Can we talk about how this was one of the worst comics ever written?
Can we talk about how this was one of the worst comics ever written?
End of Days? I thought it was alright. Still not totally sure why hearing "Mapone" made Bullseye kill himself. Only theory that kind of makes sense (I guess) is
>in spite of bullseye's tormenting daredevil, daredevil still found happiness and had a kid
and/or
>upon hearing daredevil had a kid, he realized daredevil's legacy will continue, and bullseye's will not. daredevil wins in the end
Nothing else is a satisfying explanation, and even that explanation is just kind of dumb. Otherwise it was an enjoyable comic. Ben Urich is an underused character.
Either explanation makes no sense. How would Bullseye know that daredevil had a child? Also the notion that Matt Murdock, a devout catholic, would just go around having unprotected sex and impregnating a bunch of women.
Hey, I admitted it was a stupid explanation, but it's never given in the book, and as the reader you have to make SOMETHING up in your head to make sense of it. That's the best I can think of.
>Also the notion that Matt Murdock, a devout catholic, would just go around having unprotected sex and impregnating a bunch of women.
This is a pretty stupid thing to knitpick about. A devout catholic wouldn't dress up as a leathersuit devil and beat people up either.
No, don't do that. The notion of daredevil fathering a bunch of children he had no intention of raising, is disgusting. In fact, any super hero conducting themselves in such a way is disgusting.
>cute kid
That was so inappropriate and out of line.
I mean, if that's your reason for disliking the comic that's kind of silly. You're also making a lot of assumptions. Maybe Matt did visit her. Maybe Matt didn't know about her, maybe the mother kept it secret. I dunno. A LOT of the comic is ambiguous.
I'm not even totally sure why Bendis did it. Maybe he just missed writing Daredevil. His final arc of his Daredevil run is the perfect ending, not just to his run but to Dardevil's story, so going back to revisit the character is questionable.
Also is bullseye superhuman now? Blunt objects can't do that.
Bullseye has always done stuff that is clearly impossible. It's comics. That being said, in OP's picture it looks like he's stabbing Daredevil through the ear canal. That part of the head is very soft, so it's possible he could go cleanly through.
What was his final arc again? The Murdock Papers, right?
Yup, where Daredevil's identity is exposed, he's disbarred, and sent to prison. Just about the perfect ending for a street level vigilante. We got a good story out of it with Brubaker's Devil in Cell Block D, but in my head I'd like to think this is the final Daredevil story.
>It is weird knowing you are reading a classic while its still coming out. Like it will definitely be up there on the list of must read DD stories with Daredevil yellow, Frank miller stuff, and all the rest.
>a devout catholic, would just go around having unprotected sex and impregnating a bunch of women.
Plenty of devout catholics do that, nobody is really pure and sinless and that actually is part of the christina dogma.
I have bad news about devout catholics for you.
>linking reddit
Why would you do that, especially when you're trying to prove a point?
God, reddit is so stupid.
The whole religion thing works with really well with Matt because he isn't perfect by any means and is generally such a contradictory guy. Miller played up the Catholicism angle strictly because in his words "only a Catholic could be an attorney by day and a vigilante by night".
way to out yourself
bump
>one shitty bendis comic on the long list of shitty bendis comics
I mean, what do you want to talk about, really?
First off, Daredevil will NEVER lose in a fist fight against Bullseye.
>Explain this then
>reddit.com
There you go
Until a writer decides he does. You could put him through a gauntlet, like they did with Batman in Knightfall, so that when he finally faces off with the villain, he's weak and vulnerable. There's no rules in comics, stop pretending there is.
One of Bullseye's first appearances had him kill a dude with a paper airplane to the throat. He's always been bullshit.
>and as the reader you have to make SOMETHING up in your head to make sense of it
No you don't. You can just say "fucking Bendis forgot his plot again" and move on. I can't be 100% sure, but this thread might be the first time I thought about this story since it ended.
Bullseye's one objective in life was killing Daredevil. Matt Murdock had a kid and that kid would train the next Daredevil. Bullseye would never kill Daredevil. Easy to explain. "But Bullseye know Mapone meant Matt had someone to train the next DD" Because Matt told him, it was his way of telling Bullseye his life was useless.
It's this, but the story doesn't communicate this very well. Bendis was far from the height of his powers when he wrote this, and it's an unworthy final Daredevil story as a result.
Second, the notion of Daredevil confronting Fisk in front of dozens of witnesses and demanding he just leave the state of new york, and then killing him in front of said witnesses, is also fucking stupid.
