That mindset started to kick in around the time Entrapta x Hordak was starting to become a thing in the fandom. They primarily used the autism to denounce the ship (despite it not being official) and later it just sort of spread to the actual show.

I just watched the episode for shits they did more than reference it. The concept for the s1 finale is actually heavily inspired by the the premise of the episode. They totally removed the humor and Perfuma's deal with Hordak, but in the orignal ep it had Shadow Weaver discover a black gem that would allow her to use her magic to block out the sun which would eventually kill the Whispering Woods and allow them to attack Brightmoon so Hordak had to capture Perfuma so her magic wouldn't counteract the harm to the woods.

You can see how it lots was changed for the new series but I think it's really neat to take the core of the evil plot of an original episode and turn it into something legitimately threatening and interesting.

I don't know how anyone can unironically like Entrapta. I'm not even talking about her being so socially inept that she keeps almost enabling genocide but holy shit that voice is just so annoying. They have such a good dynamic. Everyone is usually pissing themselves in fear of Hordak, and entrapta feels none of it, and rather than losing his shit over it, Hordak let’s her do her thing and actually engages with her. The dynamic is an "Evil Overlord and his Mad Scientist make cool shit" one, AKA, the perfect dynamic. They play off each others needs/have a symbiotic relationship, with the overlord having the materials the scientist needs to help create the weapons the overlord wants.

But Hordak is also a scientist as well as Entrapta, but she's the better one and as of right now he doesn't have a problem with that. She's not after power like Shadow Weaver was, nor is she failing him like Catra was doing, so it must be nice for Hordak to finally have someone competent and not vying for his seat of power. You don't see people like that everyday.

Entrapta also seems to have a lot of autonomy when it comes to procuring materials and handling the refit of First Ones tech. She literally had her hands within the Fright Zone energy grid and seems to be able to come and go as she pleases from Hordak's sanctum as well as be in the same room as him as he's refitting his armor, where he is at his most vulnerable.
