As in a Return of the King sense of scale and epicness. What changes would you make?
How would you make Endgame have a more epic feel?
Get rid of memes and awkward “human” moments like hulk pushing the kids to take pictures with ant-man.
Use Kang the Conqueror as a hidden villain who finally shows up at the end rather than 2014 Thanos.
Get rid of the “Bluetooth” debacle with nebula and keep her alive.
If thanos is at all necessary, have Nebula do the snap instead of Stark. She deserves to kill Thanos for all the pain he put her and Gamora through.
>Cap screams "Avengers"
>raises Mjolnir
>thunder strikes and his shield is fixed
>raises his newly fixed shield
>screams "ASSEMBLE!"
Don't forget the fortnite scene
Do you really think you can make a comic book movie reach even the level of Return of the King, which already was a sanitized action-movie version of a proper literary saga?
Yeah, that too. it was cringe Boomer humor and really jarring. Get rid of the fat jokes.
it was honestly fucking weird they went for a whisper
like he's literally issuing an order... he needs others to hear it...
Avengers battle scenes focus on the heroes.
Lotr battle scenes show the maneuvres and progress of the masses of troops in addition to the heroes.
Point taken. All I mean is to know how anons would make the film feel much grander and epic in scale. RotK is the only film that popped into my head to try and illustrate a point
The fat jokes were the worst. They really don't know what to do with Thor
I wish Stan Lee could have played cap at the end, impossible because he died, but also would have been even more meaningful because he died
Because they were acutely aware of the hype surrounding Cap saying the line, so they treated it as a self aware 'hey guys, this is the moment! Heh, see, we finally did it!'
It would've also made his cameos better
Having the three fighting Thanos being much longer, and having heroes fighting Thanos personally being the vocal point of the final battle (with the other carnage being the backdrop) would have been nice.
Meme a minute bathos took away the gravitas lots of times. I sensed the Russo’s borrowing Gunn and Waititi’s playbook. They should have stuck to CW and IW in terms of tone.
As wholesome as that thought is, it would have felt jarring and out of place. The audience knows who Stan Lee is, he's made a cameo in almost every Marvel movie, and made one earlier in this very movie.
This would have been terrible, no offense. Lee can't pull off a scene like that, is clearly not the same person as young Cap, and would only serve to be self aware claptrap. It's the same shit as people saying he should have been the old man that told Loki off. He's fine for cameos but not shit with some gravitas.
Is Stan playing Steve or another Cap? Unless Stan comes to hand Sam the shield and Steve was implied to have stuck behind in time, it doesn’t really make sense.
Gamora kneeing Quill in his infinity stones wasn't needed.
Yeah that's a fair point, he's not really an actor, I just wish they'd done something to commemorate him, I didn't sit through all the credits, but did they do an end card or anything like spiderverse did?
They should have added a sense of urgency in that as soon as they contemplate time travel and construct the machine, Thanos, who doesn't die, somehow finds out and begins rebuilding his army to invade and fuck them, so they only have so much time left before Earth is invaded and he comes to kill them all. A big lingering threat the entire time.
Exactly. I’d also get rid of the A-Forced scene. They should have used their female heroes more throughout and respected their power levels. Okoye, Carol, Nat - all wasted.
This might have been a decent addition: Carol is capable of destroying the ship but those missiles/lasers are doing a number, keeping her at bay by blast her back when she gets close, etc. and then the helicarrier arrives start attacking it and give her a window to destroy it. Would make fuck all sense but it's something extra at least.
Does anyone else feel like Endgame could have been split into two movies? Everything in the first act felt so rushed.
The movie already had somewhat of a RotK kind of a feeling to me, at least around the ending battle when everyone gathered together to fight. And I didn't mind the comedic moments or pop culture references earlier on.
However, if I could change one thing, I'd like it to be this:
The way that line was read in the movie felt pretty underwhelming, and I wish it had been more of a "fuck yeah" moment.
More like the first act could has the kernel of a story that could have replaced the time heist altogether, i.e. the movie's about tracking down Thanos, beating him, then using the stones he still has to reverse it all.
Endgame is the second part of IW. Pacing definitely felt off. What proposed is better.
I thought the Lord of the Rings movies kinda sucked after the first one
It went from being a fantasy adventure to a vaguely fantasy flavored war movie. War movies always bore me out of my mind when they try to show the big picture. You want investment, you gotta show the ground level squad shit, not giant armies smooshing against each other.
To do top-down stuff you gotta get into intricate shit like politics and international relations, but the politics of LOTR is basically "evil is bad"
>gets rid of the based Hulk scene
cringe
>cringe
>the second-hand embarrassment we felt for Scott and the poor kids.
That was the point.
If we could have had Stan at all, he should've been TOAA or LT watching the battle like they wanted in IW.
How about this, we reveal that Hulk died in the snap, but Banner remained alive. It becomes personal for Banner, as he realizes that he only ever treated the Hulk like a cancer, when the Hulk wanted to be loved and respected. He can have some sad speech about how he and everyone else abused Hulk and only allowed him to come out when it was convenient in battle, and how the entire world hated him.
After Banner has snapped everyone back, during the final battle, Hulk reemerges and get's a rematch with Thanos and replaces some of Captain Marvel's fight scenes.Ultimately he sacrifices himself.
In the final scenes, New York erects a Hulk statue, honoring him.
If A-Forced can't go, have them rally around Nebula carrying the gauntlet rather than Marvel.
It'll be more poetic that way.
Sounds better than what they did with Hulk. They just ignored the set up and said "lol it happened off screen"
>serious opening about how everyone is down after their loss
>Scott just dealt with the fact that he lost five years and half the population is gone
>FUCK THAT LOOK AT HULK EAT HAHAHAHAHA DAB HHAHAHA LOOK AT THOR HE'S FAT!!!!!
They have no idea what to do with either of those characters
That's how the MCU rolls. At this point you just have to live with it. It annoys me too but if they can make multi-billion dollar movies consistently they must be doing something right.
IW didn't do that though. It had jokes but it buckled down and was serious for most of the movie. Money isn't a sign of quality
Endgame wasn’t about good beating evil. It was about home team vs away team. And in that regard it was epic
Have Thanos bring Ultron back
Higher body count on the heroes side
Give Hulk and Drax bigger moments in the finale
>She deserves to kill Thanos for all the pain he put her and Gamora through.
>Denying tony the kill
>Denying the character that jump started the MCU.
Really nigga?
Tony didn't need to snap.
Have you ever seen his Mallrats cameo? I think he can
2nd Act has Thanos' forces actively pursuing the Avengers throughout time.
pretty good, I would add
>Cap gets a new asgard-scale-suit including wings on the helmet
