ITT: Moments where a series turns to shit
ITT: Moments where a series turns to shit
A lot of MML fans would agree in this.
That would be way before pic related
You have to give him credit, he really is taking it well compared to what you'd expect from most guys.
Slott's Spider-Man goes to shit the second Superior ends.
it's almost like fictional characters are subjected to what the writers want
*season 2
Bryke are never going to live down what a complete failure Korra was as a series.
Remember that the series was so totally shitty that Nick punted Season 4 onto their website, because they knew that if they actually aired it on their channel it would have shit-tier ratings.
>alfie agreeing to stay exclusive to Ozge
Korra wasn't a failure despite what angry incels on Yea Forums will tell you.
Or Mako is written as more mature and able to hide his emotions better which is pretty consistent with his character.
Season 2 is the real offender here.
>inb4 “first episode”
Sure, but you have to admit that everything that people hate came from Season 2. The retcons, the past lives thing, even Korrasami- if they hadn’t butchered the already lukewarm Makorra romantic subplot, no one would’ve jumped onto a crack ship and we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Which is just bad writing
What the fuck were they thinking.
I somewhat agree but people where jumping ship back in season 1. Season 2 just killed makorra
>create a God-tier villain
>kill him off in the beginning of your third season
>spend the entire rest of the show failing to live up to him
Ironically the Avatar Wan episodes, despite being the only decent episodes from that season, are the actual point of no return for the quality of Avatar's storytelling. They completely kneecapped the mythology potential of the show.
Remember the first episode leaks? What a promising start to a terrible war. After episode 3 comfy Korea threads died.
>Not season 1
Yea ForumsPE
Season 3 was pretty good though.
No man's dialogue has that many ellipses without him repressing some pretty strong emotions.
He's coping
The Cluster arc
Don't worry, her overpowering sluttiness will ruin everything, just have faith
>but you have to admit that everything that people hate came from Season 2
Nah they fucked it up already
Turf Wars was so pointless. You can tell that it was made in order to make Korrasami seem less out of left field.
Anyone who says that it was foreshadowed from the very beginning is flat out lying.
>being completely spineless
>taking it well
The proper human reaction is to be uncomfortable about something like this. Bending over backwards to hide discomfort is no more healthy than screaming your head off about it, it's just the matter of whether those negative emotions are expressed outwardly or turned inward.
Did
Nothing
Wrong.
honestly, he really didn't. Most of it was Korra
I gave up on this show after Korra cried to get her powers back.
He probably should have been more upfront with Asami about the kiss, and given a more sincere apology to his brother, but aside from that, I agree.
what happened here?
Yeah, how would things have changed if he pushed Korra back in the beginning and punched or slapped for her kissing him and breaking his bro's heart?
Would have been better desu. It could have worked as a way of reiterating "Hey Korra. Have you ever thought you might be a cunt?". Then again each season just relapsed her and portrayed her as being in the right 9 out of 10 times.
Oh my god again with the OMG HE MADE BOLIN SAD shit.
Would have unironically been much better written. Korra shouldn't have been rewarded by the narrative for forcing herself on Mako, especially after he outright told her he wasn't interested
He's obviously uncomfortable but he's not getting pissed and lashing out.
>had a girl already
>told bolin to not mess with korra
>korra jumps on him after leading his brother on
How would you act when two hot girls are slobbering all over your cock?
I honestly found him more annoying than Korra.
Breezy
>had a girl already
Who?
It's more that he spouted all this 'bros before hoes' and 'we have to put the team first' nonsense, only to hoe around, return Korra's kiss, and be at the center of a major shitstorm that nearly destroyed their chances of winning. Comes off as more than a little hypocritical
Couldn't tell you the slightest thing about her
That was after the kissing kora and making Bolin cry mess.
Bros before hoes is sacred
Asami. And Korra knew they were going out and decided to be a home wrecking cunt anyways. Which just makes it that much more unbelievable that her and Asami would ever be romantically interested in one another.
Vriskagram
Doesn't matter because Korra still tried to get in his pants after he got with Asami. Remember that Korra only stopped going after him because Asami's father worked for Amon and she needed emotional support. And that didn't last long as Korra went right back to trying to get her daily dose of vitamin M when they were in hiding.
no, that was the episode directly before
It was already bad in season 1.
Doesn’t really matter anyways since Bolin got ice twins and an earth slut while Mako got nothing so I don’t see why Bolinfans need to seethe about Korra.
Nope. Mako starts going out with Asami in episode 4. His kiss with Korra doesn't happen till episode 5.
They're just mad because Borra died halfway through season 1 and then Bolin became a joke character for most of the rest of the series before getting a badass power upgrade towards the end.
This, when I and others complained about it most pro Korrsami shippers started accusing most of being salty Makorra shippers or homophobic. It would've been funny had Asami rejected Korra.
"Sorry, I can't date someone who kissed my former boyfriend, and led another guy on."
It's not about Bolin getting pussy. Borra was cute!
CUTE!
They both become jokes desu. Mako was literally nothing until the cool robot part as well.
Comic relief x hot girl is even more cliche than bad boy x hot girl even though Mako wasn’t really a bad boy.
He was more of a non-character. Bolin was the Beast Boy of the series. He may have had the most love interests but he was a complete dunce about it. Most Bolinfags complain about his 180 from when he was shown to be a ladies man in the first season.
Or, maybe this has nothing to do with people liking or disliking Bolin, and more to do with the fact that kissing someone you know your sibling is interested in is a kinda mean thing to do
Grow up.
Don't you mean "going out with one brother and then forcing yourself on the other brother who was off the market" is a mean thing to do?
That would have been amazing and redeemed Asami
Yeah, Asami should have absolutely rejected Korra. What self respecting person would make themselves emotionally open with a someone who selfishly and thoughtlessly screwed them over like that.
This, there was a big quality of mysticism to the entire Avatar line and idea that the avatar line just keeps going back to the beginning of humankind with no real explanation on why or how other than it was in a spiritual nature to help balance the world. Then they went and explained it in-depth and whenever you try to explain mysticism it stops being mysticism.
I still can't get over the fact he was actually in the right.
Motherfucker I’m almost as liberal as you get and I still think Korra was shit.
Yeah. Korra is a massive hole and should have done the majority of the work to make it up to all three of her 'friends', but that doesn't make Mako completely blameless. The writing of the show really didn't do his character justice.
The problem is Mako is always blamed not that he’s blameless.
Because bryke writing characters to be unrepentant drama bombs is mature?
Lol
Exactly, the kicker would be her doing it with a smile while Korra rages like a brat as usual storming off. Then Meelo just spends the rest of the night roasting and laughing at Korra. Jinora is trying to get him to stop but is laughing as well.
Yo Frynon, what the fuck is this!?
Korra is a bitch, Asami is a cunt and Mako is a thot, can we please stop talking about the shit pile that was lok now?
It's like the writers wanted him to not only not have a spine, but have like, a negative spine. A spine that is the opposite of a spine, which isn't a spine at all. This is awful.
Especially since the flashbacks completely undermined the goal of the season, which was to unite the human world and spirit world. If the Avatar Wan episodes showed us anything it's that the spirits are vindictive assholes who would happily genocide humanity if humans were unable to defend themselves. Even the vegetarian peaceloving Airbenders were forced onto a lionturtle to survive.
This is way beyond fanfic levels of bad.
A lot of fans who read the comic were pissed off by this. They also hated this
There are like 5 or 6 legitimately excellent episodes that came after this that justify the rest of the seasons existing. Also without wings we don't eventually get Yona, so I can never truly hate them.
>Avatar
>the human and spirit world have a balance with each other mirrored and enforced by the Avatar who is an individual gifted by an unexplainable universal force with the power of all 4 bending styles
>LoK
>lol nope the spirits are assholes that hate humans and the avatar is just a reincarnated puppet of a light spirit who does this because he fucked up in the first place
Really wish there was a way to Mandela effect Korra seasons 2 through 4 out of existence.
Read Gladiator it sort of phases Korra out of existence.
>What self respecting person would make themselves emotionally open with a someone who selfishly and thoughtlessly screwed them over like that.
If twitter is an indicative. Many females.
>only season 2-4
Just get rid of the whole thing.
>the Avatar being a light spirit sock account
This was so disconnected from the avatar's purpose of maintaining harmony between the four nations and elements. What were they thinking?
It really is shocking bad that the writers did absolutely nothing to show that Wan was wrong to separate the two worlds and that every season after kept bringing up examples of how them being forced together brought trouble.
What's wrong with hating characters that get neglected to being retarded comic relief? Having Bo be comic relief like Sokka, someone that had a character under the jokes, is fantastic. Having a character that's just there for jokes is incredibly grating
This. Nobody's saying that he didn't have a part in the shit that followed but he already shot down Korra and she kept coming after him. He just gave in and that was what caused the rift with Asami and then he waffled back and forth between the two girls. Not like he was purposely trying to be a player, he was just overly passive and just went with it.
Because Bolin regressed as a character for most of the middle parts of the series. He only bounced back in the end of the third season and fourth season. Sokka had character development.
Bro Korra was shit long before the post-finale comics.
Cancerous.
Not even gay people like this horseshit.
That was awful but I also hated with a passion Korra getting pissy with her dad after telling him she was in lesbians with asumi, him taking it well, and then him warning her that it might be smart to keep the relationship a bit under wraps in the city, as if that wasn't great advice considering how often the homeboys of Avatars are kidnapped and shit
desu Korra or Asami should have rejected/never initiated that shit. It makes no sense for either of them to even think about it.
Yeah that was weird and shitty behavior but surprisingly consistent with how crap Korra is as a person.
I don't doubt it.
Here I'm posting the image now.
From zero to shitty in one page.
I don't like this trend of modern progressive writers of trying to make every bad guy evil in every possible way. Like Sozin is already a megalomaniac who left his best friend to die but now he gets to be a homophobe too because...?
You can see this in GoT too with Meryn Trant in the show where not only does he act as a glorified wife beater for the king, kills Syrio, lies during a trial but he's also a pedophile!1!
Korra sounds like a teenager going "fuck you dad I'm special!"
Looks like I made the right choice by dropping this after the first season.
She's a tomboy you plebian
>I don't like this trend of modern progressive writers of trying to make every bad guy evil in every possible way.
Modern writers don't realize some of the best villains are those with reasons they do what they do that the reader can sympathize with. Now its all mustache twirlers.
>yona
Based and cute pilled
Never watched GoT, but writers are getting worse as the years go on.
Showed this pic to my gay friend.
>Friend: What a cunt
I liked Ashi, she just needed more than 5 episodes for development instead of that last 10 mins of the finale being the worst writing choice for a cartoon I've ever seen in my life
This is a new level of pathetic.
this
He was overhyped, even he was dying i held out hope he would turn it around. What a shit end
It went to shit the moment he started writing a script with spiderman in it at all, pre-superior slott was horrible, then it became an abomination of shit with superior and onwards
Most western shows are turning to shit anyways. I'm glad I didn't even watch Korra. ATLA was amazing I want to preserve that memory
>ATLA was amazing I want to preserve that memory
Whatever you do, don't read the comics.
>the best superior comics were the ones that slott didn't write
And yet they were the best selling. Even Superior Team Up was better and it was in cancellation numbers for most of its run.
Except for the part where the ratings were so terrible that if Nick hadn't already paid for 4 seasons after 1, they would have cancelled the show soon after. Also the part where it's a critical and public bomb.
She’s also hot
>Korrasami started in season 2
Dude korrasami wasn't even hinted at until like the last third of the last season
Be aware, the writer for that shitshow also thought that Avatar wasn't diverse enough, so she stuck hijabs and other such shite into it.
Still mysteriously lacking anything remotely close to white in that diversity of hers, mind you. Other than the president or whoever the fuck he was, he was remarkably light-skinned.
>Meryn Trant
I don't think thats a good comparison since unlike Sozin, who wanted the best for the world (the best being everything existing under the control of the Fire Nation in a full conquerors mentality), book Meryn Trant is shown to be a ruthless, despicable and uncaring monster that sees people as things and whose loyalty is bought by being enabled by his superiors to do as he wants.
What the heck?!
You can see the man (if he could even be called that at this point) is shattering on the inside saying this spineless shit just so he could have the opportunity to orbit those dykes.
>the world isn't as accepting as your family, be careful
>FUCK YOU BIGOT!
Is Korra literally retarded, or what?
Yup
Do you really need to ask that question?
It's not exact but it's more of the general trend that characters can be despicable without needing to be a rapist/racist/homophobe/pedophile/sexist and it feels like making the villains that is just pandering. Mind you, this isn't exclusive to modern writers since rape has been used that way for decades but it feels like it's getting worse now that there are so many -ists you can be.
Honestly you're right. For as much as the franchise and fandom likes to piss on him, I can't think of a point in which something he did wrong wasn't ultimately just Korra shifting the blame onto him for her own dumb actions. I don't particularly like him though. He's a pretty boring, boilerplate character.
That's show Meryn. Book Meryn is more of a robot "oaths says obey the king, I must obey the king beep boop." Sansa even comments on the differences between all the Kingsguards who beat her and she says while Boros is cruel about it, Meryn seems to have no reaction whatsoever. Show Meryn is a fusion between him and Boros.
>"I can stretch my anus so far I can use it as a sleeping bag with how much I let Hasbro fuck me."
Please die.
>wojack poster
You first
mmmm
LOL It's like she's disappointing that her family wasn't more disapproving and she only had one speech prepared.
Wasn't she the illustrator?
retards are still mad there ship didn't happen sad
the only place i see rage with this shit is on here dont you think you guys are over reacting just a bit
>doesn't remember the shitfest of tumblr and reddit over how shitty Nick's streaming is.
Nick didn't even give a shit about it. They just wanted it over.
Making Sozin hate gays is so fucking stupid, like the motherfucker wasn't evil enough already.
I liked Ashi and I liked the idea of using her as a focal point for convincing Jack he had plenty of things still worth fighting for in the future. The problem is simply that
a) They don't take enough time developing her and her relationship with Jack in the series for it to feel earned and
b) They opted for Jack returning to the past and wiping everything out instead of staying in the future, so all of that buildup was/would have been for nothing.
>the only place I see people openly speak about hating this is the place where your every comment can't be back-traced to your IRL identity and used against you
Funny, that.
The Inventor of Time Travel is revealed in the second Season Finale to be Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
The moment she died in the finale it made all the build up with her just filler.
The Yea Forums King Hate Train really calcified with The Gift; not even with Bruce nearly killing Edward at the end of WoJaR.
fixed
I'm mad that Mako got pussyfied
