Toonami will be rerunning one episode of HxH on the 29th. This is obviously to sync it up with the end of TPN, however we don’t know if we have a new show replacing it.
Gundam: The Origin replaces TPN (or maybe HxH) on July 6th. Don’t listen to the fanboy lies. It’s maybe 5 minutes of action for every 50 minutes of standing around and talking.
Apparently there are two other show announcements coming in the following weeks. Probably just more garbage but hype yourself up if you want to. It’s been 3 weeks now and that cunt still hasn’t delivered.
Last week was all around mediocre. Nothing too good nor too bad. This week we add Lupin to the lineup and we return to disaster territory. The night fell apart at AoT which lost 45% of the audience and never recovered. The real standout though is Lupin, which manages to lose to FOUR(4) shows after it. Four! Leave it to Demarco to relicense proven failures then wonder why his block gets cut down.
>It’s maybe 5 minutes of action for every 50 minutes of standing around and talking. So, it's Gundam?
Jayden Williams
is Lupin doing poorly really a surprise?
Robert Price
>Lupin's ratings being a bottomless pit.
Told you.
Elijah Taylor
Lupinfags were pretending last week that it wouldn’t be an abyss. Personally I only expected it to lose to Clover. Losing to literally every show after it is downright embarrassing, especially when one of those is Bort which has been a long term problem
Kevin Robinson
only in America can an incompetent fool like Demarco ,who picks shows based on his personal "taste" in anime rather than how their target audience will respond, keep his job comfortably
/tg/: >"Oh boy! Here comes Kinopin the Third! Fuck Dragon Ballsack! Fuck My Hero Leukemia! Fuck Narutard and his son Borutard!”
Everyone else: >Sees the intro and goes “Ugh” because it’s THAT show again and changes the channel and tunes back in an half an hour later when it’s over.
One again, it is proven everyone in this thread doesn't speak for the actual viewers.
Kevin Richardson
MANY people here were saying that Lupin was going to be a ratings pit and that they should have went with any other show
Dominic Anderson
>Oh boy! Here comes Kinopin the Third Fucking nobody said this, retard. Everyone knows poopin is a death pit.
Zachary Cooper
>cherrypick handful of fanboy post to represent all of TG >ignore the majority of posts that were indifferent/upset
Jace Robinson
The audience are retards though. I'd show them nothing but contempt as well if I were in his place.
Adrian Martin
>like lupin >was happy to see it back >first episode was excite >then this thread
I like it too, user. A lot of the shows I like get SHIT ratings but what can ya do? I probably have shit taste. My mother was wrong.
Gabriel Rodriguez
Actually if you like shows Toonami fans hate, you probably have above average taste. This crowd tends to hate anything that deviates from the dragonball formula too much. From the complaints, people here seem to want the block to go back to being an after school programming block aimed at 10 year olds.
Brayden Gutierrez
you have to remember Lupin is a niche thing outside of japan Toonami is for shounen shit
Andrew Hughes
the shows it airs are for 10 years old and half the shows are long running so it can be played every weekday
>Toonami is for shounen shit This attitude is what killed the block. Old Toonami was shounenshit, new Toonami was on adult swim, it aired tons of anime actually aimed at older audiences. Then Damarco gradually turned it back into a kiddie block, so all the people not interesting in watching shows for kids stopped watching.
Jeremiah Cox
>the shows it airs are for 10 years old At this point yeah, but that's not how it was post-revival. We used to air actual adult shows, now the best we get is edgy shounen series like Jojo and TPN. And when Demarco tries to give the block real seinen, like Lupin, the manchildren throw a fit.
Parker Howard
Doesn't Italy or something love Lupin?
Jaxon Mitchell
What is this picture trying to convey?
Brandon Williams
>Lupin >Real seinen
Austin Carter
People don’t want it to be shonen shit only. But they also don’t want it to be trash like Gundam and Lupin
Robert Green
>spend years running off everyone but shonentards >have an oh shit moment when you realize you aired all the shonen worth a damn >try to pander and get some of your old crowd back >wtf why don’t they want anything to do with the block now? Demarco dug this grave for himself
Mason Thompson
Seinen anime are anime adapted from seinen manga, which is what Lupin III is. It's one of less than 10 true seinen titles new Toonami has aired. Every single one of them has struggled against its contemporaries and generally done worse than shounen titles they aired next to.
>wanting good shows means you want them to air after school crap There’s a laundry list of good anime that deserved the slot Lupin is wasting
>audience tells you what shows they do and do not want >ignore them and make block your live MAL page >WHY DO THEY HATE ME AND MY LINEUP? No one wanted more Lupin. The ratings for part 4 made that abundantly clear
Brody White
Lupin struggled on ASA too. This isn’t new. Plus is right. By airing mostly shonen, people who wanted other shit saw it would never come and fucked off. They willingly molded the block into one that can only air cookie cutter shonen
James Phillips
What went through DeMarco's mind to get more Lupin after its abysmal performance the last time it aired? Hell, Lupin never had a good history in ratings on Adult Swim.
Anthony Miller
>Lupin struggled on ASA too Lupin III on AS predated ASA, if I recall correctly. It's always been a late night filler show, not a front runner to bring in crowds. I suspect they initially got it for cheap since it was an old comedy anime from the 70s.
Hunter Ross
>There’s a laundry list of good anime that deserved the slot Lupin is wasting Oh this should be good. Name 5.
Chase Lee
Now that I think about it, Lupin looks like something that airs at prime time around 8-10pm. It's too adult and sophisticated for the average anime fan to handle.
Ryan Wright
Good Anime like Gungrave, Read or Die, Crest of The Stars, and Gad Guard always aired on Tech TV. AS has always been Inyuasha, FLCL, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, and Big O
Leo Baker
Boogiepop Phantom. It's Late Night Anime kino and works better when you're half a sleep.
Ethan Fisher
G Gundam to shill that Blu-Ray set, Netflix Evangelion, Devilman Crybaby
Nolan Murphy
It's not sophisticated at all though, it's a comedy/action manga with lots of violence, sex, and slapstick. It's just not in a format that low attention span kids enjoy. There's not a constant stream of novelty, no nugget of plot progression. The "cool characters behaving coolly" moments are more subdued than shouting until you glow a new color. People who like battle shounens have been trained to sit patiently through talking scenes to get to the "good part" where somebody throws a punch. Usually the talking scenes do nothing but reiterate previously stated information so they remember it, so it's usually not important to pay attention. After an episode of talking, eventually some action happens that involves fighting. Lupin doesn't respect this formula, so they get nothing out of it when an episode is almost all dialogue and then action takes a few seconds to resolve.
Jacob Lewis
Lupin is goofy as fuck. What do you mean "adult" and "sophisticated"?
Alexander Howard
I mean, it's got rape and murder and all sorts of unpleasantness.
Gabriel Price
So does Family Guy and I wouldn't call that show "sophisticated".
And don’t listen to these dumbfucks that are not me and also wrong
Nathaniel Clark
Batlle Shonen is literally made for kids and should be airing during Saturday Mornings like Yugioh, Pokemon, and Digimon used to do. They don't belong on Late Nights.
Parker Wilson
Everything you listed is old and shitty though
James Young
The Battle Shonen on this block is nothing like those shows you've listed.
Xavier Nelson
Americans are full blown retarded who don't understand grain, or that old anime was made for the 4:3 format. The borders triggers their autism.
Cooper Martin
I agree, I'm just explaining that being for adults doesn't make something sophisticated. The closest Lupin III ever got to being aimed at kids was the pink jacket, which was an atrociously watered down version of the red jacket series, which was already a very sanitized version made fit for daytime TV.
Ayden Morris
>all these Lupintards in desperate damage control mode Yes, the issue must be that everyone but you is stupid and tasteless. Perhaps you should make a comment about how you need a certain IQ level to appreciate Lupin next
Dylan Martin
All I've done is state that Lupin is made for adults (which is true) while shows that do well on Toonami are made for children (which is also true).
Elijah Anderson
And? Muh grain doesn’t make shit shows good. It makes shit shows harder to watch
Hudson Gomez
>Konosuba >Shield Hero >Overlord >Goblin Slayer >Mob S2 Konosuba is legitimately great but the dub is not good enough to do it justice and it would do terribly on this block and you know it.
Mob 2 is seriously one of the best anime to air in the last 10 years, but given how poorly season 1 did I doubt this one would do any better.
The rest are trash though.
Levi Wood
Remember that time a Cowboy Bebop rerun beat the Lupin rerun in ratings?
Owen Sanders
Mob is too pure for Anime. He's a normie who wants to get /fit/ and get girls to notice him.
Noah Evans
>PARTY IS OVER is nowhere on your list.
I'm disappointed. Embarrassed. Ashamed.
Ryan Williams
Konosuba has fanservice. That’s all you need for big ratings
Jordan Hall
30 minutes of deers humping would boost the ratings sky high. Trust me. A rebranding is in order. Wild animals straight up humping. Gay animals starting at 2 am for the freaks. Ya know actually this would probably work even better on weeknights.
Noah Jones
Adult Swim censored SAO because the rape scene. They'd unironically edit out Megumin's panties, and all the shots of Aqua's ass.
Samuel Gonzalez
tim and eric did that over 10 years ago
Daniel Wright
I don’t understand that meme so i assume whatever it’s from is on my backlog somewhere
As others have said, Demarco shaped the audience to only be shonen retards. Lupin and any other show that fails is because Demarco chose for it to fail
Ryder Collins
assclass
Robert Perry
They didn’t edit out the panties in Lupin. You people are so fucking stupid that you can’t differentiate between rape and ass shots
Jayden Young
Damn those sexy geniuses.
Ryan Parker
Only Dragonball gets huge ratings. Is he going to save face by airing OG DB, or Kai when Super ends?
John Edwards
>I don’t understand that meme Dororo.
Adam Sanchez
Shake, are you posting from Frylocks computer again?
William Peterson
I lost hope for this block when HxH was announced because it completely solidified that DeMarco wanted to exclusively cater to the Shonen audience and offer no variety.
Jordan Clark
Original DB is hated by DBZ fans because it doesn’t have any of the elements that made DBZ popular. Kai rerun already was attempted and it failed. GT would probably be seen as an insult
Cameron Martinez
So, is Demarco going to air Heroes?
Nolan Ward
Shake? Who is Master Shake? Surely whoever he is he could afford his OWN computer instead off needing to use frylocks!
Jack Edwards
I feel like the only Z fan that liked the original Dragon Ball. I thought it was fun to see what Goku did as a kid before the power levels and alien stuff when I was younger, and it also showed how he met the likes of Bulma, Master Roshi, Krillin, and all the others.
Jacob Kelly
Has anyone else been having slight difficulty sending posts through?
Demarco doesn’t get to choose what DB content airs on the block. They air what Toei graciously allows them to. Since I assume Toei has a new DB project in the works, they probably don’t want to give GT any unnecessary exposure. Toonami is likely going to have to go forward with any DB content for awhile.
And that really isn’t a problem, just look at the ratings. Super doesn’t improve anything. Dragontards come for Super, and leave when it ends. Nothing more
Angel Howard
I thought you meant /tg/ the board and got confused
Jose Edwards
Shake doesn’t have a job and isnt responsible with money
Asher Taylor
Toonami 6/15 in a nutshell:
>COME BACK NAKED LADY! >Goku Jobs as usual >Erwin you magnificent bastard I READ YOUR BOOK! >her hope and optimism: LOST >Yugioh has become a literal white knight for m'lady >Lupin vs Yea Forums >Ichigo steals the show >Plan for your future kids >Ninjamon >i forgot, i fell asleep after Nardo
This has been you weekend summary
Jeremiah Lee
I would only want to see GT on the block so I can compare its ratings to Super's.
Daniel Garcia
THOSE ARE SLANDEROUS LIES!
Juan Cox
Shit Clover still below SAO. Kek and fucking pathetic.
Liam Fisher
Nah, I heard dem rumors too. Ya know, I hear Shake also likes to use his good lookin neighbors frickin pool without his permission all the time too
Angel Cooper
WHOMEVER Master Shakes neighbor IS surely feels privileged to have his pool graced by someone so ruggedly handsome! FOR ONCE. CARL!!
Isaiah Barnes
>10:30 My Hero Academia 507 0.25 Gee...I wonder what caused the spike?
I'm really vibing with Lupin Part 5 so far and don't think it's wasting a spot but would happily list five shows anyway Kaguya-Sama Boogiepop Blood Blockade Battlefront Re:Zero Princess Principal
Luis Green
How many times now has titty meat and higher ratings been directly connected?
Daniel Evans
Hero into Super: GAIN 20.3% Oh shit MHA didn't do so bad Super into Titan: Lose 36.7% Titan into Neverland: Lose 14.8% Neverland into SAO: Lose 0.6% SAO into Lupin: Lose 27.8% Damn, this is looking way more fun than Part 4. I hope people give it a chance Lupin into Clover: GAIN 3.4% Clover into Boruto: Lose 0.8% Boruto into Naruto: Lose 2.1% Naruto into Hunter: GAIN 2.1% lol
>dubbed konosuba pls no also it would be censored a lot, no succubus episode
Kevin Edwards
>it would be censored a lot Why are people in these threads so dumb? One rape scene gets trimmed down (partly because they were tipped off by Sketch considering the flashback to it was not edited and showed some of the edited footage) and now you all think Toonami airs at 4pm again
Lucas Rivera
>Why are people in these threads so dumb? >One scene gets trimmed down wow it's like if this event never happened then the post you responded to would have never existed
Lincoln Scott
We've just set a BRAND NEW RECORD for lowest rated premiere!
Here are the bottom 10: 456 Outlaw Star 2:30am 8/19/17 450 Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2:00am 8/4/12 440 FLCL: Alternative 11:30pm 9/8/18 439 Attack on Titan (Season 3: Part 2) 11:30pm 5/25/19 437 Pop Team Epic 12:00m 6/30/18 394 Sword Art Online: Alicization 12:30am 2/9/19 361 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable 12:30am 8/18/18 345 Mob Psycho 100 11:30pm 10/27/18 310 Megalo Box 12:00m 12/8/18 236 Lupin III: Part V 1:00am 6/18/19
Anthony Reyes
Having a cute little girl with her flat chest always on display would make le faggit uncomfortable.
Because it doesn’t make any fucking sense >somewhat realistic rape scene is cut >this means all fanservice of any kind will be cut going forward It’s retarded
Jayden White
Gundam will make a play for that title in a few weeks
Jackson Miller
Generals and japanese media are not allowed on Yea Forums
Chase Long
Imagine if Demarco just turned it into an ecchi block.
Tyler Smith
I find it hard to believe Unicorn Gundam or IBO S2 ever did better than 456K
Jack Mitchell
108238661 Toonami is though, bait kun
Connor Harris
Because they never did
Id rather watch a great show with a meh dub over more slop with a good dub
Hunter Wright
It would save the block in an instant but he is too stupid to do it
Ayden Perry
Can't wait for lupin to take hunter's spot
Connor Wright
We need some joke dubs to save us. Bring on the Ghost Story
Christopher Long
>we need joke dubs >literally the only title that ever accompanies this sentence is Ghost Stories It’s not even that funny
Connor Young
Unicorn only ever went below 456k once, and IBO Season 2 went bellow it six times.
Jason Bell

>Lupin loses to everything fuck
Jayden Stewart
It would be too 'controversial' today. It may be a bit overrated but some of the episodes like the rabbit one are pure gold.
They don't happen that often. Toonami should make some new ones
Dylan Murphy
Toonami doesn’t make dubs you moron
Xavier Robinson
So is something new replacing HxH? Maybe moving Nart and Bort down?
Jordan Adams
>To sync it up with the end of TPN
excuse me?
BOTH are ending?
That's two fucking slots gone that i actually give a shit about
Gavin Sanders
>The hater crowd immediately changes their tune when Lupin gets better ratings than Shitpudden and Son of Nardo Remember the fun of Akame Ga Kill! And Sentai dubs in general, good times
Levi Garcia
It's going to be a rerun of The Promised Neverland.
John Murphy
They haven't, but they could. Its gotta be cheaper than funding shitty anime sequels no one wants
Christopher Hill
>I just went from 5 fucking shows to only 2
>Jojo's done >HXH is about to be done >Week after that TPN is going to be done
>only have My Hero and AoT left
The replacements better be good
Ethan Stewart
I'd rather have a decent show that gets bad ratings than a crappy shonen that gets mediocre ratings.
Liam Wilson
Isnt HXH technically being done this week, next week being a rerun shouldnt really count
Colton Cruz
It's the last week the show will be on the block. That's what I'm counting.
Oliver Bailey
fair enough
Carson Hill
TPN will be back sometime next year. HxH is done for good most likely
James Reed
>dub something >have to buy the license outright >have to pay who knows how many VAs >at the end of the day they aren’t the sole owner No, it’s not
Gavin Sullivan
There’s no reason to do that, they have other stuff to rerun
Liam Mitchell
Shiiiiiiet, i hope TPN's finale is worth it before the gap
Joshua Wilson
>dubs cost as much as animating new content Are you genuinely fucking retarded? Do you think new shows don't have voice actor costs? Do you think licensing is as expensive as hiring an animation studio?
Goddamnit I thought the guy from bebop was doing it
Justin Brooks
The fact that they do not own the content and therefore make no profit off its sales means yes, dubbing shit they don’t own costs more than making new shit from scratch that they do own
Owen Ortiz
Fucker shouldn't have pissed off /biz/
Jackson Stewart
And relies entirely on shock value and suspense for viewership. Something that won’t be there with an immediate rerun
Brody Rodriguez
>SYPHILIS IS BETTER THAN GONORRHEA k
Hudson Perez
He's credited as "creative producer" which basically means they're basing it off his Blade Runner short.
Lucas Campbell
The first episode getting low ratings doesn't mean shit desu
Justin Bennett
>and therefore make no profit off its sales Holy shit why are you even arguing when you know nothing about how the business of dubbing is done? If they have the license to dub, they're going to have the license to sell in NA
Look, I actually do like Lupin. I enjoyed both part 4 and part 5. I've seen most of the movies and have even read the original Monkey Punch manga. So, by all metrics I should be biased in favor for it. But even I know Lupin is a Toonami ratings sink hole. Unless it was forced, or a part of a package deal, why would le faggit man go for something--again--that he should know is going to massively fail? The exact same thing with Gundam. I like Gundam, but it's a Toonami ratings coffin. Why go for it again, and a not so good series at that. I know streaming services are grabbing up exclusive rights to damn near everything, and fag man has shot his own foot in relations with most anime licensers. But surely there must have been something better to get? Maybe try for another lesser known series to try to get decently OK ratings with, like what happened with Dimension W, Michiko to Hatchin, and Megalo Box.
Isaiah Taylor
Oh Aku, do you have Stantler and Wardorf over there with you?
Zachary Rogers
Is Gundam Origins even good? I already got drowned with all the other Gundam shit Toonami threw at us so im used to 30 gorillian episodes of not action
Brandon White
Of course. But Demarco is a narrow minded idiot so it will likely be Demon Slayer and Dr Stone
Camden Thomas
only if you like Char
Jason Diaz
Based and Akupilled
Lincoln Powell
Demarco likes Lupin and Gundam. Any show he likes goes to the front of the line
Robert Sanchez
Nope. It’s got a few good fights towards the end, but everything before that is talking
Parker Ross
Don't worry, they won't.
Michael Campbell
His main job at AS is music. Toonami dying means he had less work to do each day, nothing more. Maybe that’s why he is so eager to kill it.
Charles Murphy
Then get someone competent to care for Toonami
Brayden Hughes
no one wants to
Xavier Cooper
That's not true, there's also Shin-chan.
Caleb Cook
Shin Chan doesnt count because it was made for America
Luke Thomas
The only person who even gives half a shit about Toonami besides him is Kim Manning, and she has more important stuff to do.
Aaron Green
I mean it kind of does. It’s a dub made without following the original script for laughs. But I also never see anyone suggest that. It’s always the low hanging Ghost Stories fruit
Dominic Nelson
what about gill
Brody Cooper
Because we had Shin-chan on ASA.
Leo Lee
>Lupinfags were pretending last week that it wouldn’t be an abyss. Not really, everyone who didn't tune out was just trying to enjoy it since it was given to us anyway.
Jonathan Kelly
>two shows ending at the same time if we lose another half hour i dont know anymore
It's not, but the viewing audience is conditioned to want things in the vein of DBZ, Black Clover, etc. and not watch things that aren't in that ingrained shonenshit style.
Cooper Anderson
Here's last week: 10:30 My Hero Academia (r) 486 0.21 277
11:00 Dragon Ball Super 630 0.31 405
11:30 Attack on Titan 413 0.19 247
12:00a The Promised Neverland 361 0.16 205
12:30a Sword Art Online: Alicization 378 0.16 203
1:00a Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable 348 0.15 198
1:30a Black Clover (r) 354 0.14 186
2:00a Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 279 0.12 156
2:30a Naruto: Shippuden (r) 265 0.12 158
3:00a Hunter X Hunter (r) 268 0.13 169
Good Lord, this is a shitshow. Why would he grab Lupin when there's a whole slew of other shit to grab? Granted, this first episode caught my attention, but still. Once again, Chad Clover has crushed the show airing prior to it; we should really get a promotion to midnight, especially now that Jojo is over with, which was people's chief complaint with Schedule Change A.
If nothing else, this little experiment has proven that HxH fans are dedicated. Interesting that BC and HxH have the same demo, but only a 2k gap in ratings; too bad it's gone in like two weeks.
Jonathan Rivera
Dragon Ball was fun to watch. It's at the Piccolo arc that foreshadowed the power wank that was Z
Christian Davis
I wish we would get uncensored Dragon Ball
Camden Cooper
There's an hour between them, user. If he switched BC with SAO, I'm sure the former would get higher ratings and demo than SAO has been getting.
I mean, we have chunks of AgK and KLK to prove the point, but here we are.
Brody Walker
It's nothing horrible and nothing amazing at the same time. It's just an average anime. People either want super good shows or shows that are so bad you can enjoy the trashfire.
Camden Lewis
What was Lupin's Part 4 premiere ratings?
Ian Gutierrez
>Dragon Ball was fun to watch The canon parts are, Toei crammed it with filler, unfortunately.,
Dominic Harris
>The fact that they delayed HxH ending Pretty sure that was bunk, nobody posted proof.
Brayden Wood
Does Gon hate Hisoka?
Oliver Jenkins
>5 of the bottom 10 are from last year >2019 already has 3

Major thanks to the user that compiles this for every show.
Cameron Kelly
Megalo Box was one of the most talked about series while it aired, it was CR's top show in most of the united states.
Jack Bailey
The kicker is MHA is done in August, I think, and AoT will wrap up in July. By summer's end the block will be decimated, only the eternal naruto power hour will remain, and Super, which will be finally ending this year I believe.
Alexander Cook
>get big popular show everyone is talking about because they are all watching it >wtf why didn’t anyone tune in to watch it on second chance theater? You chase the fads and you won’t succeed
Liam Allen
SAO takes a break in July, AoT and MHA end in August. So there’s 3 slots that need resolved in a short period. Gundam and Super end around the same time in fall.
Grayson Adams
Plenty.
>Shows that would do very well on Toonami but Demarco won't get cause he's a faggit Killing Bites Dorei-ku Slime Isekai
>Okay shows that would probably turn off the DBZ crowd but are solid entertainment Banana Fish Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens Angolmois Golden Kamuy LoGH - New Thesis Grancrest Senki

>shit that would be crazy to see on Toonami but would never ever happen SSSS Gridman Asobi Asobase Chuukan Kanriroku Tonegawa Darling in the Franxx DxD Hero
Caleb Barnes
AoT already aired 4 episodes, there's 6 left (this cour is only 10), so we'll be wrapping up in the end of July unless we do a 4th marathon.
Gavin Parker
>Dorei-ku Ok now I know you are shitposting. That shit was so unpopular there weren’t even thread on Yea Forums about it. I’m probably the only person here who even knows what you are talking about
Michael Phillips
>Don’t listen to the fanboy lies. It’s maybe 5 minutes of action for every 50 minutes of standing around and talking. Why is this a bad thing? I thought you guys wanted to see stuff on Toonami that's not just Shounen shit. Sure we're not gonna get any slice of life/magical girl bullshit any time soon for as long as DeMarco's in charge of the block but this is technically the next best thing.
I agree that The Origin is gonna be a shit pick for Toonami since it heavily relies on the audience's familiarity with 0079 and how Char and the Zabis act there, but it's not the worst thing in the world they could have added.
Oh, my count was off. So it’s replacement cycles in August 3rd
Isaac Mitchell
>eat this turd, come on you said you didn’t want to slurp diarrhea anymore
No. It’s an Amazon show so it probably won’t ever get one either
Parker Kelly
>Hurrr greentext non-argument Look I'm sorry a show you didn't want got picked over one you did want but at the end of the day we're not the ones in charge of the schedule, it's Demarco and Funimation/Aniplex/whoever that shape this block. Like I'm still surprised we don't have a dub for Golden Wind yet since everything's simuldubbed these days, but I'll just have to wait for it to come down the line eventually. You and I are gonna put up with Gundam for the next 13 weeks, and we're just gonna have to accept that.
>Like I'm still surprised we don't have a dub for Golden Wind yet since everything's simuldubbed these days Viz doesn't really do simuldubs, especially not for Jojo. They've always waited til the show finishes airing to start dubbing.
Isaac Campbell
Right, so it's perfect for Toonami.
Chase Turner
>dumb jojofag the doesn’t understand Viz doesn’t simuldub So you are just a run of the mill idiot, gotcha
Thomas Brown
I still don't hear an argument why a show that's mostly talking is a bad thing when people want shows that aren't just "Big McStrong Man beats up the bad guys" on the block, other than "HURR GUNDAM = BAD RATINGS" as if the majority of the block after midnight doesn't always have bad ratings.
he didnt win an emmy again followed up by a meg joke then quagmire raped something then joe made you feel better about your life the robot chicken guy yelled a line brian said fuck trump and drank stewie made a gay that was pretty much the last 19 years.
Ayden Carter
Because the same people that don’t want generic shonen also don’t want dreck with no action either
Jack Taylor
Quagmire has been reduced to aging boomer now. >Brian said fuck trump I haven’t watched new seasons, has he went down this path yet? In older seasons, whenever he makes a Bush joke everyone in the room treats him like a retard
Christopher Hall
That's what Toonami gets for trying something out of the ordinary. Maybe they should just stick to shonen so I can masturbate to higher numbers.
tried it once then i realized i was eating seaweed you dont see americans wrapping pork in dandelions
Dominic Bailey
It's too far in the other direction. At least a show like Ghost in the Shell will throw in witty dialogue and interesting visuals among their technobabble and exposition. Gundam is usually as dull as possible with their political/ideological discussions and exposition, with the occasional theatrical outburst.
I'm not saying I need something happening in every scene like a Monogatari show, but modern Gundam is so painfully cut and dry. You literally have to already be invested in the universe in order to get any real enjoyment out of it.
No, Programming Insider haven't released their report yet.

Poor Lupin
Let us update the drinking game and drink the pain away. Here's some starter rules: -A car chase happens -Fujiko reveals herself -Fujiko double crosses everyone. -Lupin hits on Fujiko. -NEET girl hacks something -Zenigata gets embarrassed -Goemon does something obviously impossible -The locals get theirs for not listening to Zenigata. -Lupin escapes a trap or outplays an enemy. -2 shots when they steal something -2 shots when Lupin’s blonde wife from last season shows up
Where are the fucking show reveals at? How can one man be so incompetent that he never has his shit in order? >b-but the distributors! My ass. You can’t use that excuse every time and expect people to keep biting
Carter Martinez
because suspense
Tyler Smith
Does anyone have the image of pic related but it's from a reaction compilation video with like 8 people in it? I'm positive it was posted in a Toonami General before but I can not seem to find it.
BC isn't a crappy shounen. And a ratings pit is a ratings pit despite being "decent"
Ayden Gutierrez
>This crowd tends to hate anything that deviates from the dragonball formula too much. Is that why the DBfags watch the other shounen on the block too? Oh wait they don't
Nathaniel Barnes
>I'm not saying I need something happening in every scene like a Monogatari show Monogatari is a literal slideshow though. >You literally have to already be invested in the universe in order to get any real enjoyment out of it. Worked out well for Jojo lol. Nobody looks to Jojo for good writing, just memes and pop culture references the average Jojotard thinks all these pop icons stole from it.
Parker Harris
>I still don't hear an argument why a show that's mostly talking Gundam Origin is mostly standing around talking. That's what people didn't like about the Prequel Star Wars.
Chase Myers
Its honestly dumb that even after 50 episodes my hero is still getting babied by dragon ball. Black clover got kicked out while it was in the mid teens and boruto during mid 20s. Toonami should bring back a modified version of the April schedule 11- dragon ball 1130- SAO 00- AoT 030- black clover 1- my hero 130- boruto 2- gundam 230- lupin 3- Shippuden 330- Megalobox/promise Neverland
Ghost Stories is the worst dub of all time because it poisoned the well for comedy anime dubs.
Joseph Hughes
That's actually not a bad lineup. But switch Shippuden with Gundam.
Jordan Butler
this image is a true classic.
Josiah Cox
anime that's high on dialogue and low on action are bad because it's written with too much exposition, expecting the viewer to memorize the lines and dialogue in order to understand plot points.
Gundam Origin is literally a modern remake of 0079 and more focused on plot points. Modern anime viewers hate Tomino because they don't understand his theatrical and operatic style of writing, or why certain characters descend into madness.
Tomino is completely old fashioned in that he rather show characters changing rather than telling the audience that characters change. Reconguista in G is the perfect example of this where multiple characters align with certain factions mostly out of self interests, which doesn't line up with what politicians want.
Nathan Ross
Americans Anime fans just don't like Lupin. It's doesn't have a serialized narrative to keep plot fags entertained, and moefags feel threatened by the prospect of having to work hard to impress the Greatest Good that is Fujiko.
Jacob Phillips
>Gundam Origin is literally a modern remake of 0079 SBY 2199 wasn't this boring and it was a modern remake of the original.
Ryder Anderson
>pink jacket Pink Jacket was just Red Jacket with lots of pastel colors. Incidentally, they wanted to make Pink Jacket's format more like Red Jacket and do any plot with Lupin and the gang, but schedule changes and multiple studios working on the same show kinda ruined it.
The cast of Origin are much more mean spirited and jerkish than their 0079 counterparts. it's noticable in characters like Ryu, Amuro, Char, Garma, and Dozle because Origins focus more one the One Year War, missing the point that people were just tired of conflict and wanted it to end.
Andrew Green
No, P3 would do well on Toonami since it has the atmosphere of late night anime. P4 is slice of life.
Nathan Smith
No because it's harem and school life.
Caleb Collins
You know, this isn't a bad schedule. They should try to reimplement the April schedule now that Jojo is off the block and HxH is almost done. I can't even remember what the April schedule was anymore.
Ryder Powell
Yeah listening to the Jojo minority fucked up the ratings for a few more months imo.
Oliver Bell
I mean, I see where they were coming from: Hey, we're in the middle of a premiere, it seems unfair to get shafted, especially when it was over with in like 8 weeks. In retrospect, they really should not have listened to Jojo fans or told them to watch it On Demand/AdultSwim site after it aired.
Jonathan Foster
It might. 5 would do the best.
Luis Morgan
Jojo got awful ratings so I don’t see your point
Benjamin Jackson
Americans just don't like the concept of Stand Fighting. Battle Shonen except for Black Clover is too watered down with emphasis over spirit powers and government sanctioned messages instead of physical strength
Angel James
They are trying to do something that isn’t entirely reliant on Dragonshit because come October, they can’t use it as a crutch anymore. As strange as it is, MHA is actually benefiting from being next to Family Guy
Leo Parker
So I think we’ll be fine if they actually are able to get season 4 of MHA the week after Super ends as a same day simuldub
Ryder Gutierrez
user, I’m the guy who asked the question and even I got the joke
Kevin Green
But Goku fits in well with Family Guy. He's literally halfway between Mike Tyson and Early Culyer in terms of personality.
Vegeta is pretty much Stan Smith.
Caleb Brown
We won’t since Hulu gets it first
Ayden Russell
That doesn’t matter. In 4 months, Goku is leaving the block and there’s no future Goku to take his place. Toonami needs to prepare to not have their poster child anymore >but reruns! Because that worked so well for Kai, right?
Jaxon Hall
Nope, it's old as dirt and who knows the overlap between Toonami fans and Persona fans. >Persona 5 anime Caroline-"Do you really need this?"
Kai had very low ratings even in it's home country of Japan. It's viewed as a very inferior version of Z.
Jacob Perry
>FLCL 2 is bad >FLCL 3 has worse ratings
Surely these two things couldn't be related!
Hunter Bailey
There is only ONE good Gundam Series and that's Gundam G
Ryder Butler
Alt and Prog sucked because both shows made Haruko the main lead instead of Naota. It should've been Naota who spoke to Hidomi, and Kana.
Robert Gonzalez
G Gundam was good because it abandoned the military and politics in favor of a love story mixed in with martial arts.
The problem with Gundam is that there's no average joe that the viewer can relate to.
Brody Butler
And it had great ratings here, as a premiere at least. It has done abhorrent as a rerun
Levi Martinez
I think the popularity of the Abridged version and Funimation taking notes from Team Four Star, or working closely with them might've soured Kai.
Jacob Taylor
The problem with Gundam is that it never has good characters
Ian Torres
G Gundam and Reconguista had Good Characters.
All other Gundam Titles suffered from behind the scene drama like actors being unavailable, tight production schedules, directors suffering from depression or illness.
G Gundam had slightly similar stuff, but the one that stuck out was the story behind the final attack.
Anthony Sanchez
No doubt abridged has ruined the series. Everyone thinks they are a top comedian when they reference it, even though all the jokes have worn thin
Luke Foster
The argument about already being invested in an anime in order to enjoy it applies 100% to Jojo.
Easton Lopez
>it seems unfair to get shafted It's more unfair when the show after it overtakes it in ratings at least once a month.
John Anderson
It doesn’t though since unlike Gundam, Toonami started from episode 1 and skipped nothing
Cooper Perry
Toei themselves prefer to listen to the Latin American fanbase, where Dragonball Super is treated like a MMA heavyweight match. They see Goku as the last truly masculine hero in Shonen and like Gohan when he's Macho.
Aaron Miller
Lol Toei doesn’t give a fuck what anyone but Japan thinks
Nolan James
>say you have showsnto announce in the next week or two >reaching the month mark since that statement was made >no announcements
Let’s be real. Most of the non-shounen that aired on Toonami between 2012 and 2016 didn’t do well compared to the shounen. To say nothing of the fact that FMA, InuYasha and Bleach were the best rated anime on ASA.
While I do think they should have kept a slot or two for fresh seinin at all times even if they did not do great, relying on shounen for ratings did make sense. Do you honestly think people who like seinin would have kept cable for Toonami if seinin was mostly what they were airing? I doubt it. Nothing Toonami airs has to be watched on Toonami so it’s hardly a good enough reason to keep paying for cable. People can stream the subs legally or pirate the dubs if the dubs aren’t also streaming.
Not that many seinin appeal to casual viewers unfortunately. Black Clover, My Hero Academia and Shippuden appeal to more people overall and Dragon Ball Z / DBS is unmatched. But there at they point where they can run something like Pop Team Epic and do well enough so they should try more mature shows again. Going back to UC Gundam and Lupin was a very very questionable choice though. Especially doing both at the same time. They really need someone else to guide the show picks if DeMarco will keep going back to dried up wells like those two franchises. Try something that hasn’t already proven unsuccessful.
Jason Thomas
If Aniplex actually dubs it, maybe.
Jason Hughes
ASA isn’t a very good gauge because it’s content varied so widely. It’s no shock turbo popular content like FMA did miles better than niche garbage like Blood+. Admittedly, when it comes to seinen, there is very little out there that can rival shonen in the popularity department.
Rather than two extremes, Toonami could have stuck in a happy middle. Shonen content that has elements that wouldn’t let it fly on CN. As it stands right now, all Toonami gets is garbage out of Jump, which is shit CN could air with mild edits.
If you want a gauge for what I’m talking about, think SAO. No one will call SAO seinen, but it has enough elements that it has to air on AS. Toonami has aired a few others like this in the past like AgK and KLK, but they mostly stick with the hard extremes that cause them problems. The Jump trash always has a million episodes which bores people with time, and the seinen they do choose is boring slop that puts the 2am crowd to sleep. And even when shows fail, they license more of it, and it fails even more
Jackson Rogers

Caleb Williams
>3:30 Of course those are bad ratings, its graveyard shift. Most people are asleep by then.
Alexander Lee
It’s because of that tennis shit. AS doesn’t seem to grasp when you do something as a joke, you don’t proceed to air it over and over like it’s your standard content
They have never been that low, though I guess Toonami really isn’t doing it’s part to prop them up either
Ian Cruz
They just swapped in most of those shows but they may not stick around long at this rate.
Michael Campbell
FUCKYEAH FELLOW FAIRY TALE POSTER
Angel Jones
Japan hates modern Dragonball and pines for the days of the classics. To them, Dragonball peaked when Goku became a Super Saiyan. The only thing that surpassed it was Movie 8, which was more connected to Goku than the Android Arc.
Grayson Phillips
I agree they lean too far into the extremes. When they get drama it’s too heavy on talking, when they get comedy it’s nonsensical stuff rather than an actiony comedy, when they get battle shounen they don’t avoid the really youthful stuff despite ASA having the common sense to mainly air shounen that CN would not. And you can partially thank CN’s lack of interest in anime for that but Toonami still isn’t obligated to air every JUMP anime DXD won’t. MHA didn’t need Toonami to get popular.
SAO is an appropriate pick for Toonami. Theoretically Gundam and Lupin aren’t bad choices but both franchises have already failed and sequels and prequels won’t change that.
Caleb Nguyen
>4:30 The Venture Bros. 199 0.09 >5:00 Aqua Teen Hunger Force 166 0.08 >5:15 Aqua Teen Hunger Force 169 0.08 >5:30 Home Movies 167 0.08
What are Venture Bros, ATHF and Home Movies doing up so early? Sunday Mornings are usually when people either sleep in, or get up to get ready for church.

Pink jacket was a mixture of green and red and got the worst of both worlds. Poor production values like green, and more of red's watered down lupin content, but without the wholesome charm that made red jacket a classic series. The pink jacket is rightfully a forgotten era for the most part, though Part 5 does occasionally reference it. In fact there were references to previous jacket colors in the first episode of part 5 if you noticed.
Eli Morris

Super Saiyan God is supposed to be a form that shows mastery over Ki. Of all the homages to Z, Super forgot that Goku realized that Super Saiyan can get stronger if the user simply trains their mind to become more relaxed and get used to it.
Out of the three, Caulifa is the only one who understands the basics of Ki control.

gee the last one was about leonardo da vinci and it seems like they still live in italy in this new episode, i wonder why they like it so much, hmm
Eli Fisher
he probably means it isnt all to actiony like any of the other shows despite MHA having episodes of them not even fighting at all. it is normal per se, and normal is boring, might be better if it wasnt an anime at all. i like the show, but i couldnt watch it at all when i was in my high school and younger years it was just so boring of an anime, although it is more adult themed but i wouldnt say sophisticated. right now i would say TPN is the most boring show right now with the ONLY good parts about it are whenever a monster is in the scene, which only happend in like what, 3 scenes so far?
Jackson Kelly
It wasn’t meant to, I was reinforcing your point. When you start hiring YouTube poop stars you know you have a problem
Andrew Torres
Fuck I didn't see the A, I thought you just said DBZ.

A good middle ground series between casual shonen and a show that an older demographic can enjoy is Blood Blockade Battlefront. It's made by the creator of Gungrave and Trigun and it's utterly balls to the wall insane in a good way. One of the main characters is basically anime Bender, a tightwad womanizing drunken sleazeball whose main character trait is just being a dick, it's great.
Apparently its going to be 4 cours as well so a full year of it and its right up Demrco ally more long runners since most of our current long runners are starting to end.

Xavier Wilson
Technically I don't think he was using them as genres. But he was still using the terms wrong either way, so I guess that's not very relevant then. The argument is still stupid regardless of semantics though.
Camden Bell
user, I know this sounds like a denial type of thing to say but all cable is slowly dying. FG isnt even pulling a million anymore

Keep living in denial if it makes you feel better, but we're not getting two new series at once. They'll announce TPN reruns soon enough.
Jose Anderson
>Sonic the Hedgehog describing the plot of Dragon Ball Z kek

I’m not saying we will get two premieres. I’m saying I think they have at least enough collective brain cells to not immediately rerun a show when they have other options in their rerun pool
Juan Rogers
The new show will be Cory in the House Kai. Trust me,my birds work for Demarco.

user, getting this would be a brilliant move and Demarco is anything but brilliant (outside of music, anyway).
Given who's behind it, it's an easy pickup, but the day we get this is the day we get Golden Kamuy.
Jason Long
id actually rewatch the first season
Leo Wilson
this looks fun
Samuel Garcia
A brilliant move in giving first dibs on a shonen show that could potentially blow up in popularity sure, but quality-wise, ehhh. Although it might be another BC, with its tepid first-impressions and moderate reception that became a very popular show despite its short-comings and the second strongest performer on the block.
Ethan Scott
I have a personal policy to never watch any Pokémon anime, especially the original. It’s not for any malicious reason, I am just absolutely certain that it will not live up to the nostalgia in my head. So I preserve that by not watching it
Michael Mitchell
>get BC early presumably to capitalize on its success if it happens >actually does fairly well for itself >treat it like shit anyway and squander a ratings opportunity Demarco is something else
Nathan Long
We fucking need Konosuba. This isn’t a want, it’s a need
Ryan Wood
>my tv has been glitchy all week >no time to call a tech Hope Toonami goes smoothly enough.
Cameron Hernandez
I don't think initial reactions would be as tepid as with BC. It's by the Soul Eater guy, so there's an association with something a lot of people liked right from the start. Clover didn't have that.
Ian Stewart
On one hand, I would like to see it lead in from Super. On the other hand, I'd have to shift my life around to catch it if that ever happened. Personally, I'd be fine with either 12:30 or 1am.
Jackson Brooks
If he gives it any special treatment that would be admitting that he was wrong so he probably figures it better to stick it in front of HxH and do nothing else. True, and the fire-fighting gimmick is pretty fresh compared to generic fantasy setting #who'scountinganymore? Plus it's shonen, who really gives a shit about quality as long as it looks cool?
Gabriel Moore
>airing a show starring a literal pedo Never
Xavier Robinson
That show is way to complex for the current Toonami audience. Its rating would be worse than Lupin's.
Joshua Cruz
The Toonami crowd doesn’t know nor care who writes stuff. They find a few talking heads that either say “THIS ANIME GOOD” or “THIS ANIME BAD” and that’s what they stick with permanently
Justin Clark
It's one out of few that absolutely need to be here >Fullmetal Alchemist
Fire Force suffers the same issue as TPN. Starts off with a bang, then shits itself on succeeding arcs. Also the MC is on the same vein as Seven Deadly Sins' Melodias in that he's a gentlemanly perv, has the same backstory as Deku, and has a super secret power like Naruto.
>True, and the fire-fighting gimmick is pretty fresh I see you haven't read series set in modern Japan yet, just with special powers. May I interest you in one My Hero Academia?
>Starts off with a bang, It starts out boring and never really recovers into something interesting.
Grayson Rivera
>Getting more longrunning shounen shit would be a brilliant move
These threads are a joke at this point. And none of you have even read this shit because if you did you wouldn't be asking for it to be on Toonami especially if it runs a full year. Most people who keep up with the manga says its shit. People are just getting overhyped from trailers as usual.
Aaron Nguyen
Dragon Ball's actual filler is leagues better than Z's filler. In Dragon Ball you have Tien and Chiaotzu being trickster assholes scamming villages out of money. In Z you have Garlic Jr. In DB, you have Goku going back in time and meeting a young Roshi, seeing Roshi's master in his prime. In Z, you have Fake Namek. In DB, you have Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien save a village from a volcano. In Z, you have Ginyu Bulma. In DB, you have Goku rescue a redheaded princess from a demon king. In Z, you have a horny redheaded snake bitch who wants to eat him. In DB, you have Goku and Yajirobe search for the Ultra Divine Water through a perilous frozen hellscape. In Z, you have Five Minutes.
Jackson Myers
>ginyu bulma i fucking forgot about this shit

The Big O and Outlaw Star were seinen.

Jordan Baker
If you are going to meme, at least pick stuff that didn’t already air on ASA and caused them problems.
Isaac Howard
There is literally only one step 1 that works, and it’s the removal of this moron from his position of power over the block. Every single problem Toonami has right now is his doing, and any attempt at criticism is ignored so he keeps fucking up.
A realistic scenario would be decreasing Demarco’s say on pickups, while increasing Kim Manning’s. She is much less biased, and also much more open to risk shows.
The bottom line is if you don’t address the Demarco problem first, you can’t fix anything
I have a feeling he actually reads these threads. Ever since the talk of replacements has been going around, the autosaging has stopped, because he knows if we do get an announcement, a brand new thread goes up. Once we get over the new show hump, we will likely go back to autosage
Grayson Miller
To be fair, I'd be willing to bet that Demarco is enough of a faggit to air something that already fucked up AS.
Luke Powell
Gundam is premiering at 3am. Weather there's another new show is unknown.

Kayden Hall
Demarco is a fucking idiot is why. Honestly I prefer Gundam over reruns. Of course, as long as we have something replacing TPN and they aren’t just moving the block down

good, now they need to move lupin the turd to 2:30
>Gundam Origin is literally a modern remake of 0079 There isn't a single scene in The Origin OVA that appears in the original show, asides from like 2-3 scenes that happen in flashbacks in the original show like pic related that serve as a bridge between the two. The Origin manga on the otherhand is a retelling of 0079, with the stuff the OVA covers being three volumes worth of background fluff Yas added as a flashback placed between the Battle of Jaburo and White Base leaving for space.
The OVAs end at the beginning of 0079's first episode, so don't get your hopes up to see The Gundam in action.
That's every episode. Aside from the annual year-end-supposed-best-ofs, where they do games and music along with movies and tv. And the bi-annual Q&A episodes where you might actually get mostly Toonami/anime talk.
Guilty as charged.
Josiah Lopez
So now that it’s essentially confirmed, what do you expect to replace TPN? I’d assume it’s another dub premiere. Has Demon Slayer started its dub yet?
Nicholas Sanchez
Nothing, they'll just move everything up half an hour.
Jonathan Hill
Gundam is at 3am, that’s not happening
Sebastian Nguyen
Gundam at 3am is why they're doing it.
Liam Gray
After already making a commercial for 3 AM. Not likely...but I suppose not impossible given the crew of fuckos in charge over there.
Carson King
A premier at THREE A M By far the saddest most pathetic premier to come on toonami, Jesus.
If Gundam doesn’t beat the premiere low set by Lupin now, I don’t think there is any salvaging Lupin’s reputation
Nathan Harris
how do i fuck this slut
Owen Roberts
Seeing as how they're putting Gundam at 3am already, I'm thinking they only got it because it was part of a package deal, or it was pushed on them. Only question is what that package deal was, or why it was pushed on them?
Austin Murphy
The latter. Ultra Instinct doesn't use ki at all. It's a hyper-focused state of mind.
Dylan Hill
Get her drunk enough. It won't be hard she only has 1 INT.
Elijah Sanchez
Demarco picks the shows, scheduling chooses where to put them. Scheduling has seen 3 other Gundam series tank Toonami, they are putting it where it can do the least damage
Parker Nguyen
>deathslotted before even starting Hellsing at least had the excuse of having an abnormal runtime that occasionally had to cut into a rerun that night.
James Sullivan
>leorio spent all that time running for chairman to save gon >only gets 5 mins with gon after he's cured
