Naturally it should be well written and strive for modest artistic novelty to give it substance outside the superficiality of the above mentioned criteria, Tongue-in-Cheek adult jokes handled tactfully could add a great deal of longevity to the show's formula as well. And slice of life comfy episodes could act as a nice juxtaposition to more action driven ones.
It's hard to see how the original formula would be directly updated into a modern show considering the "art deco" dexter's lab experimentation era has passed and the ambigous mediocrity of the humor isn't something that can just be transfered 1:1 either. Ultimately the true x-factor in such a show could lie in finding a truly passionate creative mind to head such a project. Imagine MLAATR done by the guy who did Mighty Magiswords.

Starts with Jenny rebooting after an unknown amount of time. Some Professor, dude or chick (doesn't matter), asks her how she is. She can't remember why she was shut down or anything past the previous series finale. The Prof says that is discouraging since they were looking for answers and hoping she could answer them. It then shows Jenny is in a room lools like an old timey museum exhibit to her, lots of newspaper clippings, trophies from her victories, etc. Her sisters are also there, but shut off. Series goes on, never stating how long it has been or where the previous series characters are, but lookomg only a few years ahead of time. Jenny makes new friends, possibly add the XJs to the secondary cast, and it goes about business as usual.
Reveal is that it has been a couple thousand years. Some sort of cataclysmic event happend and people thought it was end of days scenario. Lots of the smarter individuals got off planet. Nora stayed behind. Jenny pulls an Iron Giant and ends up nearly entirely destroyed. The cataclysm thing ended up knocking societal advancement back quite a bit. Nora was the one who assembled the museum as a mausoleum for Jenny with the best tech she could muster. After that she starts to help rebuild the planet back up with what time she has, leaving Jenny to hopefully be repaired when someone else has the tools to finish the job.
