Read online

I do a mix of physical and pirating. If you want to test the waters DC has a netflix style subscription service for comics and tv shows. It's a good place to start if you want to test the waters.

i can't stand reading on a desktop. it's either buy a tablet or just buy physical comics for me

I just read on my phone

Tablet with marvel unlimited is comfy. Doesn't have shit that's come out in the last 6 months but there is so much old stuff it doesn't matter too much

I steal 'em.

Just buy if you wanna support the artist
Especially if they're creator owned
I recommend you checking your local library as well

>2019
>buying comics
Whew, lad

both
I buy mostly trades and HCs, some small collections in floppy form
read online on my phone, laptop for downloaded collections
current Big 2 stuff, I just point and laugh

elaborate

> buy

Digital. I can have a million comics without the bulk.

Definition of thief

one that steals especially stealthily or secretly also : one who commits theft or larceny

I like paper. You can find old trades really cheap online or sometimes locally if you got a good comic shop in town.

>Buying anything digital.
I can't believe people are okay with using real money to buy fake shit, if you can't hold the product in your hand then it ain't worth shit unless it's a service.
Read it online or download it, then if you like it, buy the physical. It's just bad news otherwise: what happens if your storage device gets fucked? Provider goes kaput or decides you aren't worthy of being a costumer anymore and revokes the use of your purchases without refunds? Lose account? Have to go off the internet for an extended period? At that point it's the same as burning the money.
There's nothing like cracking open a comic book and having a collection you can return to at any time at your convenience even if the world's about to end.
It's why I game pretty much exclusively on consoles too, at least on that I buy a physical disc I can pop into the system whether or not I have an internet connection, rather than paying 40 bucks for a plastic box with a single use redeemable code inside for a 30+ gig download. Steam is the worst thing to happen to PC gaming, don't let digital comic books become the norm as well. The convenience just isn't worth it.

I read online aka piracy, and if I like the comic I buy trades or hardcovers for it

You can get a comic book reader app for your tablet for free or for a few bucks and then download pirated comics as .CBR files which the app can then open. You can find pirated comics on torrent sites like thepiratebay.org. I'm sure there are better sites out there but that should get you started, should you choose to go the thief's route.

Read online with a phone

Pirated scans, mainly because here in the junglelands we have a huge delay from the comics being released in the US (they're starting secret wars around here, and some titles are even more late, with almost 2 years of delay)

So I usually buy only some TPBs from things I already have read

I agree that paying for air is stupid, but pirating digital comics is great. If you store them on a couple of hard drives and maybe a cloud service or two, you really shouldn't have to worry about data being lost any more than worrying about your physical comics getting ruined in a flood or fire.

And your point about video games is kinda pointless now that most games these days come with patches that are essentially mandatory.

>but pirating digital comics is great
I didn't say it wasn't.
>And your point about video games is kinda pointless now that most games these days come with patches that are essentially mandatory.
I have yet to come across any. Do you have any examples?

I have a large external hard drive connected to my PS4 with a lot of games stored on it. If I only used physical discs I would have to physically switch discs any time I wanted to try a different game and also need a lot of space to store all the discs. If one of discs got scratched or they all got damaged in a flood or fire I would be shit out of luck. As it is now I can delete any game as needed for space, and redownload it at any time. I don't foresee myself losing internet access any time soon, unless I lose my job or civilization collapses in which case I'll have bigger things to worry about. Digital seems like the better option given all that.

bump

Physical for projects I believe in. Read online for everything else.

Floppues for three series I want to actually keep going then trades for minis and everything else I like after reading online (got No Road Home abd FF volume 2 last week and getting Quest for Magik tomorrow)

Comics are a dying industry. You're better off finding something else to do with your time.

Even if they died completely tomorrow there's hundreds of thousands of pages worth of good classic comics already in existence that OP could entertain himself with.

Nah, OP should find something else. Comics were a grave mistake, and their memory needs to be wiped completely from existence.

Too late

Buy from a comic shop near me.

Read online

Purchase TPBs online.

Avoid local comic book shop at all costs as if anything is going turn you against being into comics it's judgemental self absorbed assholes that work behind counter at comic books shops. Just don't go in there. Nobody should have to put up with their shit ...

Read online mainly. Buy stuff I like.

Mainly
Illegally, but I buy books I would like to have physically.
