Usagi Yojimbo is all but unanimously loved here on /co.
I ...guess Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing is too but someone could surprise me.
I'm ambivalent towards Usagi. I can't get into it because of the art style, but everyone who's read it insists it's great and I'm not willing to damn it just because I can't dig it.
Same. Another barrier to entry is just how poorly collected it is.
Usagi may be the best collected series on the planet this side of Cerebus
What are you stupid? To collect the whole series you need 33 (thirty-three) collected editions, which are almost entirely out of print. That's the definition of a barrier to entry.
Bone too, and early hellboy.
I guess a few years before it ended (twice) everyone liked or was neutral on Hellboy?
Are YOU stupid
To collect the entire series, assuming you can't find the 7 book original set, you can get the Fantagraphics two book set which is constantly in print and the 8 volume epic collections, then get the epic volume for side stories if you want and the TMNT/Usagi epic colume if you need
You're right. I was getting mixed up from this page
en.wikipedia.org
The collections you're referring to had issue numbers as "books". After looking up the books themselves on Amazon I see they do collect the whole thing.
Rare Yea Forums moment: I admit I was wrong, and I'm sorry.
I would tentatively nominate Mike Carey’s Lucifer run as well if only it wasn’t for the powerlevel shitposting that tends to crop up around it.
Bone’s golden, yeah. But Mignola cost himself a metric FUCKTON of goodwill when the supposed end to Hellboy was a fucking mess so bad many agreed it would’ve been better if Hellboy in Hell was the actual ending. I never even thought HiH was supposed to be the actual ending and I kind of see the point when Mignola’s yapping on about continuing Hellboy’s story even beyond the point of getting CLANG’d
Oh, and the original Books of Magic run? I think those are pretty well liked.
SEQUEL FUCKING WHEN
Considering Stokoe just put out an artbook with all his Orc Stain leftovers: never
Hitman? People might kneejerk due to Ennis, but anyone who reads it loves it.
I hate Ennis and even I think Hitman is good
Much depends on what do you mean by artstyle, because it has evolved dramatically in the 35 years since the comic started. Personally, I kept pushing reading Usagi back despite numerous recommendations till I finally gave the series a chance and now it's in my top 5 of best comics of all time.
I accept your concession and virtually shake you hand as befitting our community
I don't hear complaining about the Hellboy only Hellboy stuff.
There was a lot of hate around the time of the movie/finale to the BPRD comic. Whether that was knee-jerk or will last, we will have to see.
That's why I said Hellboy only. I don't count the BPRD into that.
1980's G.I. Joe aswell
You can probably count on one hand the amount of people on this board that have actually read that.
Let's be honest. Fewer than 1% of Yea Forums has read Usagi Yojimbo. Not from Marvel or DC, not about superheroes, and not even in color.
I don't really like Bone.
King city?
bro I met him at a small comic con in vancouver a few months ago and he laughed and said "when it's done"
I think he knows how much it hurts too.
I didn't like King City at all.
well, we can scratch that one off the list
I'm sorry.
while we're here, do you have any nominations for universally liked comics?
When i read that i got real fucken mad at how it's explained that "It's okay to kill this drug lord scumbag because he's responsible for so much wrong." even though any grownup knows that crime kingpins of any kind are infinitely replaceable in the pyramid structures they always build. Any crime pyramid collapses and disappears when the bottom level is removed. In China they just shot anyone found with drugs. Brutal but effective. Civilized people work on rehab and economic measures that make it so the least amount of people actually want to fuck their lives up with drugs, gambling, whatever destructive addictive vice.
Either way, the whole criminal enterprise disappears. That dumb issue is plain propaganda for the joyless Ennis style of cruelty and violence filling in for substance.
I don't think there is such a thing; there's always someone who will tell you to fuck off. I'm going to list a few, but I expect all or most of them to get scratched off.

Having a hard time imagining someone disliking this one
;_; Fuck my life.
.
Beautiful Darkness? I mean the last thread has alot of replies in it and Yea Forums really likes the comic IMO.
It was okay. Not really that great. I can't say that's universally liked.
Unironically the only place to discuss the comic is on Yea Forums, can’t seem to find other forums that talked about Beautiful Darkness though.
...
It's a guy who kills people for money, I think you might be reading too much into it.
Is there anyone who dislikes Superior Foes?
Sandman? Everyone I've put on it absolutely loved it
It has its flaws. Some parts are great, some are mediocre. Some Endless Nights stories I would even call straight up shit.
I've seen plenty people shit on Sandman on Yea Forums
I can agree that some sidestories are a bit shit, I even remember it dragging a bit during them. And the art for the climactic arc doesn't fit at all. But the main story is fantastic.
Thats a loss regardless though.
I don't think I've ever seen so. That comic has earned Nick Spencer a lifetime of goodwill
I don't know what people see in it. Not very good.
Orc Stain is awesome, but tell James to finish the damn thing. I want to see how the rest of the story plays out. Its been YEARS.
Welp. Scratched off the list
Okay has anyone who has ever read Osteander's Spectre disliked it?
What's this?
