ITT Forgotten or hated Avengers

I'll start with Silverclaw, south american child of a primal goddess who has shapeshifting abilities but is also coincidentally pen pals with the Avengers butler Jarvis that he never mentioned before. Oh and also she's now a shapeshifting creature.

The Sandman

It's not a bad powerset, but the silver works against it.

Hey kids, remember Triathlon?

yeah. that asshole shot crusader.

I do now. He was the guy who became the new 3-D Man. Leaving the illustrious Triathlon mantle empty.

Magdalene. Fought the Avengers, joined the Avengers, very tall woman.

Blatant Big Barda homage/ripoff as well.

I won’t forget Tigra. SHES LIVES THROUGH ME!

she was great in Bob Harras' avengers run

How is that top staying on? Eternal super-science?

cute feet

She transmuted a lot of double sided tape

I'd rather not.

A rather ugly stain in an otherwise stellar era for the Avengers.

Remember Moonraker?

That time Nebula was in the Avengers but it actually wasn't Nebula because of a retcon years later

Madame Masque had a bio-duplicate who was an Avenger for a hot second

He wasn't an avenger, he was part of force works.

I liked Lionheart's design and wished that someone would do something with her, shame about being a Chuck Austen character though.

Yeah that sucks, her design is great.

Didn't eventually all the edge bullshit get retconned and she simply got to retire with her family?

The edge of her history was still there, but the problem with her being unable to reveal her identity to her family without them dying was quickly forgotten.

Claremont used her and it was horrible

Don't remind me of that shitty book, he ruined Nocturne.

>Have Sersi on team
>The same Sersi who appears in Greek myth
>Didn't just turn every villain they ever came across into pigs, saving the team a bunch of aggravation

HEART ATTACK

Maybe the Greek myths weren't entirely accurate

I mean look at Marvel's thor, he isn't even a redhead.

You know, on that note....CAN MArvel Sersi turn people into animals?
I don't think I've ever seen her display that power

>I mean look at Marvel's thor, he isn't even a redhead.

He used to be.

Marvel's Asgard regularly went through Ragnarok's and was recreated with subtle differences.

The Thor who lived during the actual viking age was a redhead with a beard.

I thought it was a stroke?

My bad

too bad it didn't last.

actually come to think of it i sort of miss quasar and rage too

I was OK with his face turn cuz it was a slow burn, a lot more believable than Crusher Creel who was always a total bastard but now he's 'misunderstood'.

>Moonraker: Come on, man! Let me into the party!
>Bouncer: It's an avengers party. You ain't an avenger.
>Moonraker: I was in Force Works! That's practically --
>Century: It's useless Moonraker. Come on, I'll buy you some shawarma.

Imagine being named after one of the worst James Bond movies

I like his outfit

Kurt Busiek hated this so much he retconned Moonraker.

Who's the blonde masked guy between Cap and Sandy?
Quasar?

Yes.

Good lord, how was anyone able to focus with Sersi strutting around like that?

Don't you objectify her, shitlord.

Avengers Forever is a great book. So was v3. And I haven't forgotten or hated any of these characters. I actually really like both Silverclaw and Triathlon/3D-Man.

Silverclaw was good, Triathlon was just kinda forgettable to me.

The whole resolution to his story, where he actually becomes 3D-Man, took a long time to happen. Some issue number in the 30's or 40's. I'm glad he moved on to Agents of Atlas though, definitely where he belongs as a part of the team derived from that What If? 1950's era Avengers story. They were used in Avengers Forever as well.

I thought Triathlon was absolute shit.
I hated the hamfisted "forced diversity" story they went with to get him on the team.

I mean he was more interesting than all of Hickman's new Avengers combined, but that's not saying much

Does it have to be canon 616 Avengers?

If not, remember J2? Stinger? Mainframe? American Dream? Freebooter? Bluestreak?

Triathlon is still worse.

Or Voyager.

Look at it as the most meta story of the run. In reaction to IRL demands for more diversity on the team, Busiek does an affirmative action story where a bad character nobody likes is forced onto the team because he was the only black guy they could find at short notice.

He probably hopes Twitter and Tumblr don't find out he wrote that.

Absorbing Man and Titania's relationship humanized them both, let readers see them when not 'at work', let them be more than violent dumb thugs

Good! Only good skrull is a dead one.

I liked Triathlon/3D man too, still do actually. Wish somebody would do something with him.

>Avengers Forever is a great book. So was v3.
They would have been better if someone controlled his urge to kill or retcon every character he hated, just don't use them if you hate them that much.
