Modern comic films have made the shittiest fake fans out of casuals
>All Marvel knowledge has come from wikipedia/youtube videos, act like they read the actual story
>have only ever read Infinity gauntlet, Watchmen, and TDKR
>Will claim character is the most accurate to comics because it's MCU
>Talk about Stan Lee shitting Marvel universe out of his ass on his own, overlooking that the artists were co creaters who helped contribute
Fuck normies
Modern comic films have made the shittiest fake fans out of casuals
Just ask them how they would feel if DC were sold to Disney.
>Animeonlies
>Vidya journalists
The only media morons haven’t ruined are books
I wish I had the patience to read books
>Infinity gauntlet
You wish.
>normies
Heh
>books are the last safe haven
My god, you're right
i hate how popular it has become. recently, i was looking for an image of 1610 carol danvers eating and giving an "are you serious" face, but 70% of the pics were brie larson. and the spoonfeeding, in the guise of showing geek power, is even worse. content creators taking shit from the wiki to make a youtube video for even more normalfags. "top 10 worse designed costumes", "top 10 avengers that you've never heard of", and so on...
>All Marvel knowledge has come from wikipedia
I got most my info from the internet. Way long time ago, when the internet was young. I barely dipped my toe into the World Wide Web. One of the first things I did was look up comic book characters. Character and not condense not like how they are now. Reading a character and learning their interaction would lead me to look up other characters. I would spend hours just reading different characters online.
That's my little blog post
IG was the most popular trade for a while
The spoonfeeding has become the worst because to casuals, knowing comic trivia and facts is more important than the enjoyment of reading the comics
>using “normies” unironically
Grow up
i like the distinguished competition and zach snyder completely ruined it with his non watchmen movies. now normies think DC is all dark and gritty and ultra serious, when its really not
Don't forget the dumbest thing they say
>Injustice is great because that's something Superman would really do
Almost like normalfags only care about the surface level knowledge & not the core content that created these ideas in the first place. Most of them have probably never been in a comic shop.
Well, reading Wikipedia is the more eficient way of understanding cape comics.
>be normie
>go to LCS
>pick up winter solider, age of Ultron, or infinty war trade
>return it because movie was nothing like the book
>look at floppies
>[x] number 487
>think I have to read 486 issues to understand this one when in reality is like at most 5 or 11
that's a good point. there are a lot of good moments that the movies and the wiki don't capture. they really deny themselves of that pleasure.
how the fuck did women go from complaining you didnt read the source material to overlooking it entirely. i swear its always bitches that complain about "you have to read the books first" but apparently not when it comes to anything that men are interested in
I have a Nightwing logo shirt that I periodically wear. Three times I've gotten a comment on it from normies thinking it's the SHIELD logo. The most recent one was at the beach where this fat bearded guy in his 30s whispers "Hail Hydra" as I'm walking by. When I stop and say it's not the SHIELD logo, he backtracks and says that he knows and he was just testing me. He said he knew it was the logo for "Firebird."
>The only media morons haven’t ruined are books
Clearly you gents haven't read through any Yea Forums threads
Wat
I saw a guy wearing a Frank miller batman shirt and I ended up talking to him about tdkr and the new superman book and he was happy I knew what it was from and that it wasnt zombie batman, pic related
Oh please, Mr. Hardcore Comic Reader, tell us more about how you read obscure comics like "Ultimate Avengers", from esoteric indie publishers like "Marvel".
>I wish I had the patience to read books
Do what I do and read for about an hour or so in bed before going to sleep. It not only helps you burn through books faster but helps clear your mind making it much easier to sleep.
>be me

Based normies. The true redpill is that nerds need to fucking die so that entertainment can be cool again.Fucking shit nerd suck the fun out of everything with their toxic obsession. There's nothing with being a casual, gatekeeping tard freaks,go back yo your basements
Back in High School, there was this one kid who just looked at Wikipedia articles about the Flash or any number of random characters. Now I was always balls deep into a comic book at any given point of time, new stuff, old stuff, stuff nobody has ever heard about, those kinds of books. So he comes up to me and tells me he's a big fan of comic books, and he starts asking me random ass questions about Batman or the Flash. After a little while he asks me if I know who the Presence is, and that "only a REAL comic book fan knows who the Presence is". I then ask him if he even reads comic books, and he just fucking shuts down, like program.exe just shut down in his brain. He then walked away and asked the teacher (He also asked the teacher about random ass shit from the 80's) if there is anyone he can "talk comics" to. Throughout that year I tried to convince him to read an actual comic book because he misses so much from just reading the Wikipedia article, and he just told me "I read a comic book a long time ago".
This but slightly less ironic
Why does that bother you so much?
How would you feel if someone just read the wiki of your favorite cartoon and suddenly declared themselves a huge fan and knowledgeable about that cartoon?
>I wish I had the patience to read books
haha, fag
Not nearly as bad as some marvelcuck claiming to be some comic book pro when all they read is their mainstream baby capeshit, while having the audacity to claim anyone else is a "casual".
Shut the fuck up Normie
Oh god. I feel sorry for you and wish you the best in repressing thaf shit.
I thought the laser from the thumbnail were 2 happy pieces of bacon.
Ignore it and probably watch an episode of my favorite cartoon.
I just got into an argument with my room mate about Comicstorian. How is detailing recent stories allowed to be monetized on YouTube
Go on with my life? It's not like it effects me in any way.
This is a very specific issue that only applies to adapted materials. It's like if the Last Airbender was a big hit instead of a flop. Then everyone went around calling him Ong, thinking fire benders can't make their own fire, and that the movie portrayal of Iroh was show accurate. Then they change the show to match the movie in hopes of getting a wider audience but the movie watchers don't care about the show
Is that rob or benny?
They're both the same normalfag enabling trash
The only guy who isn't cringe inducing Is sal/comicspop
Now comic tropes, he's based
Books are under attack too.
Comictropes actually makes some good content. He isn't just reading modern stories that came out a week ago
Chris is that odd combination between a genuine nerd and a genuine normal guy. He can talk to both groups with ease.
I dont see why it's such a big deal for them to cover new stuff, it's like RLM and half in the bag, not that big of deal.
That's just the pop culture YA shit for the most part.
>chuck wendig writing sjw bullshit
I'm shocked
RLM is a movie review channel. They don't give out the whole plot just their takes on it. They even do spoiler free reviews. Comicstorian and Comic Explained just read Wikipedia summaries of the story
It's not like the "Meta self aware" tone of Marvel is any better
It just appeals to the 2 cool 4 Sincerity crowd that has become mainstream due to the rise of snarky irony
Both ultra gritty and reliance on meta are shitty
But user, recapping the entire plot with your commentary here and there IS a review. Channel Awesome taught us that back in 2008.
I like Sal,he legitimately likes comics and can tell some of them are shit.
Also he lives my fantasy of telling my normalfag friends why Modern Spider-Man is pure trash.
>present tense
what a hack
>Watching capeshit
>Reading capeshit
>Enjoying capeshit
Yikes
i wiki skim if its a character i dont care about to be honest
>pays more than once to see a movie just so it gets a meaningless record over a movie THAT DISNEY ALSO OWNS NOW
normies were better when they casually enojy things, now they are in this state of being hardcore casuals forever
>loving misha
The guy who wrote the Walking Dead novels used the present tense, as did Stephen King for his Bill Hodges trilogy. It's a stylistic thing that is weird at first, but you get used to it.
Maybe you're a faggot who gatekeeps too much.
Wiki skimming is fine when it's just for information on a character. If you pretend to be their biggest fan after skimming then it gets obnoxious
The only thing people ask is read the source material. If that's too much stop acting like you enjoy comics or understand the character outside of the movies
It's because new age fags don't read books, they are too dumb and can't read.
Books are one of the few mediums where you're expected to think while reading, by envisioning everything and keeping the details in synch.
well said
If just the source material was accesible and in order.
I been binge reading X Men online. Just search on google for comics online and also check for reading orders. I read Deadly Genesis in one night. Messiah Complex in another night.
Back Issues is fun, I just wish they could form a different opinion than Sal has. He also needs to ditch Joel.
There are countless list online, places to read them, and download links. You're the only thing stopping yourself
>when user is right
Holy shit. I never noticed.
Wonder how long it will take for them to get infected too.
Where do you think shit like Hunger Games and Twilight comes from
/r/gatekeeping
>MCU movies are so comic accurate. Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man because he's just like in the comics
>no he's not
>Gatekeeping! Gatekeeping!
>/r/
Fuck off. Reddit is full of circle jerking morons pretending to be smart.
This is all fucking true. I saw them reposting something about Thanos "honoring his creator"... Stan Lee.. When he passed. I saw mutiple DRAWINGS of this. How the fuck can you not even look that up and see it's Jim Starling who created Thanos?
It's normie emotional association. They don't ever make logical, factual connections, they have shallow emotional associations for everything. Stan Lee is the FACE they see in the MOVIE so in their half-brains they automatically assume, without a second thought, he must have created every character they're looking at. (This why guys like Starling need to have face-time cameos in movies too because that's the only way to get normies to give them credit).
Bruh, Marvel literally does this themselves. They have a "TLDR" series explaining comics to normies. Comics they sell. How about just linking to the comics and selling them if they think normies are interested? The only reason TO NOT sell their product is hoping throwing comics under the idiot buss will make the idiot bus drive to the movie theater.
It's beyond pathetic.
>Not liking the term normie
How fresh off the newfag boat are you?
>How the fuck can you not even look that up and see it's Jim Starling
You should have started looking up his correct name before your big speech
>zach snyder superman and batman are crazy people and not any way like the source material
>"gatekeeping"
We just dont watch ignorant assholes to co-opt our hobby
At least he read something instead of saying he "doesn't have the patience" to read. Like normies. With the attention span of fish.
>muh stan lee created the marvel universe!
>not giving all the credit to jack kirby and Steve Ditko
Sickens me desu
That's capitalism. The big, popular movie business against the tiny, niche comic business.
That ain't capitalism, it's a fact of nature. The one with more resources has a bigger influence.
Hear hear!
It's just a typo. The G is silent in this spelling, there you.
I don't think you know what capitalism is
The source material has never been more accessible, writers bend over backwards to cater to new readers.
How dare the mundanes enjoy MY mass-produced corporate products INCORRECTLY!
For instance,
Well comic stories are much more profitable being adapted to movies and in theory more profitable=better for society.
>in theory
Yes.
>expecting people to actually take part in the hobby is too much
Maybe you should stop reading cape books and flicks for children, you stupid faggot. Grow up. There's more to the world than your fucking superpower fantasy.
Why the hell are you so concerned about it? Publishers like Marvel and DC retconned, reboot, and outright change fundamental aspects of many of their flagship characters, including their well-known powers and abilities, if they knew they could get a quick buck off it from their mindless consumers. It's not important if many of their fans lack the knowledge of the lore of characters who are older than their grandparents. Marvel doesn't care. Neither do their characters.
>All Marvel knowledge has come from wikipedia/youtube videos, act like they read the actual story
I actually hate these bitches. Like, just read nigga it's not hard.
But but but but but I'll have to read 1000 issues of superman to understand the story now!
>I'm totally cool with people not even giving credit to artists, writers, inkers, letterers, etc
Okay.
You'll defend them when they say Beyonce invented the Avengers won't you?
They don't make the movies, just the writer and the creator deserve something
>He said he knew it was the logo for "Firebird."
LOL
Yeah they make it possible for the unimaginative hacks who DO make the movies to come in and fuck it up, fleece it for money and leave them with nothing.
Just like Steve Jobs with the people that invented the little things that make a fucking Iphone works. Welcome to the 21 century
My least favorite normie take of people who just watch the movies is “DC should just make all their movies animated! Their live-action stuff sucks, but their animation has always been great!”
It ignores the fact that DC’s recent animation output has ranged from okay to utter shit. It comes from a place of blind nostalgia for the DCAU, and while the DCAU still holds up today, blind nostalgia leads people to say ignorant shit that glosses over a lot of other complex factors. And lastly, it’s a take that’s completely fucking oblivious to the fact that theatrical animation in the West is viewed as kiddie shit, and live-action is viewed as the only thing that “counts”.
Yeah, and conversely it really brings out the sweaty elitists that think they're better than others for having read more capeshit and alienating potential new readers. But anyways, fuck people trying to get into comics, right?
They're not trying to get into comics. At best they look at wikis to get information on future films.
And gatekeepers are necessary for a fandom to not collapse. You can't accept just any retard because they have some interest. I have a passing interest in music theory but I'm not going to go on Yea Forums and talk about the history of Queen based only on me seeing the Bohemian Rhapsody film.
I am the Champion of the Castle of the Plucked Eye and Heart
>Still think some kind of Yea Forums adaptation would do it good, that BBC thing was disappointing.
Everytime i see "zhe" I hear tf2 medic saying "the" with his accent. I somehow never heard it being actually spoken.
>being mad about how other people enjoy the hobby
Kettle, meet pot.
Post that fucking pic again and see what happens, nerd. >:-/
>All Marvel knowledge has come from wikipedia/youtube videos, act like they read the actual story
I don't know why people do that. Its easier to admit that you don't know/read x thing instead of brag about your useless knowledge
The only escapism media I watch nowadays are Televangelists they are the most Anti-anime thing ever, well second only to Cartoons of course.
