My Favorite Thing Is Monsters is 20% off at the lcs for Pride Month. Is it worth getting? I really liked the Free Comic Book Day preview for it.

A few people last shelf thread were curious about this so here it is, came in the mail, Immortal Hulk #1 but somehow missing a barcode. Print error? First one I’ve seen.

Brandon Stewart
Lincoln Jenkins
how's 4 kids in a bank? rosenberg's marvel books take great teams and fucking bore me to goddamn death by just being a slog 88% of the time, but this seemed interesting
Levi Ortiz
Clearly it's a bootleg.
Hunter King
I was disappointed to be honest. I got it because everyone here and Reddit was raving about it, but meh... It was drawn out and boring.
Caleb Cooper
Read it and find out.
Angel Mitchell
Thinking about finishing off my Love & Rockets library collection. And then working on some image titles.
Nathan Mitchell
What’s the plebbiest/patricianist comic on my shelf?
Adam Gray
Plebbiest is Supreme Power
William Harris
Paper is the right texture, as is the size.
Elijah Hill
>The Borgias

John Wilson
god I love Stokoe
Owen Hill
>TFW you'll never read the end of orc stain ;_;
Christopher Davis
So does this one really confirm that there won't be any more Orc Stain?
Nolan Collins
Not really, there's stuff in it that goes beyond the unpublished issue he's already posted online.
He could still continue it but if he doesn't all the art is out there now.
He's got a patreon now too I think.
Aaron Mitchell
It's likely a blank variant with the blank cover ripped off. When I go to my LCS I'll check some of those to see if they have the barcode on the cover under it.
Michael Wood
See I thought that too but I can’t see any indication of tearing. Could be
Carson Mitchell
I really dug it. Met the author at comic con last year too and she's super friendly and humbled by the attention it got
Kayden Bailey
How's black hammer? Also, did you read all the spin-offs, like doctor star and whatever?
Isaiah Wilson
What are the essential omnibuses that everyone should own?
Juan Rodriguez
How come none of you assholes told me that the second BatMorrison omni was out?
Charles Wood
Love me some Black Hammer but the only spinoff worth it so far is Doc Starr. Maybe Hammer '45
Benjamin Watson
There aren't any really, it's more a question of what do you like, and what omnis should you avoid?
Like the first printing Fourth World omnis.
Grayson Brooks
Marvel solicitations are out for September
bleedingcool.com
Highlights include reprints of Annihilation omni, and both Bendis Daredevil omnis. Also a new Peter David hulk omni (although we already knew about these from rumors.)
There's also a rumor floating around for an Ultimates omnibus reprint, and since these rumors are true 99% of the time, we can book it.
Benjamin Green
I think it's arguably the decade's best comic.
Jack Long
redpill me on Alpha and Beta please

Got it after work today. Will probably read it over the weekend. Any idea when Volume 2 will be released?
Hudson Jones
September 2020
Owen Wilson
So does that mean it's not as good as a regular first print?
Lucas Flores
>what omnis should you avoid?
Easy. Literally every DC one. Not a single one has no errors
Eli Taylor
>and what omnis should you avoid?
Any DC omnibus from before this decade. They have glued binding, and gutter loss like you wouldn't believe.
Evan Morales
Damn, I just started buying the Hulk Visionaries.
Also, does anyone have any experience with placing floppies on shelves? Any tips?
Samuel Lopez
>Also, does anyone have any experience with placing floppies on shelves? Any tips?
I mean, you'd just bag/board them and put them on a shelf the same way you'd do a book. Personally if that's the route you're going down, I would just put your floppies into a shortbox (such as pic related), and put the box itself on the shelf. Would just look better.
Michael Taylor
No, ALL DC omnis. No one is talking about the second morrison one because the first one was too fucked up
Adam Baker
eh, I can live with a page out of place or a speech bubble missing text. Glued binding I cannot.
But yeah. DC is a disaster.
Evan Fisher
My girlfriend's dad just made her a cool rotating shelf / side table that holds most of her shit so she have me most of her shelf right next door, so i have a ton of extra room now. Can't wait to start filling it out.
Luis Jones
Bonus, any OP fags on Yea Forums?
David Cook
I don't have any space for One Piece, but one day when I do, I'll scoop the whole series. Ditto Hunter x Hunter. Manga just takes up so much space
Colton Carter
I suppose one could call me that.
John Howard
I started buying in middleschool when it was like 4 columes deep into the US release and didn't know what I was getting myself into, ha ha.

How is Road to Perdition? I really like the movie.

I like the anime tough I stopped watching around 200~. I would like to read the manga but no way that i'm paying for it, too much volumes.

>Pleb

>patrician
The Borgias and Witchblade Absolute, I'm still jealous. actually, how is the quality, is the binding good?
William Thomas
If you have a tablet, the shonen jump app has every chapter and a bunch of other series for 2 bucks a month, if I wasn't already in so deep with it that's what I'd do.
Zachary Howard
I really like prohibition era crime stuff so I enjoyed it a lot. The art is unique and suited the comic well. It's in black and white but it does a lot of crosshatching which is a style I enjoy. I liked that it was written from the perspective of the son. It's not too long but not unsatisfying short. I would recommend giving it a read.
Jonathan Russell
Brody Wright
Juan Hill
did you get those off ebay......
Alexander Williams
The Black Beetle finally came in. Then yesterday I went to my lcs and got those floppies, and also check out a used books store that had some nice comics, ended up getting the hellboy companion book, killing and dying, and Dagon by Ben Templesmith. Templesmith's name is misprinted on the cover and there was a print by him of lovecraft
David Lopez
I got JSA from my LCS. The others I got used from Amazon. I have a shipment of new comics coming from InStockTrades. I just find buying used is more affordable.
Jason Morgan
Nothing to show, I'm just waiting for the postman. There were two holidays this week, that delays everything here.
>sorry user, just got announced that those are being collected in a HC
It was known since months ago tho.
Josiah Green
Prediction: Marvel ends the Epic line next year
Lincoln Murphy
What makes you say this
Kayden Lee
Excellent stuff! You get this for the art, it is gorgeous (text is minimal). Alpha is about the creation of the univers to the apparition of the first hominidae. Beta deals with the first half of the exustence of human kind.
He juxtaposes art illustrating the creation of the universe from a scientific point of view (with superficial scientific facts explaining everything) with art illustrating the same subject, i.e. the creation of the universe, from a mythological/religious/folklore/legends/"human mind" point of view. Google the art to see samples. It's great, a bit pricey, but totally worth it.
Jeremiah Price
From Alpha
Cameron Torres
Besides finishing my Hitman collection, what should I get next? I'm thinking maybe that Hank Fletcher collection or the next two KSBD trades.
Jayden Campbell
It seems like they are printing smaller and smaller print runs of each book, so it must not be making them much money.
Caleb Lewis
Seems like conjecture to me
Michael Evans
Jace Smith
welp, I'm sold
Benjamin Jones
Sebastian Kelly
not the user that asked, but this jumped up on my must buy list. That is amazing and I love some good /sci/ in comics
Gavin Collins
>so it must not be making them much money.
anything they make is profit after print costs (and some have been pretty fucking cheap lately) because they don't have to give money to leeches
Brandon Martinez
I'm not done yet!
Juan Bell
author/artist name so I can find it online please
Josiah Russell
Jonathan Barnes
Well yes, it is, but it definitely doesn't show they have any faith in the line at all when they're printing so few copies.
Benjamin Harris
How do you know that's what's happening? How do you know the volumes just aren't more popular now? Or more people are buying because of FOMO? I just think you're doing some mental gymnastics. Saying the line will be "cancelled next year" is so silly that I doubt you believe it yourself.
Oliver Ramirez
>the first one was too fucked up

ah, so only Alpha is in english and is pricey as fuck. well then looks like I will just have to pirate
Gavin Russell
I'd say the binding is on par with a DC Absolute.
Jonathan Anderson
Juan Lee
I found Alpha for 50 Canadian on Amazon. Wouldn't exactly call that pricey as fuck
Adam Scott
That looks great
Tyler Perry
Thomas Wright
Ah, don't bother with the langugage, get it in an other language (one you might like to learn someday? perhaps?), and focus on the art.
The text is ultra light and superficial explanations of science (astrophysics, geology, biology, paleontology, etc.). I honelstly learned maybe only 2 things from the book (to be faire, I've read a few books on those subjects).
Thomas James
page count is higher than I thought, so ya.
ok, Maybe I'll try and download the french version to see if it is prohibitive to me.
Elijah Harris
I got excited for a moment because I thought you meant Ewing's Ultimates. Here's hoping, though.
Also there's two other highlights from the solicits that you neglected to mention:
>Doctor Strange Epic Collection: Triumph and Torment
>Black Bolt HC
Luis Murphy
Samuel Richardson
The Sorcerer Supreme Epic is a bit superfluous if you already own the omnis, but T&T being put back into print is great news. It's good too since it means that Into Shamballa (which goes for at least $60 on eBay) will probably get bundled into the second one.
Benjamin Hill
It's something fun to buy once a week or two and build it up. something to look forward to and enjoy see grow slowly on your shelf
Zachary Howard
The Joe Quesada artbook is getting a reissue with extra content come September, too. Say what you will about the man's editorial stint, but he's a pretty beastly artist.
Levi Scott
>The Sorcerer Supreme Epic is a bit superfluous if you already own the omnis
Well that's the thing, I don't (and they're expensive at the moment), and I've been saving to buy pure Epic Collections too, so that's one that will be on my list.
BTW Yea Forums, do you think I should get the five Swamp Thing trades, or wait until this Absolute Collection comes out? I've read plenty of negative opinions regarding DC omnibuses but maybe this will be better?
Noah Torres
I remember reading about this years ago, thanks for reminding me
Brayden Collins
>or wait until this Absolute Collection comes out?
KEK, they MIGHT be able to get the first one out, but they will never get them all out.
Jaxson Garcia
Not worth it, then? Plus it's very pricey compared to the trades. Maybe I'll just get that instead.
Adam Martin
ya get the trades, the Absolutes would be a HUGE gamble. Especially if you want the Veitch run that came after

Brayden Garcia
Don't the trades skip Loose Ends?
Jason Johnson
eh, even as a by Hank Pym fan the silver age stuff wasn't that good. It had it's charm but it wasn't anything near as good as the other Marvel stuff at the time. My local library has them though, so I mean to check them out and give them a full read some day
Nathan Thomas
Read Doll Man from Quality comics. The original shrinker, better than those low-effort knockoffs. More imaginative, with better art. Lou Fine, Reed Crandall.
Lucas Cook
Do The Invisibles Deluxe Editions have letters pages, or do I need to get the omnibus for that?
Logan Torres
Noted. I'm not the person you originally recommended to, but I'm taking your advice because I've been wanting to read some Ant-Man. I already have the full Spencer run.
Adrian Moore
Is that something to expect? The only books I know with letter columns are Silver/Bronze Age Marvel omnis
Nathaniel Richardson
wait for rightstuf to have a sale on manga and buy the boxsets, i think they're 24 or 25 volumes per box
Alexander Phillips
I've actually not gotten any omnis other than Marvel, at least not any from books with letters pages. Or at least not any that I've read. I have about a half dozen modern ones that are still in the plastic.
Ryder Edwards
Test
Robert Butler
It was in The Invisibles, because that was where Morrison taught everyone when and how to masturbate to properly charge the sigil to keep the series from ending early.
I'm not even exaggerating, this is a thing that happened, and it worked.
Jace Jackson
DC doesn't publish letters in omnis
Carson Nguyen
Well damn. I guess I've gotta track down the floppies.
Leo Anderson
I didn't think anyone here read letters pages. There are very few that are worth it...my fav is Sex Criminals and Murder Falcon/Extremity letters, cause they both have a great balance of people writing in weird humor and of people being deeply open and personal about their troubles. Extremity had a bunch of people writing in stories of losing limbs, Murder Falcon was full of stories of cancer.
Jeremiah James
letters are fun as hell, especially in old comics where they printed negative letters. nowadays letters are all hugboxes
Nathan Peterson
I'm especially interested in this because I just read Supergods and Morrison mentions using those letters pages to build up the persona of the person he wanted to be as part of his hypersigil.
Oliver Cruz
>almost missed this thread because the OP was titled wrong
Anthony Butler
I read the first 200 chapters and dropped it. I don't get it I guess.
Chase Watson
I don't think they have an archive of letters, or rather film of the letters pages at all.
And they stopped accepting letters at all in 2005.
Because they can't do anything fucking right.
Lucas Price
Despite how popular this shit is, I couldn't find a single place to read it online. So, no.
Alexander Foster
There are actually six Moore ST trades.
Also, the Absolute is going to be recolored from scratch so there is a good chance it will be blasphemous in how it looks ala Sandman, Killing Joke, and Flex Metallo's recoloring.
So you may want to buy the six Moore ST trades now, before they become $100+ books each as DC most definitely will make the recoloring in the Absolute ST volume the only version they'll sell the same way that you can no longer buy Sandman with it's original coloring in TPB.
Also, for the Strange Epic; the T&T graphic novel isn't in the Sorcerer Supreme graphic novels. And it's stand-alone release is OOP and goes for nearly $100. So it's an appealing option for those who want T&T or who did't buy the omnibus
Joshua Murphy
>That Sandman order.
Don't give me aneurysm.
Cooper Phillips
this is so stupid and fun that I have to have one
Luis Thompson
Back in the day Marvel would test prospective new writers by giving them four pages of unlettered art and having them write a script for it. That makes me want one too. And scans, I bet we could get some fun threads out of it.
Jason Fisher
I'm gonna do it this weekend then, don't want to delay it until it's too late. I got plans for that and a few epic collections and lesser known trades, if IST is helpful with that. Got my sights on some New Universe stuff too.
Andrew Murphy
>And scans, I bet we could get some fun threads out of it.
oh fuck yeah
Wyatt Lee
Newest Marvel solicitations have
Annihilation Omnibus reprint
Bendis Daredevil Omnibus 1 and 2 reprints
Peter David Incredible Hulk Omnibus vol 1
All in the span of about 5 weeks, gonna be hurtin my wallet but I need them for my shelf.
Brody Sullivan
Oh shit, I can finally get the Annihilation omni without paying rape prices. Definitely getting that one.
Ryan Brooks
What are the essential P Craig Russell comics /shelf/? I almost have all of his Operas but what else should i get? I honestly think he is the best comic storyteller there is out there. His panel to panel work is just flawless.
Adam Scott
>tfw looking up a copy of the Half-Century War trade and it's stupidly expensive now
Grayson Bennett
Just checked and you're right lmao wow that's nuts, 80 dollars for an OOP trade. Good time to be alive. Imagine being some wrong generation 15 year old boomer from the year 2050 and for some reason you just love books and old comics and want to own physical copies of them. That guy is so fucked.
Joshua Allen
No photo, but recently salvation army buys were 4 random Asterix omnibuses, Invincible 2 and 6 and a Jimmy Corrigan book I'm still trying to figure out. And a photo book that felt similar to what I did back in my college Photo class.
That Absolute Top 10 is so pretty.
Camden Gray
>spine decals not aligning throughout the series
WHY IN THE FUCK
Chase Martinez
Ever seen the three Miller-era Daredevil trade paperbacks?
Lucas Hughes
No.
But why won't you look on the fucking Lazarus in the OP? The fuck is going on? Why? And it's not only Image. The fucking Shaolin is all over the place too. Yet Chew is OK?
What were they thinking?!
Noah Reed
bruh I don't even fucking know. it's all so tiresome
Luis Baker
Don't worry, it annoys me too.
Zachary Gray
Sorry, just came back to this thread. Love Black Hammer. And I've read everything released so far for the series.

The only time they could (and did) get away with it was the Monk DVD collection.
Mason Cruz
>TFW when looking through the Kamandi omni for errors and you just end up reading Kamandi instead.

It's an odd one. There isn't much text to read, but it will take you several weeks to finish.
Isaac Myers
Vertigo is officially kill, all reprints cancelled
Thomas Hernandez
>all reprints cancelled
Why you be like this DC
My Sandman Mystery Theatre...
Blake Sanders
not enough people bought SMT, even when it was running. I just picked a random month on comichron (September 1998), and saw that
>Sandman Mystery Theatre 67 13,067
That's why it was never fully collected two different times. It's a great series, but didn't take off in the bookstore market
For comparison, Hellblazer that month was at 21,102, and Books of Magic was at 19,412. BoM was at issue 53, and I don't think the trades went that far.
Hellblazer didn't really get collected that much until the complete 2012 line, which might not finish now (up to 250 now)
Kevin Gutierrez
I was just reading Ostrander's afterword to his original Suicide Squad run and even that was ended because of low sales.
Why it be like this Vladimir?
Isaiah Parker
Jayden Bailey
Justin Hall
Welp, now cue the scramble to collect older TPBs seeing as future Vertigo collections will likely have a new spine/trade dress
Noah Martin
Who knows, the new ones might be better? At least we'll get a new logo.
Jack Ortiz
it won't be as good as the old one
Blake Wright
>what are those Star Trek HC's?
They're softbacks, but they're the IDW TOS and TNG omnibus collections, IDW Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover and an old DC OGN called Debt of Honor.
Owen Cruz
This month's purchases. Reading through Ronin right now. Pretty good. Miller loves those long vertical panels. I definitely prefer his art a few years later though.
That Eightball collection is gorgeous.
Levi Scott
I also picked up some back issues for the first time in forever. Been watching a bunch of Cartoonist Kayfabe, and they got me in the mood. My local comic shops are terrible for non-Marvel/DC stuff though.
Joshua Stewart
RBF is a trip, I picked up the three trades because of Kayfabe. I actually bought vol 2 straight from Veitch's website and he threw in Shiny Beasts , the collection of his Epic and Heavy Metal shorts, for free writing " a gift" above his signature.
Parker Long
How do we feel about ironic waifu pillows?
Elijah Barnes
Here is my shelf currently after all the books I have bought in the past 7 days. I'm running out of room and will have to combine the second shelf with the first, move my non Yea Forums books, trade some books for non Yea Forums related stuff, and eventually buy another small shelf.
Juan Perez
Nobody gets Makoto ironically, you're fooling no one but have good taste
Kevin Powell
That's awesome. I haven't read very much Veitch yet. Maybe I'll grab Maximortal and Brat Pack from him directly.
Ryan Moore

I don't bag them, they come bagged.
Levi Davis
So all of that is unread?
Brandon Jones
Oooh, I know it isn't Yea Forums but I spot House of Leaves on that shelf. That is a damn good book I don't think gets enough recognition
Carson Lopez
it's the website that former DC collected editions editor (and regular editor in the 1980s) Bob Greenberger used to post on.
After getting fired from his job for messing up a Hawkman archive, he continued to post there about news he heard. People like PAD were pissed that he was fired.
peterdavid.net
He proudly announced that Suicide Squad was going to get a Showcase Presents (he was the editor for the first year of it) years ago, then they hit royalty issues.
After months of silence, he announced that the project was cancelled, but they would be getting full-color trades instead!
Carter Rogers
I've read through them multiple times.
Xavier Miller
Meaning you put them back in the bags
>bagging trades
Zachary Allen
I can't bring myself to throw the bags away. There's so many of them
Josiah Lee
I knew a man who couldn't bring himself to throw out his cardboard boxes. Don't be like that guy.
Asher Gutierrez
yeah, but he was a weirdo and was using the boxes as shelves.
Oliver Watson
It's a slippery slope.
Brody Gray
we'll, before I become a meme I guess I have to.
Samuel Barnes
*well
Austin Adams
That "Spider-Man" font sure brings back memories.
Andrew Sullivan
Abrams is so slimey for this. Glad to see some writers hitting him hard for it
bleedingcool.com
Jeremiah Perry
I'm sure all those writers got into the industry by "knowing" someone too. That's the entertainment industry in a nutshell: know somebody. This time it's just blatantly obvious.
Wish they wouldn't waste Pichelli on this shit though.
Eli Anderson
Layman? No, he was a huge gamble for Image, he was unknown to everyone there.
Jordan Sullivan
You talking about Chew? That was way into his career already. I'm just saying that he probably entered the industry in the first place by knowing someone (or knowing someone who knew someone), or a fortuitous chance encounter of some sort. Every interview I've ever heard or wiki I've ever read about anyone in the entertainment industry, be it music, comedy, film, or whatever, it's crazy how similar all their stories are.
JJ Abrams son simply represents the very extreme of the nepotism scale. He would have been better off adopting a pen name so people didn't make the connection or forgot who his dad is, kind of like Nicolas Coppola becoming Nicolas Cage. But it's clear this kid is fucking useless because not only does he have to use his own name, but he has to staple it beside his father's name. I'd be shocked if JJ did anything more than a rough plot outline for this, but maybe his name is enough to trick people into buying it and jumpstarting his son's career.
There's also the sour grapes component. This literal who's first comic is Spider-Man. 99% of current writers have never had that opportunity and 99% would jump at the opportunity. This is a tasty bit of drama if I do say so myself and wish it would come by more often.
Blake Nguyen
lol I didn't adhere to his time rules, but it was just OK.

How do I display floppies, any ideas? Are boxes the only way? They're too huge for even a writer's whole run on a title
Jason Peterson
We're not all revolting little thieves, user
Jordan Miller
A revolting pirate? Nah
Kayden Morgan
...
Robert Morales
I want someone to invent a bag and board that'll hold twelve issues, I'm considering wrapping floppies in a ribbon 12 at a time and writing the title on it
Cameron Wilson
Well, there are wider comic bags that hold many issues.
Liam Martin
...
Robert Reed
I've looked for them, where can I find them?
Elijah Clark
Look at Bagman...use those find out where he lives and take all his trades out of bags please
Eli Carter
I can't actually answer that. I only know they exist because on occasions when I bought long runs on eBay they would come in these really wide bags that held anywhere from 10-20 issues. So they're out there, I guess.
Gavin Harris
Anthony Hernandez
It'll take some money and ingenuity on your part, but you can make custom 'sleeves'/holders for floppies of a particular run with some crafting board and printed paper. It might not be your thing, but it'll look better on yourselves.
Or you can buy some of those magazine holders you see at libraries.
Daniel Garcia

Kayden Ward

Fuck my life. Got the shittiest luck. Had another thing stolen today. In the past i have had comics stolen as well....when i first started collecting i bought Hellblazer, Death and Witchblade and all it has been stolen or lost through the years. Now with my collection and my luck i am starting to worry.
Have you ever had horror stories of losing your collections?
Julian Hill
Is someone stealing your mail or something?
Andrew Williams
Sorry this happened bro. Not cool.
>Have you ever had horror stories of losing your collections?
Personally no, but my dad has one. When he went away to university my grandma threw out his entire collection of baseball cards and comic books. The way he describes it, it would have been worth 10+ million. That's a shame.
Nathan Adams
Where do you live? Suburban Brazil?
Anyways, I used to leave my TPB's and shit all around my messy room as a kid and one day my dog peed on 15+ books when I was gone on vacation, so I had to throw away the majority of my 'collection'. I still have a WWH hardcover from back then as a reminder.
Jeremiah Fisher
>stolen
wtf how
Camden Perry
Cats love cardboard boxes so I've never thrown one away either. I just wait for them to be shredded fingernail-sized bits and then throw away the pieces.
Nolan Reyes
I wish we'd get more posst like this but it's not 2007 anymore
Julian King
I have my absolute favorites on blue-ray and nothing else
Zachary Perez
The two Nocenti/JRJR-era Daredevil Epics look like they're on their way out. In the last couple months they've got up in just about all stores by about thirty bucks.
Benjamin Hughes
"Friends" saying they lost them. People who i had been trading with and i give the benefit of the doubt to and then vanish, people who i lent it to and then never said they had it, and a house party that i ended up with a Hellblazer short.
I wasn't into collecting then so it wasn't so big a deal but now it kinda frustrates me cause i am rebuying stuff
Ian Sanders
Honestly, I just make a point of never lending stuff to people anymore after too many movies, games, CDs etc. people had borrowed "disappeared" over the years.
Brody Wood
You'll never get my bags. This I swear!
Robert Jones
Man /shelf/ is the only place on this shithole where people can really talk about comics, just let us have these threads to ourselves.
Jackson Richardson
You fucked up.
Owen Hall
Need some graphic novel reccs
Ryan Thompson
Anything Lemire. Seriously. All his own drawn comics are amazing and cheep
Ian Roberts
The only Lemire GN I haven't read is the one he did with Gord Downie. Can you vouch for it?
Oliver Watson
I haven't read it yet but yes. I know the story and if anyone can pull it off it is Lemire.
Adam Davis
From the Amazon description
>Chanie’s story is Canada’s story. We are not the country we thought we were. History will be re-written. We are all accountable. Secret Path acknowledges a dark part of Canada’s history—the long suppressed mistreatment of Indigenous children and families by the residential school system—with the hope of starting our country on a road to reconciliation. Every year as we remember Chanie Wenjack, the hope for Secret Path is that it educates all Canadians young and old on this omitted part of our history, urging our entire nation to play an active role in the preservation of Indigenous lives and culture in Canada.
Eh, this turns me off. I'm not a racist or anything, but I'm getting sick of hearing about Native this and Native that everytime I turn on the radio. The CBC literally can't do a news segment without mentioning something about it.
Angel Nguyen
No.
I hoard those.
Tyler Torres
Fair enough. But it is real. But Lemire can somehow take tired conversations and make them drag you in
Roughneck was very much this style of press
Juan Thompson
So..who would suck dick for comics?
Nathan Myers
People post videoegame artbooks somewhat often in these threads. Probably is vaguely relevant since a lot of them are put out by Dark Horse and Udon.
Something you want to tell us, anonymous?
Brayden Rogers
So Epic Collections will go out of print too? Lame.
Tyler Myers
If one BJ can get me Colossal King Conan? Yes I would.
Ryder Johnson
It would have to be a lot of comics and I'm not swallowing.
Logan Ward
W-which comics? Whose dick?
Adam Myers
I've decided I want to buy all of the pre-52 Birds of Prey. Wish me luck.
Henry Powell
>ironic
Anthony Martin
you guys missed the last shelf thread discussion, we were talking about these stor-folio binders that you can print out your own spine and covers for custom shit
Sebastian Rogers
Ah yes, my favourite One Piece character.
Deku.
Colton Nelson
It doesn't help that VIZ Media's volumes overall are just bigger and thicker than other language versions. Here in Poland most mangas are the same size they are in Japan. Nice and compact. They're also printed on high-quality white paper.
Adam Bailey
Did One Piece really need to be this long? Why couldn't it be the length of Fullmetal Alchemist or Assassination Classroom?
Adam Hernandez
Is Akira worth reading? Some people claim it's much better than the movie.
Colton Perez
>manga just takes up so much space
Yup and from what I have seen omnibuses are rare as fuck.
I haven't read it but from the looks of it, world building.
David Lee
Have you read it? OP makes that length work. You literally cannot have all the stories it's telling without the buildup of the previous ones.
Akira's story is a little meh but it looks so good you won't care.
Zachary King
Get Ostrander's Suicide Squad.
Oliver Cooper
>Have you read it? OP makes that length work. You literally cannot have all the stories it's telling without the buildup of the previous ones.
Pretty sure it uses the stock cartoon plot structure - a bunch of independent stories with their own sets of characters that all come together to play a role in the big climax season finale. Oda did that with Marineford and he's going to do that again with the final arc.
I mean, even Avatar used that structure. All the characters from Season 1&2 didn't come together in the actual finale but still. The Day of the Black Sun was still a thing.
Blake Watson
Okay. So which arcs would you like to cut out?
Camden Torres
Ask someone who has spent $1200 on Donald Duck comic books anything.
Brandon Fisher
dolan pls
Jacob Lee
Would you a Magica?
Charles Cooper
No
Yes
Isaiah Brown
I thought this book was still on "pre-order" now status
Owen Jenkins
Why do some comics have a bunch of little circles on colored pages?
Nathan Smith
Are you friends with Omar?
Ian Collins
M-maybe.
Cameron Thomas
How long have you been colecting Duck comics?
Dylan Thomas
Not cut out.
Shortened.
Angel Brooks
It's a shame they are all OOP. Good luck finding them
Lincoln Perry
Which content would you cut out to shorten the arcs?
Matthew Scott
Few pics incoming 1/6
Xavier Reed

Brayden Taylor

Juan Barnes
'08, but have been reading them well before that. I played Magic the Gathering a bunch in middle school and would read duck comics between rounds. I bought the first one, then just rolled into this mess of a shelf.
Tyler Carter
what do I do if I have a lot of comics but I have no place put a shelf in my place? is my only option is to be a box fag? Any suggestions?
Joshua Sanders
Yeah, or throw out some furniture you don't need.
Brody Johnson
Put a shelf sticking out of the wall sideways. You lose some floor space but gain a shelf
Jack Foster
get rid of some furniture and crap, and then get a shelf from a thrift store. At worst, you can place a couple books on an upright piano or similar table surface (with bookends). Are you living in a small apartment, or do you mean you just have to much stuff?
Michael Cook
you're a demon, just store them in a portal
Jose Evans
It pisses me off that Marvel does 500 Star Wars epics a year but keeps Spider-Man at 2 per year.
Brandon Wright
What's the best way to collect Marston's Wonder Woman? A comment on Amazon says the first omnibus has some censorship plus there's the usual issue of DC omnis, but as far as I can tell there aren't many other options.
Nathan Hernandez
Nice shelf, I will read some Donald Duck comics tonight. Anything specific you would recomend to somebody that has never read anything Duck related?
Camden Jackson
y-you can get comics for that? Why has no one told me this before?
Samuel Anderson
huh? take a photo I have no clue what you are talking about
how is Phonogram. I want to expand my music comics collection but Gillen is very hit or miss for me
Evan Clark
Start with Carl Barks, whatever you can get your hands on. After that, read some Don Rosa, which gives more backstory to some of Bark's pieces. From there, whatever you want. Have fun user!
Jose Reyes
Read the book Only a Poor Old Man from Fantagraphics' Barks collection, it has many of Barks' best stories.
Oliver Brooks
I love phonogram a lot. I relate to it a lot because I worked in a record store for a long time and did some work as a freelance music critic. Music has been a huge part of my life so the comic resonates with me. It's a v existential kind of story.
Jackson Stewart
Angel Peterson
Read in this order
>Only a Poor Old Man
>Lost in the Andes
>The Universal Solvent by Don Rosa
>Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa
>Duck Avenger or Italian comics
Lincoln Davis
oh, that's just the paper comic artists buy, I forget what it is called, but they buy it and cut and paste it into the comic. At least they did until they went digital, and once they went digital some artists took it way to far and it looks lazy (Deodato, looking at you). But what you are showing is a good proper use of it.
Elijah Ramirez
Anyone know some good anthologies of really short comics? Stuff like Future Shocks.
Alexander Anderson
Eerie and Creepy
Mason Jenkins
Nice, thanks a lot anons. It seems this weekend I will be reading a lot of Duck comics
Aiden Walker
Is this what it's going to take to get Dark Horse to continue their Moebius Library?
Daniel Hill
would you recommend getting beta in french even though i dont speak it?
Brayden Campbell
how's sullivan's sluggers?
Logan Jackson
The Fantagraphics EC Artist Libraries are great
Mason Garcia
great
Landon Rogers
>>would you recommend getting beta in french even though i dont speak it?
I would say you loose like 10 to 20% of the experience without the text maybe?
The text is very superficial, but it does have interesting tidbits that might teach you some things you didn't know, so it's nice have for sure.
On the other hand, you can also see it as an opportunity to learn a new language. The science is the same in all languages, you would already undertand the meaning of what you're reading :)
Wyatt Baker
I really want to get Sullivan's Sluggers at some point for the Stokoe art, but the writer can suck a fat dick so I don't want to get any money to him. I keep hoping I'll see a used one turn up somewhere for cheap.
Christian Ramirez
>Copra volume 2 doesn't match
Damnit user, you fucked up.
Brody Wilson
boxfag here, just box em lol
Jackson Young
Er, no. That's not screentone. I believe what he's talking about is the cheap four color printing used in older comics in which the dots were so big they were visible with the naked eye.

Bought the German edition of a wordless Italian comic. Though it says it contains an introduction in both German and English, publishing is weird in Europe I guess
Kevin Adams
Serpieri is a fucking godsend. we don't deserve him
Andrew Smith
What's wrong with the writer? I wanted to get that book for the same reason, the art is great. Is the story pretty bad?
Andrew Johnson
Just post 'em up, user. No one is keeping you, after all this is /shelf/ as long as it is Yea Forums related you should be okay.
Colton Williams
Is IST dragging ass about shipping for anyone else?
I ordered a book on Wednesday and I still haven't gotten a tracking number, usually I'll get one the same day.
Julian Gray
Kek, I guess this is this your first time ordering from IST
Wyatt Perez

I read the first Rosa Box set. I haven’t read any more. I guess I’m just a Barks guy.
Jose Ross
Have you ever had sex? Serious question
Brandon Long
I do, but they're in a /box/ and I'm on a hiatus from collecting them while I'm selling off stuff on my /shelf/s.
Cooper Bell
Considering how badly rightsowners fuck up releases (see Netflix Evangelion), owning a copy of something yourself that has everything you remember can save you from being disappointed later.

This
And zero browsing fatigue.
Jose Lee
Recents.
The potlatch is getting old. I’m going to shake things up and talk about these comics.
Thanos Wars is solid start to finish
IW is a good event and the FF crossovers and few others are kind of necessary, but it’s not worth the unreasonable bulk of the book. And I don’t mind the Doom Patrol omni- because it is worth the weight and you don’t have to flip around to figure out what to read.
Marvel had a lot of garbage art in this period and crossovers bring it all out. Also there was an inadequate amount of Spider-Man. This event really needed some of that. Nobody cracks a joke. Ever.
ASM Norman’s ultimate fate is one of my favorite moments in comics. Ross Andru is one of my favorite Spider-Man artists. It’s a great book.
Colton Young

is there any way to find out for certain if some cardboard is acid free? noticed some of my HC books starting to drop forward at the top so i want to put some cardboard under the page area to stop it from getting any worse

Didn't even know Alex Ross had a youtube channel

Feel free to share good comic book youtube channels my dudes

Seen Artisia praised a lot on Yea Forums so found it for half price and grabbed it. And finally got Planetary. Been meaning to get it for a while. Missing the slipcase cover but i like the hardback cover more anyway
Christian Garcia
>that logo on the Planetary omni
When the fuck did that get a reprint?
Henry Cook
>worldwide shipping
Eh...IST shipping rates are fucking terrible. They charge around another 50% of the price just for shipping
Kevin Brooks
I don't have the room/space or really even the money but IST says there's an Absolute Swamp Thing By Alan Moore coming next week and that shit is TEMPTING
Blake Brown
Yeah, unless you're American just stay away from that website
Julian Torres
wait until people report on the recoloring. It might be a disaster
Leo Reyes
>Absolute Swamp Thing By Alan Moore coming next week
Bullshit . It's not slated until the fall, if it comes out at all.
James Martin
Huh? I don't understand. What is wrong?
Isaac Russell
I'm just surprised that the Planetary omni got a reprinting in the last three years (that logo launched right before Rebirth).
Usually those just go OOP
Thomas Bennett
Oh i had no clue. Says 5th printing 2016 on the inside
Colton Campbell
Is this worth getting? I'm a harley/ivy fag, but I also have some standards.
Angel Jones
Mine has the toilet seat logo.
Lucas Nelson
>Infinite Dark
Very well. This series doesn't get enough love on Yea Forums.
I use IST and CGN even though I'm not American. I just take advantage of their flat rate/free shipping then use a courier to ship them from the US to my country. I just have to look for the weight, but I'm about to switch to maritime shipping so it should be much cheaper.
IST has the issue (already acknowledged) of overstuffing the packages, so even a few trades will weigh almost twice the actual content, it's ridiculous. Not sure why they do that but it's a waste. CGN uses newspapers which is already good enough.
Tyler Rivera
Also see the replies to my post here .
Christopher Wilson
Just came back from picking up the items in my box, and saw this omnibus in the store. I've never grabbed something so quickly.
Thomas Hernandez
>Infinite Dark
>Very well. This series doesn't get enough love on Yea Forums.
To be fair, it has some very sloppy moments and some of the characters are very interchangeable. But i really like the concept and how he is going about it and the art is doing s good job of making things bleak.
Ya i live too far from the US border to do that, i live about 6 hours from the US and about 8 hours from any city in the US. Trust me i thought about that too but it just doesn't work for me
Kevin Green
Finally an answer! Thanks user!
Thomas Hernandez
Second part
Carson Thompson
My thing with Infinite Dark is that it pretty much reads like a proper hard sci-fi novel from any novelist, and not just a stylish comic book. As someone who reads a lot of that sort, it's weirdly refreshing. I do agree that sometimes some characters are unrecognizable until you read their names, but overall it's well written.
Andrew Parker
I agree it has the proper balance of some hard sci-fi with a splash of pulp. The concept is very refreshing, it builds on Asimovs The Last Question in a really good way. I also like the essays at the end of every issue. Not everyone can make those good (Ryan Cady has failed at those many times before, like when he was trying to do it for Witchblade) but he gotten some really essays from people for this
Parker Hill
Here we go, no bags this time. 1/8
Eli Green
I volunteered for a Anime Matsuri 4-day pass last weekend, thus not many purchases to properly save up for the eventual spending there. I didn't go over my budget too much and managed to cross what I wanted off of my list, so it was overall good. This was the only recent comic purchase so far.

A couple of Venom finds were a pleasent and welcome suprise. Friggin bolted when I saw this cutie amungst a wall of Miku and Alpaca plushes. They don't fit on my Venom shrine, thus they're expanding the Venom presence on my bed as well. They're perfectly made for hugging but I don't want to wear the plush down.
Xavier Wood

Gonna try to condense these for future threads

My Venom shrine expands a little more since I found this pretty cool Venom parody at Matsuri.

Flip them upside down every six months. Can't help with the cardboard.

Married. Have moved this shelf twice after changing apartments and buying a house.

Bark's stories are way more "down to earth" and tend to be my favorite too user. I'm just autistic.
Leo Diaz
>DC cancels something
In other news water is wet.
Parker King
The next one drops on wednesday.
Jason Hughes
I just moved, so I haven't gotten to organize the shelves yet
Carson Young
doyou hate the 3rd Sandman or something?
Anthony Ortiz
Nah, like I said: I just haven't had time to really organize yet. All of Akira wound up upside down somehow, along with a couple others.
Jonathan Garcia
Solid List, would add 'Avengers: The Trial of Yellowjacket' if you can find it.
This was arguably Marvel's weakest title from the Lee/Kirby days.
It has some fun moments when Hank Pym is Ant-Man, but once the Giant Man change occurs, it becomes forgettable, and the only fun moments are seeing how lazy the writing gets.
Justin Cooper
fag
Chase Wright
People weren't kidding when they told me Fantastic Four gets really good when the Frightful Four show up. I'm glad I stuck with it.
Kevin Young
Man, I can't believe the All-Star Superman Black Label reprint didn't get a hardcover version. Should I get the paperback?
Jaxson Long
As long as you're careful paperbacks stay in good shape forever. Weirdly enough most hardcovers I see are already fucked up when I see them in the shop.
Angel Gomez
I was going to start collecting all hardcovers since they started doing the really nice printed artwork on the covers (under the dust jackets) but it seems like they went back to the ugly black boards.
Christian Price
Hardcovers are awful
Elijah Collins
it depends supersons, wonder woman batman omnibuses had nice wrap around boards and then some others don't.. i wish they were consistent but its DC
Evan Cox
The only reason to get one is to have a book that lays flat, but maybe 10% of hardcover books achieve that due to cheap binding
