Fenneko didn’t seem to get much screentime this season and felt tacked on when she did. Washimi and Gori played the part of Retsuko’s gal pals and that doesn’t leave as much room for Fenneko to shine.

And I think Retsuko does still want to get married, even if she also finds the whole process old fashioned.

One thing Ive been thinking about since watching season 2 is, is aggretsuko japanese propaganda to get the younger generation in japan to consider kids and marriage again? Retsuko is so focused on that now that any other young adult problems arent even brought up anymore.... And her mom who was portrayed overbearing and annoying in the beginning of the season is now sees as the sensible one who just wants Retsy to settle with av average man to get married and have kids as fast as possible. She got no consequences.

It would never work as a cartoon because cartoons need to have morals and a message. Aggretsuko puts social issues on display without without any overarching meaning to them. Ton as an unrepentant asshole who never gets his come-uppance. This isn't because what he's doing is right, or because IRL people like him escape trouble; it's just how it is in the show.

It's refreshing, to say the least. A show where the viewer has to think for themselves. This is probable why half the viewers see Retsuko as a poor girl beaten down by life where the other half see a self-centered Stacy.
