Look at the size of his fucking head!

Frank Millar wants young people to join the armed forces instead of protesting.

But he also holds superman as the embodiment of government stoogery and how Clark's enlistment is the beginning of his surrender to government power?

He can still be decent if he takes his time. He did Dark Knight: The Last Crusade, and that was solid.

Miller said after he finished The Dark Knight Returns that he wanted to write a Superman story next. I wonder if this has anything to do with his old idea.

>Despite rumors to the contrary, author Miller says he does not dislike the Man of Steel.

>"Superman is the first superhero I fell in love with when I was 5 years old," he said. "I like Superman. Batman doesn't like Superman."

>Miller describes his introduction to Superman as watching the original cartoons created during the World War II era.

>"They were the Superman cartoons from the brothers Fleischer. They produced reels shown before the movies from the war dept. They were the most beautiful cartoons you'll ever find in your life. Especially those set in the Asian theater" of operations, said Miller.

That’s a sweet moment, but how does she know when to put up the sign? Has she just been holding the sign up for like 20 minutes and hopes he sees it?

That's all. Hope you enjoyed Clark's book.

It’s always been like that

lel

>First you talk to them...then you flatten them
Based Pa Kent

The fuck is this

Wont be Frank Miller without having some rape related story in it.

The writing is serviceable for the most part but every once and awhile a character will just straight-up start talking like a robot and it's really fucking jarring.

Attached: 1508829633148.jpg (215x204, 6K)

better than I expected. Very nice.

I mean sometimes it’s a girl being brainwashed by a teacher robot to teach Clark morality or something

Navyfag here. Great Lakes doesn't look nearly that clean and uncluttered.

So when can we expect an outrage?

>a million stars
>blue sky and daylight

>Go through Krypton's destruction
I'm tired of it. Especially when Origins did it so well in a single page

>Dad's new rocket
>She puts him in
Who's narrating if not Superman?

It would have been nice if there was a blue aura around Jor El in that second last panel

Maybe my taste has been poisoned due to the last 2 years of comic book writing, but this was actually pretty good

Why would he care how hot it is?

already happened on twiter

The dialogue is weird but i love it

Does DC ever learn? Why they keep doing this?

Alex Sinclair is such a dated, unimaginative colorist. Limited, unnatural and artificial palate.

>I like Superman. Batman doesn't like Superman

Martha's awfully calm for someone seeing their husband just bring hie some strange baby. Also the

Doomed Planet
Desperate scientists
Last Hope
Kindly Couple

page should be made a standard for the Supes origin.

They been fucking?

what the fuck is going on with this art?
guy cant draw below the belt at all and that shading is just awful shit

So that was pretty boring.

hm the fat friend kinda works for Supes.

I think that's supposed to be his memory of it, not "narration".

Good shit.

>Frank Miller writing Superman
He said in interview that he hates Superman for the same reason he disliked Matrix, because it's not a regular guy

I'm sorry but are those proportions off or am I seeing things?

Attached: SupermanYearOne.png (607x845, 810K)

>he just found out
Fuck off casual. You should have gotten that faggotry off your chest months ago

Jawline of a late teen, young man, but the head-body ratio is that of a 10 year old.

Then leave

And the rest...
Really beautiful sequence

That was cute and fun

Gosh the art is impossible to look at, Romita somehow got worse.
Story is decent, never been a big fan of Miller's Superman.

It is the standard. This isn't earth 2

Holy fucking wholesome batman

>issue 1: Clark joins the Navy
>Issue 2: Clark joins the army
>Issue 3: Clark joins the airforce

I can see it

that's kind of hot

Thank you frank

Heat vision

It was good it evens seems that Miller is not so crazy anymore

This was great but according to bleedingcool.com 2 issue review Clark's costume was made by Lana. I guess they got the 2 red heads mixed up.

It's called empathy and parental instincts user, don't pretend to be a robot.

Why is the oatmeal green?

yo what the fuck
I thought Superman had to get years of yellow sun radiation to get his powers?
This kinda fucks with the idea that Clark grew up as some average American.

So TDKR isn't a Frank Miller story?

he grew up better than the average American as he was raised to stand up for truth, justice, and the american dream of anybody being able to lead a happy and succesful life no matter where they came from
he's not john everyman he's moses in the rushes, who cares too much about people to do nothing when he has the power to prevent cruelty and torment.

I don't like that.

The "big head" comment is unintentionally hilarious.

So far new 52 origin story is still the best one then.

One thing that bothers me is that you don't have a clear year that the story is set (lana does have a digicam tho)

Did Miller imply that Pete Ross is gay?

Its what endures humans to their offspring, and puppies for similar reasons.

That's post-crisis Superman. Pre-crisis Superman started out as a superbaby and had adventures with the Legion of Super-Heroes as Superboy.

>you don't have a clear year that the story is set
just like DRK, first volume had Peagan as president, third one had Trump.

I did read Spy Family some days ago and the super kid aspect there was so much better than this superkid that Miller made. Guess he is so old now that he can't write children like characters anymore.

Attached: SPY X FAMILY c3 0023 - b23.png b23.png (1080x1696, 1.31M)

The hell is this, are we in Maine?

Oh alright. I dont usually read DC comics, and I got my Superman lore from a youtuber.

You know it would be a fun idea, the Justice League forms out of Clark's years abroad and the young friendships he formed with others that also wanted to use their abilities to do good.

Clark hanging out with autists is retarded. I'd say it's out of character, but this is an alternate continuity, so it doesn't matter.

Are they implying that Pete Ross is a fag in this continuity?

Based Markham

Surprisingly wholesome. Should've had a different title though, it obviously chronicles more than a year.

This...is a bit more than a Year One and I feel cheated.

did you expect the whole comicbook to be about baby Clark?

Good ol' Miller at it again

What kind of retard talks about this on the bus?

the best DC book I've read the whole year

The whole "fighting bullies" angle is so clichéd. It reads like every fucking generic TV show about teenagers ever.

Farming communities don't have fences. Minor gripe, I know, but still.

lol

Unless you got a sauce on that, there's plenty of interviews where he says otherwise

ffs this is both retarded as sad as fuck

What do you mean user? As a first time reader of Superman, I assume Generic OC not Doomsday killed Krypton? Is something the matter with this completely different retelling of established lore user? Is everything okay? Why dont you check out Namoi. It's a book that's not like other gir- I mean superheros.

I like the derpy look on Super baby

Are you confusing Miller with Moore? Because Miller has never written a rape scene and has only written attempted rape scenes like once or twice counting this.

Mixed in with some green veggie probably, collard green or something

No it's not "the standard". It's WAY too much of a "scene for people who've read a million comics". 90% of people wouldn't even fully understand that scene.

Jesus Christ those faces

>He said in interview that he hates Superman

Miller has said that he thinks the entire idea of being a superhero is "idiotic". But he's also said that Superman is the best superhero there is and that Batman is "a terrorist".

Pro-tip: Good writers don't need to like, agree with, or relate to the characters they write. I know this is a new concept to you since you're used to decades of every writer in the industry writing nothing but fan fiction and self-inserts, but that's also the entire reason why modern comics are such shit.

John Romita Jr.'s weakness was always drawing kids. Even in his heyday of the 80s and 90s when his art was GREAT he still couldn't draw kids for shit.

>Doc Savage
What era is this again

>Wacky Tobaccy
I haven't heard anyone calling it that since the Bush Administration

Uhm what?

Attached: i447jewdva621.png (1440x1080, 3.52M)

Fuck

stop believing memes, you subhuman literal redditor

He got his powers gradually in this, too.

Post-Crisis Superman got his powers exactly like in this story as well. Try reading the comics instead of a wikipedia page.

It probably WILL be a Year One. But it'll be SUPERMAN Year One and not CLARK KENT Year One. It's just gonna take a while until we get to the Superman part.

That's a low standard.

This was "just OK". But it seems like it has the potential to improve in the next 2 issues.

Thanks, OP.

Very nice rendition of Superman, thanks OP!

>an origin story telling the origin story?

this isnt drawn by romita, that i'm 100% sure. Guy got worse with age. But I dunno if Miller could. Looks possible, but not sure.

>calls him big guy
>then the fire rises

what is that dialogue? who speaks like that?

The constant switching between first and thrid person narration is really annoying

Attached: a53469e3.png (129x200, 35K)

Frank Miller making Superman into a military recruiting vehicle. What. the. fuck.

>There's point in holding an eagle down, Martha.

Shucks, Clark.

Attached: 1407290994389.png (370x164, 3K)

Wholesome asf

isnt Otis the weird fat guy employed by the Joker to kidnap kids in the Dark Knight? Or am I mistaken?

Why do editors let Romita get away with this SHIT? At no point in a portfolio would this be allowed.

Holy shit, this Pa is BASED.

As far as Black Lbael goes, it was much better than, say, LKoE.
As far as Superman origins, I prefer Earth One definitely.

God the art is so fucking weird. The proportions don't work.

Prefer Birthright, but I get it. The Kent’s lowkey mindcontrol in this kinda left a bad taste in my mouth, but beyond that it was pretty sweet.

Your world is dying and only have one chance to save your only child, what face are they supposed to show?

>F-35 fighter
Wait
Wasn't this supposed to be taking place in the past?

Let's assume that this story takes place after Roshard defeated Doc Manhattan and the metaverse's timeline was restored to how it should be.

"Him" is a robot user, dont understand the real feels work

No, he's Luthor's fat and wacky henchman from Superman 1977

Ok, this is adorable

What gave you that idea?

Super-eyes mate

Well thats because Bleedingcool's writers are retarded.

Is it just me, or does Supes look oddly asian?

Pa Kent is the best character

This is by far the worst combination of writer & artist. One can't prop up the other. They both suck.

I wonder how much of Clark in the military are we going to see.

Really not sure how I feel about this take on the crest. Also not big on is being more fuchsia than red.

Attached: Year One Sm.png (1100x800, 77K)

this hasn't been a good year for DC but i'll take what i can get ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes

That has always been the greatest power of Superman, bringing together people who would never be together

>BY THE POWERS OF NAUGHTINESS I COMMAND

For some time no writer expressed how fragile most people are for Clark, if for the Hulk they are fragile as glass, for Superman they are fragile like jellys wrapped in plastic bags

Clark should find new friends these guys are the biggest bitches

Miller showed what many bullies do when they go from classic bullying to major leagues, it is something that people should know and see instead of looking the other way because they are afraid to face reality

As someone who usually likes JRJR, this inking isn't doing any favours to his work.
He's best when the lines are thick and wobbly, not this clear digital stuff.

Good thing Frank remembered that Supes comes from a family of scientists and he himself is a genius

>Called him a spic and punched his face in

Based.

Chad Kent

can an american explain to me how a group of children has teachers so scared that they won't just fucking kick them out?

Influential parents.

>it's a pass for me
That's what catches my attention, I want to see this train wreck.

>He destroyed that pussy

Way to go, son.

the power of love obviously

>Jon Kent feels something probe inside his skull.
>This is not a hostile.
>Let him think this is all his idea.

This would be my first time hearing paternal instinct or love described like that. It maybe wasn't the intention of the writer but I also thought they'd given him some sort of telepathic or empathic abilities.

Pretty nice. I didn't expect too much from it, but it ended up being good.

based retard

Reddit says this is complete garbage, so does that mean we like it?

This is what "Black Label" is producing? Whew.

A world made out of Cardboard.

A world where Superman is real so cape comics never existed.

YVAN EHT NIOJ

She is a smart girl who pays attention to details.

And she is in love.

Is good, which is strange considering how much Miller hates Superman

this. shit like this happens in small towns all across america, and across the world. a group of young guys out to cause trouble can quickly turn into a gang rape or a lynch mob, and it so often just gets written off as boyhood mischief. even if there are permanent consequences.

The best thing about this Black Label shit is that it's causing DC to lose what little money it has left even faster

How all you life user

For a long time the comics were the escape life of the reality of their readers, but they have also served as disseminators of truths that for a long time people preferred to ignore

these are bizarre times when Frank Miller is not the worst thing that can happen to superman anymore, pretty decent superman story though i kinda wish it wasn't an origin story, I feel i have been seeing supes origin way too often in the last couple of years.

What did you think you were reading? A children's story?

This isn't a comic sold in toy aisles at Walmart like King's bullshit.

Scarier than Brightburn

thought it was weird too, but i guess we can assume he isn't as invulnerable yet as he will be. same way he gets stronger, smarter, faster, maybe he also gets tougher. at this age he might even be able to get burned, or at least be weak enough to feel pain.

Hey, this Superman is going to rape Wonder Woman in the future. Why are you surprised? This is classic Frank Miller.

that's not the worst thing. it's a mystery that will almost certainly be solved later, for new readers its just something to wonder about until its revealed. lots of good stories start out with a scene that doesn't really make sense until the full context is given.

This takes place in DKR universe right? It has a weird history where 00s technologies (All Star Batman and Robin) and the Cold War ended (Spawn/Batman) but Reagan becomes President after all that.

Even more insane would be counting Holy Terror as a Batman book because that means W and Obama were Presidents before Reagan.

This makes Superman reading Doc Savage when he was a kid the least unbelievable thing in the DKR universe.

HW Bush or W Bush?

American parents refuse to believe ANYTHING their kids are accused of and will cause a shit fit when it happens. Also teens can get pretty brazen and slash tires/key cars without getting caught.

What's bad about it.

>muh anatomy
We'll skip you saying this so I can call you retarded if you think that matters.

>Frank Miller
thought he hated superman

Yeah, ironically in today's world where there's been so much backlash against bullying, people overlook how easily it can lead to things like this if people keep getting away with it.

>how much Miller hates Superman
>the character is the writer, always
What fucked up your generation to believe this, was it shitty schooling

i belive he made pa and ma kent talk like rednecks

Explain how they don't work. You seem to think this is trying to appear realistic.

>Jonathan's face
Nice nod to Byrne there.

He doesn't though. You're just incapable of reading. Superman is a victim in TDKR and TDKSA. That doesn't mean miller hates him.

Wait what?

My dad said the exact same thing. He also said the only people that expect a "fair fight" are trained fighters and pussies.

Not him but some of us remember JRJR's art from the 1980s when his characters generally had human proportions. It wasn't until the 2000s that two things happened: his eyesight started giving out on him and the muppet proportions started appearing in his work. Most comic book artists don't just suddenly begin to draw bobbleheads after 20+ years following proportion. If he's going blind or his hands aren't obeying him, he should retire. The growing number of background assets he's tracing off 3D renders in this isn't helping.
This is *better* than his work on Kick-Ass but like others have said no one would dare submit this kind of art in portfolio to the big 2 and expect a contract.

>some American parents
You discount the ones who never believe their kid simply to suit your worldview.

I bet you think it's only white parents if pressed.

Then you need to stop listening to casuals when they offer opinions and views.

>I'll try to act older/more read than you
I own more Romita than you've read kid fuck off. Proportions and anatomy don't matter.

W

>others have said no one would dare submit this kind of art in portfolio to the big 2 and expect a contract.
Also, continuing, your own post isn't "others". And there is vastly worse art that looks more proportional and has more "realistic" anatomy like Janin.

You don't know a fucking thing about comics if you think anatomy and proportion matter.

Wonder Woman rapes Superman if anything retard.

Why do you faggots talk about TDKSA and yet don't actually know a thing about it?

Striking while the iron is hot after Batman Year One.

I'm 51. I have his entire run on X-Men, I remember his work in the Marvel Try-Out Book and this isn't a pissing match. He's an excellent layout person but his best days as an artist are behind him.
> Proportions and anatomy don't matter
When your work's clean, you can be Humberto Ramos. John's work always looked best when someone like Leialoha was fixing it. Dan Green at least removed that shitty hatching Romita's so fond of.

There's nothing fair about natural differences in size or in groups fighting single people. If you find yourself fighting a larger person or group you go low and find weak spots.

"Fairness" is never preached or practiced by someone who would threaten someone else's safety.

my dad always said "don't hit first, always hit back". don't be the one to escalate things to violence if it can be solved with words, but don't be afraid of a fight if it happens. couldn't always keep to it but it's a good ideal i think.

>some of us remember
Immediately attempts to turn it into a pissing match faggot.

Beyond that him being better back in the day has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with his art now. This work is far better than the lifeless shit people like janin of deodato pump out.

lasts time i saw it was on the justice league cartoon it with the whole 'i live on a world made out of cardboard" speech

Superman raped Wonder Woman, user, if you go by what she says here. She's just using her body and sex as a mean to get his spirits up. Because apparently that's all she can offer.
Then there's that moment between them in 'All-Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder' where Superman throws her across the room, splitting her lip, and apparently that physical abuse leaves her panties wet because she enjoys being manhandled and put in her place.

Not to mention that Miller admitted the rape, part, even if he said it as something positive.

Attached: Batman - The Dark Knight Strikes Again-107.jpg (1988x3056, 1.28M)

Then he's probably been arrested or never been in a fight. The party that retaliates always gets caught.

can't draw women's faces, or hair, and the rest of it ...

gonna say nope

but, yes, thanks for the storytime, op

>You discount the ones who never believe their kid simply to suit your worldview.
>I bet you think it's only white parents if pressed.

Sure I've never ever been screamed at by parents of kids I've caught shoplifting.

Go fuck yourself with a straight razor.

Yeah, because "rape" is a mature material.

Yeah, Miller's thing has always been prostitutes, not rape.

rednecks? a "passel" of rubharb?

nope, they're fucking hillbillies - except they've got a nice house and people working for them

they're the fucking *beverly* hillbillies here ...

...this isn't a train wreck, it's a clown car

is not rape if she cums

>and has more "realistic" anatomy like Janin
>lifeless shit people like janin of deodato
If the best thing you can say is that it's better than DAZ Studio renders, reconsider your position. Those two are barely a step above Greg Land.
Listen, I don't mind nonrealistic proportions WHEN IT SERVES THE MATERIAL. I unironically love Ramos and he's the poster boy for comically large boots and chunky proportions. But he's never lazy technically in his art.

Clark was a normy, he'd never hang out with weirdo degenerates like this

It is.

Tell me how this does a disservice to the page.

You not liking it doesn't matter. Explain to me why it detracts from the story. His head is very clearly shaped different than even the other characters. Might it be to express that he's an outsider?

hydrocephalus kryptonius

So this takes place in the DKR universe right?

Are you implying it's childish?

Or are you attempting to steal some other anons much better stated point about the penis in Batman damned being juvenile rather than mature?

This "rape" (which didn't happen) isn't just some ransoms addition it's a clear turning point.

>Superman raped Wonder Woman
>She's just using her body and sex as a mean to get his spirits up.
So he didn't rape her.

There is literally no way to spin this as a rape.

why are the teachers scared of these jabroni bullies? A bit of harmless egging never hurt anyone! The goth kid who tried to stab Clark with a pen is a true danger to the school.

Yes.

what do you mean the person who retaliates gets caught? where i'm from what matters is who threw the first punch, that's literally what a cop will ask. not who was saying shit, but who actually started the fight, and who was defending themselves.

and my dad was actually a bouncer for a few years in a really rough city, and has been in several fights. never been arrested. now he works in an office and loves it.

It's not about that moment shown in page, but what she talks about what happened between them in the past. Dumb, dumb.

Jeremy the Goth is a future villain isn't he?

>can't draw women's faces, or hair, and the rest of it ...
When he took over X-Men from Paul Smith he did a serviceable job of following Smith's lead in avoiding sameface between the female characters e.g. Rogue having a square face and reduced jawline. But by the time he left the book, most of the female characters were variants of Mary Jane Watson: same lips, same pointy nose, same cheekbones and jawline.
As far as hair is concerned it's a symptom of his complete inability to care about learning shading. To him that's always been a problem for the inker to handle except now he inks his own work. That's inexcusable from a pro artist. Rob Liefeld puts more work into his shading and he only knows two textures: chrome and distressed naugahyde.
John's depended his entire career on his father's name and competent inkers to clean up after him. It's bitterly ironic that his father spent so much time doing uncredited cleanups on other artists' boards yet his own son's so fucking sloppy.

>Where I'm from
Doesn't matter if you're from America faggot. I America you don't just get off on battery cause the other party tossed a punch. Both parties are to blame. And ones own verbal excuse after the fact isn't taken as truth.

>where is the man who's dick I wanted
She's literally word for word providing contextual evidence for why it is not rape.

>why are the teachers scared of these jabroni bullies?
Weak writing. A single line of exposition indicating their parents control Smallville would have sufficed but Miller figured "eh, people will make something up in their heads to explain it."
>he'd never hang out with weirdo degenerates like this
He also never enlisted in mainline continuities either (ignoring that golden age story where his superpowers made him accidentally 4-F). Give Miller artistic license here. At least he didn't make Clark a vegan with the ability to detect auras.

No, he's Luthor's henchman. Recently used in "Supergirl" as Mercy's brother and awesome mook all around.

She's talking about him raping her in the past. and thus being her "man", and wondering where that man went. That prompts him to hold her neck, dominating her, and dicking her until tons of innocents die as a result of their love making.

And Miller admitted the rape part.

No, I'm implying they put it on things to make it appear "mature" when in reality it's nothing but a cheap attempt to bring attention.

Mature martial is actually discussing the victim feelings on what happened to them which never happened in this kind of comics.

goddamn that was bad

thanks op

The opposite of childish isn't mature, it's adult.
It's clearly adult. It's not mature.

>ooo god yeah I need a he man to fuck me, come on he man fuck me
>*he man fucks her*
>user says it's rape
What?

>

Oh so like I said you were trying to ape another anons point. The difference between the batpenis and King having Superman imagine Lois' death and this is that this very clearly had an effect on the character. It added to the story and the shock effects the characters. The batpenis and superman's deranged imagination don't add anything to their individual stories.

>no childhood Luthor
I'm good either way
>Pete Ross once again cucked on secret identity
This irritates me because it was only done by Byrne to make Clark's relationship with Lana bittersweet. There's literally no other reason for Pete to exist in the story and he's usually portrayed as some sad sack as a shitty consolation prize.

Childish and juvenile mean the same thing dumbass and I used both. This isn't a healthy vs. healthful situation. Nice try though.

user you need to define rape for me because rough/forceful sex isn't rape. This is a topic on children and virgins have trouble with, and no I'm not calling you a child or virgin but it's odd you find this to be rape.

Consent is what matters and her consent is clear.

well if what you're talking about is beating a man half to death after he slaps you, then i guess you're right. but if a man attacks you with intent to do serious harm, and you hit him back to prevent his attack, you're legally not at fault.

no judge in a civilized society will ask the question "Why did you physically harm this man?" and not take the answer "Because he had just physically harmed me and was about to do it again." as a valid reason. might depend on the state i guess, but self-defense is considered an acceptable legal defense in a lot of countries

now if you kill him that's a manslaughter charge at best, but if you just knock him out or scare him off he can't do shit if he started it. which is why my dad also taught me to grab someone by the shirt before punching them in the face. if you hit them hard enough for them to lose balance (not difficult) and they smash their head on floor and it kills them, you're fucked, so hold on tight.

Can you guys read?
>Where is the hero who threw me to the ground and took me as his rightful prize?
This right here? Is referencing a past rape. Not what actually is happening in that moment. Miller himself admitted that it was so, because some dumb shit about their relationship all being about power or something.

This is exceptionally mild bullying by today's standards.

Yeah, it's pretty great.

So Supes is superior to the Flash in this regard? Because Flash also swiftly forgets the spead-read stuff.

>Bus riding like a thermos
Poor Clark...

I think Miller wanted to avoid having Markham upload edited videos to YouTube.

Miller's books have a weird sliding timescale in which Reagan rules in the future

That's really bad considering it is Miller (i thought he said he didn't wanted to write Supes, it kind of shows).
I'll take this over Bendis everyday though. So yeah, i'm glad this stuff still gets to be published even if it is getting rarer.

...and rape, well I can't say I wasn't expecting it. Its Frank Miller after all.

Thank you, I enjoyed it. I hade a bad day, and this was a very happy story.

oh god i nearly spat my drink
fucking hell why did you make me remember

Frank said he hated him in interviews and said he loved him in others. He doesn’t give a shit

He was also never a vegan until Mark Waid

Superman is perfect and flawless and the only reason why nobody sucks his dick is because the pressure of the cum would blown a hole in their heads.

Redditors are pre-programmed to hate Miller, thinking he is conservative and hates women.
I liked the story, honestly, I'm sitting here jealous of Clark.

In the Golden Age, he had super-powers right away. When they came up with the "yellow sun" angle, he just had to be under the influence of the Sun -- he wasn't a solar battery that could run down. These days he's almost like Birdman; "I've been...locked in this closet...for..too long! Strength...fading..."

That's a classic Romita Kid head.

Pretty solid, but I still hate Romita's art. If I had any real critique for this issue is it would be the cliche school shit should've been reduced by half so there could be more Clark's military experience shown earlier.

Also, why did they have this be in the oversized physical format? The art doesn't deserve it.

Hows often do people use the "Not in Kansas anymore" joke in real life?

this was oversize? christ why

Holy god JRJR is a fucking terrible artist now. He has used up all of his good will from the old days, fuck him.

Never heard of "Self-Defense" huh? I don't gotta take a beating for anybody.

This brings back memories. Bad ones.
Kudos, Frank.

The art in AvX was on average better than here. And I'm counting his wonky eyes there.

I read Doc Savage as a kid. My Gram had a few of the paperbacks -- after reading them I hunted down all I could find -- books, comics, B&W magazines, a couple of hardcovers, that awful movie. Also, Clark "Doc" Savage Jr. and Clark "Superman" Kent have multiple connections.

HOLY SHIT MILLER IS BASED AF!

Origins sucked ass

DC editorial loves Sinclair so get used to that dated style for years to come

>referencing a past rape

No it isn't you mong.

Fucking Millenials

John Romita Jr needs to hit up some life drawing classes again, his figure work is unnatural and all of his people have bobble heads

You need to shut up about things you don't understand.

It is, according to everyone who reads it and Miller himself.

he was never crazy, the media just spent decades unfairly smearing him because they didn't like Holy Terror and DKSA

don't there need to be fences so cattle don't wander in to the street or in to other people's property?

CLARK IS A VEGAN NOW?!?!?!??!

Oh ya sure join the Navy where they have all sorts of medical tests before you even start training
HOW DID MILLER NOT FUCKING THINK OF THIS?
I-I guess the occasional shit show is fun to watch

You think the navy would turn down a candidate that's super strong, never gets sick, and bulletproof?

my town literally had a bully student murder a teacher for trying, so...

that whole sequence leading to the rocket opening on earth seemed to be mostly the colorist's artwork

>source: my ass

not him but ive never seen a picket or wooden fence in my farm town back home. barbed and chicken wire, wood posts etc

I feel like this needs a further note, HIS Batman doesn't like Superman. And they still manage to be off and on friends in the DK series. They patched things up pretty well in DK3.

So ITT there's either one very noisy retard or millerfags are the same as all other fags and can't take criticism at all. God forbid something be wrong with "muh x"
Fine by me you have shit opinions but you're not convincing anyone by expressing yourselves like children and spouting buzzwords like "oldfag", "reddit" and "conservative".

You and your Fandom can go fuck yourselves somewhere else.
sincerely, Yea Forums

Great, whatever. Enlighten me in what way this attempted rape advances character, the story, the message or the themes.
Shock value doesn't count, because that would be extremely juvenile.

have you read The Pro by Ennis and Conner? His version of Superman gets a bj'er and the money shot shoots up into the sky and blows off the wing of a passenger jet

Clark is justifying to himself so he can take action, dumbass.

What are you taking about? If you don't have fences on farms, stock wanders off. Holy Christ.

>ive never seen a picket or wooden fence in my farm town back home
Where you at? We have 'em here.

You aren't Yea Forums. Git.

Is this the one of the orgy

This was good, but Miller seems to be at the age where he's forgotten how kids behave irl.

Because she wasn't raped, get it?

wasn't this the original plot of what became Hancock? iirc it was based on a screenplay called "Tonight, He Comes" and it was focused on a Superman type hero who couldn't have sex because his cum was like a bullet. so then he kills a woman by accident? or becomes like a sex-serial killer of something.

I think there was also supposed to be a nod to this in Hancock, like he's getting a bj and pulls the chick off at the last second, so his cum shoots up and dents the roof of his trailer. i could be wrong.

it made the bullies irredeemable so you don't feel bad when super power Clark kicks their ass-at least that seems to be Miller's intent.

The only problem would be to take his blood.

She refers to herself as his rightful prize. He's not saying that, she is. Wonder Woman comes from a warrior culture, which Miller really plays up in that story, just romancing her isn't going to work. You have to fight for, and earn that pussy. I always figured they were having some sort of disagreement, that turned into an actual fight, that turned into passionate sex. It's a trope that's been done a million times in a million different ways.

Supes is superior to Flash in every regard, except for jobbing to Catwoman

how do yalls keep track of cattle and livestock when they roam on to other people's property?

Miller said it was rape, but in his own fucked up manner. Either way, his Superman is a rapist.

Sauce on where he said that?

You need to prove that shit.

I just never got the impression that line implied rape, even if that was MIller's intent. To me it was some dime store pulp novel Rhett Butler and Scarlet O'Hara romance shit.

What the fuck

How is that rape?

Catwoman taking out 3 Flashes with single blows... this grrl power shit is getting a bit ridiculous.

Death of the author. he wrote the words and interprets them as rape, but he didn't say rape, so we don't have to interpret them that way.

What's the problem with Superman being a rapist? Wonder Woman seems to be fine with the result ending.

there has to be an explanation for this, right? catwoman isn't even a fighter primarily, she should be struggling to take out anyone above her level even 1 on 1. did she take some temporary speed force pills or something?

Nope it's just ham fisted girl power, like Harley Quinn taking Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman at the same time in Heroes In Crisis.

King. King happened.

Poison Ivy got a huge power up to take over the world, ignoring everyone else's power bu w/e
Catwoman got a huge power up to beat three speedsters despite being inferior to Batman on his worst day
Much like Harley getting the drop on the fucking Trinity in HiC, King just hates men and loves shit characters. Probably because even his dad knew to leave his ass as a kid.

i have no problem with it, but those words don't spell out rape any more than "stole my Amazon heart" spells out that he literally took her heart from her chest. "threw me to the ground took me as his rightful prize" could easily mean something consensual but passionate and dominant. it could mean rape, but it doesn't have to. and even if miller says it does, it doesn't have to because that isn't what he wrote.

>did she take some temporary speed force pills or something?
if that page were from Injustice that;s pretty much exactly what it would be, but this is just Tom King being a hack.

Like that page of Alfred beating the shit out of Superman, which is one of the highlights of the series. Along with Lobo being given a GL ring.

so was there an in-fiction reason for the power up? or did she just suddenly get stronger for no reason?

Your response seems like you have a problem with the idea of it being rape. Again, the question stands.

>Like that page of Alfred beating the shit out of Superman
god damn that awesome. when Alfred fucks you up like that, you know you're in the wrong.

>Doc Savage

Based

being a woman is her only reason

Last Crusade was good

No. It's King. He thrives on the retarded.

in Superman:Birthright he can see the soul/auras of animals or some shit. I guess the auras of plants are nothing too impresive bc he ate vegetables and fruits.

Your dad sounds like a pussy.

...

honestly i don't, i'm not precious about Superman in any way. i think this is just me being pedantic, i don't like it when people claim things as fact in cases when it has been deliberately left vague or euphemistic. and i fully subscribe to the death of the author theory, so even if miller says "when i wrote these words, i meant rape", my opinion is we don't have to take that as fact. we only have to consider what he wrote, not what he said about it afterwards.

there's more than enough room here to interpret this as something other than rape. if you want to think its rape and talk about the time supes raped wonder woman then go for it, i won't argue that isn't what happened. i just don't like the whole "no this is definitely what this means, if you disagree then you're wrong, even the writer confirmed it" attitude.

This isn’t canon dipshit

yeah that annoyed me about Injustice. they were too lazy to fully explore the premise of Superman turning evil without powering everyone else up to make it a fair fight. the fact that they even have one character that's basically unbeatable without convenient help is a pretty big flaw in their universe in my opinion.

wow then this is pretty stupid. i looked at that page expecting someone to come back with "oh that obviously doesn't count because the speed force wasn't working" or something. but no i guess she can just sometimes beat up not one but three speedsters, single-handedly, in the space of one page. it reads like crappy fan fiction.

>Miller seems to be at the age where he's forgotten how kids behave irl.
I'm fifty and people over 35 shouldn't attempt to write kids never mind 90somethings like Miller. Look at Waid for christ's sake. Also his dialect for midwesterners shows the old duffer has never once left New York in his life. When John Byrne can be less condescending you done fucked up.

>it reads like crappy fan fiction.
Welcome to Tom King, enjoy your stay.

>No. It's King. He thrives on the retarded.
If he'd done this in the Silver Age no one would bat an eye. Ever since Identity Crisis comic book writers have casually had pet characters WITH NO SUPERPOWERS fuck up Flashes who are literally walking laws of physics.

You're going to have to educate me, outside of Deathstroke I'm drawing a blank.

y'know something tells me i won't

they're sort of an easy target if you don't think about it too hard. they're theoretically as vulnerable to damage as a normal human, theoretically no stronger than a normal human, they don't shoot lasers or anything like that. they're just fast. you can kind of, sort of see how a normal person could take one out, maybe. if you were willing to ignore everything that makes speedsters so powerful.

Isn't that ENOUGH? And in the Silver Age mooks like Boomerang fucking Barry up.
>if you were willing to ignore everything that makes speedsters so powerful.
That's kind of my point. We're long past banana peel traps here. Also, it bears remembering that neither Barry nor Wally are retards and they've fought much cleverer unpowered individuals and would be really unlikely to let their guards down.

It´s the usual "they are mind control so they are not at their full power" or at least that's what I remember what it was, maybe people just made it up to justify it.

>Isn't that ENOUGH?
So you have one example not in the Silver Age, making this still retarded. That's all you had to say user.

The in-universe explanation was "Ivy couldn't control the Flashes effectively".

That still doesn't make sense, Batman is right there doing fuck all because King is 99% internalised misandry and 1% flatulence.

Deathstroke always had superpowers

Waid got into the habit of giving his characters the same voice. it's especially noticeable in Champions.

oh ok, at least there's something. i mean it's still stupid, but at least its not downright retarded. i guess you can see that logic, like the speedsters can only move as fast as their minds can process. their minds can process things incredibly quickly, but Ivy's can't so she's got them stuck on a relatively low speed. i don't know if they actually say that but you can make excuses like this if they're not at their full power for any reason.

>boning

lel

That was an excuse, not a reason. The way that Ivy works is that she told them what she wants and they achieve it, she's not sitting there with a fucking PS4 controller wondering where the Speedforce button is. They still know about the Speedforce so they would still use it.

Of course the mind control was through food which their metabolism would burn through in an instant but King is a hack.

Those first two panels have Millar written all over them; whatever else, the man loves his eyes. This is most Millar (good) page in the book.

well never mind then i guess. who would look at a page like this and think "yeah, this is in keeping with the rules of this world we've built. this isn't going to come off as jarring and stupid to anyone with a passing knowledge of who these characters are".

This narration is the cheddar I usually love. I'm sorry, Yea Forums.

I hope King dies a lonely miserable death. Which is probably quite likely considering his myriad of mental issues.

Does anyone have the Harley Quinn triple page from HiC, when they're in the warehouse? I think this guy needs to see it.

This narration makes me want to give them all hugs.

He’s best friends with Jimmy Olsen and Bruce Wayne, Clark loves autists.

that's clearly not an f-35

I mean, he made fun of SJWs in his work as well. Like those useless cosplayer chicks.

This first panel seems very exploitable.

You do remember how Miller Superman ends up right?

Why do you lie? They were being (imperfectly) mind-controlled at the same goddamn time as 7,000,000,000 other people, which means that they would be lucky if Sugar & Spike didn't take them out.

Oh, fuck you; they were fucking impaired. Go back tou your incel hugbox, faggot.

Kek

Go to bed King.

Nice bit of foreshadowing

>Millar
Hurm.

>kid breaks his hand
>force him to do chores

Well, that explains a lot.

ignore that, subsequent writers still use beef bourginon as his favorite dish.

Holy shit. The little goon is crying.

Yeah, luckily my LCS had a bag and board that could fit. I was forced to put it on my shelf with my trades.

You're thinking of Moore

I can't believe this wasn't writen by Tom King.

You are thinking of Ennis.

You are thinking of Millar.

>This kinda fucks with the idea that Clark grew up as some average American.

That's a very recent idea, and even then he's shown to have powers since being a young kid, so the idea that he grew up as an "average" basically just counts till he's like eight years old. Clark had powers as a baby since the Golden and Silver Age.

>I think there was also supposed to be a nod to this in Hancock
Yeah, iirc it was part of a deleted scene in which Hancock fucks a minor - not knowing her age though - and he blows the roof off when he jizzes.

Is this supposed to be cute? Clark thinking this is a romantic gesture seconds after Lana was almost gang raped? What the fuck is wrong with Miller

>White kid calling a black kid "peckerwood"
What?

Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to give Miller the keys to a Superman story? He has his strengths, but this is the wrong tool for the job.

He is old and crazy.

That's pretty much beat-for-beat for the BJ scene from The Pro- minus a few bits.
youtube.com/watch?v=u9kUbnHyTk0

holy fuck this took like 2 years to finally come out and its even worse that I had imagined.

what a fucking waste of everyones time. and forcing Workman to make every OTHER word BOLD! because MILLER! is brain DAMAGED and GARBAGE

that was also a robot chicken sketch

>how much Miller hates Superman
Did you not READ the scene where Superman starts coming back and the newslady is just getting hyped about it? Nobody writes a sequence like that hates Superman. Fucking nobody.

You're thinking of Shooter.

If the goth kid ends up being Luthor I will be happy

It'd be Ennis if it was male buttrape, Moore is more traditional

He was hanging with picked on kids and the emo stabbed him in the hand.

>Lori Lemaris
when issue two coming out?

Man I don't know if I love this book or hate it. Miller is so fucking crazy and it kinda works for Superman. But I am not sure if I like the whole Clark always knowing he was an alien and brainwashed his adoptive parents into taking him in.

Is this supposed to be the same universe as TKR? That might explain the more alien Clark which I hate. Clark has always been the most human even batman said so and he is apparently never wrong.

It is indeed the same universe

Certainly not when Wizard of Oz came out.

He didn't learn the lesson!
his hubris still gets the best of him , right?

She and the other 3 L.L's according to Frank.

And yes is not fair.

>Military brat tomboy Lois
PLEASE PAPA FRANK GIVE ME THIS

How is he going to fuck Lori?

How is that fucking rape when they’re making out?

>How is he going to fuck Lori?
We'll have to wait for the second one.

He’ll find a way. He’s Superman. I believe in him.

We only have to do the impossible once.

Fuck you, Miller.

>t. A faggot

They can't say, it's generally bait.

This. It sickens me. I understand casuals and faggots think "Le racist man hates all that is good and made Superman a stooge" but it does sadden me that people who supposedly know a thing or two about comics just ree incessantly.

Miller was always a Superman fan. Anyone that actually read his comics would realize it. It was clear he didn't like working with not-Reagan in DKR and went along with Batman's death ruse. Readers were too fucking dumb to pick up on the subtext so outright had Lex and Brainiac be the powers behind the government in 2 with Kandor as their hostage to get him to obey and had Batman admit Superman threw both fights against him in 3.

There's not a single top-level comics writer that doesn't respect Superman. Even Gaiman and Ennis respect him. Superman is like the one thing every decent comic writer agrees on.

It kills me that critics and reviewers only seem to ever be critical of Miller, and with everyone else it's "every comic is a miracle and we should be happy it was even made."

This story was beautiful. It isn't perfect but it just bugs me that because people imagine they know millers personal views they inject their own political obsessions into their own reading.

Meanwhile mainline books like King or Bendis are ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE and they act as if they're godsends.

This was absolute shit, holy christ i can't believe DC gave Miller fucking Superman to ruin with his faggotry.
This comic pretty much represents everything wrong with DC.

This post represents everything wrong with Yea Forums.

>larping
Why?

You don't normally say faggot, because not faggots hate Miller, so why LARP?

This was a stunning book. The only people who dislike miller seem to be leftists and casuals.

Why do people act like Miller-verse is canon? Why do people excuse garbage mainline books and get so pissed about non-canon books they don't have to ever even acknowledge?

Only faggots*

Reminder that Lois is the superior tomboy and deserves Clark more than Lana.

>comic about Supes being a kid
>hire a guy that can't draw kids to save his life
fucking why

God damn that was great. Wish I bought this yesterday.

what is this expression trying to convey?
