I expecting this to be an episode where Anne starts to learn that maybe her friends weren't really friendly. The episode will only be received poorly if Anne learns nothing from treating Polly badly.

I kind of dislike Anne after the almost getting Sprigs killed in the swimming episode and when she told Hop Hop that her situation was much worse while they were bonding. Anne only way to learn is either getting called out, realize it on her own, or beaten up.

I'm still not sure about that. Even if she was exploited in a way, there could be a genuine bond between the 3. Especially if they live in a typical "no fun allowed boarding school". It's always easy to "plot" things and throw "hey wouldn't that be fun if" in your friend circle, but having an Anne that makes it happen is still an asset.

I like Anne so far, we see that she's not a "good girl" to begin with, so she has flaws that don't just come from being enabled by the plot. She's balancing things up, but since the frogs aren't really a good role model to begin with it doesn't go overboard with moral changes and all.

Don't know if I'm sold on this show yet. I'm a few episodes in, and so far nothing about the characters, humor, art direction, or story really stand out. It's not BAD, just kind of bland to be honest.

I don't think that this is a reliable representation of the world (HP's map is also rather rudimentary). Also, '4' doesn't look like the place - it's too bright and orderly to be Grime's menacing old fortress. There's a tiny black tower in the yellow field to the east of the central mountain that looks more like it. You can see it clearer in the image below. Again, I wouldn't worry too much about those maps.

My guess is that the first season will have little of that and it's gonna take place for the couple of months that Anne is staying at Wartwood. We'll see some antagonists, maybe she'll find out Sasha is captured but not much more.
Next season would take place when she can finally venture outside the mountains and that's when shit will go down.

As far as isekai cartoons go, this one is so far quite enjoyable.

At least it isnt star vs where its all lore all the time taking out the likability and comedy from its cast and setting. This is the only show on at the moment that i actually enjoy watching and dont feel depressed or bitter after watching it.

Look man we get better lore in kids' cartoons than we do in "mature" shows and movies, so, yes we do expect something good. Comparitavely. No I won't just read a book, books are for losers.

It's not exactly an unpopular sentiment. There are plenty of shows that feature action of little consequence on the series as a whole. They have no definite beginning, ending or chronology - just disjointed shenanigans, like monster of the week stuff in Jonny Quest.
There are also hybrid shows like Penn Zero - it told a complete story but that was limited to special episodes and little nuggets of lore sprinkled throughout. You could call most of the episodes 'filler'.
Some viewers enjoy this amount of continuity just fine. Some even say that lore suffocates simple and fun premises and that there are too few new non-lore series.

episode 10 a/b is probably sasha's escaping and finding her own allies
also starting episode 13 Anne and the frogs seems to leave the village which probably mean callbacks to the others get more frequent, to draw some parallels before the meetup at the end.

This, his freak out over the teen island show was hilarious. Not to mention most of the episodes seem to be about him in some way. It almost feels like the main character should be him.

they were all shit people, Anne befriending people by being a carpet but also the action of their bad words. Sasha is probably all mouth and no action, which is why she genuinely like Anne, she needs her underling, they need to be together to succeed in their projects. Not sure about the third one, but she could be the moral support that shower the whole group when they do that shit.

I guess I've just been burned before by stuff like Star vs. and Adventure Time, and I'm reluctant to give Amphibia a fair shot because it reminds me of them in some ways. The simplistic art style, the surreal environments, the fact that it's yet another ten-minute cartoon that can't decide whether or not it wants to be story-driven, stuff like that. It's entirely my own personal pet peeves, and nothing more.

Fair enough. I think Adventure Time only became lore-driven gradually and that in and of itself didn't make the show worse. Star Vs. is more apt, starting off as a "wacky episodic SOL story with lore elements." I would at least argue the first 4 episodes of Amphibia are stronger than Star's in humor and characters and has more of the main cast established + hints of lore (granted it's mostly the first episode) so I feel that it's more promising. And even if it does end up disappointing I'm still enjoying the ride and it's far more entertaining to go through wacky frog world than watch wacky alien princess doing things wrong. Also funnily enough, episode 4b of both shows have to do with characters finding a charger.

tl;dr I think it's funnier, has better characters, and more deliberate exposition than the shows you compared it to but I won't fault you for dropping it.
