Face it Yea Forums The cast of Spider-Man was forced by Sony to have diversity hires
There's literally no other reason Peter's best friend is a fat asian guy from Morales stories, his bully a indian-arab thing, and love interest went from a black girl to another black girl whose father is an African-American, with roots in Arkansas, and mother has German and Scottish ancestry.
So? In five years no one will remember this movie, or most of the MCU except that an evil purple guy was in it. You're falsely conflating the efforts to tell normies they're still cool if they like capeshit with actual changes to it. When the next Big Thing Disney Says You Can't Miss Out On comes along, they'll drop capeshit like a hot potato. Meanwhile, actual nerds will always see MJ as a busty redhead and will just laugh at That Time [character] Was A Nigger.
Chase Brown
The cast of Spider-Man was forced by Disney not having the balls to do a Miles movie. So they took his universe and gave it to Peter
Lucas Bennett
Making Ned into Ganke in all but name has 1 good reason. Denying Bendis credit or money
Noah Wood
>Sony makes five movies with almost exclusively white cast >collaborates with Marvel for the new series >but it's sony's fault that its full of darkies Doesn't add up.
Andrew Roberts
>his bully a indian-arab This is the one that gets me the most. On one hand it’s actually kind of surprising they didn’t keep Flash an all American Johnny Football white boy just to tear him down and call him toxic masculinity and ignore all of his good traits but on the other hand the guy they went with is such a rat little pip-squeak that it makes no sense for him to be a bully even if that’s part of the joke. It’s just weird and while there are certainly bratty rich kids like that he is not at all the same kind of bully character that Flash is supposed to be (physically intimidating, which is supposed to play off the fact that Pete is actually stronger even though he doesn’t appear at all that he would be which causes its own drama).
Brody Martinez
>she’s MJ, but she’s not Mary Jane! >dyes her hair red and quotes iconic line Was it a lie all along
Wyatt Stewart
Face it /pol/ no one gives a fuck if a character is black
You can cry and make threads about it every second of every day but people still don't give a fuck
Liam Watson
>So? In five years no one will remember this movie, or most of the MCU except that an evil purple guy was in it I used to think this about Star Wars, 35 years ago. Are you that guy who thinks the DnA Guardians run was super-duper popular everywhere?
Jaxson Howard
Can you imagine the level of out-of-touch you have to be in order to believe this?
Evan Sullivan
fpbp
Justin Butler
So basically you were prepared to be triggered either way.
>forced by Sony Did they force the casting? Maybe, but Marvel Studios had creative control. Sony can't be blamed for Marvel Studios' irrational fear of including literally any aspect of Spider-Man's character that has been adapted before, even down to his own independence. He's glorified fucking Robin now 4 appearances in. The entire first trailer for FFH was about losing muh Iron Christ.
Colton Fisher
>I used to think this about Star Wars, 35 years ago. GET OFF Yea Forums OLD MAN
Jacob Brooks
Why must gingers always suffer?
Christian Bell
Well, Pete's in an illustrious school and Jock Flash has no place there, so another smart kid who's really a complete jack-ass using social status to humiliate him on the regular fits better with what they've established.
Also, this may be a sort-of response to the anti-bullying "trend" in modern schools. If Flash were to hit/shove/physically assault Peter *once* and got caught he could very well be expelled. Then no more Flash, no more conflict, no more interesting hardships in Peter's school life. Alternatively, Peter finally having enough of Jock Flash's bullshit and physically assaulting him gets *Peter* expelled instead which may over complicate his dilemmas in a movie setting which is already strapped for time (though that would certainly be an interesting take for a comic or show to run with...)
Jeremiah Moore
>So? In five years no one will remember this movie, or most of the MCU except that an evil purple guy was in it. Will that be the same 5 years that everyone magically realizes that BvS and Man Of Steel were kino and the pinnacle of cinematic excellence? Fucking Ladderbro's DC bankruptcy predictions are more believable than "everyone will forget the biggest and most successful cinematic achievement in all of movie history in half a dr ecade"
>his bully a indian-arab thing Flash’s actor is Latino
Jackson Kelly
I bet you're that guy who thought the superhero bubble was gonna burst in 2012, then 2013, then 2014, then 2015, and so on?
Joseph Morgan
>Well, Pete's in an illustrious school and Jock Flash has no place there, so another smart kid who's really a complete jack-ass using social status to humiliate him on the regular fits better with what they've established. So instead of making Flash they made a completely new character and changed his name to Flash Thompson.
David Rogers
It's scary seeing how old some of the losers here are. Just the other day someone was talking about seeing The Shining in theaters
Grayson Stewart
Cool thanks for sharing. Who cares?
Brayden Bell
>tfw so many people have so little going on in their lives that they're still pissed off about brown people in a Spider-Man movie
Alexander Smith
Distracts from the story? Cheapens the character? Confusing as shit?
Jayden Fisher
Forest Hills, the neighbourhoud Pete is actually from is 60% white, 24% Asian, 12% Hispanic and 4% Black.
Daniel Reed
They should remake Roots and have Kunta Kinte a Guatemalan immigrant because that’s what farm hands look like now. They should stop drawing Mickey Mouse with clothes because I don’t see any mice in pants. They should remake 24 and remove the black president because presidents aren’t currently black. The Turtles should never be seen in the turtle van anymore because while there are still vans in NYC there are way more of those European styled tall and skinny ones like Ford transits in that city so it’s definity too hard to belive they would have some Astro van looking thing. All red heads should never be seen on screen outside of Ireland because there aren’t that many, especially in NYC, so it’s completely fucking ridiculous that they would be on screen. And I better not ever see a British person in another show set in London, that is not what it looks like now.
Liam Bailey
Not just Spider-man. They do this for EVERY movie.
How?
Jaxson Edwards
>they're still pissed off about brown people in a Spider-Man movie Imagine the outrage if half the main supporting characters in Black Panther were white.
Andrew Clark
It's not confusing, just fucking stupid and pointless. The worst part is that Peter already had a love interest that wasn't white or MJ, but no, gotta change the skin color of this other character.
Landon Lewis
Yeah, Pete going to school in the most racially diverse city on the entire planet is totally comparable to a hidden forbidden city smack in the middle of deepest Africa.
Alexander Miller
>Wait why does Peter have fat chink friend i thought that was miles >How the fuck is Aunt May so young, is she showing interest in Tony Stark after Uncle Ben just died? >Where the fuck is flash does that mean he's never going to be venom. Little things add up.
Josiah Reed
see
Aaron Cruz
>Where the fuck is flash does that mean he's never going to be venom. This is a movie universe, not a bi-monthly comic. It's not going to be around so long that every secondary and tertiary character develops a super-identity at least once.
Jayden Robinson
He still fulfills the same role of a school antagonist who hates Peter and respects the hell out of Spiderman, which is always a nice dynamic to have around.
Benjamin Clark
>It's not going to be around so long that every secondary and tertiary character develops a character. Fixed it for you.
Nolan Kelly
>The cast of Spider-Man was forced by Sony to have diversity hires Sony Pictures you mean, which is run entirely by jews and has been a drain on Sony's bottom line.
Now that Sony is moving its headquarters to California it will affect all Sony products.
Robert Sanchez
Not even remotely what I was saying you thin skinned fag. Stop looking to be triggered just so you can call someone else triggers. These are all good points and I don’t disagree with anything you said. However like this guy said the character really isn’t Flash anymore which goes back to the point that they should have just made a Miles movie instead of completely changing Peter’s cast. Pete could have been a teacher at the school or something if they had been able to set him up earier.
Julian Cox
While I have no doubt that you're an expert on little things I don't think anyone cares about Spiderman's fat best friend or even knows there's a Venom other than the reporter guy
Alexander Wood
user, I don't agree with any of the changes that they've made for MCU Spider-Man but that's not confusing.
It's not the same character, at that point if you're going to change 75% of what makes the character who he is then just make a new one. That way no one that's a fan of Flash is going to have a problem.
Easton Martin
That too. Pete isn't going to have 13 different girlfriends in the MCU/Sonyverse. His boss isn't going to keep churning out supervillains to attack him. And you might want to sit down for this shocking development: They aren't going to use ever single iteration of his rogues gallery from the comics. They might not even use every single one of his rogues at least once.
How? Have you BEEN to New York City? The entire cast being conveniently the exact kind of white you like would have been unrealistic and distracting.
Of all of the complaints to make, this is by far the dumbest.
Carter Sanders
But an Agent Venom movie would be great and if Disney ever gets to make their own Venom film it would keep it from being a rehash of Sony’s.
Chase Phillips
>I don't think anyone cares about Spiderman's fat best friend or even knows there's a Venom other than the reporter guy Fans of the character care, you know, the same people that have issues with them.
Robert Sullivan
This will blow your tiny fucking retard brain but if they have issues with it they would have had those same issues in 2017 when they first came up and the movie went on to make almost a billion dollars
Asher Brooks
This isn’t a movie about the demographics of New York, it’s about characters from fifty years ago. Just make Pete and his friends white and nearly all other kids at the school can be a multiethnic rainbow. You seem to have completely missed the point of making a film adaptation of classic characters- it’s to see those characters and tell their stories.
Nicholas Adams
>I don't think anyone cares about Spiderman's fat best friend or even knows there's a Venom other than the reporter guy Being snide about my choice in words does you no credit, but to answer your question you don't care because you're not really from Yea Forums you're from tumblr and if no one else cares about them why have them in the movie at at all? Its not full blown i don't known whats happening in the story, its who the hell is he and why is he here dragging down the plot.
Nathaniel Hill
The movie isn't SET 50 years ago you retarded fuck
Jonathan Gomez
I feel like this is Sony's fault more than Marvel or the MCU for making an unwanted, unrelated Spider-series as the latter was ramping up. They tried to just capitalize on it, fucked up and then had to relent and let Marvel bring Spidey in after the midway point for the collective Infinity Stones arc, which--while enjoyable-- was not the best way to introduce Spiderman into the mix.
I have mixed feelings about them cribbing alot of stuff from Miles and taping it onto Peter, but... hell I don't fucking know. We got a much BETTER Miles out of it thanks to Spider-Verse so I feel that for all the flaws and re-takes, that was worth it.
Nolan Wilson
>He doesn't know about the gentrified parts of the city >He doesn't know how the same liberal's go apeshit when you try to get more diversity into schools their kids go to.
Samuel Wright
Yet they have time to do all these minor changes, really makes me think
Kevin Thompson
I wasn't being snide and I'm not from your bogeyman website or your evil totally real discord. I don't care because no one fucking cares. A fact you morons will realize when this makes a billion.
>no one else cares about them why have them in the movie at at all? Just when I thought this thread couldn't get any fucking dumber.
Charles Adams
There are still white people in NYC, they haven’t all been exiled you retarded fuck. Why do you think everything must be changed and characters need to be altered just because there are more browns than whites, is that the purpose of making a Spider-Man movie to you? Is reflecting whatever stereotype you have of a school in NY (and it isn’t a regular public school btw) more important than resembling the characters it is about? You are beyond retarded, your brain is completely poisoned and you have lost the plot.
Nathaniel Thompson
Agreed
Alexander Miller
> I don't care because no one fucking cares We both know thats not true otherwhise you wouldn't be so butthurt over someone else not liking this thing you like.
Dylan Harris
>Sony makes five movies with almost exclusively white cast because they worried about actually getting audiences >collaborates with Marvel for the new series, knows it's in the bag and can start pandering to SJW's >but it's sony's fault that its full of darkies
Luke Taylor
Yes, I had the exact same problems with the characters in 2017 just like I do now. >went on to make almost a billion dollars I guess I can't have problems with movies that made a lot of money.
Juan Mitchell
One by one, all gingers will be eliminated from media until they had zero representation. It's OK because they're white.
You can have a problem with it just like you dipshits do every time someone who isn't white or straight or male shows up on any screen ever but your "problem" doesn't mean shit because you're a tiny bunch of sad pathetic basementdwelling inbred losers who do nothing but whine on the internet
Brayden Harris
>friend mysteriously turns into a chink >you wouldn't be confused >doubt
New York wasn’t a white ethnostate in the 90s when the animated series was made and it wasn’t in 2002 when the first movie was made. But they still made the characters look like they were supposed to look. Also this MJ doesn’t just look wrong, they completely altered the charachter to fit the actress. But I guess we are telling the stories of ethnicity of current New York and what it’s like for teenagers now and not stories about Spider-Man, maybe my priorities are out of whack and I’m expecting the wrong thing from a Spider-Man movie.
Christopher Jenkins
I think that you need more buzzwords to get your point across.
Logan Collins
Fuck niggers and fuck SONY
Alexander Williams
but he goes to Midtown for school.
Christopher Long
In the movies, Midtown is a pre-STEM magnet school for only the top percentage of academic achievers. Realistically, the only non-whites that would be there are Asians and Indians.
Alexander Stewart
And you seriously think such an institution wouldn't have their own diversity acceptances?
Zachary Jackson
>indian-arab thing, Tony Revolori is Guatemalan
Jaxon Moore
Diversity quotas.
There's an eSTEM high school in our town and its got a ton of rowdy nogs in it. They score worst in the school, constantly get in trouble and repeatedly get suspended and expelled. They get into the eSTEM school, though, because the institution has to have a certain number of African Americans NO MATTER WHAT, even if they don't meet the GPA qualifications.
Bentley Rivera
You sound fucking insufferable dude. Let it go and get out more.
Liam Sullivan
>M.J. is totally not MJ and is a new original character, so you are not allowed to draw comparisons or criticize her casting >Whoops we lied she totally is MJ thee hee! You didn't expect that? ;)))
>being this triggered over melanin Back to /pol/ with you, snowflake
Jonathan Baker
>criticize her casting >implying any of your 'critiques' have anything other to do than with skin color
Aaron Flores
That video will never not be priceless.
Cooper Gray
Remember when people would insist that she wasn't Mary Jane?
Levi Sanders
She is the most insufferable character in the movie that i refuse to see the sequel just because of her
Jayden Gomez
Yes and?
Hudson Rodriguez
They never lied She was always MJ
People here said she wasn't so easily triggered morons like you would stop whining about it
Jayden Turner
Oh fuck off shill
Carson Myers
Someone very powerful in Hollywood hates gingers and it's an anagram. Might as well "diversity quota" it. 2 birds with 1 stone.
Hudson James
Racist.
Owen Cooper
>sony hired women who looked like their comic counterparts before >MCU is notorious for pandering >New Spiderman is controlled by MCU people to fit in I think you mean Marvel/Disney forced these hires.
Brody Jones
god you're a faggot lol. go outside
Zachary Wilson
What's it like being you, user? Are you just a constantly sad and bitter creature? Do you need a hug?
Wyatt Powell
Nah. Even if they wanted to push the "intellectual rival" angle, they could've made Flash both a brilliant math student AND a star football player. That way you have a better foil/rival because then you have a character that looks like everything that Peter isn't and has him beat in every angle, even though the audience knows Peter could destroy him with a single hand. The joke always was that Flash was unknowingly bullying somebody much stronger than him.
Instead, even the "intellectual angle" didn't work because nuFlash wasn't smarter Peter, apparently only got into the a school with his dad's money, and no one seemed to like him. nuFlash was in every way somebody Peter could take down even without his spider powers.
Julian Bailey
I'm down with whatever triggers the most spider-fags
Oliver Torres
>my biggest problem is her skin color, but don’t worry I’m not racist!
