Now it's starting to feel a bit forced, and I was the strongest advocate for the show even in the face of all the "le black protagonist" posters. It's not enough to ruin my enjoyment of the show, and it works within the frame of the story, but given the current cultural context it makes me wonder how sincere the writers' intentions are. His design is super cool though.

Never said he should've been white, just that him being black felt slightly forced. He could've been a rich asian kid, a stereotype which already exists and asians are a naturally evil race duh, indigenous who are underrepresented everywhere, latino, pic related made me think he might be pacific islander since it reminded me of some previous cartoon depictions of them and the fur looked like flowers at a glance with all the flower iconography surrounding him. We know he won't end up being evil and will be redeemed anyway, but like I said, it's not a big deal, just something that seems off given the time we live in, the show will probably age better this way. If anything the royal guard should've been something else at least.

Brothers or cousins makes sense, but I think it'd be more impactful if they used to be best friends. Fits with the "that's not how friendship works" message of the sode, as well as the overall power of friendships motif that is the emotional core of the show. Could also explain why Green Poncho became Green Poncho since it seems that he had no friends in the Creek whose playtime he's protecting til he met the gang. Green Poncho's origin being his best friend becoming the evil King, even though it meant the end of his friendship with GP would be solid. Also the King's champion with the wiffle ball bat could be his half sister or something for extra resonance, Maybe it gets real like when we talk about Kelsey's mom and GPs parents are divorced, parent he lives with moved out of the King's domain to Craig's side of the creek, parent still living in the Mill town had a 2nd kid with their new partner. I dunno. Something in that vein would add a bit o the old emotion to the narrative. I hope the GP and the King just used to be best friends til the King moved to Mill town and got rich and turned into a dick- or that Mill town is actually a poorer urban area to the wealthier suburban area of Craig's town (do you think basketballs just grow on trees, do you know everything I do for these kids, all that stuff takes on a different light and makes the King sympathetic if he's tryna be noble and provide for the playtime of all the kids who can't afford shit, and allows for an eventual playtime isn't about money, look how much fun we can have with just our imaginations kinda conclusion) and GP moved to the suburbs, leading to the King thinking he has the good life now and resenting him, which would be a nice touch for explaining the fracturing of their friendship. Best guess though is they're half-brothers, rich dad lives in Mill town, only has GP one weekend a month kinda custody & GP lives with his mom in Craigtown mostly.

Kelsey is the best part of the show for me, hands down. She's basically a more awesome version of me at her age. Anyone else waiting for deeper dives into Kelsey's narration style eps?

My pitch would basically be: Craig and JP have to accompany her and Mortimer on a quest of real life emotional import, maybe she wants to visit her mom's grave on her birthday like she does with her dad every year but this year he's stuck at work or something, and the cemetery is only accessible from the creek if you go through this dangerous forbidden zone or something. Craig and JP and are a little freaked out by how far she's taking this game and her unwillingness to break character, but she only responds to them when they play along, if they break character she ignores it, and she won't turn back, forces Craig and JP to develop their characters for her fantasy world, allows for nigh constant Kelsey narration, turns everything encountered into fantasy versions/analogs, and works for a gradual build to srsness which still allows for comedy in the first segments of the episode.
