The AI were all quirky, but reasonably smart, interested in working, and did not want to kill all humans, so they just went with it. Jeph, likely - would not have the audience or profit he does if he wasn't pushing so much LGBTQ+ characters in the most milquetoast way to an audience that probably just minorly glances around at anything remotely to do with LGBT stuff to support. I could see there being a genuinely interesting idea behind creating robots that are so bogged down by human problems and quirks that they never achieve enough intelligence to overthrow humans. Most articles came out around 2015-2016 which is when I started seeing alot more posts about QC on Yea Forums.A few in 2018-2019 though.. most cite Claire of Faye as means to read the comic because one is a tranny and one is a drunk.

Plus, the whole being around for awhile and updating frequently.. but it's really nothing special. He got lucky is all, if you were to make something as generic and pandering you could possibly reach similar success.

Honestly I'm surprised those sites have enough reach to pump Jeph to the levels he's seeing. I perceive those sites to have audiences in the 4 to low-6 figure range, yet Jeph's audience is probably in the high-6, low-7 figure area.
