high end CGI. That's it. And I don't look forward to seeing this movie represented in stuff like Kingdom Hearts.
Mason Ortiz
Andy saying "he will never give up on you" is supposed to reflect Woody's unending loyalty to the toys. It's why the ending of 3 is Woody choosing to leave Andy to be with the toys. But this movie did away with that.
Ian Ward
The scene when the RV was about to leave and Bonnie's parents asked her if she's ready to go and to make sure she has NOT forgotten any single thing. Bonnie happily says that she has NOT forgotten anything and that includes Forky who apparently is not worth obsessing about. I mean I get it that Forky is just some utensil, he's not a toy, but the movie put so much important on this plot device of a character that it infuriated me to see this girl just say she's not forgetting a thing. It's just a bad movie my friend, it's just a bad movie.
Jonathan Taylor
By that point in the movie she had Forky, though.
Aaron Ortiz
Also remember how woody would go above and beyond to make sure even forgotten toys got to stay with the gang.
She literally did. That was when Forky had been returned to the RV while Woody, Bo Peep and the others went back for Gabby.
Lucas Brown
they rescue him in the very opening of 4, but then it leads to Bo Peep being given away.
Daniel Peterson
He did go above and beyond to keep the gang together up until the end.
Joseph Price
Wrong, Buzz says "hopefully Bonnie remembers that she left her backup in the store so she will go back for it", because Woody and Forky still hadn't returned yet.
Blake Scott
why?
Easton Lee
Not that user, but Forky was inside the TV by then. Remember? He's the one who tells Buzz that Bonnie's dad should park next to the carousel.
David Parker
*RV
Logan Anderson
hmm, I don't know. The only reason I'm unsure is because I remember thinking the same thing as the original user, that it was weird to show that Bonnie hadn't even noticed Forky was gone, and it weakened his supposed "importance" while watching the movie. But perhaps we both were mistaken.
Adam Ortiz
No, he's right. I misremembered.
Zachary Allen
It's not the end, though. They still have a long journey to go. And Woody's not going to be there for them the next time. He's CHOOSING not to be there for them
This movie was definitely not made for kids new to this series. It was made for people who grew up watching the series up to this point. Kids would probably be bored out of their minds watching this shit.
And the Key and Peele murder scenes make me think it was just not made with kids in mind at all.
Christopher Walker
>And the Key and Peele murder scenes make me think it was just not made with kids in mind at all. the plush rush long gag was hilarious, desu
Alexander Barnes
We currently live in the era of series never ever ending. Tv shows just linger on and on for 20-30 years while movies just keep getting sequels while 80s movies get remake after remake.
Christopher Sanders
Anyone else think the movie felt too small, and "boring" (for lack of a better word)
film also lacked spectacle. This first movie had Woody and Buzz work their way out of Sid's house and chase the freaking truck. That was amazing. The second one had them in an airport then an airplane. Super insane situation for them. Then the 3rd gave us the tear-jerking incinerator scene. The fourth one looked promising because of the carnival but they didn't actually do anything with it. We don't see them do something we've never seen them do before. It felt small for a film of this magnitude.
Owen Howard
Cause there are no stakes.
Caleb Cook
Bo isn’t straight
Nathaniel Garcia
she is pure
Ethan Howard
>tfw the Prospector and Bear were right all along >tfw Toy Story fell victim to the cashgrab sequel plague like the rest of Pixar's movies at least 2 and 3 were good
Is that true? Goddamn that pisses me off. yea.... like what? doesn't the movie literally end with Woody choosing a hoe over his bro? so..... what?
Michael Turner
Toy Story 3 was trash. You should have seen this coming.
Kayden Miller
No it wasn’t fuck off
Daniel Rivera
TS3 was mostly irrelevant filler. Only the beginning and ending mattered as far as the subplot of Andy growing up and moving on with his life while the toys accept it. I can't rewatch it because I don't find the daycare plot interesting or important.
Isaac Williams
Basically, TS4 is very parallel to characters' fate in Avengers Endgame
Woody - Steve Rogers Bo Beep - Peggy Carter Buzz - Bucky Barnes Jessie - Sam Wilson
David Garcia
Was Pixar making a stament by having that white Harmony girl reject Gabby and Gaby is later accepted by the Black Girl? Also Harmony is weird she rejects a girl doll, but showed interest by playing with Woody even though Woody is for boys and not girls.
Andrew Lewis
This is true. TS3 was miles better than TS4, but the two movies are the same in that they're very mediocre and hide behind their emotional endings.
Michael Morris
Wake up samurai
Samuel Walker
Harmony is a lesbian
Wyatt Ross
>Was Pixar making a stament by having that white Harmony girl reject Gabby
Gabby was creepy intentionally only homing in and stalking this little girl as her only possibility for a kid. Also the girl was obviously a bit tomboyish given the girly doll wasn't her cup of tea while she temporarily chose Woody.
Jacob Butler
This. TS3 is kinda overrated if you take out the ending. TS4 is a more character driven and has a higher rewatch value like TS2.
Colton Davis
Wouldn't surprise me thanks to the people working at MODERN Pixar.
Matthew Harris

Why are you overanalyzing the skin colors of cartoon characters? Literally tumblr >but showed interest by playing with Woody even though Woody is for boys and not girls Have you ever interacted with real children? They play with whatever.
