It’s been 2 years Yea Forums. Has your opinion on the finale and Ashi changed or has it remained the same?
Samurai Jack
I mean, killing Aku should've poofed her before returning to Jack's time but I get it. Artist licence.
Not really, no. It still misses the biggest point of writing in that it gives Jack what he wants over what he needs.
The first few episodes hammer home that Jack needs to forgive himself for his failures in the past in order to save the future. The last episode undoes all that for no real reason.
Honestly, the only problem I still take issue with is the lack of a proper resolve with The Guardian and his time portal. What was that projection supposed to represent? Was that some alternate universe?
It’s not the ending I wanted but at least Jack got closure. Personally I wanted him to give up his desire to return to the past and instead fight to save the future. It just feels so weird having every character jack met erased
I’m certain that’s what happens in some comic that dates pre-S5 conception. He becomes this old leader of a rebellion against Aku and moved on from wanting to return to the past. His whole resolve was that while the past has happened, the future is yet to be written; something along those lines.
2 years and im still mad about no gaurdian
Sounds better than the ending we got. Mixing that and the daughters' existence would've been cooler than returning to the past.
I want to fondle Ashi.
I’ve come to terms with it for the most part, just happy that the show finally got an ending, even if it was rushed.
Besides, I’m still working on my own story with a better ending.
>It’s been 2 years Yea Forums.
...huh?
>my own story with a better ending
I’m curious.
>Season 5 aired in 2017
>It’s now 2019
Yes
I started an AU sometime after the finale, and while I’ve taken some huge breaks in between updates, I’m still working on it and intend to see it through.
Will it be in comic format?
In my dreams, maybe. No, it’s just a fanfic, the first I’ve ever written in fact.
I did do a few character sheets for it a while back though. Maybe some day I’ll illustrate some scenes or commission someone to do it for me.
I've been thinking of rewatching to see if it still is as poorly done as when I first saw it. I'm lazy as fuck so I'm not sure when I'll get around to that.
I still seethe. People always make the Gurren Lagann comparison and it's hard not to. They did something similar and did it correctly. There are many other ways it could have ended but this is what they chose.
has not changed.
ashi was fine but this season needed like 5 more episode to not feel ultra rushed.
also, change the i suddenly have aku powers!
She took away took much plot from season 5 which was meant to wrap up samurai jack.
It wouldn’t be a rushed mess if half the season didnt focus on ashi a brand new character.
I would have made it so once Aku was defeated (in the future of course, fuck going to the past), that would negate Jack’s immortality curse. He’d suddenly age rapidly and kick the bucket.
Ashi’s role would remain as more of a student as opposed to a love interest. With Jack gone, she could be the last one standing to keep his legacy alive with the support of all of Jack’s companions he’s made through the years.
Keep the episode focus after Jack finds his salvation primarily on targeting Aku. No time to waste.
Nope, i’m still right.
