Once upon a time Carol was a thot who received an op power set by accident and had to step up into the role of a hero. Shenanigans ensued, entertaining and heartfelt shenanigans, and alot of Carolfags are leftovers from the good times desperately trying to hold on to some of the old magic. Pity them if you must, respect them if you can.
As for the rest? A motley collection of dykes, trolls and the mentally deficient who assume they're in good company. I've only ever personally seen two Carolfags at my LCS; Mike (who's also a wondybro and good people) and some fat chick with a pink streak in her hair. I try to stay away from her because she smells of those candy flavoured perfumes middle school girls wear but she's obviously over 30 and that's all kinds of a bad sign.

And need artists who can draw women, Adriana Melo for example.

A good start would be to make sci-fi stories with Carol

Her books have never sold particularly well.
There just isn't a big audience for her, the liberals sucking the movie's dick aren't going to support it, and the majority of comic readers don't like her.
Short of turning her back into a cheesecake factory to get the lowest common denominator of the comics community to buy her books I can't see them salvaging her.
